As a piece of history in the coloneal era of Sri Lanka, it is still maintaining the history, and as each govener of Sri Lanka in the past who added to this building, it is changing to meet the modern standards.

The hotel was excellent. Superb view of west coast Sri Lanka skyline. Had some appetizers and freshly blended juice. Nirusha was an awsome hostess as she took care of all our needs. Learnt quite a bit about the history of the hotel. Will be back again soon

I just love this hotel.. it's the only hotel in Colombo that has the beach access, a beautiful view of the Indian Ocean and an amazing colonial story and feeling! Recently, we conducted a basic first aid training for the staff and here are some photos of the programme. I was quite impressed how the managment was keen and supportive in training their newbies while we all know that the Sri Lankan tourist industry took a major hit in the recent months. Its important to recognize these small but important investments that all companies do for their future and for the betterment of the people. Hats off to MLH.

Superb.

Elegant place. Nice view and rooms facing the beach are highly recommended for the nice view. Great service. Friendly staff. Have a history spanning up to the colonial era of Sri Lanka. Has been a governor's house back then.
The grand ballroom is good for events. Reasonable prices.

First rate hotel on the edge of Colombo hugging the Indian ocean with amazing views from many of the rooms. The service is 2nd to none, baggage handlers are very well trained and hard working. Hotel rooms are clean and the room amenities are standard. The rest of the hotel amenities are quite good, the pool is extremely clean, and the chairs and tables are well kept (even the beach is well groomed). The food is delicious and the drinks are reasonably priced. The cocktails could be better, given it is such a fancy hotel, I had higher expectations but I guess even the Mount Lavinia hotel can't be perfect. If you are visiting for cocktails and a view I would still highly recommend it (cocktails mostly under 1000 LKR) the atmosphere is amazing with a live band playing at most lunch and dinner times.

The buffets are really good but slightly over priced, 2200 LKR for breakfast, 3500 LKR for lunch and ~3600 LKR for dinner. This does not include drinks so you can pretty much get a better deal that will fill you up anywhere in the city.

We didn't stay the night but were there for a wedding. There was ample parking available and the A/C was cranked up high which was nice for the July wedding. Below is the pick of the Governor's rooftop where the ceremony took place.

We had buffet lunch with group of 15 family members when we went on holiday from Sydney, there were traditional Sri Lankan dishes, Indian and Chinese dishes, reasonable price Rs 2000/= per person, fully recommended.

The melancholy peace of an old school mansion married with a stunning location on the beach are 2 things that you will not forget about Lavinia hotel. The food that is served for the buffets are amazingly tasty, varied and it's literally not possible for you to try all the fare in a go. The fish curries and deserts are very very popular. The place also multiple restaurants offering multiple things from live music, beach shack to a sit in etc etc. It is a wonderful venue for a destination wedding as you will find all options within the same venue

We stayed for a month at the beautiful Mount Lavinia Hotel. The professionalism and friendliness of all staff are commendable.

The staff meet and exceed customer service standards.
Front office staff along with administration reception, food services , housekeeping and the VIP tour desk personnel are committed to their duties while ensuring that requests are attended to promptly to achieve a satisfactory outcome.

The hospitality, kindness as well as the excellent service demonstrated to us during our stay will always be treasured--this was filtered through within all levels of the organisation, from senior management such as Camillus Cruse, Lal, Cedric (VIP tour staff Pathmasiri and our dear friendly, trustworthy and courteous driver Amal)

My wife and I appreciated and enjoyed the tasty and delicious food --thank you to all the catering and room service staff, Lomini,, Thilakarathne and Sriganthi you made our stay at your beautiful hotel a very happy and enjoyable experience.

I think this is a beautiful old place that retains its character and history. The staff are superbly polite and helpful and the food is amazing! The rooms are to an excellent standard, not too modern but sizable and clean with a HUGE bed and a breathtaking see view. The beach front restaurant and bars are stunning. Only had 1 night here but loved it.

It's a bit Fawlty Towers. We stayed in one of the old suites - the windows were falling off, the kettle didn't work, nor did the fan. The electrics failed twice and the mini bar was locked. But, all things considered, I'd stay there again. It's charming.

The coco spa at the Mount Lavinia Hotel is one of the best SPA s you will find in the area. They are very professional and well trained therapists. It s located close to the sea and offers two family rooms and several single rooms. The speciality service is the signature coco spa session which is 90mnt and cost is $95, the coffee scrub is also good and it s 30 mnt and cost is $40.

The only problem is that the hotel exterior is very badly maintained and the path way to the SPA will expose these neglected exterior.

Great hotel, with amazing views of Colombo and the adjacent beach. The staff are very accommodating. Terrace, pool, as well as public premises great. It is true that the rooms / bathrooms are a bit dated and could use a new coat of paint. Nevertheless, full 5 points!

Visited the hotel for sunday brunch and and saturday dinner buffet on separate days. The atmosphere on Sunday was very relaxing. The food was excellent and had a wide range of food. If looking for improvement the choice and quality of desserts should be stepped up. Also the guests should be given a welcome drink. If given, our party of 8 guests were not served.
However saturday dinner was a bit dissapointing. Although a table for 11 was booked in advance we had a long wait for a table to be ready. The food was very ordinary and a not so great choice. The whole dinner experience was"nothing to write home about".

I took body massage with harmony package @ Coco spa, mount Lavinia hotel. No doubt, it was the best massage I have had in my lifetime. It is Balinese spa and massage room is facing the beach, cannot beat that combination
