I booked a table for 13 people at the governors restaurant for international buffet dinner. When I made reservation, after 30min hotel staff called and asked me to make deposit I refused. [Total BS]

When we arrived there was little or no welcome. I took 3 bottles of red wine they refused to charge cokage and let us consume it. So we ordered hotel's wine the the waiter came with old wine bottle with damaged lable and it seems that it was not stored correctly.

Service was almost non existent.

The service level of this once a premium hotel is the worst i have seen in years. first they allocated a room which has no lift access for my disabled mum. i had booked for a triple room but on checking it was a double so the process took ages. the Checking took over thirty miniutes no apology for tbe delay and mistakes. Reception staff were rude.

my niece a year ago had booked a specific room an year ago. despite all the confirmations this room had been given to someone else.

the service in the restaurant was not better had to wait over fifteen miniutes for glass of water. the staff are not attentive at all. its sad to see the service level deteriorate so much.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights, and is has been outstanding. We got an upgrade to the suite which was complimentary and a very nice experience. Everything is up to a high standard, I recommend their spa and the amazing beachfront Fish Cove restaurant cooking fresh local fish to your method of choice.

1- An old and ancient hotel with a big name. The hotel has been operating since 1900
2- The reception was great and the staff were friendly and love to help
3- Thank you Mrs. Indra, she was more than wonderful and offered me all the service with all grace and patience
4- The location is convenient and excellent, away from the noise of Colombo
5- The service is very excellent
6- The restaurant is very excellent, the food is varied, the service is distinguished, the dishes are fast, and the options are suitable for all

A beautiful heritage building. I had buffet lunch and was amazed with the wide selection of food available.

Food and service is really good but place is lacking maintenance

Perfect for weddings,there are so much to see around so you never get board.if you see through windows you can always see the sea,view is much more beautiful when you got outside.the building structure is antique so if you love antique this is the place huge wooden doors tall walls and also huge trees...you can ask anything from the staff they are customer friendly and fully supportive.

Loved the ancient background of this and the service was excellent.And should appreciate the scenery with the beach and highly recommend it

Nice hotel with a very friendly staff. Hotel's interior gives a very heritage and royal feel. Most of their rooms are ocean facing and they also have their private beach. Restaurants have a lot of variety

Absolutely love the grand British ambiance with great service.

Had a homecoming here. The setting was great, but -everyone- got sick from the food. 185 people attended, and a large percentage had vomiting and diarrhea for days. I myself have only just started to recover 4 days later after being admitted to hospital and receiving serious medication.

Was a nice party, but absolutely not worth the pain and suffering afterwards.

Amazing Panoramic views of the Indian Ocean from the pool which is located on top of a cliff - the setting is truly breathtaking. The ocean view Deluxe rooms (complimentary upgrade - thanks Management) is a perfect place to watch the sunset over the ocean. The only things holding back a 5-Star rating are the slightly outdated rooms (some would call it rustic), the seriously slow poolside bar service (resolved by heavy tipping), and the weekend crowds (the resort is quite popular for their weekend buffets).

Great historic hotel in mountlavinia... the story behind the hotel is a very romantic love story... in English in srilanka for past years... it's has a lovely view in front of the see.... I'll really love this place... wish you all the best

Although the hotel has its unique character but better of to think twice to use your bank credit cards or to spend money there! As from my personal experience to find out that charges come towards my bank card 6 months later! For un real transactions. Though to wise to contact the hotel management for the issue but what a lack of communication and such indifference that extended to 5 months after! ... Again consider your money safe in this place !! --

Hotel for a one-day stay maximum due to proximity to Colombo. Old rooms and plumbing, dirty and noisy beach. Excellent food and the entourage of Britain.

It's a well maintained fully equipped hotel with high standards of upkeep, it's basically a Dutch monument converted hotel just adjuvant to the sea. It has multi various cusine with a variety of choices.

I am not from Sri Lanka, so I was looking for some Sri Lankan dishes and ended up in this hotel for a dinner buffet as they serve Ceylon food on every Tuesdays. I would recommend this place if you are looking for an accommodation or a nice ambience, but the dinner around this place on Tuesdays, where they serve Ceylon food is average only. They don't offer much varieties and I couldn't see any sea food on Tuesdays. The taste which I liked the most from my dinner bufett was Lamprais, which they have prepared so nicely. If you are pure vegetarian, I would say a big NO to this restaurant as they don't have much varieties here for a vegetarian. However I liked the ambience and view from this hotel and stay was also simply superb. The service is really good.
