The closest thing to a resort hotel while still in the city, MLH, thst colonial behemoth perched on a Rocky outcrop is my favorite 5 star hotel in the city. With an unparalleled view for what is technically a city hotel and an ambience that is heavy on the nostalgia, this is one great place to be. With great themed buffets that are more hit than miss and the terrace which is an amazing place to just relax, you can't go wrong. The occasional hiccup does occur, but all in all, 5 stars.

Lovely colonial palace revamped into a luxury hotel but the colonial charm is still preserved. And the beach is breathtaking. A must visit place in Colombo even if you aren't staying here. Try seafood cove for a great seafood dinner

Good.

We love staying here whenever we come to Sri Lanka - it is practically our second home. Besides the brilliant breakfast buffet and stunning pool/terrace area, the staff are what keep us coming back. They are all so friendly and welcoming and we always find it hard to say goodbye. Tiddy's tour of the Mount Lavinia Hotel museum and tunnels was fascinating and he provided a great insight into the colonial history of the buildings. Looking forward to our next visit.

Hotel with excellent ocen view, Train running underneath a small bridge which is the entrance to the hotel. Paradise beach which is a part of the hotel provides beautiful view of ocean in the morning as well at night. Seafood Cove market provides selection of fresh catches from Indian Ocean which the chef prepares in the form of mouth watering dishe and serves you while you enjoy the evening in light live music and the sound of waves.

The receptionist made it hard to access a Room booked for wedding preparation few weeks backs.. They asked for an extra payment without an explanation before the key was handed over which put me in a difficult situation.. However the manager did apologize for the inconvenience on check out.

Been to this hotel before. Experience this year not as good. Service deteriorated. As example regularly had to request that the coffee pot be filled again at the self service breakfast. More like this. So in my experience some improvements needed.
