Mount Lavinia Hotel Review

I love the experience. Exhibiting the true Sri Lankan hospital

I visited recently to give a b'day surprise for a friend to Seafood Cove restaurant in Mount Lavinia Hotel. One of the staff members named Udayanga gave a enormous support to make that surprise a life time memory. Food, Service and surrounding were great and I was very pleased to select Sea Food cove for that moment. Will recommend to any one.Visiting at night time will be relaxing and building a great atmosphere.

Service was very poor. My Aunt stayed there last week (JuLy 2017), and within the 3 days of stay, they changed her room 3 times. Not at all organised these days. Management should take a look at this problem soon.

The buffet does not have the variety compared to hilton. For 3500 its not that worth but the food taste is good. If you are a learner to dine from buffet this is a very good place since there aren't any big crowd. Overall ok place to be

Nostalgic feeling when you go this Hotel. The food selection is great with the sea food cover being the best. The only private beach available here..

The place should be maintained a little better...

Classy colonial hotel by the Mout levinia beach very close to the commercial capital Colombo. Very comfortable rooms and suits where luxury redefines and take you back to the British colonial era.

Great food. Loved it. But not the right place if you are on a budget.

Visited the bar in the ground floor. Poor service from the valet parking to the bar men. Did not feel i was at a star class hotel. Horrible experience

This is a 4 star hotel. Still it has more features than 5 star hotel. Located in a scenic place. You are lucky if you get a ocean view room ...Good food,colonial type spacious rooms.

The beach view is Superb. Had beach party here organised by our company. It was very good experience here

Good place to have coffee. Especially near the pool area with a view of the beach till Galle face area. but one time when I ordered black coffee, it was mixed with alcohol. I don t drink alcohol and this made me very disappointed. Apparently the waiter confused our order with someone else.

This is one of the oldest hotels/ landmarks in sri Lanka. And it is quite sad that it is not maintained. Even the staff is pretty bad. And by this I mean the management and not the service staff. I was kept waiting over 45 minutes to get my room which was supposedly been ready 2 hours prior to my arrival. It would have been OK if everyone was getting the same treatment. But a few "fair" skinned gentleman got their rooms sorted before me - even after arriving later than I did. It is very sad we get treated like this in our own country. There were alot more "shortcomings" - like them promising an elevator operator and not having one; and the elevator also conveniently stopped working for the main part of our event making it quite hard for the older folks to reach the top. This all happened during and on our wedding day. Horrible experience on the hotels part.

Nice beach to go out with family. Don't take to much stuff. Time it around 1600 to 1830. Bring water and something to munch. Don't buy unhealthy stuff from around. You can buy sausages, short- eats and achchaaru etc.

Very nice hotel, they have a vegan buffet in poya day and it is amazing. Plus they give you free access to the pool after the buffet.

If you love the sea and want to see the waves crashing on each other over a cup of coffee or a margarita, head to The Terrace at the Mount Lavinia hotel. My all time favourite hang out spot in the city with good food. Not the cheapest but its a nice place for a date or even if you want to be by yourself. The service is good.

Lovely colonial hotel with a long history. Closer to enough to the city and far enough from the city buzz.

One of the most relaxed places just out of the heart of Colombo away from all the hustle and bustle to enjoy an evening not to mention to absolutely amazing view of the city and its new iconic skyscrapers!

Attended a wedding ceremony in the hotel. Good Sri Lankan food and well arranged.

Had the opportunity to taste seafood cove restaurant only. It was awesome, one of the best seafood experience for me. Excellent environment, right in front of sea beach. The environment, decorations, placements of everuthing compliments the great taste of the food, altogether makes it a remarkable experience. Anyone visiting Colombo should try sea food cove of mount lavinia, and im sure no one will regret.

Claimed that it is 5 stars but there was a lot very much broken and very unfriendly. Such a shame 5 years ago it was still a super hotel now the past glory is really a shame

Came here to have dinner at Governer's Restaurant. Although, the restaurant is not very big, the location is exotic; on the beach and very lively. Staff is courteous and building has an old traditional look of British times. Lift is of old style.

Food, service and view were all pretty awesome but the place can do with a bit of renovation, especially the old building at the entrance. It s beginning to smell old, despite stunning colonial architecture.

Ole style charm! Wonderfully located. Room ok, but not very clean. Good service and great buffet. Unfortunately, the offers of the hotel are not well signposted.

The place is wonderful and distinctive and wonderful views of the ocean drink cold and hot, reasonable reception wonderful and noisy Sweeter Mnio for orders and most of the average price and there is a clarification below the menu of foods that contain pork and cooked with wine and warm and vegetarians

Very nice place to stay in Colombo.
We stayed during New year and wow we really enjoyed the New Year Gala Dinner (which was expensive - 100 USD per head and compulsory for any guest staying there wether you want to the party or not).
Rest of the stay was nice.
Check for compulsory supplements before booking your stay.

Rooms are clean and view is awesome for a weekend getaway

Located on Mount Lavinia Beach, the hotel is 20-minute drive from the National Zoological Garden in Dehiwala. Driving from Bandaranake International Airport takes an hour and 15 minutes.

Fitted with dark wood furnishings, air-conditioned rooms have satellite TV and tea/coffee making facilities. The private bathrooms offer a hot shower and Ayurvedic toiletries. A dental kit is provided on request.

Guests can visit the beachfront CocoSpa for a massage, or relax in the outdoor pool while younger guests play in the children s pool. A gym and game room are available. Other facilities include 24-hour travel desk, a shopping arcade, and a business center.

Fresh seafood can be enjoyed at the beachfront restaurant. International buffets are served at The Governors restaurant, while The Terrace offers local and international dishes.

Lots of offers. A provision for breakfast and lunch with huge variety of foods and appetizers only at 1900lkr i.e. 15 USD which includes swimming pool also.

Nice and historical place..(former Governor was British era Thomas Metland's Residence )now Mount Lavinia Hotel..!. very Close to nice beach and railway station.

No access to the beach always closed dull area check in was slow but the food is great and has its own fish market.

Lovely place, good food. Try out the international buffet with more varieties. I don't recommend their Italian buffet unless you love pizzas.

Ideal location for weekend day outing with family and friends, enjoyed buffet and swimming pool. Worth for money.

It's most popular place in sri lanka and it's 5 star hotel.

We did not stay here but ate several times and it was excellent.
The building needs a bit more TLC but still impressive.

Old Colonial hotel. Mostly famous for wedding receptions. Tourists are coming for its environment. Beach is beautiful.

Hotel located on top of the rock in the beach shore. Nice hotel, and the sunset view is amazing from the poolside. Rooms are not that great but still has a very good ocean side view.

Very popular and worth seeing hotel. Good starting point for round trips or excursions. Food is plentiful.
