The colonial touch is so attractive. The washrooms are large and classy. Once you go inside this hotel, you will feel like you are living in colonial ages. Food is not very delicious but ok. You must try this place at least once if you have heard about the love story of Governer Mateland and Lovina Alponsuwa.

Simply yes. Yes. Yes. Go here for an extensive buffet spread for lunches and dinners with different cuisines each day of the week. Great service. Spectacular views. Just go here people. Trust me.

Fantastic view , good facilities, good food. Staff members are generally courteous, a little more positive attitude will go a long way in enhancing the guest satisfaction. Wifi is fast enough in the rooms, but does not cover the functon location sufficiently well. TV channel choices in the rooms are good, but TV itself may require a change due to aging. Overall, we enjoyed our stay

Magnificent hotel wonderfully located right on the edge of the ocean. The staff could not have been nicer. The buffet-style food was delicious and offered a huge choice. Probably the best hotel experience we have ever had.

We enjoyed the evening buffet. There was a large variety of dishes, all delicious especially the Sri Lankan curry dishes. We sat outside on the veranda with the view of the sea and beach with the lights of Colombo city in the distance - a truly wonderful location and experience. Magical.

A hotel with history and stories. With private beach and pool. The sea is still clean. The service is very general. The room is old, the central air-conditioning is very noisy, living in 343, next to the air-conditioning unit, the noise is louder at night, and can't sleep at all. Negotiating with the hotel, the hotel said there is no way. Giving a star is a story of history and love.

Awesome Hotel, nice peoples, comfortable rooms and excellent service. We stayed one week there. Enjoyed the daily breakfast on the terasse and the beautiful beach. Hope to be there once again

There are a few beach side restaurants which have tasty food with affordable (not overly priced) prices. And no other hotel in Sri Lanka - to the best of my knowledge - has such a nice , clean beach.

However the pool side restaurant were too expensive. Didn't try the food to comment

Used the pool. The pool boy was nice and helpful but they didn't have soap and shower gell. When requested for this simple thing they took over 20 minutes to bring.

However at RS.1000/- per person to use the pool, it was quite affordable and cheap.

We had such a terrible experience while in quarantine at this hotel, It was my mother and I we paid a total of 210,000LKR for the 14 days which is fine but the service was absolute garbage, food was horrendous, the army and staff didn't care one bit. The army was so rude to everyone there, if I had any idea it would be like this, I would have never come even though we came for a family emergency. Avoid this hotel!

Amazing location for wedding shoot. Even I had my shoot here. Hotel is old so don't recommend for weddings. Food is amazing. Has a beautiful beach. A good city hotel to relax yourselves.

Hotel was major let down. We had to change rooms 3 times as first room had cockroaches climbing the walls and a strong sewage smell in the bathroom. The second room was moldy and the ceiling was falling down. We understand the rooms are old as it is a colonial hotel but the state was shocking. The hotel receptionist was dismissive and rude. The general feeling lacked a sense of energy or warmth unlike all the other Sri Lankan hotels we have stayed at across the country which have been amazing in comparisson. It was impersonal, the pool area was small and dirty, very limited number of sun beds for number of guests. Only redeming aspect was the food which was of good quality and range. Definitely would not recommend to others or return. Very disappointed.

We have been to the Mount from 1998 till 2004, now we have come back and where looking forward to a wonderful time there. Since we had our 25th wedding anniversary . I must say we are not disappointed, we are far beyond that. Service is miserable. Some of the staff are arrogant Room is not not done even after complaining . Starting with breakfast .. Tables are not being set. Had to get my own coffee and tea. Today it took 22 minutes to finally get someone to set the table. So after about half an hour we could have breakfast. Also you should watch your cup of tea or coffee because without asking they would put coffee in your tea and tea into coffee .. Thanks great start ... Don't have to mention how fast we got fresh cups .. Actually . We didn't.. At the beach I had ordered a300rupie drink. I gave 1000 rupies and was asked if I wanted the balance . We usually always give tips but that topped it. On Christmas day there was no opportunity to get a snack because of the buffet . There was a lunch buffet available, but hey, as we had to take part of the Christmas dinner buffet.. We and other guests with children just wanted a snack . Today 31st New year .. The beach was set up for a huge party from a private organization . As they installed the music and did the check for at least 3 hours your ears were blown away.. Very relaxing . Not to mention that preparation for this event .. Not for in house guests, took about 5 days and a lot of work was done,. There was material all over the beach., not nice to look at . Sorry to say..good thing's to mention, food, breakfast and buffet is very good . Hang out a sighn if you want your room done... New year party was fun and food was great .

Love it

British Colonial Style property. The lunch buffet was great. Food - wide variety of salads, main courses and desserts. Very friendly and professional staff in Colonial Sri Lanka period garb.
Most importantly, the price was absolutely reasonable.
