International buffet is useless. Food is really bad not wort for $10

A very friendly old colonial hotel with a private beach. Definitely worth a visit.

I recommend The Terrace Longe. The view at the pool is breathtaking. Right opposite the great Indian ocean. Best place to taste the local Lion Larger beer

Food is great. However, I attended a wedding recently and the cut off time was 11pm. They turned off power to the DJ abruptly without any warning. Very unprofessional!@

Amazing place amazing food but service let's the side down. It takes ages go order and the waiters are not as attentive. Once you finally get a waiter to take your order it takes just as long to get the food. So make sure you place your food order well before you get hungry

Noisy due to railroad just near hotel. Waiters' servise is very bad. I understand why service fee +10% is allways add to bill - otherwise nobody pay it.

Mount Lavinia hotel is great place. With good atmosphere for all activities. Situated by the mount Lavinia beach. The food here is extremely good. Specially the buffet. Service is really great. Thumbs up to staff. Don't miss out on going here if you do get the chance as it will be a great experience.

Too full of middle class white folk, pretending they're in India, even for a middle class white person. I prefer a more authentic experience - and staff in old style Indian get up is quite ridiculous in this day and age. Remnants of the Raj....yuk...went there by invitation and although the food was good and blobbed by the pool, after the meal, I wouldn't stay in a place like this.

Have stayed there some years ago, but visited the area very recently. Breathtaking surroundings. This hotel located at the Mt Lavinia area of colombo is a class apart from other hotels due to its service and location. Priced higher due to its service, it gives that colonial British feel. Its surrounded from two sides by the Indian Ocean.
The last time i was there, there were excellent food options and the interiors were classy.
A good stay away from the hustle bustle of colombo if you want some serenity and calm during your trip.

A classic and one of my favourite places on this paradise island.

My favorite place to have a beer and watch the sunset. The seafood cove is one of the best seafood restaurants I ve ever eaten at.

I dont recomend this city hote..! There service is not up to a star class hotel.i spend one night there and all i can say is there service is poor in many aspects...!

One of the very best hotel in Srilanka, Good Food & Colonial View Sea Side.

The hotel is a beautiful colonial place with a lot of history. Said to be the home of a British governor back in the day, the hotel (and its surrounding) is named after his mistress Lavinia. Sunsets at the terrace are recommended while the pool is a nice e place to wind down towards the evening. Recommend food at the "Fish Market" (the hotel's sea food restaurant) which is about 3000 per person.

Great hotel, however they need to get the parking area done up. As there is no proper pathway and you have to walk on a Very uneven path. Parking area is spacious but really bad.....

Dinner at the pool side terrace is always a pleasure at mount lavinia hotel. It has a location that other hotels would literally kill for. The view from the little point that it's situated on provides stunning sunsets and views of the ocean. Food was fantastc and reached us within a reasonable amount of time. The staff were of the old school variety (All smiles) and provided excellent service. Only minus during our visit in December was that there was a pool side performance by a differently able child and the management watched idly as a drunk person continuously disturbed his performance!

The Seafood reataurant was really good. The food came quickly and was excellent. Four stars because:
A. Service was really poor with us having to get up several times to call a waiter to the table. Definitely understaffed
B. Lighting could be better to actually See the food after sunset.
C. Happy Hour doesn't offer any snacks other than French Fries and cashewnuts

what a perfect place. The hotel is amazing. especially the terrace with the pool! The food is OMG! I loved the buffet! so worth it!! it even has its own beach.By far the prettiest near Colombo. It feels like a 5 star hotel. it's huge with a very friendly staff. The direct ocean room was amazing. I loved the balcony and the sound of the waves! Totally recommend it! Whenever I'm back in Sri Lanka I will be back to this hotel.

Had an amazing vegan buffet on Poya holiday there. It changed my views on vegan food. So good!

We enjoyed the evening buffet. There was a large variety of dishes, all delicious especially the Sri Lankan curry dishes. We sat outside on the veranda with the view of the sea and beach with the lights of Colombo city in the distance - a truly wonderful location and experience. Magical.

Very ancient place.A great hotel for occasions.And the hotel beach improves the beauty of the place.

It's amazing due to its rich heritage, but the bed was hard as a rock. Might have been just our room though, since other guests in different rooms in our party didn't have the same issue. The buffet food was average... I've noticed most big hotels in central Colombo don't try too hard to impress with service and cuisine the way hotels in other parts of the island do.

We came for dinner at the poolside. Very relaxing! Enjoyable night with my wife.

Very colonial style. I love the ambience and set up. We can dine in style. Lovely spread of buffet. We had the best ever fish and chips the Seafood Cove. Unfortunetly we had a bad experience while checking in when they could not find our booking. The staff was not customer friendly and helpful in solving our problem. Finally, when the issue was solved after our call to our agent,the lobby manager came apolozing for the inconvenience caused.

Would give it less than one. Atrocious treatment. Would never stay here

Newer rooms are great. Older rooms not so good. Smelt musty and mouldy.

Very historical location with lovely sea views. Large variety of foods at buffet with international buffet in lunch and dinner.

We attended an official company event held in the Regency room. The area was actually a bit too small, therefore even if we went to the very back of the hall, there would still be a lot of noise coming directly at us. In essence, the hall felt a bit cramped. The outdoor pavilion area on the other hand was quite good, since no noise was coming to that area. The buffet was almost all vegetarian, but that could've been due to the selection made by the organizing committee. We had to climb down a step of stairs to go to the wash room, which wasn't actually that much of a hassle. Overall, it was an okay experience. Thanks.

Real good buffet lunches on Sundays. Great Jazz music. Swimming pool. Beach walk or just relax in the lounge.

We had our christmas party there.Superb place. Foods, Services are superb.Staff also good.

The Hotel is very good no doubt about it. But the laundry service is the best in Colombo.

Amazing hotel with beautiful views. They have a private beach although its pretty rough. The food at the restaurant is some of the best hotel food I have ever had.

I was amazed with the arrangements. Welcomed by traditional Srilankan folk dance. Seashore beach hot was decorated with village traditional assets. It was nostalgic. Food was also very good.
