Some areas really nerd to be freshened up but the food their has got back to being superb! Can't say that about the staff though (least wedding banquet staff)

Wonderful place for your any occasion, I took my wedding here and they gave us a wonderful memories, rooms needs some modernization too

Went for lunch buffet (12.30pm - 3pm) at the Governor's Restaurant. Although the spread is not big as other business buffet in Colombo, food was delicious and we'll prepared. Expect to pay around LKR 1900 with tax per person. The old lady who served us was very friendly, attentive and prompt. Value for money buffet in Colombo. By the way they do high tea too 3pm-5pm.

Great food, service and shower, clean and tidy room, good a/c, great views , thanks, would love to visit again if I get the chance.

Very good food, great quality without limits. Normal environment sometimes not very quiet. Buffet reception service, very bad. Reponder service in firm, aggressive (they used to ram you). Toilets ... no comments. A little disappointing.

High tea was good but the ambiance was greater.Enjoy the smell of the sea and the sound of the ocean.

Lovely beach and view. And very good breakfast .Gym and pool facilities are good as well. Very hospitable staff.

Exquisite hotel, food, service everything. We had been advised this was a 3 star hotel when booking but it most certainly in not. This is 5*. It could be suggested the bathrooms are a bit dated but who cares with the level of Service, quality of food and beautiful hotel.
Has own private beach with restaurants beside that is lamp lit in the evenings.

I am lucky that I got a room with Ocean view. I think they favored me when I requested. Rooms are very old but well maintained. I think this hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Sri Lanka. Some say there are ghosts in this hotel. but you can get that ancient feeling inside the hotel. Location is very good. Train station is very close to the hotel. You can walk to the beach and train station in 3 minutes of less.

The best service ever Mr Dimuthu is an excellent operator and very reliable and made our stay both an enjoyable and memorable one.

Its a good place for seafood the waiters are very friendly.

Nice hotel with very courteous staff & local & traditional delicasies in food. Service like free Wi-Fi & adjacent beach are added plus. Rooms are clean & good but not as modern as should be.Health gym is not up to the mark.

Mt Lavinia Hotel is an old colonial building formerly resident of Governor General. The hotel is about 30 drive from city centre. There is train service from city to front of hotel. Staff are friendly ans service if good. The seafood

Well it was back in time exactly 1979, when I was a teenager, I had gone with my family.i landed here at late night when other places were closed, the hotel staff served us on the swimming pool deck, it was wonderful, with the waves lapping & the moon shining plus the cool breeze with delicious sandwiches, it was unforgettable!! Now in my late 50's, I still have the desire to stay at least a night here whenever I get a chance to travel from my hometown of Karachi....

Just had my sister-in-law's wedding here and it was lovely!! The entire staff was excellent and top notch! Rich history in a lovely setting

A very traditional and well maintained hotel.
We have been coming to this hotel for years and been impressed by the food, drink and service provided. The seafood restaurant is exceptional and is located on the beach.
The hotel has many rooms at varying prices depending on the size and views. The hotel is a two minute walk from Mount Lavinia railway station and a short walk from many shops, restaurants and supermarkets. There is a street market on the Galle road every Sunday and there you can find just about everything you need as well as fresh fruit and vegetables. The colourful stalls are great for photos.

Sometimes it's a hit or miss going here, maybe its just me.

Lovely location. Nice appearance and you enter the hotel (would not expect it coming in through the approach road). Lobby area is chaotic when more than 10 people are are around. Beautiful view from the lobby bar, pool and the Governor's restaurant area. Beachside seafood restaurant is a pleasure to dine in. Service at the Governors can be improved significantly. Overall the staff is friendly but can do with customer service training. Tired rooms and very disappointing bathrooms. Overall, rooms urgently need updating, particularly if Mt Lavinia wants to retain its iconic reputation.

It was amazing. The staff was pretty much friendly. The food was excellent and I was very impressed. The night view was magnificent.

Very nice Hotel with great food.

I did not stay at the hotel, I just been there with my family to have great dinner. The price is really not cheap, but the buffet is rich and with a lot of different food.

Also the view is beauriful. You can see from the dining room the Beach and also the Skyline of Colombo.

So over all, for a good day, a good play to be. Expensive but worth it.

Beautifu seaside hotel. Breakfast, Food options are Good. They have direct ocean view rooms which is nice. Rooms are fairly good not excellent. Bathrooms are ok. Has access to beach from hotel. Overall its good option.
