I come to this excellent restaurant from time to time because I love the good air that is characterizes this place. The team is highly welcoming and professional. The service is exceptionally fast. Not to mention, the food they prepare is good. I ate there many times and I was always joyful. The cost is honest. I highly recommend this restaurant to all my friends.
Great food, perfect service. Omakase was excellent. Loved everything on it. The first three dishes were raw fish, then a beverage, then three hot dishes, a small sushi plate and dessert. From memory: tuna tartar, sashimi salad, fish carpaccio in hot oil, apple cider soda, black cod, poached lobster tail, Australian wagyu beef, 5 piece sushi plate, and Japanese cheesecake. The only comment I might make is that they were all very safe choices designed to appeal to a broad range of people. Nothing experimental or unusual here, just high quality ingredients, presentation and preparation. I saw the same dishes go by our table several times, so others got the same thing. It might be cool to have some more experimental dishes as an option too, or an all-sushi option. In any case, it made for a memorable and pleasant evening.
way to overpriced if that restaurant want's more consumers they should lower there prices
After a long day in Philadelphia, we were very excited to end with a meal at Morimoto. It very nearly met our (admittedly high) expectations, but missed on a few notes.
I will start off by saying that the service was excellent, and the pacing of courses was spot on. But, we have a minor gripe in this regard: when making our reservation and asking about the tasting menus, we wanted to make sure it was realistic to finish the 8-course meal in two hours. We had one more thing to do in the city after our dinner, so asked three separate times if this schedule was realistic, and were repeatedly promised it was. Of course, it took 2.5 hours and we had to rush out, leaving a bit of dessert on the plate. We understand that there's a structure to tasting menus like this, but more transparency up front would have helped us plan properly.
With regards to the meal itself, we ordered one of the traditional tasting menu, and one of the seasonal, sharing each course between the two of us. Really wonderful variety! I had what I believe to be the best pieces of fish I've ever had, anywhere (one of note was a cut from near the collarbone of a fish if I recall... But all filled the mouth with wonderfully smooth, clean, flavor). There were also amazing fruits and other items bursting with flavor that closed out each course - remarkable and unique food.
I also got the flight of Morimoto beers (made just for the restaurant by a brewery in Portland, OR?), and these were among the most flavorful, complex, well-balanced beers I could imagine. With a quick sniff, the beers could pair with the different courses, complimenting and not overwhelming them at all. Excellent beers!
All things considered, nearly every bite and every sip was delightful throughout the full experience.
However, two parts of the meal stood out for their deficiencies.
In the middle of the tasting menus, a "palate cleanser" of sorts - a citrus/ice dish - was brought out. It was so bright, so intense, and so lasting that the following course for both of us was ruined until the flavor finally dissipated. We could only enjoy the last few bites of the following course... Which was really great once we could taste it! But it informed the flavor in a bad way for far too long. We both said after the meal that the course imediately following the palate cleanser was our least favorite.
The other negative came as a shock: for all of the great things to say about the fish, the rice was, oddly enough, just plainly bad. We couldn't believe that the rice would be crunchy and actually unpleasant in a restaurant of this quality. I don't know if I'm used to "fake" sushi rice and the "real" stuff is meant to be like this... Maybe, but I would be surprised.
I don't think you'll regret going to Morimoto, even with the high price tag. It's a treat! And the interior design is great too. Really an aesthetic experience as well, as each dish was plated beautifully.
What an amazing place and to be able to sit in front of the chefs making delicious sushi was epic. The food was delicate and savory as well as the saki and beer
Excellent sushi and specialty fish. Sit at the sushi bar if you can.
What in the world happened to Morimoto? I've been to Morimoto many times; my first visit was right after it opened and I was blown away.
My list visit, however, was terrible in comparison. (February 2018)
Rock shrimp: ok but it was different than usual and not for the better. Probably the best thing I had.
Otoro sashimi: for $16 you get two pieces about the size of a postage stamp and just as thin. Was it good? Hard to say with something THAT small
Eel/Foie gras: if someone put a blindfold on me I would have said it was over cooked chicken liver. I've eaten foie gras at many fine restaurants, including Le Bec, Gordon Ramsey London/NY, Boston Harbor Hotel, D'Artagnan etc. I wanted to cry in disappointment. The eel was not very good. I spit mine in my napkin.
Filet of Wagu beef: this was a misshapen end piece. It wasn't very tender and with it came a big bowl with about a dozen steamed, unseasoned, whole baby potatoes in a milky white (sauce? Water?).
This was a bad food experience at any price--let alone the price I paid at Morimoto.
The service was top notch, the decor was top notch!
Delicious food, great selection of sushi and sashimi as well as many other menu options. Was very difficult to make a choice on what to eat - the server was very knowledgeable about the menu and was very helpful.
Dropped in on Tues. The service was very friendly and attentive. Prices that won't shock you.
I ordered the lunch Omakase. For 65$ it was definitely worth it. 7 courses of all kinds of sushi, carpaccio, and tartare. Also had some dessert. The Morimoto hazelnut beer was really good. My GF had chicken katsu and a pork belly ramen. The ramen was good. The pork broth was very rich. The whole meal with tip came to $130 for lunch and I'd say it's worth it. Parking was a little difficult to find. Had to park in a ramp and cost $19.
Super excellent place, an attention to the maximum,, super friendly, delicious food, a total cleanness, totally pleasant place.
quite possibly the best meal i've ever experienced. chefs customize each dining experience to make this really something special.
Some of the best sushi I've had and the decor/ambiance is top notch.
Upscale Japanese restaurant owned by the famous Chef Morimoto. The service is wonderful, the atmosphere is great and the restaurant is modern. The Japanese food is OUTSTANDING. Granted it is expensive, I would come back on a nice occasion anytime. Got to have more of that Black Cod, or the omakase, just amazing.
What a meal! Originally, my boyfriend and I were going to go to Nan Zhou for dinner but they had no more hand-pulled noodles. So we decided to go to Morimoto instead. I was pretty amazed that we managed to get in without a reservation, but there were actually several tables available and plenty of seats at the sushi bar. We went around 10:30pm on a Saturday, which is a time I thought would be packed to the rim. We were very fortunate to have gotten a table at this fabulous restaurant and enjoyed an amazing meal.
The interior of the restaurant is very swanky and modern. Dim lighting and trendy decor makes the inside look like we stepped into an ultra hip place, vastly different to the street outside. There's a large sushi bar in the back where you can watch the chefs prepare each sushi painstakingly and lovingly. We overheard a few servers say that Morimoto himself was actually in the kitchen that night but was too busy to come out to the dining area.
For appetizers, we ordered the Kumamoto oysters and the toro tartare. The toro tartare was fantastic. They recommend placing a little bit of wasabi (fresh and housemade) on your chilled spoon and then dipping it into the tartare. Amazing. After all the tartare is gone, finish with the yangmei berries on the side which act as a palate cleanser to the tartare.
I ordered Morimoto's ramen soup and we shared orders of yellowtail and spicy tuna sushi rolls. The ramen soup, while not much quantity-wise, was delicious. So simple - chicken noodle broth, thin noodles, and pieces of chicken - and yet so tasty and perfect for the windy, cold night. Warms you straight up inside and makes you feel like you've been wrapped in a hug. The sushi was also fantastic and you could tell that the chefs really paid close attention to every detail. The rice was the perfect temperature and ingredients were all fresh.
Everything I had here was phenomenal. Oysters were great. Loved the tartare, loved the ramen soup, loved the oysters. This meal definitely deserves 5 stars for the attention to detail the chefs pay to every portion of the meal, for the great service we had, and for the experience.
The food is amazing and the ambiance is wonderful! They space out the dishes nicely so you can take your time and enjoy the dishes.
Finest food, kind staff, consistently excellent ambience. They charge reasonable rates and the food quality is excellent. Highly recommended.
Sushi quality was very good. I've certainly had better though, especially at that price-point. Very expensive, not sure that the experience justified the cost.
Everyone at our table was enjoying everything. I will be bringing friends next time. The bill was fair. Ambience reminds me of Colorado Springs area.
Not just a meal, but an experience in culinary artistry! Well worth the trip.
Food, service, and timeliness of food was excellent. Staff was very attentive. Food presentation and taste was impressive.
Food was superb! Can't wait to go back! Waiter J.D. was phenomenal to say the least.
Amazing omakase. Definitely worth the money. We didnt do the drink pairing but should have. It would have saved money.
WAY over priced for absolute TINY dishes with virtually no unique taste.....
Omakase was 8 courses. 7 of 8 dishes were stellar. Best Black cod I've ever had. Waitress was kind and attentive. Well worth the splurge.
Expensive Japanese food that leaves much to be desired.
There was Sabi rice was very salty and the California the sushi was very good my husband said his food was very good also but it takes a little bit too much sodium in it to me maybe cuz I have high blood pressure so I don't he that much sodium. The staff was friendly the place look good but there was some leaking going on in the roof I wouldn't go back there because they did not have a good menu for people that are vegan or vegetarian.
The dessert, sorbet trio, was fantastic. The fish was top notch and there was a good selection, but I'd say the Toro tartare might be over rated. Staff were phenomenal -- definitely some of the best service I've ever had at a restaurant. Answered questions in a kind non condescending manner before I even asked. Anticipated everything before I did it... Fantastic!
If I hadn't already eaten a big meal at vedge I would've done omakase for sure!
This location is one of my favorites. I will be bringing friends next time.
What a cool place! Took my 14yo daughter for her birthday. We had wonderful mocktails and a giant plate of fresh and delicious sushi! Service was impeccable.
Would definitely return.
Great food, drinks and atmosphere, but we had to wait 45 mins to be seated after our reservation time.
I will be back with my coworkers. It has an awesome feel to it.
Exquisite. Really should be tried once by anyone who enjoys Japanese food. You MUST do the omakase.
First time here, celebrated my son's 19th birthday. The appetizers were so yummy they never stood a chance at a photo op. The sushi was clean, fresh and delictable. I had never had wagyu beef and I have to say that was tasty as well. I had the rice bowls with the yellowfin, which was very yummy. But honestly what stole the show was the Duck Duck Duck! My boyfriend and son had it and it was out of this world, melt in your mouth, send you to heaven kind of thing. Our waitress Federa (spelling) was very sweet, compassionate and kind and answered all of our questions as this was our first experience with Morimoto. Thank you Federa, for being beautiful, kind and for just being you and making our dining experience an amazing one. Ambience is fabulous, but definitely make reservations! This place gets super busy, plan ahead. Be patient with valet, great service but may have to wait a few minutes as it can be a one time show. Just take some deep breaths . Overall wonderful experience, and we will be back for the Duck Duck Duck! Oh yes, and that fiery chocolate tart!
Must admit, a visit to a Morimoto restaurant was on my bucket list. No disappointment. Sitting at the sushi bar was an absolute delight. The appetizers were perfect and the fish, fresh and perfectly presented. Yes, the decor could use a reboot but we were there for the food. Thank you Chef Morimoto.
Spent our 10th anniversary. Great choice. Wonderful staff. Spicy tuna was amazing. Loved everything about our meal
Yummy. Amazing. Get a seat at the bar if you can't get a table!
I loved Morimoto! While it is on the pricey side, the food is delicious and the decor is a feast of color and light - quite beautiful! If you don't want to part with a lot of cash, go during happy hour to the bar upstairs. It offers a bird's eyeview ofthe restaurant below and is more casually decorated and very relaxing. A good thing to remember is that sometimes Morimoto participates in restaurant week (which happens twice a year), so you can could check out this normally pricey restaurant at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend it!
We had the tasting menu and it was a lifetime experience. Just totally amazing. There is a reason he is an iron chef.
The space is fantastically designed, and more so impressive that it has been around since 2001. The lunch set is priced well as it comes with a salad and a soup that can subbed for a ramen. The tempura and chirashi were decent but not particularly memorable.
good place to catch up with friends. the service here is better than most. prices are fair i would say.
Morimoto is a very nice place with an awesome environment. The service Is incredible and the staff is really friendly. The food is very good for the most part. The reason I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 is because the meal sizes are extremely small for what you are getting. So we had to order a decent amount to be full after the meal but it's not cheap it adds up really fast. But overall it's a great experience. Recommended
Amazing. We had the tasting menu, and they were able to change out some options to accommodate a shellfish allergy.
Loved this place. The sashimi was excellent, I loved the sake flight and the dessert was also delicious. In addition there is a lovely ambience, candle shaped lights on the tables, and comfortable booth style seating for parties over 2.
My whole family ate from there and guess what we all got intoxicated. I have no idea what kind of food they serve there but it is not worth it. I had really bad stomach aches and it wasn't even that good and also very expensive. They basically stole my money and got me intoxicated. Do not reccomend it at all!
I really liked the environment of this restaurant. The server was lovely, and overall the vibe was very relaxed. I tried the chicken ramen, and the noodles were so fresh and chewy, i really enjoyed it but the broth and chicken itself I would give a 7/10 - it was just chicken noodle soup with fresh noodles lol, my boyfriend and I both had the "duck duck duck" duck fried rice with duck egg and duck on the side. I really enjoy duck, but it just wan't "it" for me or my boyfriend, so that was disappointing. I think it was just a preference thing (for us and our taste buds) which is why I am only giving it 4 stars instead of 5. The dessert was awesome. we had the flaming chocolate tart and it was so yummy and fun, the only downside is that the ice cream that was inside the ball was like a teaspoon's worth lol. It just wasn't enough for the amount of chocolate that was provided. BUT nonetheless, it was Delicious. I would not come back personally, but I would recommend it if you are feeling adventurous!
Great japanese food beautifully presented. From Sushi to Poke bowls, I haven't been to many restaurants that offer a finer dining experience. We had great service, great tasting food and saki and a wonderful environment to eat in.
It s pricy but worth it, i ordered spicy king crab for the appetizer and it was so good. For the entrees i ordered wagyu beef steak which is also really good, it s not the same like other regular beef. Wagyu beef is really live up to the name, not mentioning they marinated with a tasty and savory sauce. Two thumbs up for morimoto
Absolutely excellent service, but probably because it was very busy.. It took almost 40 min for all the appetizers to appear.. It took an hour for our 6 entrees to show up.. The fried eggs for the rice dishes had gotten old & cold. Could have been so much better..
food was super flavorful. certainly worth going back to. prices were appropriate. menu is like a place in miami i enjoyed
The chef's tasting menu offers a surprising variety of both cold and hot dishes.
The ambience was definitely on point, but we found the sushi was profoundly disappointing.
An absolute must. Go for the omikase and drink pairing. Expensive? Yes. Worth every penny? Unquestionably yes.
This is an out of body dining experience. #isthisheaven
I love this place. I will probably become a regular. The place has a good atmosphere.
A horrible experience all around. I came to morimoto because I was visiting Philly for business and trust the Stephen Starr brand. Being from Miami, I am a regular at Makoto in the Bal Harbour shops and have had great experiences at Starr restaurants throughout the nation. Given that I trust the brand and the establishment had great reviews I opted for the "Classic" Omakase experience. Having dined at some of the best sushi establishments in the NYC and Tokyo an Omakase experience is traditionally mostly sushi (the highlight of the experience) and a few other dishes. However, at Morimoto a "Classic" | "Omakase" experience is very different. The courses started rolling out: a tuna tartare, a sashimi salad, some weird "tiradito" type dish, and then some seared salmon. Where was the sushi?! At this point I thought to myself "there couldn't possibly be any more hot dishes coming" and then moments later a skate fillet and "palate cleanser " arrive at my table. I didn't eat them and explained to my server that I was expecting sushi and sent back the skate, he came back and told me that the they would cancel the next hot course (REALLY 4 hot dishes) and make me more sushi. More sushi was 14 pieces. Following the sushi came dessert.
When the check arrived I was really upset. I sent (2) courses back and was charged the full $100 for the "Classic Omakase" experience. I am not tasteless and don't go around looking for freebees, in fact I rarely complain about service in a restaurant, but having worked in fine dining for years I was well aware that this situation warranted some form of discount. I spoke to the manager, expressed my concerns about the horribly misleading menu (CLASSIC OMAKASE is not what I got) and he merely suggested that I should have asked my waiter before I ordered it. He did nothing to rectify the situation and was incredibly condescending and rude. I guess no one ever taught him that you should, at all costs, avoid letting a table leave unhappy.
Overall this experience was a HUGE let down, I go to STARR restaurants because I trust the brand, because I know that I will be taken care of. This restaurant does not reflect the quality that I know the STARR group to produce and it is disappointing that this manager was willing to jeopardized my loyalty to the STARR brand. I have spent thousands of dollars at STARR restaurants in Miami, at the very least he could have offered to knock off 10%. All in all I ended up spending $240 on mediocrity at Morimoto. Stay away!
This is the worst, rudest service I have ever encountered at any Disney World establishment. Advertised menu items were unavailable. Oh- and RUDE staff. Off the charts rude.
Amazing food and phenomenal service. Everything we ve tried here has been out of this world good. We had a small issue with one of our meals but they immediately fixed it and were genuinely apologetic.
I am new to Japanese food, and this was the best experience for a newcomer. So much flavor and Tuna was perfect. I will return here again.
Most amazing sushi and Waygu steak with a delicious dessert to follow. Worth the money for sure.
I ordered the omakase which was spectacular and very filling. The sake we had was an American one and was quite nice which was unexpected. The wine was pricier than most, but I was able to find a nice bottle that complemented the meal well without breaking the bank. Service was very good. This was my second visit to Morimoto and I am looking forward to the third.
An excellent place that is a cut above the rest. The experience was amazing and the decor is spectacular.

We ordered the omakase and at least three times exclaimed, this is the best fish I've had in my life! The beer was excellent too, which was an unexpected bonus. The server was extremely cordial and the design of the interior kept revealing more surprising details the longer we stayed. Overall a feast for all the senses.
OK, so it's what you would expect from an esteemed Iron Chef. The food is sublime, and I like to order the tasting menu as it provides a tour of the creativity these wizards possess. Atmosphere is great, and the service is on point. If you like Japanese cuisine then treat yourself.
One of the best meal of my life. And I've eaten at alot of the nicer restaurants.
Love this place. Great quiet bar upstairs with fabulous drinks before dinner. Dinner was superb: service, presentation and quality of food all top notch as was the ambiance. Waitstaff was outstanding.
Loved the ambiance! Our waitress, Christine was fun and knowledgeable about the dishes. We started off with a refreshing cocktail that had cucumber and Thai Basil. Our appetizer, which was large enough to share, were the mushroom dish. Our entrees, were the Cod Filet with Miso, and my honey got the seafood pot in a buttery white wine broth. (I forgot the actual dish names.)
Amazing food and our server Christopher was very helpful
Wow. Morimoto's had been on my list for a few years now. It was a cool winter's day and I was in search of a good bowl of ramen for lunch and was eager to try the one at Morimoto's. However upon being seated I quickly changed my mind and went with the lunch omakase for $65, and this would be my recommendation to anyone visiting for the first time.
Each plate that came out, out did the previous one in terms of presentation and taste. The wait staff was super attentive and extra helpful in identifying the contents of my plates. The plate that stood out to me, was the fried cod - truly one of the best fish dishes that I have had in a long time.
Will I be back ? Of course I will.
First time I ever tried Sushi. I was a little nervous but it tasted great.
Great location to chill, eat some good food. The service was very friendly and attentive.
Wonderful food and staff!!! Exceeded expectations...
I tried Morimoto after receiving a gift card. We went in expecting a lot, and they delivered on most everything!
The Sushi Pizza appetizer was the best thing we got. The other food was cooked perfectly, but still did not blow us away. It was VERY good food, but I did not feel that it was worth the price.
The wait staff was great. Always nearby, always refreshing drinks, but never annoying.
The decor was interesting. Cool, but weird at the same time. Their lights were quite phallic!
Overall, I am glad I went and experienced it, but I don't think I will return simply because of the cost.
Excellent Japanese cuisine that is more art than food.
Always excellent, especially the chicken miso soup and the tuna tartar
Everything was super professional from beginning to end, and the staff were super courteous in taking care of us too. We had a reservation but tables were not clearing up for another 45-50 minutes which was kind of disappointing, but it was made up for by the service. And the staff: extremely professional, and super courteous. This restaurant is a .
Great atmosphere - loved the interior design. The sushi was so-so, as was the ramen.
I've been to this place for so many times.
I absolutely love this place.
Such good food, such good drinks.
Probably the best place to hangout.
I usually go here with my friends for some dine-outs and parties.
The happy vibe of this place makes it a really good experience.
