One of our absolute favorite restaurants in the city of Philadelphia. The best sushi you will ever eat, and everything you hope to expect when fine dining. Every detail is covered when you are at Morimoto with a great staff, drink menu, and delicious food. We give Morimoto one of our favorite restaurants (not just in the city, but the entire country/world) 5 stars!!

Perfect lighting upstairs. Manages cozy and elegant. Worth every penny. Generally requires a reservation for downstairs. . .but upstairs doesn't disappoint for couples. Shrimp, chicken, mushroom broth is to die for. Decent sushi rolls. Fruit cheesecake a nice send off.

Best ramen in the area. I've been here many times for different occasions, and while it is very expensive and extremely high quality, the real surprise is the ramen at a reasonable price. Come here for lunch. Eat ramen, leave happy.

We went here for a dinner and are happy to say that this is one of the best sushi restaurants we have ever been to. Incredible food, European portions though. You'll need to go through multiple appetizers to satisfy your American appetite!)))
Highly recommended!

I have always been so curious to see what the restaurant of an Iron Chef would look like, and to see and taste the quality of the food and presentation. Now I have been fortunate enough to roll sushi with Chef Morimoto in New York and to visit his restaurant in Philadelphia. I have to say I am thoroughly impressed by both restaurants and by him as a person. The food was beautiful and well prepared, especially the pork belly ramen... with bold flavors and variety of textures, a stunning presentation. The restaurant decor is modern looking and maybe a nod to what a space like this would look like in Japan. I feel so lucky to have experienced the chef s restaurants and also to have met him, thank you for two awesome experiences!

I went here to try a different take on Japanese cuisine, and may have walked in with higher than normal expectations given the name recognition.

It's located right in Center City so I would recommend to plan for parking. I parked a few blocks south and walked to the restaurant. Otherwise, they do offer valet service for $15.

The inside ambiance was very hip and trendy with low lighting, and modern aesthetics. The seating seems purposely done to be closer to the ground as is typical for traditional Japanese meals.

We sat in the upstairs room which was more secluded and allows for better conversation.

I started with the mixed baby greens as my appetizer. It was served with a yuzu vinaigrette. I thought the dressing overpowered any freshness from the greens. I found the dressing to be quite tangy, and I didn't end up finishing the dish since each bite was becoming more dressing and less greens. In hindsight, I should've asked for the vinaigrette on the side since I tend to not enjoy too much dressing on my salads to begin with.

For my entree, I ordered their ramen bowl. This was pretty good! It was made in a vegetarian broth, with lots of veggies and noodles. I had asked for hot sauce, and it was served on the side for me to add in as necessary :). I thought the dish was hearty and I liked that I could spice it up with the hot sauce at my leisure. I don't think there was anything special about this ramen bowl versus others I've had at different places, but still a decent option.

For dessert, I got the mango pudding! You can definitely taste the mango, which I liked. The presentation was in a popsicle form and I think it works nicely on how it's meant to be eaten. There is a creamy center and the outside edge is more tough - allowing you to mix the hard and soft in one bite! The fruity notes and the fresh undertones are captured well in the dish - very enjoyable!

Overall, I think this is a nice restaurant to try out, but no need to rush back anytime soon. I think you can probably find similar fare elsewhere at half the price.

One of the greatest sushi places that I've had the pleasure to eat at. Had some of the finest chefs, great atmosphere and extremely clean. I eat a lot of sushi and this by far the best I've ever had.

Had the 45 dollar sushi platter. It came with 15 pieces of sushi. Very tasty and very diverse. I have not had that many diverse pieces at once before. Recommend the sushi, but the hot entrees looked even better.

The atmosphere was very nice too. It had a very modern look and very colorful inside, with changing lights. Restaraunt is about 16 years old.

Place has really changed since the Iron Chef himself is no longer there. I found the food to be no different than any sushi place around, even in the burbs. Just a lot more expensive with significantly tinier portions.

Parking is ridiculous around here, and PPA stalks like vultures to ticket/tow for even the tiniest of parking infractions. Last time I ate here, I left the restaurant to find my car had been towed because literally TWO INCHES of it was in front of a rather open for interpretation handicapped parking space. That, combined with spending two hours at Morimotos and still leaving hungry, is reason enough not to return here.

If you could order anything...I'd order everything. The specials are always from Japan unless something superior is deemed suitable for the day. Seating is wonderful though a little less modern these days, but the lighting is very sensual/comforting. Great for special dates and groups, as it's no sense not trying it all!

Solid 4 stars, if you enjoy seafood this place is for you, I tried deferent meals , some flavors where good some where normal home cook flavors. I was expecting more for this caliber restaurant. I don't think Morimoto himself would be pleased here. After watching his style of cooking. I know this is a seafood restaurant and I venture to tried the other items in the menu . (NY steak and the Duck) the steak was fried.. I was disappointed the duck was lacking in flavor I was not impressed.. I was expecting more in all aspects of the menu. The ambiance is very modern, staff is friendly, the kitchen staff had hats on .... I didn't like that, not in this restaurant at least . I don't want to sound like I dislike the place but not what I hope to be. Good for parties , casual dinner , dates . The seafood is very good, the rest of the menu lacks flavor.

Always a good experience at Morimoto. The $75/person tasting menu with sake is really good but not enough to fill you up. Plan on ordering a few more things a la carte as well. The rock shrimp and wasabi rice were a good addition. Plexiglass barriers were in between all the booths. Servers had masks and face guards on as well. We will definitely be going back!

Waitstaff was good. Shrimp tempura appetizer was not butterflied so still had sand and digestive tract debris in it. Very disappointed because had high expectations going in. Sushi was good and fresh. Mixed drinks tasty.

As always, Morimoto delivered the best dining experience. I went there for lunch on a snowy day couple of weeks ago, and had the Chirashi and O-toro. The sashimi was just delicious and the service was impeccable.

Ishi yaki bop- a rice dish prepared in a very hot river stone bowl with yellowtail $29; hamachi ponzu appetizer for $20, a yellowtail- scallion roll $9, and Kirin light beer. Total without tip was $71.44. But everything was delicious and the service great. During COVID you have sidewalk seating and that was the only drawback.

Really great service. The salmon carpaccio I had was okay but it was a little underwhelming. The flavors were a bit too oily and there wasn't enough of the yuzu flavor or acidic kick I was looking for. The seasonal sashimi combo was amazing More

Yummy food. First time I went here I got the omakase with my mother. The staff was friendly and explained each dish to us clearly, it was very delicious and filling, too, with a variety of preparation styles and flavors. They were also very conscious of our pacing with the meal and brought courses out in a timely fashion without rushing us, which I enjoyed. I also went there with my boyfriend for ramen, which was also very tasty and a quick meal
