I got non sushi dishes so maybe my experience was skewed. I was not impressed by the dishes. Either too bland or an odd after taste. Wasn t a fan.

Simply amazing! I swear I've never had better food!!!
Delicious food and great experience. For those on a tighter budget, lunch has more affordable meals with lenty of great and equally delicious items!
Tried this place in the past with a friend and I am obsessed since then. I liked the good ambience and delicious dishes and beverages. Kudos.
Great looking place, food is good American / Japanese fusion but not the best I had.
Really good food. Great health standards and Covid stuff. We have terrible deadly alcohol allergies and they we re reassuring with whether the dumplings had it in it or not.
Great food for a fun night with you significant other. Like most Steven Starr restaurants it has unique food and drink options and a relaxed atmosphere.
Went for a work lunch, great service, awesome food!
Sit at the sushi bar, go with the sushi/ sashimi chef combo, have some Otter fest saki, couple of beers, enjoy the view. Awesome! Service is outstanding.
One of our absolute favorite restaurants in the city of Philadelphia. The best sushi you will ever eat, and everything you hope to expect when fine dining. Every detail is covered when you are at Morimoto with a great staff, drink menu, and delicious food. We give Morimoto one of our favorite restaurants (not just in the city, but the entire country/world) 5 stars!!
Perfect lighting upstairs. Manages cozy and elegant. Worth every penny. Generally requires a reservation for downstairs. . .but upstairs doesn't disappoint for couples. Shrimp, chicken, mushroom broth is to die for. Decent sushi rolls. Fruit cheesecake a nice send off.
Best sushi I have ever had hands down! Would give it a Michelin star if I could
Best ramen in the area. I've been here many times for different occasions, and while it is very expensive and extremely high quality, the real surprise is the ramen at a reasonable price. Come here for lunch. Eat ramen, leave happy.
Fantastic meal, tasting menu with the tasting sake' paired with it. Great ambiance and service was impeccable
I visited Morimoto on a trip to Philly one day and was blown away at how awesome it was. I had the omakase menu when I went and I would recommend it to anyone who visits.
As always, when it comes to Stephen Starr you know you won't be disappointed!
Forget about the cost for a moment. Food is monumental.
The waygu dumplings are absolutely amazing. Such a great date night spot.
Superb restaurant from its dishes to its decor and ambiance. First time I've had barracuda sashimi and it was great!
Always pleased when I went there. Expect to pay for it, but you will enjoy it. Was not a huge fan of the courses as much as specific things.
Amazing sushi and great, hip ambiance. Absolutely loved the toro tartare. Definitely great spot for groups or a high-end date.
We went here for a dinner and are happy to say that this is one of the best sushi restaurants we have ever been to. Incredible food, European portions though. You'll need to go through multiple appetizers to satisfy your American appetite!)))
Highly recommended!
Don't like susi or any Asian food but they have the coolest website ever for a restaurant! WOW!
I have always been so curious to see what the restaurant of an Iron Chef would look like, and to see and taste the quality of the food and presentation. Now I have been fortunate enough to roll sushi with Chef Morimoto in New York and to visit his restaurant in Philadelphia. I have to say I am thoroughly impressed by both restaurants and by him as a person. The food was beautiful and well prepared, especially the pork belly ramen... with bold flavors and variety of textures, a stunning presentation. The restaurant decor is modern looking and maybe a nod to what a space like this would look like in Japan. I feel so lucky to have experienced the chef s restaurants and also to have met him, thank you for two awesome experiences!
Amazing sushi as well as fabulous cooked dishes set in a very interesting environment. A bit pricey, but worth the splurge.
I went here to try a different take on Japanese cuisine, and may have walked in with higher than normal expectations given the name recognition.
It's located right in Center City so I would recommend to plan for parking. I parked a few blocks south and walked to the restaurant. Otherwise, they do offer valet service for $15.
The inside ambiance was very hip and trendy with low lighting, and modern aesthetics. The seating seems purposely done to be closer to the ground as is typical for traditional Japanese meals.
We sat in the upstairs room which was more secluded and allows for better conversation.
I started with the mixed baby greens as my appetizer. It was served with a yuzu vinaigrette. I thought the dressing overpowered any freshness from the greens. I found the dressing to be quite tangy, and I didn't end up finishing the dish since each bite was becoming more dressing and less greens. In hindsight, I should've asked for the vinaigrette on the side since I tend to not enjoy too much dressing on my salads to begin with.
For my entree, I ordered their ramen bowl. This was pretty good! It was made in a vegetarian broth, with lots of veggies and noodles. I had asked for hot sauce, and it was served on the side for me to add in as necessary :). I thought the dish was hearty and I liked that I could spice it up with the hot sauce at my leisure. I don't think there was anything special about this ramen bowl versus others I've had at different places, but still a decent option.
For dessert, I got the mango pudding! You can definitely taste the mango, which I liked. The presentation was in a popsicle form and I think it works nicely on how it's meant to be eaten. There is a creamy center and the outside edge is more tough - allowing you to mix the hard and soft in one bite! The fruity notes and the fresh undertones are captured well in the dish - very enjoyable!
Overall, I think this is a nice restaurant to try out, but no need to rush back anytime soon. I think you can probably find similar fare elsewhere at half the price.
One of the greatest sushi places that I've had the pleasure to eat at. Had some of the finest chefs, great atmosphere and extremely clean. I eat a lot of sushi and this by far the best I've ever had.
Excellent food! For almost every dish we ordered, we were all awe by its presentation and its taste. Highly recommended for anyone who want to dine in one of the best restaurants in Philadelphia.
Wow! Some of the best food you will ever eat. Staff is very attentive. Enjoy!
First time there with my wife, just there for their Kobe steak.. really great melts in your mouth.. better than Morton s, Capital, and outback .. has sashimi and some sushi.. don t have my favor Japanese whiskey - Yamasaki single malts 12 year old or 18 year old.. a little too dim..romantic
Had the 45 dollar sushi platter. It came with 15 pieces of sushi. Very tasty and very diverse. I have not had that many diverse pieces at once before. Recommend the sushi, but the hot entrees looked even better.
The atmosphere was very nice too. It had a very modern look and very colorful inside, with changing lights. Restaraunt is about 16 years old.
Love this creative and modern environment for Asian fusion .... Food is incredible and drinks are equally amazing. The ambience is modern and club like.
Place has really changed since the Iron Chef himself is no longer there. I found the food to be no different than any sushi place around, even in the burbs. Just a lot more expensive with significantly tinier portions.
Parking is ridiculous around here, and PPA stalks like vultures to ticket/tow for even the tiniest of parking infractions. Last time I ate here, I left the restaurant to find my car had been towed because literally TWO INCHES of it was in front of a rather open for interpretation handicapped parking space. That, combined with spending two hours at Morimotos and still leaving hungry, is reason enough not to return here.
If you could order anything...I'd order everything. The specials are always from Japan unless something superior is deemed suitable for the day. Seating is wonderful though a little less modern these days, but the lighting is very sensual/comforting. Great for special dates and groups, as it's no sense not trying it all!
Love swinging by to grab some rolls for take out! Quick, friendly staff & GREAT FOOD!
What an experience! Do the tasting menu! You will not be disappointed! Incredible meal! One of the best I have ever had
Excellent. Worth the price. And they light your desserts on fire in front of you..
Incredible dishes, friendly service, modern ambience. Enjoyed every moment of it. Oddly the electronic music fits right in.
Solid 4 stars, if you enjoy seafood this place is for you, I tried deferent meals , some flavors where good some where normal home cook flavors. I was expecting more for this caliber restaurant. I don't think Morimoto himself would be pleased here. After watching his style of cooking. I know this is a seafood restaurant and I venture to tried the other items in the menu . (NY steak and the Duck) the steak was fried.. I was disappointed the duck was lacking in flavor I was not impressed.. I was expecting more in all aspects of the menu. The ambiance is very modern, staff is friendly, the kitchen staff had hats on .... I didn't like that, not in this restaurant at least . I don't want to sound like I dislike the place but not what I hope to be. Good for parties , casual dinner , dates . The seafood is very good, the rest of the menu lacks flavor.
Hottest Japanese place to dine in Philly. Chef's menu is phenomenal.
An excellent restaurant to take a date once a year...Get the chef's course, well worth it. Would recommend to anyone, just don't go too often or you'll end up broke.
I like this place! When I first entered I was greeted with great service and quality food. This is the place to go if you are looking for a good Japanese restaurant in Philly.
No need for words. If you want high quality sushi sashimi theres not too many choices. Morimoto is my first choice
It was really great. Trendy atmosphere. Fun and original food. Nice staff.
One of the best food experiences you can have in the city.
I had an extraordinary time at this place. We loved the great ambience and the menu. The waiters are very personal. I am content we finally decided to eat here.
Always a good experience at Morimoto. The $75/person tasting menu with sake is really good but not enough to fill you up. Plan on ordering a few more things a la carte as well. The rock shrimp and wasabi rice were a good addition. Plexiglass barriers were in between all the booths. Servers had masks and face guards on as well. We will definitely be going back!
Loved the Wagyu Dumplings, also a great selection of refreshing cocktails.
It was nice outside eating, the food was great out server was fantastic will definitely make a trip back there.
Delicious food, attentive service and great wine list
Incredible food, drinks, and service. Pricy, but worth it! I highly recommend the chefs sushi selection, everything on the plate was delicious.
We had the omakase and the food was amazing! The service was wonderful.
Waitstaff was good. Shrimp tempura appetizer was not butterflied so still had sand and digestive tract debris in it. Very disappointed because had high expectations going in. Sushi was good and fresh. Mixed drinks tasty.
Incredible 5 star, gourmet fine dining. Worth indulging and splurging for the good stuff.
I would i liked to give 5 star for delicious food. Great services. Staff were nice.
Worst service ever... hard rice and over just poor quality I got sick from the sushi do not go
Tasting menu is amazing. We enjoyed both available....you WILL leave with no room left. Staff is incredibly informed and pleasant.
Very authentic and phenomenal fish! Best sushi I have ever had! EAT HERE!!! GREAT SERVICE!!!
As always, Morimoto delivered the best dining experience. I went there for lunch on a snowy day couple of weeks ago, and had the Chirashi and O-toro. The sashimi was just delicious and the service was impeccable.
Good food and fantastic service, the outdoor heater made it a perfect night with friends!
Ishi yaki bop- a rice dish prepared in a very hot river stone bowl with yellowtail $29; hamachi ponzu appetizer for $20, a yellowtail- scallion roll $9, and Kirin light beer. Total without tip was $71.44. But everything was delicious and the service great. During COVID you have sidewalk seating and that was the only drawback.
The single greatest meal I've eaten in the continental United States. I had the seasonal Omikaze with the sake pairing. Not just a dinner, but an experience. Simply fantastic.
Really great service. The salmon carpaccio I had was okay but it was a little underwhelming. The flavors were a bit too oily and there wasn't enough of the yuzu flavor or acidic kick I was looking for. The seasonal sashimi combo was amazing More
Yummy food. First time I went here I got the omakase with my mother. The staff was friendly and explained each dish to us clearly, it was very delicious and filling, too, with a variety of preparation styles and flavors. They were also very conscious of our pacing with the meal and brought courses out in a timely fashion without rushing us, which I enjoyed. I also went there with my boyfriend for ramen, which was also very tasty and a quick meal
This was the best idea we could have had when picking a Japanese restaurant. The food here is so fresh and tasty I really loved the entire experience.
i enjoy the experience and the food but it good relative loud around 7
The meal was fantastic and did not disappoint. Vibe of a Starr restaurant with exceptional service. Dessert not our favorite but you're not there for that!!
It's expensive, but the food and expertise is worth it.
A legitimate 5 star experience from the ambiance, to the food to the staff being very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone that enjoys Asian Cuisine.
Incredible lunch omakase. Will try to return to try other items on their menu.
Amazing food and service highly recommend the A5 Japanese waygu filet and the waygu carpaccio my favorite sashimi there is the kanpachi so buttery smooth
i give this place two thumbs up. looking forward to going back again. prices are reasonable i would say.
Japanese cuisine would always make me feel better and this place is the real deal.
great place to relax, people watch, eat good food or all the above. had a friend come into town and she asked me to take her here again. this place has many reviews for a reason.
Chef s choice sashimi of fish sourced from Japan was awesome!
