We visited the original Iron Chef s restaurant. The ambiance was nice with a modern look and changing lights around seats. The food was all excellent. From dumplings to edamame to salmon shabu shabu to chef s choice sushi/ sashimi to surf/ turf (Wagyu beef/ hamachi). The only negative was our waiter had a distracting body odor that was noticeable from my entire party of 4, but apparently not from his manager or fellow workers.
Safe outdoor dining. Staff very good with social distancing and also recommendations with the menu. Went there for a bday celebration and they brought out a mini dessert with a candle as a surprise.
Loved this place until a horrible service experience on a 1200$ bill for a table of 4. Plus I ended up getting a bit of food poisoning from the Miso Clam soup.. got sushi and shard every other plate except the clam miso. Had me messed up for a few days. Besides the Wagyu steak, everything else is pretty mediocre for a higher then average price. Deserts are pretty solid and a cool experience too
the ultimate in dining experience in philadelphia. the food is oustanding in qualityand creativity, the staff are more knowledgeable that any restaurant we've ever eaten in and the decor has it's own special charm. wat more can be said
Watched Iron Chef in amazement from day one!!...my experience at the restaurant was Unforgettable ...I never cease two talk about it and spread the word ...The food was incredible!!
it's so delicious. the service was friendly and sociable. the bill won't shock you. i see why this place has a lot of good reviews.
Plenty of vegetarian options and a surprisingly good cocktail menu! Great service. We ordered a la carte. Ramen was great
Amazing atmosphere, delicious food, attentive service. The house beers were a pleasant surprise. Definitely worth a trip.
Food was amazing, service was awesome! We had a great time and would absolutely return!
How could it not be great?? Bring your rings to sell on jewelers row before hand cuz it ain't cheap
Had a wonderful and memorable experience last year celebrating my birthday.
Amazing food. Presented like works of art. We had top notch service in a private room.
A fun and modern restaurant with world-class sushi. You can see and taste the difference from other sushi you may have tried. Thank you, Iron Chef Morimoto!
I am not sure I can describe how awesome this place is. The food is spectacular. Our waiter was from Iowa and we talked of familiar places. If you are here for lunch or dinner, please let the chef choose your meal. I promise it is worth it.
The food was excellent, drinks were good, although the food was surely on the pricier side. I guess because it carries Morimoto's name. Ambiance was also good. But where they shine is the service. Very attentive and knowledgeable staff. There is a commercial parking garage right beside it. Only 2 blocks away from PATCO station at 8th & Market St.
Would surely recommend visiting this place. Great mood, delightful dishes, great service. Keep up the good work.
Quality, quality, quality! Wait staff is very professional and knowledgeable about their menus. The food was very good, and very fresh, especially the sushi. Sushi prices are more than reasonable for how fresh the fish is. There is an enormous drink menu, and I was very happy with the Saki cocktail I ordered. The salmon entree had a very off-putting aroma, and was average at best, perhaps even a bit below. Regardless, a very good experience with a very cool aesthetic from the moment you walk in. Valet parking is offered as well, which is a solid plus.
was really excited to get their sushi but was SO underwhelmed, not sure if it was the time of day, how long the sushi had been sitting out or where it came from but all of it was largely bad :( I was really excited to try an upscale sushi place we normally just get "cheap" sushi so this was a splurge and I don't think I would get their sushi ever again-- for $200/2 ppl and to not want to eat the Uni just... isn't worth it in these times. I prefer Yakitori Boy.
This was fine dining at its best with elegance, modern decor & friendly, professional staff. All our dishes were explained by our servers and the atmosphere's zen was calming. I wish my sea bass was not undercooked but if you do go, they can make it to your liking. Highly recommended for quality & luxury!
Looking forward to returning with my relatives. Prices that won't break you.
If the wait is too long for seating, try the bar upstairs for good drinks (about $12 a cocktail) and some yummy small plate options.
The interior is amazing, service was great and the food is outstanding. Went there for wife's birthday and was blown away!!!
Exceptional In Every Way - From the moment you walk through the front door the experience is enchanting. It wouldn't be difficult to find faults, it would be near impossible. Front of house through back of house are eerily consistent, with each visit matching or exceeding our previous experience.
Across the board things are REALLY expensive at Morimoto. Stay away from their mediocre sushi and go for the cooked options. The unadon melts in your mouth and is worth the splurge. Surprisingly the desserts, in particular the ice cream, are really good. Go at lunch to get the most bang for your buck (or go when somebody else is treating :P ) Basically, a few items are 5 * items but overall most things hover around 3.
Amazing Omakase and sake pairing. Knowledgeable and courteous staff. Worth trying at least once.
I used to live in Philly for a few years and never realized this place was there. The decor is colorful and eye catching. Everything that we had on the menu was fantastic. Yes, it was a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for and it was completely worth it!
Great Japanese restaurant! Looks like a 5 star restaurant and the food definitely tastes as if it was from one!
The food was wonderful. We enjoyed the tofu made at the table.
Wife and I went here for our wedding anniversary and it was nothing but excellence. I had the a5 wagyu Hokkaido snow beef and it was the best beef I've ever had. Tenderness and flavor beyond imagining. The servers were professional and friendly. Definitely worth the money.
Went to Morimoto with my team to celebrate valentines day (nothing more romantic than spending valentines day with your team in a different city). I made reservations for 6 people as that was all they had available, and got the standard calls to confirm my reservation.
We got to Morimoto about 5 min late for our reservation (our party was trickling in one at a time). The place has convenient valet parking, and a very modern architecture. The main dining room is on the first floor, with a pretty cool bar area on the 2nd floor and private dining / bathrooms in the basement.
We sat at the bar waiting for our table to become open as well as to get some drinks. The waiter up there was very friendly and kept checking on our table, but he wasn't having much luck. The excuse the hostess gave us was that we went from 6 people to 7, so it will take longer to get the table ready. I glanced at the main dining area, and I realized that this was a blatant lie - they only have a limited variety of tables, and all the tables that seat 6 people were taken even though our reservation time were a full hour before. To make matters worse, when we were sat down, we were told it will be a crowded table (and they gave us a standard 6 seater table and squeezed 4 people on one side). So we spent an hour and a half at the bar upstairs drinking and waiting for a table to open - we were pretty much the last people to leave the restaurant that night.
If the food was amazing, it might have made up for the service, but the food was only mediocre (the waitstaff were definitely friendly and helpful).
Edamame - Good, but hard to screw up
Rock shrimp tempura - almost like popcorn shrimp but tempura style. Not bad
Seasonal mushrooms - Decent, but nothing to write home about
Pork Kakuni - Delicious, best appetizer by far
Yosedofu - bland, and the sauces didn't do much for me either
Ramen - delicious, a little salty but holds its own to most ramen shops
I got the wagyu ishi yaki bop. The flavor was great, but the meat was really chewy. I expected much better for a $40 meat and rice dish
Will say the Sake we got was great. Very nice sake menu
Special night out? Get the Omkase + beverage pairings. There are three tiers, the last is ominously priced as "and up." Wakatake Sake is as much fun to say as it is to drink. Edmame, rice, or miso soup may have to pass for a makeshift kids menu if you're
Good food, but not for the price. I was left uninspired.
This is my favorite restaurant in Philadelphia. My husband and I recently went here for our anniversary, and we tried quite a few different sushi rolls. The fried rice is amazing. This is the best Japanese food I have ever had. The ambience is excellent.
I was amazed with the experience i had. The place was nice and the way they treat their customer. The food was super delicious and the presentation was also too good. Overall recommended place
I tried this place already with my friend and I am addicted ever since. I love the awesome atmosphere and delightful food and drinks. I recommend this place.
You cannot go wrong with this place. Sushi and drinks were the best I've had. The cilantro jalapeno martini was incredible.
Worth every penny !!!!!! Loved the atmosphere and the staff was great they were super helpful in helping me with my selections I am new to sushi ..what a fabulous place I will defiantly go back many times
Spicy tuna roll is the best! Oysters are very good and fresh. Awesome service!
The food was excellent and sitting outdoors was not bad at all.
This place was absolutely amazing! the food was tasty and fresh. Tried the omakase, and enjoyed every bite of it. The service is wonderful, the atmosphere is great and the restaurant is modern.
One of the most amazing experiences I've ever had at a Japanese restaurant. Highly recommend experiencing at least once in life.
Definitely not worth it for the money. The food is nothing special-none of our entrees were very good, my drink tasted like something from my college days, and our waiter kept disappearing to get answers to our questions when he was clearly just leaving us to wait on other tables.
Exceptional cuisine, excellent service. The chef's choice sushi platter was incredible, as were the appetizers.
normally i would have posted a pic but food looked so good i couldn't stop. the staff was very sociable and kind. i can see why they have so many good reviews.
Sushi, Sashimi, Wagyu dumplings & Black Forest Cake were all amazing! Our server lacked a bit of personality but was knowledgeable enough. Would definitely recommend MORIMOTO to friends!
The food here is incredible, but you'll definitely be paying for the quality!
What a wonderful dining experience! Everything was fresh, beautifully presented and delicious.
Excellent food and service. Interesting decor with color changing lighted dividers between tables and booths.
Unique experience. Small town but A-M-A-Z-I-N-G dinner. Go for the Omasake course, you will not regret.
Over priced, can get better sushi for much less at other local spots.
One of my favorite sushi restaurants in the US! The chef's unique flare for Japanese cuisine and culture stand out in the ambiance and presentation. After dining here a couple times, I highly recommend this restaurant!
Amazing like always, thank you to the executive pastry chef, Veronica Martinez that never disappoints me with her delicious dessert always on point.
The food and service was amazing. Exactly what I hoped and more. Being a fan of Chef Morimoto for years this made a very memorable birthday.
Atmosphere, ambiance, and design was truly remarkable. The food was great, but not world class. Our table service could have been better. One of our guests' coat fell onto the ground a few times, by mistake, and that was just too much for our waiter to handle. He had a really bad attitude. Otherwise, it was a cool experience. Was expecting a bit more, so I give it 4 stars. If you go, swing by the upstairs bar. Really cool little space.
Great proportions! The food was awesome very flavorful!! Friendly staff.
Amazing food and amazing experience. When I walked in the restaurant, I was surprised at the creative decor. The walls and ceiling gave the you the feeling that you were walking into some sort of illuminated and intricately carved cave, with a sort of modern twist. It was very futuristic feeling.
As for the food and drinks, there was a wide array of cocktails, sake, and wine choices, with a few beers available. As expected, all of the menu was pretty pricey but well worth it for the food that was prepared. I would definitely come again!
Went for a belated birthday dinner. Food was absolutely excellent besides a few quirks like lipstick stained napkin and few bones in the salmon.
Even with the accidental bones in the koji salmon I still recommend it. One of the best salmons you'll ever have. The s'mores dessert was also a standout.
Tasty food and the staff was very nice.
would recommend
Excellent menu, delicious food and great wait staff. Lived up to its reputation!
Absolutely perfect! Everything was delicious. Highly recommend you go.
Great date night ambiance, cocktails and asian cuisine.
High end Japanese food. Very expensive and the size is small. Tastes very good!
Morimoto did not live up to the hype or the cost. I ordered the 8 course omakase, and also had two drinks. The drinks were incredible, i had their takes on an Aviation and an Old Fashioned. As far as the omakase (pictured below) is concerned, the sushi was mediocre at best, and the dessert was inedible. The cod was delicious, the aged waygu was very unique, and the beef tartar was the best i've ever had. Everything else was good, but ultimately not worth $125.
I feel bad giving this restaurant 3 stars, but it does not compare to Double Knot. Double Knot's omakase is just flat out better, 12 courses instead of 8, and only $65. If it was better food than DK i could easily give it 4 or 5 stars despite the poor value comparison but the only thing that was better at Morimoto was the beef tartar, and so ultimately, I don't think i can justify more than 3 stars.
I've dined here several times and I easily can recommend this restaurant for a modern take on what America has come to know as Japanese cuisine. Just fantastic flavors expertly balanced, stylish decor, well-trained waitstaff. This has even been a good location to bring kids to. One of my absolute favorite restaurants in the northeast.
Outstanding service and top notch Japanese cuisine. We immensely enjoyed the sushi offering and opted for the chef's choice. Everything was of the best quality and tasted fantastic. Tempura veggies and the cold noodles were also highlights from our meal. I'd highly recommend Morimoto for any special occasion - it was great from start to finish.
Exclusive and excellent food the service was wonderful. Definitely would highly recommend this place.
First off, it's Morimoto's restaurant. And while it's Morimoto's restaurant, it's also Morimoto's restaurant. It's Morimoto's restaurant.
So it's Morimoto's restaurant. It's Morimoto's restaurant. Morimoto is Morimoto's restaurant. It's Morimoto's restaurant. It's Morimoto's restaurant. It's Morimoto's restaurant. It's Morimoto's restaurant.
All-in-all, it's Morimoto's restaurant; do I need to say more?
Great atmosphere, good waiter, good sushi. A little overpriced, but it was good quality and I understand with the whole THING they got going on and the atmosphere they are working very hard to maintain. The only thing that didn't strike our fancy was the following scenario that unfolded... So when our waiter inquired about drinks we all ordered individual mixed drinks but we wanted to expand our sake horizons so we came clean about our sake ignorance and asked him for an honest recommendation... He quickly replied something to the tune of: "Oh, the 'insert_complicated_japanese_name_of_sake' is a wonderful light sake to start your dinner off with and the 'insert_second_name' will be a fabulous after dinner choice" and so of course we said "Ok, sure.. bring it out"... We didn't find out until the bill came that he had recommended a $90 bottle of sake! (Which came up to be about 1/5 of our total bill. We ended up not ordering an after dinner one)
Now, don't get me wrong, I don't blame the waiter at all! We really enjoyed our time at Morimoto, the overall experience was excellent and we DID announce our ignorance of sake and a desire to become more knowledgeable on the matter so I'm sure he was just recommending one of the nicer ones... I just wish he had recommended a couple of options and actually pointed them out on the menu so we could see what we were getting! No biggie though, at least now we can say we've had a nice bottle of sake.. (spoiler alert: to the blind tongue it doesn't really taste THAT much better )
Overall great experience though, thanks for the lighter bro
Very good. First time. Ate at Boca Raton location multiple.times prior and tuna and salmon rolls were much better. Not sure if due to seafood distributor or sushi chef.
The place offers an awesome range of fresh food. I love dining here. The employees are always very friendly, prices are affordable and the spot is always well organised.
Every aspect is well thought out. A lot of attention to detail and a beautiful design for the restaurant! Top quality food. Even the simple things, like the rice, were so well done! The jasmine rice is to die for. I didnt even want to put Wasabi on the sashimi because the fish was so flavorful and delicious by itself!
The interior is beautiful if a little noisy, and the food is amazing. Definitely recommend the omakase with the sashimi upgrade. Everything was delicious and the portions were filling. Each course was perfectly timed as well, and the service was courteous and efficient without feeling like they were hovering around us.
