What in the world happened to Morimoto? I've been to Morimoto many times; my first visit was right after it opened and I was blown away.

My list visit, however, was terrible in comparison. (February 2018)

Rock shrimp: ok but it was different than usual and not for the better. Probably the best thing I had.

Otoro sashimi: for $16 you get two pieces about the size of a postage stamp and just as thin. Was it good? Hard to say with something THAT small

Eel/Foie gras: if someone put a blindfold on me I would have said it was over cooked chicken liver. I've eaten foie gras at many fine restaurants, including Le Bec, Gordon Ramsey London/NY, Boston Harbor Hotel, D'Artagnan etc. I wanted to cry in disappointment. The eel was not very good. I spit mine in my napkin.

Filet of Wagu beef: this was a misshapen end piece. It wasn't very tender and with it came a big bowl with about a dozen steamed, unseasoned, whole baby potatoes in a milky white (sauce? Water?).

This was a bad food experience at any price--let alone the price I paid at Morimoto.
