That being said, it's tasty food. Just small portions and overpriced.

Had to eat after we left. $170 for two people.

We did the Omakase on the first visit and it was five star. The second time we ordered a la carte and it was four. This time was off the menu again. The cod was overdone and the sashimi was average. The only wow dish was the pork belly. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that they put the most effort and best quality into the Omakase menu. Otherwise, the service was good and the ambiance... Well, you kind of feel like you walked into the set of "A Clockwork Orange". Very cool and modern space. Bring your bowler hat and mascara.

A group of friends and I had dinner here for my birthday and I just loved the food. The decor is a little trendy/ weird but the food and drink selections are fabulous. One of my friends who is a vegetarian found this place to be just ok, the selections for her was limited and a little underwhelming. BUT if you have not restrictions and love seafood this is a must try. :)

Excellent place, knowledgeable staff great menu selection and interesting decor. If you go, order the Omikase. Regular menu items are portioned rather poorly for the price, that would be the considerable drawback to Morimoto. Worth a visit regardless.

Not much to say, get the Morimoto Omakase and the Beverage Omakase to go with it. What do you expect from an Iron chef? Really, the absolute best meal of your life! You may want to take a cab or Uber home, since you won't be able to drive!

Take a look at the photos. I was worried that it would be a lot of raw fish but it was a perfect balance of both.

Morimoto was an experience. The decor was beautiful, with soft curves on the walls in the entire restaurant. The lighting was slightly dim, which set the mood excellently. The clear, green-tinted doors made the outside world seem alien (loved it). The service was fantastic. Our server was excellent and very responsive to our needs and desires. We selected the Classic Chef's Tasting with her help. She even diverted courses that came too early if we were finishing up our previous one. The food was amazing. We stuck to the pescatarian selections and were not disappointed. The Classic Tasting menu started with 4 appetizers, continued with 2 "entrees" (not much larger than the appetizers, but so flavorful!), and ended with sashimi/sushi and a dessert. Amazing sushi, sashimi, carpaccio, filets and the list goes on. We sampled tilefish, yellowtail, squid, arctic char, and other seafood, all with excellent texture and flavor. We finished with a delicious cheesecake with a blood-orange glaze and strawberry wine sorbet and an avocado smear. So perfect. Can't wait to go back!

Incredibly overpriced for not spectacular food. Everything was either salty or bland. The sushi could have been from Wawa. Ishi Yashi Bap was delicious but that was the only thing out of 6-7 things my group tried that we cared for. Go elsewhere.

One of the best restaurants in Philly and pretty consistent. They cook tofu table side and sometimes it doesn't work, but usually everything is very consistent. The interior by Karim Rashid is very impressive. A must visit!

You have to dine at Morimoto at least once in your life. The ocean-like scenery is unlike anything I've ever seen. I wasn't floored by the food, but I also am not the connoisseur of Japanese food. So I'll need to do a little more research the next time I pay a visit. Highly recommend for a group hang or a date!

My husband has been wanting to go to this restaurant since he saw Morimoto compete on Iron Chef, I want to say it was about 2001. I finally took him here for his 50th birthday. We ordered the Tasting Menu and we were not disappointed. Every course was so wonderful. The staff was really knowledgeable and so friendly, it really made his birthday so special.

The quality of food was good, but something just was not right. My husband and I went for dinner on New Years. He was finished with 6 courses of the 7 and I had still not gotten my black cod and wasabi rice. Once I finally got my dinner, the rice was burnt and fish was waaay overcooked, even by well-done standards. The waiter explained that the chef knew the rice was burnt before sending it out. Then why would you send it out?? I had higher expectations, especially for the price. Not impressed..

Morimoto is an excellent restaurant. It was the first time I had sushi and a pleasurable experience that entertained all senses. Visually it's futuristic and colorful. The music makes one want to dance as if inside a club. The food is tasty. The wasabi smells hot but isn't as hot as my date made it out to be. We went to celebrate her professional promotion. Our waiter knew everything about the food, and it was his first day as a waiter there, having just had a promotion himself.

Food was AMAZEBALLS. Ordered the assorted Sushi sample, Wasabi rice and the firecracker shrimp. Scump-diddly-umptious. Great atmosphere for a date or a group. Prices are very high but worth the package deal. If your not looking to spend almost 100 pp then this is the the place for you. More of an occasion restaurant (bday, retire, anniversary) etc. The place has a lounge upstairs which looks great for Happy Hour type of thing but not to dine. The bathrooms were neat and clean. Our waiter was exceptional. Will come back again

This restaurant was amazing. Service was great and the food was even better! I ordered the chicken katsu and substituted the soup for pork belly ramen, it came with a salad as well. My boyfriend ordered the omakase, he loved it. It was a 7 course meal with dessert as well. We would definitely go back.

One star for atmosphere. One star for service. Zero stars for the food. Every single dish was bland. The most flavorful and interesting dish was the house salad. Maybe expectations were too high, but he is an iron chef!

One of the best meals I have ever had. I did not know that fish could taste so good. We had the sampling menu. About seven courses. The first a tuna tartar was great another was seabass with a mung bean coating the best piece of fish I have ever had, which was all the more surprising since I thought the same thing about the course before it. The service was great the room was a bit loud but not intolerable.

Morimoto is not to be missed. There is something very early 2000's about the decor. In some ways it has passed the threshold where outdated things start to become enjoyable again. The food and service on the other hand are flawless. For a place that was an icon in the past, it seems to slip under the Philadelphia food scene radar now.

I have been wanting to try this spot for a while so I invited a friend to join me for lunch. As soon as you enter you know Morimoto is special. The decor is modern chic and the service is excellent. Our servers knew every ingredient in every dish we enquired about making our selections less tentative. The yellowtail tartare was unbelievable as was the carpaccio and the wagyu dumplings. We also shared 3 sushi rolls which were obviously fresh and very tasty. We also shared two desserts. The chilled souffle cheesecake was especially delicious. We both had a great time and enjoyed a foodie afternoon. Highly recommended stop if you are seeking finely prepared sushi style food.

I travelled to Morimoto from NC with my mother to celebrate her 60th birthday. We got the omakase. It was pricey, but the service was exceptional as was the food. The kitchen did great with adapting to requests and food allergies. It's too bad that the restaurant is not open for lunch on Sundays because we would probably go again before we had to return home to NC. Thanks for helping my mother have such a special birthday.
