If you want to disconnect and be one with great outdoors, then this one is for you! Such a beautiful place with so many hiking trails. We went there for a day trip and I was in awe seeing nature and the mountain house. You have to leave your car and hike for 20 mins to get to the Victorian castle. They have many outdoor activities and great buffet. Will definitely go there again.

I went to Mohonk Mountain House for a company off-site. It was still a little cold then. The lake activities were closed. Hiking was open. Did a couple of hikes. There was a tough hike between the rocks all the way to the top. This house is where they shot the movie The Shining. The feel is old and historical. I also went for spa. Food was included in the charge. They have good conference halls.

Mohonk Mountain House is absolutely amazing! It has beautiful views from every room and hall. There are lots of places to go hiking, and there are bike rentals with exciting trails. The rooms are spacious and clean, and come with basic shower gels, hair products, and a mini fridge. In my time here, I found no bugs. All the rooms have hand sanitizers and there are hand sanitizer stations placed all around the inside and outsides of the house. The Main Dining Room has varied delicious food options for all eaters. (Vegans, vegetarians, meat-eaters, gluten-free, etc.) It has a 3-course meal. There are contactless QR code menus at each table. The tables are all distanced, and all staff wear masks. The lake is beautiful and fun. There are rowboats, kayaks, and canoes. Life jackets are available! All of the staff were so kind and helpful, and really knew how to get around the huge place. There is a putter field, too. I went to the campfire with s mores, and there was great live music! It was amazing and everyone was socially distanced. I went to the live music on the lake as well and it was beautiful! The beds are super comfortable and the blankets are heavy. The showers are easy to use and warm. Room service is very quick. The pool is just the right temperature. The underwater music is very cool. The movies at night are really good! The breakfast in the dining room is delicious, and I love that I get pastries and banana bread as a starter! The Granary has perfect food for lunch and dinner. The desert stations have pies and ice cream. The Gift Shop has all things from toys to soaps to shirts! The horse carriage ride is very scenic and helps to get a good idea of places to go to while you re at the House. Overall, this place is perfect. It has the views, the food, the fun! I would give the Mohonk Mountain House more than 5 stars if I could!

The property is gorgeous - but... there are so many things to do and the staff doesn't try all that hard to make recommendations to help you get on track. Overall, there is a general lack of thoughtfulness - for example we arrived at noon and no one thought to make lunch recommendations. The experience seems to be better for repeat customers - once you know where things are and what you want to do, the staff's indifference is harmless.

We had some rude encounters too. The team member in the spa watched us like a hawk while we were in the shop. It felt like she thought we were going to shoplift. A different team member on the breakfast buffet line who was preparing my plate rushed me by saying "what else do you want?".

The hotel is really old. Our air conditioner wasn't working and even after the handyman came up to fix it, it left a lot to be desired. Still, I wonder why it wasn't working in the first place - for the cost, you'd expect tighter quality control on that sort of thing.

A big turn-off for me was that there was another guest who was free to walk around without a mask on. He was clearly a regular because he was first name basis with the staff. He was proudly wearing his Trump hat and shirt. Meanwhile, my daughter was told more than once to wear her mask.

The price point is pretty high. The rooms aren't luxurious, the food is good but not memorable and the extras are quite expensive.

Is the second time we spend a day at Mohonk House and this time we had reservations for brunch (Mother's Day Brunch) and I can absolutely say that I would be embarrassed as owner/ chef to serve such a poor menu on Mother's Day Brunch for a ridiculous price (more than $80/ person). It was not only disappointing but the food did not taste that great, meat overcooked and dry, lack of salt or other season (and I'm not a big fan of pepper and anything but it should have some salt at least), the cheese tray was so messy and not well taking care of, no jam or other kind of meats or fruits (I might saw a blueberry or two in the tray) and who serve cakes that looks like it came from a box for dessert? It had no breakfast options (I guess is suppose to have breakfast and lunch options) only lunch and no variety whatsoever, cauliflower gratin, mashed potatoes and chicken with curry are seriously not high end food. The kids menu had pasta with marinara sauce. Disappointing, totally waste of money. For drink lemonade, ice tea and coffee. A glass of champagne for 13 bucks? How about having other kinds of juices, for example? The staff was good and polite, and the place is beautiful, the view in the hiking was stunning as always but do not waste your money with their food.

I am a Professional in the Wine Industry in New York State, and I have NEVER been Treated with such Disdain and Disrespect! The Mohonk Simply doesn't want you to stop by, so DON'T!!!! The picture I attached is me working with Martha Stewart at the Mohonk!

I like this place for so many reasons: the Labyrinth rock scramble, oysters on a half-shell at the buffet, boating and feeding the fish at the lake, rooms with fireplaces and balconies with amazing views, the barn parties with local beer tasting. The spa, however, is just okay. I suggest you skip the spa and go pet the horses instead.

I love the look Of this place, I ve wanted to get married here for years. Finally I am planning and the staff won t even answer me. NOTHING!! After Emails, filling out the website form, Facebook messages, calls with messages. I am heart broken and disappointed to say the least.

The pros: Beautiful property with lots to do (swimming, hiking, tennis, paddleboarding) and great food. The cons: The rooms felt a little dated and the activities were a bit uncoordinated (we waited 20 min for an archery activity and no activity guide showed up).

An awesome lodge with great hiking trails and scrambles.
Unfortunately, the average staff member was rude or indifferent at best. There were certainly great staff as well, but they were the outliers. We even had one staff member say, Just don t tell anyone. I could get in trouble for helping you.
It is unfortunate that such a beautiful, historic lodge is being soured by customer service issues when the whole purpose of a guest lodge should be to make the guests feel welcome.
We would love to return, but we will not because we could never justify paying so much to be treated so poorly.
Management reading this review will probably think that poor customer service is related to COVID, but having stayed at numerous hotels in New England since COVID started, it is most definitely indicative of a deeper cultural issue and should not be blamed on COVID.
Overall, mediocre is the best we can say of the Mohonk experience, and that we won't return.

Such a beautiful place to take a walk, hike, enjoy, relax, breathe, observe, love the nature... I highly recommend to visit both Mohonk Mountain House and the Sky Top Tower. Beautiful views, pure air, great nature... I really enjoyed to visit it when I was in New Paltz. One of the best places to visit there, without any doubts. I wish the best to this space. Highly recommended!

I really wish my review was based on an actual experience at what looks like a lovely place. I called on a Tuesday morning to inquire about dining and/or brunch reservations for the weekend. I knew the chances may be slim, but I was surprised at how inflexible the representative was on the phone. She told me she "...would check but was sure there was nothing available." When she did check and confirmed no availability, I asked her if she would be willing to call me back should they have a cancellation - I also told her we had complete flexibility to eat very early when tables are usually easier to come by or late in the evening. She literally told me that "nothing would change for the weekend." I'm not sure how one knows that in advance barring clairvoyance - my impression was simply that she wanted to get me off the phone and did not want to write my name and phone number down for follow up. She said the "don't do that." I got the clear impression that she did not want to be bothered. I was also told there was "nothing" available for brunch. Anyway, I would have loved to visit and eat at the restaurant. I have dined at some of the hardest-to-get tables in the country's biggest cities, and I'm used to scarcity of tables. What I am not used to is, even at the most inaccessible places, having someone exhibit no interest in helping me get a table or fill a cancelled spot.

The sad and simple truth is that this once state-of-the-art masterpiece has long since become a dump. It's overdo for an acquisition clean sweep of personnel (if there is any more market demand for this obsolete concept). Just like you should never let a jersey jackass tell you he's from NY or some upstate Westchester wannabe claim the city, you shouldn't accept the excuse that poor management, lazy work ethic and culture justify griminess and bad value.

The hotel industry has improved by leaps and bounds. There are infinite old venues that are well-maintained and updated with amenities like wifi, central heat and air. Not Mohonk. Claiming charm is pathetic and an insult to the places that actually take the effort to do charm right.

The area is beautiful. The facility is worth checking out, but not worth dropping one cent on a stay. You'd do much better finding a quality bed and breakfast.

This is like 1970s NYC claiming its decay as grit and charm. Since the 1990s, we've seen NYC done right. One can only hope Mohonk will come around, but don't hold your breath. While some of Hudson Valley has become a regional destination, New Paltz is too far away from the city and too cramped for wilderness solitude. It's the worst of both worlds: bitchy attitudes, nowheresville boredom.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Lunch was a little expensive but still good and buffet is nice. Views are amazing and hiking up to the Ranger tower is a must. Many paths you can take from easy to difficult.

Great place for a day trip. The views overlooking the Hudson Valley are beautiful. Get breakfast and then meander around the lake, walk through the gardens or rest on the Mountain house porch. Just a tad pricey.

This place is definitely a hidden gem. Beautiful place with its rich history and premier landmark location. The nature, the views of mountains overlooking your balcony is just simply amazing. Perfect for weekend getaways or just for a fun family adventure.

The grounds, house and hiking are still great! The reason I m giving just three stars is because I remember what the brunch buffet used to be like 5 years ago. The food selection was great! They had many dishes to choose from that were high quality and the dessert selection was much more expansive. Now I m not saying that the food wasn t good but it was just ok considering Mohonk charges $100 per person! for the brunch which it does include the admin., parking, hike and tea time. $75 per person what it used to be would be more reasonable to ask for the kind of brunch they are offering at this time. Hope they go back to what it used to be.

What a beautiful place! I spent 2 nights in Mohonk with my husband and we took advantage of the day with the most difficult trek - lemon squeeze - and we also rode bicycles rented at the hotel. Here it is not about luxury but nature.

Beautiful location for a wedding! Hotel is crazy expensive, so we didn't stay there, but would have loved to! Love that they have kid friendly options available & dairy free desserts for my little one who can't have dairy! He loved getting sorbet at the ice cream bar & having toppings like his brother. They loved feeding the fish outside & I love that it only cost $0.10 to get fish food! Everyone was super nice. It was a really long drive to get there when you come in.

We got a hiking pass today and there were virtually no one on the trails. It was drizzling in the morning but by the time we started the hike, the sun came out and we got the beautiful blue sky. The views were extraordinary, we took so many nice pictures.

Its not too long a drive from nyc and a fun getaway with trails and hikes...all the Mohonk employees are extremely helpful. The only negative is, I wish the property was more thoughtful about being stroller friendly as it seems to be very difficult to navigate the property with a stroller.

We loved everything about Mohonk Mountain House. Ignore the reviews that say it is run down - this is a very well-maintained, beautiful hotel/resort. The breakfast buffet has something for everyone. Dinner was absolutely delicious both nights we stayed.

My girlfriend and I spent 3.5hrs hiking throughout the preserve in the middle of October surrounded by the beautiful colors of fall. The trails were well maintained and the views were stunning. We definitely plan on making this a place we frequent often.

My husband and I did not stay at hotel. We do not live far and wanted to see the grounds. We were told you must be staying or dining there to enter. What a rip off. $100 per person for a boring, cafeteria style brunch that didn't even include a Mimosa. Although Hotel is in a beautiful spot, the hotel itself feels like an old insane asylum. Don't waste your time or money!!!

Not worth the cost. While the staff is wonderful and the grounds are beautiful, it is incredibly overcrowded, the food is substandard and management has no care for the clientele. If you are not wealthy, do not stay here. Management only cares about the wealthy clients.

Amazing place... From the minute you drive up. Just forget the real world and enjoy.. We plan to return for every season! It's a hikers paradise! It is pricy, but the rates include, breakfast, lunch and dinner and tea & cookies everyday at 4pm. Sounds silly, but relaxing, with views of the lake and mountains, it's spectacular!! They also add gratuities to the room rate, which was a surprise, but no tipping is required, and the service is incredible. There's not a member of the hotel staff you could walk past without them saying hello and asking how you're enjoying your stay. Oh and rather romantic too. Working wood fireplace in the room, private balcony, champagne. Just wow!

Nice place. Furniture kind of uncomfortable. Dangerous drive. Maybe treat the staff in the dining rooms better. Poor kids are probably dying between working and going to school. Was expecting more of a feeling of home, but it was more fancy than expected. Needs more patrol on the trails. What if someone gets hurt?

Amazing
