My partner and I had a wonderful long weekend at Mohonk. It is off season, but there is still plenty of fun stuff to do. The house and grounds are beautiful. The spa and indoor swimming pool are very nice. There is also ping pong, foozball and billiards. Next time we will come in the summer to hike much more of the Mohonk reserve and swim in the lake!

We went to the climb and the lemon squeeze. It is an intense hike and you need to be in moderate shape and be willing to climb. It is slightly treacherous so good footing is a must. It's also a bit pricey at $26 a person. Very fun, most likely wouldn't do again because it is expensive

You must be a guest or purchase a meal or spa as a day guest to enter.
Well worth the time to hike to the tower. Visit the grounds, or mineral soak. Gardens, lake, mountain views spectacular.

Food was outstanding; breakfast/lunch/dinner buffets. My first day there they had swordfish which was cooked perfectly, melts in your mouth, and too many other foods to count at each meal. Lake was clean and beautiful. Hiked the rock labyrinth up the side of the mountain, view from the top was great. Overall, lots of activities available, nice scenery, very pleased.

Beautiful place to visit for a day! Entrance fee was $22, as the whole thing is a private property. Hiking, climbing whatever you want. Beautiful lake and kayaks are waiting for you! Victorian castle - amazing architecture! Turned into the hotel. Most visitors of hotel are older people.
There is also a blooming garden with a lot of flowers right next to the hotel.
Good place to visit with a family or friends!

Beds were narrow but comfy. Great hiking trails, a nice winter pavilion that hosts ice skating, and a Kid's Club from ages 2-12. Lounges were nice and the building is over 150 years old. House tours are available, board games for the Lake Lounge (overlooking the lake), a parlor that hosts events semi-frequently. I was not able to golf because it was snowy, but they do have a spa and a pool. In the Main Dining Hall, there is a buffet with lots of different types of food, fruit, and dessert (including vegan, vegetarian, and allergy-friendly). Most things were included with the reservation. There is a fireplace in each room that you can build a fire in. Also, there was outside basketball courts and an indoor gym that included fitness equipment. All in all, Mohonk is a great place for everyone.

This was a super disappointing experience. My husband and I were gifted two nights at Mohonk Mountain House from my parents and my sister as a wedding gift. My mother told the booking agent on the phone that this was meant to be our honeymoon and they told her that they would make it special for us. The night prior to our arrival, which was November 20, it had snowed perhaps four to five inches. Given that this "resort" is a mountain house which offers various winter activities, we did not foresee any issues. Upon our arrival, we were advised that most every activity for the next couple of days was canceled and trails were closed. We asked if perhaps we could ice skate (it says in the brochure that ice skating begins in November) and they told us at it was too warm and we could not ice skate. The horse drawn carriages were closed, the trails were closed, no fishing was permitted and the daily activities were all canceled. The nightly entertainment consisted of a woman and her hairless cat. The chess game did not even have all of the pieces. When we asked staff what there was to do, we were directed to the spa which is astronomically priced. Why would we want to spend another $400 on a spa treatment when we are suppposed to be getting all of these other cool activities included? To add insult to injury, they charge you $25 a night to put a television in the room - even when everything else is not operational.

To add insult to injury, nobody acknowledged that we were on our honeymoon at any point during our stay.

The food was extremely salty and the dining time very inconvenient. The food in the bar area was delicious, but very expensive. The room itself was tiny and did not have many amenities.

My parents contacted Mohonk staff regarding our subpar experience and, on three occasions during our stay, were told that they would discount the room ten percent each night and they would comp the bar bill and the television, but this took three phone calls. Upon examination of the bill, which they slip under your door at 4am, they did not make good on their word regarding the 10% discount on one of the nights. Also, beware hidden fees in your bill! $1,546.00 for two nights...

My parents spoke to Brian twice and Ms. Ippolito and they both reiterated that the house is undergoing a "transition" but we still don't know what that has to do with the terrible experience. My husband and I attempted to speak to Brian during our stay and he basically told me "too bad."

My husband, my parents, my sister and myself feel completely ripped off and would never recommend this place to anybody ever again.

Just got back from my first w/e trip to Mohonk. Beautiful views but other than that for the price NOTHING to talk about. We went to get massages (completely booked)!! We inquired about horseback riding which was an extra $60 charge (should be included) completely booked. Off to a Great start!! Then did Saturday buffet lunch (ok), then we did buffet dinner (horrible). It was mostly lunch items again & a few different choices. Most of the food was cold. The room we had was Tiny w/pedestal sink, no place to put any of your toiletries. (Depressing). Sunday did breakfast buffet (not bad). Did a hike (that was nice) Got back went on paddle boats (nice). Now time for BBQ lunch, which at this time of year shouldn't be offered at all. It was in the Pavillion (outside of course). Food was absolutely horrible & COLD. You would expect Hamb/hotdogs/ribs to be hot. Then sat inside doing NOTHING until our 3-course sit down dinner. Which was better than everything else. Went to bed by 10pm. Monday morning breakfast buffet & left to go home! For the price you gotta be NUTS. And not anything good included. Sorry to say I will not be returning to Mohonk!!!

I have been dining here at least a couple of times a year for over 3 decades. The experience has become increasingly casual over that time. For example, jacket and tie are no longer required. Fortunately the service remains excellent.

Pricey for what it is. The sit down dinner is hands down better than the buffet. I do feel they need some restoration work needed. For what they are charge you would expect an immaculate setting. Please clean the ductwork in the common areas, and wash the curtains especially in the main dining hall. The place loses some charm and points due to this. I would be more satisfied at $400 per night, not $600. Also the spa amenities are weak.

I really love this place. It s a great place for any season. There s plenty to do and see and a spa which we ve actually never gotten around to. Great hiking trails and a beautiful lake with a small beach. Food is included in room price and there are plenty of options, all of which we enjoyed. Rooms are older but we like the decor and the beds themselves are very comfortable. This place is really quite the experience!

Great family vacation - so much to do! And it's beautiful up here. The resort itself is very good, but there are some small attentions to detail that need tending to that would make it great. But don't let that stop you. Your money is well spent especially when you consider all your meals are included and all the activities that are available and included. Definitely recommend.

Was so unimpressed by this establishment that we didn t even spend the night after dishing out 1200 for one night stay. The room was extremely small with a tiny window , and the bed was not comfortable.
The interior of the hotel needs updating, and there were not enough seats for all
Of the guests in common areas. Overall very disappointed in our stay
Maybe it s better in the summer, but it is still extremely over priced

We drove up today to the gate house, as we had just purchased a second home in the area and been told this place was something special. I had actually been there 20 year ago or so when I was a graduate student on a symposium.

When we drove up a man akin to a carnival barker greeted us and upon us asking if we could speak to someone about the services as the spa or the menu at the restaurant we were told that we were not allowed onto the grounds, nor did he have any information about either the spa services, nor the menu.

We were told if we wanted to speak to someone about either of the above, we have to pay 50$ to enter the grounds.

Mind we, we can afford 50$, but the idea that to become a client of this resort we had to pay 50$ to even understand what they offered seemed a bit odd.

We promptly said, no thanks and were told to turn around and return home. Upon one more try, where I asked "is there no way to see the facilities?" we were told no. I then pulled up on the button to close the window in my, let's just say British made large sized sedan, the carnival barker put his hand in the window stopping it. We were alarmed and our dog started to bark at his aggression.

He then said, "The President of Turkey doesn't even get to take a look before staying here. He just accepts what we have."

So I see. A man who is a borderline dictator, who has killed his own citizens, and is barely considered legitimate by the EU and the US is now somehow being held up as a standard for this place which prevents it from having even the most civil conversation with a potential client.

Let's just say that we wont be spending any time there, and having it as a location for our wedding is out. Especially sketchy nearly illegitimate murderous dictators are the standard client. It is disturbing to think someone like this is in our neighborhood.

We then called their customer service to ask for more information, and the lady we spoke to, again referenced how they host dictators and potentates which prevents anyone from even discussing the facilities without paying the 50$ fee.

Too bad we can see their facility from our home, it now kind of spoils the view.

We went to Mohonk Mountain House for a day trip. Upon arrival, we were told at the gate that for the day trip, we need to park our car at the parking lot near the entrance and hike all the way up to the mountain house using the trail. The lady also told us there is no other option to view the facility other than the hike indicating the car can't be taken inside. We bought the passes without knowing that the hiking trail is not suitable for all ages or persons. As a result, we started to hike but couldn't make it up to the mountain house. We had to return without seeing much. The fact that made me disappointed is that they are selling day passes but not allowing people to take the car inside who are willing to see the facility but not able to hike. They can charge some extra for parking inside but this absolutely makes no sense that hiking is the only way to go inside if you are not staying at the hotel.

This place is the bomb. It was so fun. All the staff were nice, very friendly. I loved the fireworks on the 4th. The food is so good. They had so much food in the buffet. I eat a lot and I couldn t eat it all. My favorite foods were the omelettes, sushi, and the poke bowls. The pool was so nice was heated and had a lane dedicated to practicing swimming. The lake was so awesome. I loved catching salamanders.
Overall review: 5/5
Fun fact: the lake is 45 feet deep!
Fun fact: The lake and rocks were created by glaciers.

Mohonk is a beautiful place, especially in the winter. It has warm and inviting spaces indoors as well as many beautiful trails outside, nearby the hotel itself. I recommend archery or horseback riding if you wish for some variety.

We enjoyed the trails. We particularly enjoyed the rock trail scramble which is similar to the lemon squeeze, but closer to the parking lot. It is technically mohonk preserve though (not private property) so it's not advertised. I wish I knew what the red, blue, yellow destinations and other info on the hikers map meant. There's no key for things like diamond width and color.

What a great weeks vacation. We stayed in a lovely room, had excellent service throughout our visit & the food was excellent. I'm pretty sure the Atlantic is running low of clams and mussels after the amount I ate this past week.

There is plenty to do with younger kids through their free kids club. We basically only saw our child for meals - other than that, he was occupied and had a great time doing activities. The hiking in the area is all fun and there are easy trails and harder rock scrambles. I recommend the Labyrinth if you go here for a unique experience. If you are into hiking or the outdoors, doing activities with Michael (their staff naturalist) is a lot of fun and very informational.

We also enjoyed a couples massage and day at the spa, learned how to throw hatchets, rented boats and found lots of things to do for our week adventure.

It is a bit pricey, but I feel the service, food and experience were well worth what we paid.

Very EXPENSIVE but great place to Vacation with your family or having a special party. The food is excellent and on Saturday and Sunday they have brunch. Valet parking, nature trails varrying on all difficulty levels. Go swimming or fishing in the lake for bass, trout and sunnies. It is catch and release though. In the past you could have the Chiefs filet and prepare the fish you caught for dinner. But, no longer is that an option. At the top of the mountain you can see 5 different states. The views are breathtaking. The staff is great they make you feel more like family then a guest staying at a hotel. For instance you will here employees say welcome to our house. There is a room for Tea in the which is before breakfast. Then a main dinning room and three private rooms for events. Also they have horses here and have one of the biggest horse stables in all of NY. This is the best vacation place to get away from the big cities and technological world we live in today. They do have WiFi you can connect too. But, this is a place that is all about being outdoors. Inside they have a Spa which is very relaxing along with an indoor pool and hot tubs.

The hotel is old, and it shows a bit in places. Wooden stairs creak, and the interior decoration in sections can be a little odd.

With that said, though, the food was excellent, and the drinks were pretty good. The area is, of course, beautiful, although the nighttime hiking restrictions and the "constructed" feel of the viewing areas served to undermine some the "pristine" natural scenery. The gym is about what you expect from a hotel gym, although the hours are pretty restricted.

Overall, a pleasant hotel, in a pleasant area.

Celebrated our 20th Anniversary here in September 2019. We stayed 2 nights. It's expensive but they feed you well. My room smelled like cherry wood which I loved!! I wish I had a candle to get that smell at home. We took advantage of the included amenities like the row boats canoes and kayaks, toured the barn, took 2 hiking tours, enjoyed the night "entertainment " painted in the garden.then we also took a carriage ride and enjoyed the spa which was extra. There was no Anniversary recognition which was disappointing because they asked if you are celebrating anything. Why ask if you do not plan to at least say happy Anniversary? All in all it was amazing, relaxing, and we loved it.

The staff was excellent! Big shout out to Steve (manager) and Zach at the front desk. The resort is huge. There were a lot of activities to do for adults. My husband and I enjoyed our anniversary celebration very much. My advice is to book spa services or other activities well in advanced. We couldn't get into anything. The food was average and they are able to accommodate gluten free meals. I did knock off a star b/c of the food (I became ill after lunch). Also the room was a bit disappointing. We had a lovely fireplace in the room; however, every time we started a fire the room filled up with smoke. Luckily we could open the balcony door but it made the room cold & dampened the mood. Overall I recommend the Mohonk, especially to couples or families with children over the age of 10. The grounds are beautiful and you really get to experience nature first hand.
