So entering the hotel/resort was welcomed with warm smiles and hellos. They took our bags to our rooms and told us to park our car cause of covid which is understandable.

The line to check in was a long and we had to wait over 30 to 45 mins. Not their fault, they need to hire more people in the front desk since many of the people in line were asking questions about the activities. We stayed for 3 days.

The nature trail and tour was fun! The instructor "Jerry" is a great guy and the morning mountain walk with another female instructor "I didn't quite get her name" was so kind and understanding.

There was a waitress, I need to get her name. When we first got in was super helpful and friendly. The people who work in the restaurant on the 2nd floor are all the best. They are professional and kept everything so clean. I enjoyed the food, the portions were pretty fair.

The trails were nice and very picture friendly. It seemed longer on the map but it was actually shorter than it looked. Most of the hikes you can do under an hour but it depends on your pace but there lots places to sit and relax and take your time.

Most of the housekeeping staff are friendly expect for one encounter. It was around 4:45pm and we saw housekeeper and we were really low on toiletries. So we asked her if I could have some from the cart. "I know due to covid we didn't want to just reach in the cart to grab some since I saw them there in a open container." She said to us in a sharp and rude tone. "No, I'm off the clock. You have to call" and I said "call who?" She said "housekeeping" before I could ask the number, she just walked into a room that she was cleaning.
We didn't know there was a house keeping button on the phone.

There is a wonderful lady in the pool area desk, she is tall with glasses and she is an absolute delight. She is always laughing, smiling and joking around and very open to questions to help you out. She is one of the reasons why this place is getting a five star!

I stayed at mohonk with my wife. We loved every moment of our stay here. The setting was gorgeous. Great hiking trails even in the office season. Food was delicious. The spa was the best part. I highly recommend mohonk house and we will be returning.

Mohonk has beautiful grounds, great hiking, and it is an incredible escape from reality. We love going there for the day to hike. It is too pricey for us to stay overnight or use their spa but we love going there anywhere. We had lunch a few times in their dining hall and granary which was excellent every time. Again, do to cost, we most often just come to walk the grounds.

Yes expensive, but if you really think about it there is no place in the world like Mohonk, it is a enlightening experience and a must do for all. I have been going there for 10 years with my husband and my boys. I don't even know which season is the best, they are all unbelievable. If you stay there believe me you will always want to go back!

We went to Mohonk in August 2020 for a day trip in this pandemic.
We took the day pass which included the meal for three of us.. once u have the pass, you can use all the services of the property.
We were blown away with how well the things were managed. No guest was without the mask. Hand sanitizer were places in all entry exit points.
The staff was extremely vigilant and helpful.

We started woth boating for good 40mins..then we enjoyed the pre set meal. Their deserts were worth the wait. Specially the rum cake pudding.

Post that we went for a hike with our 7yr old and he completely enjoyed it. The views from the top are phenomenal. The hike has many resting points.
We could not use other services has it started to rain by 4.30 and we had rush back. But we plan to go again in Fall.
We loved it.

So I've always wondered what this place was, turns out there's a ton of history here and I would recommend the tour to get the details. Great for an overnight or just a day trip. Boating, hiking, horseback riding, and more are available along with great dining options. Travelling through New Paltz check out the Gilded Otter brewery!

The walk around the river with the view of the house from the backside is probably the best part and getting into the lake, though you can do that at other lakes like minnewaska without the exhorbitant fee. The inside was underwhelming and the food pricey. A guide book I read described the place like a regimented prep school which I could see, lots of rules for what you can and can't do or go to

Truly an amazing gem. The hotel and many of the buildings date to the 1800's and are carefully maintained and modernized. The added air conditioning and more recently a spa . There are miles of amazing trails to explore ranging from flat easy walks yo challenging rock scrambles. There is a pretty sky lake, but watch out, the water is cold.
The food is good. Try the granary whish is an outdoor lunch place if it's open

This is a very special place to see...I have been there many times with great memories. You feel like you are in Europe when you are at the top looking down on the Swiss Mountain house from the tower, the trails and hiking areas are great and fun to explore.

Note: you cannot enter the property without a reservation at the hotel, restaurant, or spa. Occasionally, if it s not crazy busy, they ll give you an hour pass to come check it out.

This hotel is almost $1,000 a night. It offers hiking, dining, lake access, beautiful scenery, and historical relevance. It definitely looks like the last time someone touched the decor was the 70s or 80s, and some areas have a bit more than an old musky smell. Overall however, this place is very very cool.

I can't wait to go back. This place is heaven. You feel so free. The perfect getaway to leave all your troubles behind. Definitely do the rock scramble and the lemon squeeze when you visit.

We came to take a light walk and perhaps lunch. An unfriendly attendant came out and we were told we could only enter for $27 and had to walk for 45 minutes from the parking lot to the Mountain House. I used to come regularly- something must have changed.

Absolute perfection. From the moment you drive in, you see this place is special. On peak weekends, they offer a buffet which makes it great for families. The kids club and activities are great.

I've got an interesting perspective, but worth sharing! We actually didn't stay at the house, just in the area for hiking. About 3 miles in one of my kids got into a ground wasp nest, and in the process of rescuing I got stung quite a few times. We hiked back to the house, and even though we weren't supposed to be anywhere near it, their medical team came out and treated me as if I were one of their high paying guests. Not only did I get treated for the stings, I got two big bags of ice, an ice cold Pepsi, and my family and I got a ride all the way back to our car so I didn't have to try to walk.
Thank you for treating me so kindly, it turned a really crappy day into a halfway decent one!

Fantastic grounds and hiking trails. Al a carte dining is nice! The spa is pricey but very luxurious. The hotel and rooms are slightly dated and the buffet food options are very average.

Surreal views of the Vibrant Cat Skills Mountain Range in which it is ensconced, Cookie and tea daily at dusk, hiking and climbing trails (lemonsqueeze and labyrinth) that exhilirate and inspire, world-class service, in a colossal, converted, wooden mansion turned hotel that smells like a kinder, more luxuriant, and patient world. Sit by the window in the grand dining hall for that view I mentioned earlier. And be sure to avail yourself of their spa, it is so calming and tranquil. Drink in the glorious sights, sounds, service, and of course that ubiquitous smell of sweetly singed logs.

Hello this is a nice place. For the price, it's not the definition of luxury. The price you pay is for the experience of the grounds and activities so make sure you do your research to get what you want.

WOW!!! If you can afford it, DO IT! I only did a day visit to the Spa (the classiest one I've ever seen). Got their legendary namesake full body massage then facial. Each lasted about an hour and a half. My husband had to drag me out! If we hadn't had a plane to catch he would have failed. I got a private tour of the entire facility. I want to retire there. Everything is top notch, first class! Inside and out every view is breath-taking.

Chic hotel in picturesque environment. Hotel is maintained in it's original style. It's great for a weekend outside of the city. It's good to relax and walk around, but they also organize plenty of activities for guests so nobody should be bored.

Wonderful old historic hotel with multiple amenities. Winter visit so sample x country skiing and hiking. Full service dogs and pool. Only downside at this time is that due to a huge kitchen renovation meals are buffet style and below the standards of the test of the property

Beautiful hotel! We loved our stay here. So much to do, hiking, swimming, boating and sight seeing... The works. Also, there is a cute little town near by called New Paltz which is a lot of fun. The ambiance is wonderful and excellent dinner menu. Thanks to the Smileys for our stay here!

The lady at front desk didn't know what she was doing. When I booked the room I specified the highest floor they have and she said "no problem", but when I came back after she said they only have 2nd floor available and had the attitude. When I asked her questions she just told me to call room service when I didn't even know my room number yet in order to get service.

I would give the cuisine 5 stars or more if I could. Some desk staff were rude. Some servers and "greeter" came across as cold and unwelcoming. The dining room is not what I would expect from such an expensive place and did not match the quality or excellence of the food. It felt almost like a college cafeteria. One server made snyde political remarks that were unnecessary and unwelcome. If you ever do have a meal and are lucky enough to get AMBER as your server, she will enhance your experience. Rooms were clean, but not large. It is an old building so the floors are very squeaky and creaky and anyone in the room above you makes a lot of noise, and you can hear whatever your "neighbors" are doing or saying. A LOT of little kids running and screaming through the halls. Did not make for a "retreat" experience as it was intended. The hikes and views were stellar and the outside male staff workers were awesome and friendly. So I would absolutely recommend the hiking or treating yourself to a very nice meal, but maybe not so much to stay if you want to get any rest, peace and quiet or ambiance. And even though we paid for an extra night, as it was a holiday weekend, we chose to leave instead and forfeit the other meals we paid for. It was going to rain the next day, and there was nothing else to do if we didn't want to hike in the rain. I'd have more peace and quiet in my own home and my own bed. I've had more restful nights and bigger rooms staying at a Hampton Inn.

This place is the most magical place I have ever been. I have been going for many years now and enjoy it so much. There are so many hiking trails and rock scrambles here of different skill levels and it is fun for The Whole family. The gardens are so lovely and there is a green house with a kids garden sprouting multiple different exotic things like plants that smell like popcorn and a bench made of a grassy hill. The kids club is also top of the line. The counselors there are so kind and interact well with the kids. As for the house itself, the beauty is so fine and romantic. There is a great staircase in the middle of the hotel leading to all the floors, and an elevator, that is just so beautiful. I know a lot of the staff personally and they are all so so kind. One gave each of my children a stuffed puppy from the gift shop and a gift card. The spa is magnificent and so relaxing and there are so many different tours and historical things about this place. I love all of it and have never been unhappy here. I have so many memories of this place and I haven t even written half of the many things here. I hope you choose this place for any type of vacation. (It s also a great spot for proposals or weddings )

Visited the area surrounding the Mononk house for hiking and scrambling and it was spectacular. Visitors are informed not to enter the house so we didn't go in. The outdoor adventures were very thrilling and most are family friendly. Come early to beat the crowds on the Labyrinth trail!

Old world charm at it's best. The long and winding in road present a journey into the past. As your eyes gaze up and see the hotel for the first time you realize your expectations will undoubtedly be exceeded. Set atop a mountain, nestled by a lake, the Mountain House envokes days of past simplicity's. A myriad of activities can occupy your day or you can simply submit to peaceful seclusion. Family owned and operated is a perfect recipe for unparalleled service. Walk the halls and you will be greeted by every house employee with a smile and a welcoming "hello".
