I went to the Mohonk Mountain House with my family for my 40th birthday. At $1200 a night my expectations were real high. Mohonk unfortunately didn't live up to those expectations. The food was sub par at best. Being a foodie and CIA Alumni I was really looking forward to the cuisine. My birthday dinner was a complete disappointment. My Wife's fish dish was nearly inedible, my lamb was cold and undercooked. The carrots served with my lamb were uncooked and the mashed potatoes were greasy, uninspired and flat. My daughter's pasta with marinara sauce tasted like straight canned tomato product lacking seasoning and garlic, onion, and basil. The only one who had a good dish was my son who got the hand cut steak which wound up being a filet mignon with a delicious demi glace cooked to perfection. The other meals were comparable in quality. The grounds although are beautiful. Gorgeous hiking paths and activities throughout the premises. At the price point of Mohonk I would expect a little more attention by the staff to recognize the momentous birthday occasion being spent with them at their resort. I would tell future prospective visitors to use the grounds for hiking absolutely, but stay at a near by hotel for a fraction of the price, and eat out in downtown New Paltz.

Amazing experience, we went for the Christmas brunch special and had a wonderful time with family and friends. We got to sample lots of fantastic different foods, the staff was very helpful, kind and professional. The views were out of this world and the architecture was awesome, absolutely go check this out!

Amazing experience! We went in Autumn and will back again after we get hit with some heavy snow.

The food, the staff, the vistas and everything was spectacular. Truly a remarkable get away from NYC. The drive is only 2.5 hrs. Their SPA is the best!!!!!!

Mohonk Mountain House is in an absolutely beautiful setting. The mountains and fall colors were breathtaking, and the whole property felt very secluded. The building itself looks and feels like a castle, and I received very good service while I was there. I found the food to be lacking, but my colleagues seemed to disagree, so your mileage may vary. Definitely try out the labyrinth hike!

This place is GORGEOUS! We stayed here in the winter, so I can't speak to hppe beautiful it must be during other seasons, but I can only imagine. The rooms are very Victorian. If you're looking for chic and "new", this is not your place. If you're looking to ve transported back in time and appreciate history and antiques, then this is perfection. The views are stunning, the food is somewhere between good and great (though they are building a new wing to expand their kitchen, so I'd imagine big things are in store), and there is a ton to do around here if you're an outdoors person. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet getaway!

Visited the dining room for brunch today, Saturday 9/23/17. The food was good but the wait staff are awful. Waited 15 minutes for a cup of coffee and then asked for a refill, but never received it. Brunch food is good but I like many enjoy coffee too. No wonder they collect gratuity when you make a reservation, Otherwise the staff probably wouldn't earn much. Would not go back and will not recommend to any one.

Very beautiful place!!

Very beautiful place!!
The mattress of the hotel is extremely soft though (painful for the back)

Mohonk is an amazing resort in a stunning location. Their dedication to the preservation of the land and the history of the buildings makes this a truly special place. Take advantage of the nature and seemingly endless miles of pristine hiking trails. A real gem!

The place is huge and has an upstate old world charm.. I went there in nicer weather so I assume it is nice to enjoy the lake and outside activities etc. I do understand there is a golf course but I didn't see it.

I went to Mohonk for a long weekend with my mother. It was excellent. The grounds were absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous gardens, scenic hiking trails, and a sparkling lake. The hotel itself is beautiful. The wood and glass work is unbelievable, fireplaces everywhere, even in the rooms. Personal balcony in the room with rocking chairs to sit out and enjoy the views. You can have a fire lit at night in the room, but it can get a little smokey if you don't open the balcony door. The only thing that surprised me a little was that there was no TV in the room, but there is WiFi.

There are so many activities to take part in, they even have tomahawk throwing! Plenty of great exercise classes, guided hiking and mountain biking, plus rock climbing. On the lake you can find kayaking, canoeing, stand up paddle boarding, and swimming. If you want something more relaxing, read by the fire in the library or in a rocking chair taking in the views on one of the many porches. Enjoy the amazing spa. In the evening join in at their music nights for easy listening to a variety of genres from smooth jazz to opera.

Their spa was excellent. I did one of their 75minute facials and my skin felt clean, calm, and was absolutely glowing. After a spa treatment you have access to all the spa facilities for the remainder of the day, really giving you the opportunity to unwind and relax.

The food was suprisingly good. I was a little worried because the main dining room is basically a buffet with some action stations, but after our first meal my mind was put at ease. The food was great and allergies were labeled clearly on everything. I am gluten and dairy free and they had so many options for me. The three course menu dinner was excellent. It was nice to get a little dressed up and eat in an area with no children.

I think Mohonk Mountain House is a fabulous place to spend some time. There is truly something for everyone.

From the food, to the camaraderie between the staff, to the activities that are offered, i couldn't imagine a better place to bring my family, and the safety precautions put in place during this time allowed me to thoroughly enjoy myself knowing that I was being safe for all around me. 10 stars to Mohonk!

This is our home away from home, a place where you would spend one night, two days and feel like you ve been away for a week. Upon arrival you re greeted by the staff by name and are welcomed into your amazing room. The decore, meals and the beauty of the nature activities in this resort are second to none. Chris Malletta is one of the House managers who has welcomed me back to Mohonk with exceptional customer service and dedication to make my every stay a memorable one. Here s a shout out to Chris Malletta. We just celebrated our 19th year wedding anniversary and renewed our vows.

I only got to see the grounds. Costs $22 to hike the grounds. Over 2 miles from the visitor parking lot to the lodge. Beautiful gardens and different types of hiking available. Plus you can rent boats! $20 for 30 min which is pretty steep. No food available for visitors.

This place is amazing! I have been coming here for as long as I can remember. Every year we gather for our annual family reunion over the 4th of July. The illumination of the mountain is amazing and I highly recommend it. There are great activities for kids like a carnival and a parade. I love this place and I hope to keep coming.

My wife and I (then girlfriend) looked into going to your resort prob 6-7 years ago but never made it out there. Recently, one of my friends and his wife visited and he had nothing but great things to say. Fast forward to now, married and 2 kids we need a couple of days away so I want to book a trip for her birthday.

When I went to book the trip last night, I was quoted $1365.01 for two nights in a traditional king with the 40% off cyber deal which also included $165 spa credit per day per adult along with access to most of the amenities some entertainment and some additional discounts at the spa.

This morning my sitter confirmed they could watch our kids. I went to book it and now it s double the price. When I check for the cyber week deal the spa credit isn t included. Instead I got quoted $1400 with nothing to do with the spa

I saw the original deal with the spa in this package expires Friday so I m wondering why I can t select that for any dates. I called and I even emailed them the screenshot of what I saw for the 1365 price.

I was disappointed to learn the pricing that I saw for 1365 with all the spa stuff was a website glitch . I spoke with the booking manager Christian who told me two packages were combined in the screenshot I emailed him. He said he wouldn t be able honor that price. He was nice and apologetic regarding the error. Ultimately, Christian was only able to offer me the lowest room rate to an upgraded room. He advised that would save me the total amount of the $165 spa credits for both adults that I wouldn t be getting. What Christian didn t realize until I pointed it out is that I would be out another $165 X 2 of spa credits for Tuesday.

It was a hollow gesture to upgrade a room that I wouldn t have spent any time in other than to sleep. I explained we would be on vacation to see the grounds, the spa, the pool and hot tub and explore the area, not sit in a nicer room and stare at each other. I didn t realistically expect to pay only $1365.01. Christian stated the real package cost came out to around $2700 so I was hoping we could negotiate and meet in the middle somewhere. Unfortunately the best he could do was offer a nicer room that I wouldn t be staying in because no one stays in their room on vacation!!

40 minutes on the phone with Christian and two emails later, I have now spent 50 minutes of my day trying to pay money to their resort on a friends recommendation, only to have nothing to show for it. My friend who recommend Mohonk feels bad about what happened and won t be returning for his anniversary with his wife.

I now have a call scheduled with a Spa Manager at Woodloch Spa in Hawley PA on Monday morning. After explaining to their receptionist what happened with my experience at Monhonk, they would like to talk to me further about my wife and I visiting their resort. They felt bad about my experience and said they wanted our business and to do right by us. You really have to appreciate customer service like that. Hopefully things work out with Woodloch, which I am hopeful for based on what they told me so I will see what happens Monday when the manager is back to work and calls. I would recommend staying away from this place.

This place gets five stars for the scenery and there staff. Food is pretty good too. The rooms are dated and cramped. The hallways look like they haven't been renovated in 60 years. If you like old dusty Victorian style decor then add a star.

I've never experienced a check in time that is not the actual time the room is ready. So check in time is actually not 4pm. It could be 4 or 4:30 or 5...Don't get it twisted.

After hearing about this place multiple times on the radio, I decided to check out the website and see how much a room would be.

I was absolutey disappointed, that for a 3-star hotel, a single room costs $900 for ONE night. That's just ridiculous. I could understand $200 or $300 a day, but $900? Really disappointing.

A big mistake to go to this place in my opinion. The place is worth $ 100 a night maybe $ 150. no more. I went for a long weekend and left the next day. It is the audacity and disdain to ask for such a price over $ 500. I have traveled in 75 countries around the world and the United States. Nowhere was I disappointed that way.

Beautiful venue, lovely and friendly staff. Facilities are well maintained. Each hotel room is unique and quaint. No TVs in the room, but gives you the opportunity to enjoy their location. Daily activities for adults and children for all types of adventure seekers, and/or their evening movies, campfires and dancing.

This is a world class nature resort. Easy access from NYC and surrounds. Definitely go. The trails, activities, food, pool, spa...it s all perfect. This place has pride...and deserves to.

It is a very good place for autumn maple viewing. You can choose a hiking route or drive to the highest parking lot for $15 per person. There are many rock climbers who choose to climb here. Driving along the way, you can enjoy the scenery along the way. Mohongk Mountain Villa, also known as Tianhu Mountain Villa, has a history of 151 years and is entirely made of stone. Unique charm. I heard that several American presidents have been here for holiday resorts. Famous. The hotel has a buffet for a fee. Walking along the lake has unusual scenery. There are fish feeding and boating by the lake. You can also climb the tower to look at the blue sky and the red mountain in the distance. It looks like a large lake is very beautiful. Free refreshments are provided to tourists in the afternoon.

My husband and I have been once. Service was so bad. There is very limited coffee place. Waitres doesn t want to serve you during ghe happy hour time as well because they are taking advantage from wedding ceremonies. 2 nights we have been sent different salons from wedding ceremonies. A lit of money and wonderful nature and worthless hotel. Very bad experience.

Beautiful hotel, resort, lake, private beach and park. Hotel is expensive to stay if you can afford it, worth at least an affordable day visit. Impressive food for lunch and dinner. Spectacular vista views and walks.

My husband and I plan a trip every year for our anniversary, this year it was more of get away as well as we buried our daughter and husbands father. We booked Mohonk for 4 nights. Not what we expected. When made reservations we told why visiting and not once was anything mentioned. Other places have a welcome letter, including a schedule of activities and listing of dinner reservations and spa appointment.
We stayed in a suite and for the price we thought service and amenities would be top notch. Room wasn't ready when we checked in and once room was we went right away and found a cheese tray that looked as if it had been sitting there for hours as cheese was warm and fruit started to brown. Room wasn't turned down in the evening except 1 night. Spoon and napkins were not changed after having coffee, left on counter. Ice bucket was never filled. Steam shower didn't work, they were told and reimbursed us for 1 night but that was the attraction of the room. Fireplace never worked correctly and it seemed as if they insinuated it was us. For the price of room, use of the spa should be included as an amenity as all guests can purchase for a few dollars. Daily schedule of events should be slid under the door in am for the guests to have on hand and can plan the day and prepare for meals. Beverages should be sold/available for guests in a more convenient area. Front desk attendants can be a little more friendlier, I know they get yelled at a lot by guests for things that are not their fault but it's their job. Some guests just have a quick question and a smile goes a long way.
The food was delicious and service in dining halls was excellent. Sit down meals were fantastic, some selections would of liked to be able to get a second of. One evening service wasn't as good as the rest, he seemed lost or like he didn't want to be there.
We try to stay at a luxury resort every year for our anniversary and I can say, they need to go visit or stay at other resorts to see what they can do to improve or match the other experiences that are available out there. They could do so much better if some things were changed or done a little differently.
A comment card was filled out and left in the box at front desk. We never heard back on it, guess it's a waste to take the time to fill out. Hope they consider or make a few changes, some would be very beneficial.

One of my favorite places ever. Beautiful hotel amazing food and awesome grounds. If you re looking for over the top fancy-ness this is not the place. But if you want beautiful relaxing surroundings with amazing activities and the best ambiance ever this is for you. It s expensive but it s worth it for the atmosphere, food, fun, and relaxation.
