Krista Nugent Review of Mohonk Mountain House

I went to Mohonk for a long weekend with my mother. It was excellent. The grounds were absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous gardens, scenic hiking trails, and a sparkling lake. The hotel itself is beautiful. The wood and glass work is unbelievable, fireplaces everywhere, even in the rooms. Personal balcony in the room with rocking chairs to sit out and enjoy the views. You can have a fire lit at night in the room, but it can get a little smokey if you don't open the balcony door. The only thing that surprised me a little was that there was no TV in the room, but there is WiFi.
There are so many activities to take part in, they even have tomahawk throwing! Plenty of great exercise classes, guided hiking and mountain biking, plus rock climbing. On the lake you can find kayaking, canoeing, stand up paddle boarding, and swimming. If you want something more relaxing, read by the fire in the library or in a rocking chair taking in the views on one of the many porches. Enjoy the amazing spa. In the evening join in at their music nights for easy listening to a variety of genres from smooth jazz to opera.
Their spa was excellent. I did one of their 75minute facials and my skin felt clean, calm, and was absolutely glowing. After a spa treatment you have access to all the spa facilities for the remainder of the day, really giving you the opportunity to unwind and relax.
The food was suprisingly good. I was a little worried because the main dining room is basically a buffet with some action stations, but after our first meal my mind was put at ease. The food was great and allergies were labeled clearly on everything. I am gluten and dairy free and they had so many options for me. The three course menu dinner was excellent. It was nice to get a little dressed up and eat in an area with no children.
I think Mohonk Mountain House is a fabulous place to spend some time. There is truly something for everyone.
