Edna Aizenberg Review of Metropolitan Opera
Fancy building and gorgeous chandeliers don't make...
Fancy building and gorgeous chandeliers don't make up for a rude, surly, horrid staff.
They treat the audience like the enemy, threatening to call security on me when, since I have difficulty walking, I wanted to sit outside the door during the intermission (I was tricked into waiting outside the hall after I asked to speak to the usher who told me to step outside). You are supposed to walk down steps to the basement to watch on a monitor)
I was really scared. I asked to speak to the house manager who was as friendly as Valdemort (Mort, death).
No consideration, no sympathy, just threats
My big sin: since there is no lighting whatsoever, I put on my cellphone for a SECOND) To check when the opera ended, so that I wouldn't miss my car service.
Skip it unless you are healthy,
can walk, and get drunk enough to ignore the staff.
Bravo, Gelb
