Brilliant relaxing place. Very helpful staff. WiFi works using the numbers on the card that lasts for an hour only. You get free cards as many as you want. But it is tedious to all the time put the numbers in! The beach and swimming pool is just nearby.

Gigantic spring. The site is exceptional. Part via Private Travel which works (supposedly) with the best hotels. To avoid absolutely.

The rooms are dilapidated. The cleaning is correct. Presence of air conditioning.

Little or no entertainment (this said very nice animators). Too bad for an "adults only" hotel.

The food is frankly not that great (make sure you get to the buffet first to have a choice). Several restaurants are available (all closed at the time of my stay or occupied, reservations being made on Saturdays). Empty dishes are not renewed (cold cuts, cheese, etc.)

Place popular with golf enthusiasts who are happy.

The beach is magnificent but the services stop at 5 pm sharp (recovery of the deckchair cushions that you must go and get).

Honestly? I know that nearby hotels offer a much higher quality service for a lower price.

Several bars indeed.

My girl friend and I stayed in this hotel in December.
We like pretty much everything..location,
resort design, isolated beach, service and room. Food was fine considering Cuban standards. A few tips would help to make your comfort better.
The most important thing was that this place wasn't overcrowded, basically we did have any lineups.
The only upsetting event we experienced was
when a man with heart attack was pulled out of ocean no lifeguard was around. Help came too late.

The hotel looks in the pictures better than it is. It is getting old what should be renovated. For me it would be 3 stars. The pool and the outside area are great. The beach would be nice if you would do something the leagues and umbrellas are dated the beach is not maintained which is a pity if you have such a beautiful sea.
The staff is partly friendly, partly arrogant for the price, I expected more, they promised something that would not be kept. Disappointing holiday !!!

Was there for the second time (2016), so I ordered a level bungalow garden suite again, but it was not available due to construction work that had been going on for some time. I got a junior suite, but in the main building, where I didn't want to be. I did not receive a notification in advance, although I could have canceled.
The complaint about it was formulated in such a way that one had received a suite anyway and the bungalow was not available for a repair.
The other services were okay, but no longer 5 *. 3 years ago the service was more attentive and according to the classification of the hotel. .
Restaurants are OK, service poor. Beach beautiful and well-kept.
Will no longer book there, as price / performance ratio no longer fits.

Great hotel. I would like to say that the beach was amazing. There is enough chairs and shades to stay on the beach. The water is crystal clear and wonderful. I give 5 star to the beach. Very lovely and kind staff. Except for the water bottles that was only one in our room and we had to call couple of times to get more water, the staff were responsible. Their bar and drinks were absolutely 5 star. Their snack such as hot dogs, French fries and hamburgers were amazing in the bar. I also give 5 stars to the bars in this hotel. The restaurants were ok. They had variety of food but not all were as great as I expected. However, the restaurant La Arcada was great. The room was very ordinary. Everything was very simple which I understand. In total and among other hotels in Varadero, I think Melia Las Americas is a nice place to stay for your vacation.

From the moment I arrived till I left 12 days later, I was treated like the 'King of the Castle!' I had a terrific room facing the ocean & with the layout of the curved hotel, that basically was all I saw; close to the waves, quiet, comfortable, great staff. Private beach with plenty of chairs. Great buffet, even as a vegetarian; no complaints. I golfed at one of the best courses, every day, with the ocean on both sides, an amazing 18th hole. Lots of hazards, sand & water made it a tough + interesting course. I'm a Realtor & had no trouble with the internet, phone & text + even sold a Toronto house while in Varadero. I will definitely return ASAP! Thanks, Melia Las Americas for looking after me me me ...

Not 5 stars for as we understand it in Italian. Prepare to leave tips at all. The all inclusive formula is a winner. Pinacolada at all hours. The a la carte a bit 'disappointing. The buffet is better. Very professional evening shows. I also recommend Tai chi and morning yoga

A very clean and nice hotel. The staff are all very friendly. The food is ok. Best of all was the animation. The team is very nice. The best are Etianne, Braskin, Yanet, Elsy and Amed. I will come back next year.

Very nice facility. With bungalows and hotel rooms. The almost huge reception hall with the colonial-looking furniture and the breathtaking view of the Caribbean Sea - through the hall, over the stairs leading down to the beach, lined with palm trees and the turquoise water clinker - cannot be described. See!

I used a bungalow. The complex runs through a network of canals that meet, form a pool here and there (with a bar), and continue. Although the bungalows are more for families, I didn't see any children. The room service is absolutely fine. The drinks and the food are OK. The beach is cordoned off so that there are no annoying sellers.
There is a lack of spices in the food. Bring your own salt, pepper, KdP, curry, paprika, etc. (preferably in larger quantities - then the waitresses work great too / don't forget: leave 2.3 CUC's on the table - every evening). But there is a pay restaurant on the premises, which is highly recommended.
For a rental car you unfortunately have to go to "Princesa del Mar". There are nice organized bus tours from the hotel. Several hotels are of course approached. !!! Renting a car is best - and really cheap for a week !!!
Otherwise the complex is quiet. The beach is great. Unfortunately, there is no daily evening program.

Employees were fabulous, was my 4th stay, what was lacking was Cuba day activity no bbq on beach, extremely disappointing and no facecloths in the bathrooms. Booking dinners should be 1st come first served, found reservations lady Angela very annoying.
Front desk staff was the best!

Excellent dedicated attention, all its employees act as owners and are super hosts. The facilities are very well maintained. There are variety of restaurants within the complex and they are of very good quality, in some you have to book. It is located in a very quiet area and although Cuban beaches are public here there is very little traffic. Next to it there is a small shopping center and with buses you can walk around the peninsula.

Great hotel. Great weather. So far, food was just top-notch. Service is very friendly. This is a kids free hotel. Live music in all variations and every day in top quality. For young and old. Mosquitoes in the evening quite a lot in June, so take something with you. After 2 weeks of vacation I can only say, is the best hotel in the area. Greetings here to the top service Oslady. Thank you for letting me get to know you.

The food pretty good. The super friendly staff. The area we hired is the least new, so it was moderately good, but there are much better rooms, obviously for more payment. Very nice pools and the beautiful beach although our Caribbean I like it more

This is the first time I've been to Cuba and the fifth for my husband, and to say that it was an amazing experience is an understatement. From the entertainment team, to the food, and the staff (especially Julia) it was beyond exceptional. We had such a wonderful time here that we would come back again and probably for longer. It is definitely worth every star and would recommend it to anyone who wants to get away.

Super hotel ... beautiful descent to clean beaches ... food also ok with a small complaint to the water because it is best to drink carbonated then the service will not mistake the bottles with taps which ends with a terrible stomach torment ...
In addition, the rooms are reasonably maintained ... great service throughout the hotel ...

Danger !!!!!

Danger !!!!!
NOTHING for YOUNG couples (under 40) !!!!
This is a senior citizens' home for couples (over 50) !!!!!!
One is ignored and served at all.
And the rudest staff I've ever seen. (my 16th vacation abroad).
Despite a tip nothing has changed.
Because the seniors over 50 (mostly from Canada) supposedly give much more tips (10CUC = 10 per waiter).
Not even with 5 you can't please the staff.
NOT recommended for couples UNDER 40 years of age.
Room whether standard or premium were in both, there is terrible mold on the sofa, chairs, mini bar, bathroom toilet.
Rust and crack in the bathtub.
Air conditioning so loud that we didn't even turn it on.
The only nice thing was the sea.
Although the beach was spread out with a lot of rubbish - plastic cups, straws, broken glass.
We were there for 2 weeks and for the first time we counted the days for the journey home after 4 nights!

Horrible place. Money grab, catered for ages 50+... spent my hard earned cash only to waste it here. This was raved 5 stars... I know standards are lower.. but this was the worst vacation ever. To go on this vacation you have got to have no taste in food, sit on your butt and entertain yourself and have cash to throw around. This was not the romantic getaway I needed in the most optimal time for me.

How I rate this place:

Service: Uncaring and sometimes unfriendly. Ex: Room service never comes, even if there's a leak in the room and water is pouring in. It seemed like the majority of staff didn't want to work there. They leave their desk or job post for a long period of time without anyone filling in for them. 2/5 Stars

Food: Repetitive. Same types of food every day. Some things tasted like they were made without any salt or flavouring. (Like some of the pasta, unless you get the chef to make it) Same deserts, or same taste anyway. 1/5 Stars

Drinks: Prepared with way too much alcohol. Pina coladas were made with powder and only some flavour remained. 1/5 Stars

Room: Ugly as hell compared to other resorts. Beds were singles set next to each other. 1/5 Stars

Bugs: Oh... bug infested even on third floor.
0/5 Stars

Beach: Only positive was the beach. Great view, nice and relaxing, safe, and lots of sand. Not the greatest view, but pretty darn good. 4/5 Stars

Total
1.5 Stars

This is an all inclusive hotel with golf course. There is an international airport at Varadero and many Europeans and Canadians fly direct to here for vacations skipping Havana which has descended into 3rd World category under Communism Party rule. This penensula has 87 hotels averaging in the hundreds of dollars per night and virtually none of these can be afforded by Cubans who earn on average of $25 a month (2016). Note: Those in tourist industry earn far more, sometimes that much in a day. Regular Cuban pesos are not accepted anywhere in Veradero you would want to go. The CUC (convertible currency) used by tourists and all well off Cubans are about equal to one Euro.

I booked a room for me and my sister. We got promoted to VIPs. At first we got very excited with the idea and we were very grateful!
We went to have lunch at limoncello restaurant which is supposed to be for the VIP customers and we immediately regretted it. Customer service was horrible! We were completely neglected, nobody never came to refill our water glasses. The staff were very rude and full of attitude. Clearly they were not happy to serve us. The worst thing is that I have ordered a dish which is mentioned in the menu as "gluten free". I also made sure to inform the waiter that I have allergy so he will make sure my order will be prepared with caution. Guess what, I was served a "gluten free" dish with bread on the plate. I had my sister to eat it so she will tell me for sure is normal bread. I called the waiters and the answer I got it that yes it is normal bread. Nobody bothered to make it up to me. Nobody offered me at least something else to eat. All i did is to take the menu and go to the manager to complain. All I got is an apology because apparently the menu was wrong!!. Fair enough at least someone understood somehow my situation. I could end up really sick, had I ve eaten that dish. Thank God I know how to tell if the bread is "real" or not. I Really reeeeally regret I didnt file a lawsuit against the waiter, the chef and the hotel. I have never ever been treated so horribly.

Very awkward to get around. Your in for a lot of walking if your in the 5___ or 6000 rooms. Which is a great way to burn off calories. Great people, good food, lots of choices. Not a large variety of food. Terrible wifi. Hotel maps need work, they don't list specific restaurant times for breakfast vs lunch etc..

You are in Cuba.

The attention of the hotel staff is magnificent (judging by everyone I agreed with) ... and the beach is amazing !!!! A very quiet area, clean and with very fine sand (for me the quality of the sand is very important). The hotel is 5 stars, therefore it is not cheap. The value for money is disproportionate. The rooms are quite neglected and lack of maintenance (the hotel is full of leaks), the variety and assortment of food is poor. The best time to visit it, in my opinion, is out of summer and during the week (September is a good month). On weekends it fills up considerably more than the area of the beach.

It was like a dream.

It was like a dream.
The beach was right next to the resort which was convenient.
Live entertainment in the lobby at 8:30, theme parties at 9:30, they all kept the atmosphere lively and made the overall experience quite enjoyable.
They also went out of the way to make sure we had a comfortable stay (Make sure you tip. Tips are highly appreciated and get you great service apart from your usual P's and T's)
They also gave us an extra A-La-cart reservations which was a pleasant surprise :)

This resort is worth every penny.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone travelling to Varadero!

Note: my only suggestion to the hotel would be to improve on providing seamless wi-fi services rather than using scratch cards that run out every hour. How about an option where you pay a fixed amount for the entire duration of the stay? Or a card that provides Wi-fi for an entire day? Just a thought...

Hotel de varadero that you notice the years, would need a reform such as rooms, facilities such as swimming pools and others if I see them well. The buffet acceptable but not exquisite, if I recommend booking in the restaurant the arcade of the hotel, with live music, a pleasant surprise. Magnificent beach and adults only is a plus for those of us who go without children. Good hotel but not luxury.

Great hotel, very nice staff ! However there is poor communication... We got a gift for my brother and his wife a week in Cuba as their honeymoon for their weeding. So the travel agent send all the information and told them to make sure they bring their weeding certificate to take advantage of all the services offered to honeymooners. Its true that we got their next day after missing the flight however they got just a normal room. After I went to their reception because we were staying in the other Melia they got the room we booked for them with an ocean view and two days later they got a bottle of champagne and one of rom. After a lot of intervention from a fantastic guy, our Air Canada representative Ormani who really tried to sort everything but in the end the execution was not there....
At the other Melia we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and we've been welcomed with flowers, heart shaped towels, champagne and a beautiful decor of chocolate. Also every day our room was so beautiful arranged, we got chocolates on the pillows, a flower here and there...so I felt really bad that we were getting more of a service than my brother and his wife that were on their honeymoon. After 2 days of the travel agent blaming the hotel staff and the hotel staff blaming the agent we gave up and we arranged a Jeep Safari with Ormani, a live concert that was a tribute to Buena Vista Social Club and then a photo shoot on the beach.
They had great service in all the restaurants, terraces and the shows were really good.
So as a compromise we all agreed to go back to Cuba next year this time we will all go to Melia Varadero and they can visit Havana while we all go again on the Jeep Safari trip that we enjoy every time we go to Cuba.
