It is an incredible place, a paradise to enjoy the best vacations. Without a doubt Melia Las Americas is the best. It has all the amenities in every way and especially with a staff of activities that make you have fun and have fun all day. In both daytime and nighttime activities. Undoubtedly a PARADISE

If you love the sun, make yourself useful, have fun with nice people, you're in the right place. The weather is nice and warm, the beach is beautiful and the place is safe. We played golf on a beautiful course, unique in its kind that challenges Nordic players. Excellent meals and buffet accompanied with wine, beer or summer drink are served when compared to other hotels in Cuba. There are singers, dancers and professional musicians who give shows every night in the hall, theater and lounge that will amaze you. Cubans are friendly people who take customer service to heart, especially Quebecers and Quebeckers.

Stunning and almost private beach. It's so good it boosts this otherwise 3/5 resort. The service was so so and the demographic is more for older people. Resort itself is aging and bathrooms and in desperate need of update. Food, cooks and server staff are great so that helps it also keep it at 4. Say hello to Emilio and Rosy in the buffet - they are fantastic. Also say hello to the local kitten resident that has made the main stairs to the beach it's home. He is super friendly and pettable.

This is our 12th visit to Melia Las Americas. There are newer hotels at Varadero but none that provide such excellent service, good food and entertainment. With an understated atmosphere in beautiful surroundings and pools.

All-inclusive hotel. All-you-can-drink 24H, all-you-can-eat (lol) You can also enjoy various beach activities. There are several staff members who can speak English. You can use it by purchasing a Wi-Fi card, but it is slow and difficult to connect. The room cleaning lady was very friendly and set up a cute towel when she got along.

Terrible customer service. Don't expect anything unless you tip each person $5usd. Terrible buffet. Food wasn't cooked properly and select was super limited. Outdated rooms. The "ocean view" room wasn't that great. Only two stars because the beach is beautiful.. It is a public beach so you may run into a lot of locals. Also, the a la Carte restaurants are pretty good(not the BBQ one). Make sure you try to place a reservation with the fine dining restaurant(la arcada) twice if possible.

The resort was absolutely stunning, the beach was ...

The resort was absolutely stunning, the beach was incredible. We stayed in the grande ocean view suite and the view/room was better than I could've imagined. We went at the end of April and the price was so good for what we got. The catamaran was so much fun, the daily activities were perfect, the drinks were great.

The negatives for me were that the food in the buffet was far better than any of the a la cartes. The little restaurant that is open 24 hours, had really bad food. I recommend breakfast in the buffet or going down to the outdoor grill. The dining experiences in the a la cartes are amazing and staff was so friendly, unfortunately the food was not so good in the a la cartes. The buffet had great food though! I recommend skipping straight to the buffet!
Our maid was not that friendly to be honest. She actually made me uncomfortable. A hinge had come out of one of the bathroom doors and she implied we purposely broke it (we are calm well behaved people). Our friends on the other side of the resort had these beautiful flower and towel arrangements everyday, and ours was non existent. It kind of ruined my experience. Half of the staff seemed to really appreciate us and made us feel so welcome and the other half seemed annoyed with tourists in general.
The hotel is full of a lot of spanish and french speaking tourists from Europe, they seemed to get a long just fine but the english speaking folks were few and far between and some of the staff seemed annoyed at our inability to speak spanish.
The night life was non existent. I wish there was a disco that stayed open late for the times you want to stay out and socialize and dance.
Also the WIFI!!!!! We have little kids and really wanted to be able to facetime them or skype but you have to buy wifi and it only works in the lobby. It was so noisy and busy in the lobby, it was impossible to make it work. I would strongly suggest to add extra data to your phone and use facebook video calling. It worked for us and we didn't have any overages. I really only opened my internet to make calls though.

This was my first time going to an all inclusive resort and my first time in Cuba. I really enjoyed my stay, I can't wait to go back. I met so many amazing people, Yitsis, Raoul, Javi, Eladeo, our boat crew on the catamaran excursion, Candace and Brian, Liz and Dom and so many more. The beach was fantastic, the food was great and the staff are absolutely the best, what more can you ask for. It is home away from home. A special thank you to Daniel for helping me up to my room. Hope to see you all next year.

The employees of the main bar, the beach bar, the grills in the buffet are only nice when it is greedy. Overall the employees are not friendly, only Yoly and 2 other maids from the main restaurant were mt friendly. The room where I was 2203 with double bed was tiny, the bed was against the wall on one side, only had a bedside table and did not even have space with sofa and small table as the two beds. Nor the base of support for the suitcases. A mt bad room ... The hotel manager is very friendly and the beach is fantastic.

The very recommended attention, very kind people and the facilities I loved. I felt that I moved to santorini spaces of tranquility and fun. It's really one of the most beautiful hotels I saw in Cuba. From the outside and the inside. The food was really good. The different resteraunts offer really exclusive meals and the stuff is super nice. Not just to the guest but also with each other. I got the feeling they liked to work there and so I could really enjoy my time there. There was no stress or disapproval. For me one of the most important things.
I've been there in November and the beach was beautiful too. Not crowed or anything. The pool and the bars were perfect too and the entertainment was good, not to much but if you like to have some you could join it. I would definitely recommend this hotel. :)

Went from February 7 to 14. Second time at this hotel. Had paid for the level section but the services were not up to par; a pool under repair so no bar to drink a lemonade in the section. The employees were doing work so a lot of noise. We were disappointed.

The hotel area is a bit older but in a generally good condition, our room was clean and in good condition. The bed was good.
The food in the buffet restaurant are average and unfortunately only lukewarm.
One evening we were in the a la carte restaurant La Robleza. The service was poor and the food was nothing too good.

The location is amazing: the beach is crazy, the pool is nice. In short: the exteriors are cool.
If you are looking for a place to be full of entertainment: this hotel is for you.
On the other hand, we were looking for calm, so a bit of a failure for us.
Cocktails are not good on the beach bar and okay on the pool bar. The food is frankly not good (especially at the "best restaurant in the hotel"), the restaurant staff for VIP is not very pleasant ... The best thing is to go to the buffet!
It's quite expensive for what it is ... We tell ourselves that we mostly paid for the beach.

The list is so long that I would not recommend this hotel that I don't know where to start.
We are all aware of the situation in the country and when you travel to Cuba, you expect that in this type of chains (Melia) this is less noticeable and more in the case of one of the least cheap options. Having said that, one of the things that bothered me the most about saying it softly is that the staff, with exceptions, are more aware of the trapicheo and if you are not an American type customer who is tipping bills on tips everywhere they will surely not even look at you. Regarding the food, forget about eating something similar to the typical food of the country and you will surely see quite a shortage in the buffet that, except from 14:30 since at that time they will eat those responsible for the hotel and MAGIC! All trays are very VERY IMPORTANT IF YOU ARE ALLERGY. It is very easy to find food contamination given how they set up the buffets and the tools to serve you the food.
The beach area ,,,, in short, there you will see the wholesale trapicheos of the staff, lifeguards sleeping in amacas, drinking beers and playing darts, thankfully it is impossible to drown on those beaches.
in short, a very bad experience that I will not repeat and the most recorded thing is that as we speak with many people on the return flight, the Melia Varadero is exactly the same.

This was my third time in this resort and thought you could not beat my first and second stay. I was teached a lesson. A dream through and through. From the lobby boys (Izrael, Pedro, Noel, Lionbel, Frank and Co) via the reception (Chabelys, Eliza, Yadira, Yuzy, Dany, Iran, Boris) as well as the service (Chavely, Yitsis, Belice, Belkis, Marianni, Rosanna, Raul, Javier, Yasmani, Luis Enrique, Winfredo, Mercy, Rachel, Castro, Elena, Cadenas,...) the main animator and man without shame: the unique Julio, the customer service (Zahily, Isis, ....) and of course the management under the new general manager Francisco Silva: I can not thank you enough. You all are doing a great job!
Please forgive me that I can not write every name here - otherwise there were hunderts of names because there are just wonderful people.
Just fantastic - I wish I could stay there forever - thanks for the wonderful time!

See you soon I hope! Best regards from Austria -

Just returned from a 13 day stay at the Melia Las Americas (MLA) this was our 6th stay at the MLA and cannot say enough good things about the MLA. It is for sure a golfer s paradise I have never heard anyone talk poorly about the golf course and we attach a picture of our view of the course on the infamous 15th water hole!
The MLA is adults only and a resort we believe that prides itself it in customer service. Unlike the new huge resorts the MLA is 340 rooms and a grounds that are mature and spectacular. Again a picture of the outside patio area speaks for itself.
Large enough to have all the amenities but small enough to make it very comfortable and after our 6th visit there are few staff we do not know and they show you true hospitality every day. The beach is great and kept very clean by the staff plenty of loungers and cabana s so no need to rush down. The pools are kept very clean and yes the bungalow pool is under construction and should be done very soon and looks like it and the new bar grill down there will be awesome. The continued renovations illustrate the commitment by Melia and the management to keep this resort one you will want to continue coming back to as we do.
We enjoy all the restaurants but in particular the atmosphere in the La Arcada with the string quartet and presentation by the servers makes the night. The Il Limoncello that serves Mediterranean food is also excellent and getting there early and having a table on the outside deck listening to the ocean makes the evening.
The activities staff lead by it seems Elsie keeps the beach hopping from early morning to late evening they gym is very good and morning yoga or tai chi is also available.
Our room overlooked the golf course and while not yet updated was still excellent and kept spotless by our room attendant Julia who did a phenomenal job and always left a beautiful presentation on our bed everyday thank you so much Julia.
The management at the resort can be seen all day long ensuring customer service is attended to and in our experience all very approachable as the example is set by the Director General Francisco so thank you and to Rey of course.
For sure we will be back and in fact have already booked two more weeks in April this year we would not go anywhere other then the MLA. We cannot wait until April thank you to the management and all the staff at the MLA

This is My 3rd time at Melia and the reason for two stars is mainly because of the service.
I flew on Sunwing and basically that's when our holiday started to go down hill . Our flight was put pack 8 hours and so we didn't get to our hotel until 4:30 in the morning .... Once arrived at the hotel at check - in , it seemed that it was our fault we didn't arrive on time and it didn't seem to matter that we were repeat customers. Our room was not an upgrade but oh my god at least clean the bathtubs , definitely needs updating. The service is lacking , trying to get coffee for breakfast was a challenge .. last year we would get service on the beach this year they would close the beach restaurant because of so called windy day, I golfed in that wind and it wasn't bad at all, definitely staffing issues. Our Sunwing rep did not tell us the truth on an excursion wouldn't show us a price list and found out people paid different prices at the excursion. I love the golf course and they are doing a great job fixing it up especially the sand traps. Not sure if we will return definitely not with Sunwing

All inclusive club. Only for adults. This is a big plus)
In general, not a bad hotel for those who love a lot of food and alcohol. People are different and young, and older.
The territory is well-groomed, the Beach is clean, but small.
Next to the Golfclub .... if you go through the golfclub, you can find yourself on another beach, which is very long with the White Sand and take a long walk there (this is for lovers).

Hotel very well located in Varadero and with a very attentive and good service, now well, to be a 5 star hotel and at the price charged I find something poor maintenance of the rooms, for the category of the hotel should be reformed, and the Toilet supplies are not so poor, just shampoo and gel. The buffet, very poor and with little variety

First before I even start on a review of this hote...

First before I even start on a review of this hotel, you really need to have the proper expectations set when coming to Cuba. This is my second time to Cuba and one must realize that if you are looking for 5 star food or 5 star resorts, this is not the country for you. You are coming to Cuba for the culture, the beautiful sandy beaches and the warm weather and for most of us Canadians, to escape the frozen tundra.

We choose the Melia Las Americas resort based on the previous reviews with Tripadvisor as well my in-laws stayed at a Melia property (Melia Varadero) two years ago and they had nothing but good things to say. This resort however is an Adults only and that also appealed to us when looking for a place to stay.

Our arrival was welcomed with a beverage which was great after the 45-minute bus ride however the lady behind the desk really didn t make us feel welcome. We were offered an upgrade which another person happily showed us our original room and the upgraded room. We choose the upgraded room as they bed was an actual king and not two doubles pushed together. The bed still wasn t like you d expect back home, quite firm and this is pretty typical of resorts in the Caribbean

The buffet was not bad compared to all the other options. We went in with an open mind to the buffet and while not wowed, we were surprised at the offerings in the buffet with the various stations and the food wasn t that bad. It was quite bland as you ll read but it wasn t horrible, and we were able to find something to eat from a few different stations such as the grilling station which has choices of meats and fish.

One tip is go visit the concierge on your second day early in the morning (9:15am) to book your ala carte restaurants. There are four of them here, Japanese, Caribbean BBQ, Mediterranean and International.
We ate at all four of the ala carte restaurants and they only slightly varied in quality. The International was the best one so make sure you book this first as it books up.

The beach is amazing, one of the best amenities of this hotel and for us is one of the major reasons why we decided to come to Cuba. The almost white powder sandy beach is glorious and doesn t disappoint. There are lots of chairs, lots of huts for shade and you don t really need to wake up early and rush down to put your towels on them to save yourself a seat. We went down between 730-830 am each day and had plenty of choices to park our butts and chill out.

As for general stuff, there is a guy who walks around the hotel and beach area dressed up as various characters each day. I think it might be the entertainment manager however not sure. Slightly annoying. The Varadero Plaza America (Mall) is a 5 min walk from the hotel and the prices of liquor are the same as if you were to buy it from Havana.

As we came to the end of the week I was about to finish this review off without any real complaints, however, on our final full day we had something that just couldn t go unsaid. We booked this holiday to celebrate our 10-year anniversary and we purposely left our four kids at home, so we could celebrate properly. We also selected an adult only resort to further that celebration however on our final day the two life guards who were on duty must have had their family and friends join them on the beach. Not only were their kids running around in-between all the guests, they were utilizing the lounge chairs and permanent shade structures that are supposed to be for paying guests. We paid a lot of money for the resort and atmosphere and having this family and their kids just randomly join the resort was not cool. Not only that, the two life guards were not doing what they should have been doing, which is watching over people.

Staff very friendly. A beautiful beach. Unfortunately, the restaurants often go out very early. We had a table at the Italian. A reservation is necessary at the a la cart restaurant. When we were there there was no more pizza.
When it rains you can tell that the hotel has defects. It rained through the ceiling in our bathroom. In the lobby it rains in many places so you have to be lucky to get a dry table
For the evening the hotel always offers a lot of music and shows. Boredom does not arise here.

The stay in this area was very pleasant. A really fine all around, with very friendly staff.
The hotel is getting old, the bathtub was rusty, unfortunately many unpleasant tourists from Canada, the already in the morning "poured" with alcohol. Many golfers (very fat and not sporty acting!), The food selection was excellent, only the waiting times
- if you ordered fresh fish or meat - was often too long. The beach overcrowded and also the cost of the internet connection not cheap. Price-performance too high and certainly not 5 stars. Still suitable for people looking for peace and quiet.

As it is all inclusive, food and drink are free except for special items. It is better to pay around 1 CUC when you request room service. The private beach is probably about 1km and there are several pools. I asked for a twin room, but there was a living room other than the bedroom. I made four stars because I did not have a good meal.
