Grand Kempinski Hotel Review

Poor experience overall, far below the 5 star experience the hotel claims to offer. My bags were lost for a couple of hours, the lobby bar has the worst service of any hotel I had stayed at for a long while. Several ladies standing behind the bar, but not bothering to check with guests if they would like to be served anything.
Room service food disappointing, the chicken noodle soup was practically nothing more than bowl of noodles, no vegetables or much liquid in the soup.

It s really good to watch the night scene, and there aren t many highlights in other areas.

Staff alway push us to use hotel taxi and it cost double price as normal it piss me off because they can use application to call taxi but they didn't do anything and call for hotel taxi first before trying to call normal taxi or use application for room is good but service is suck

The location is unique, the building is luxurious and the decor is extremely luxurious.

Suite overlooking the river was very nice and well appointed, with very, clean rooms.

The prices published in Google are far from the real prices of BOOKING or others. It appears an offer of 95 and in booking of 134. It seems deceptive advertising and it happens with many hotels

I don t understand how this hotel is considered 5 stars. The WiFi connection is horrible, and food quality is subpar. The service is atrocious, unless you re a male guest. There is no excuse for lack of professionalism. This is the first and last time I ll stay here.

Nothing but perfect. The staffs are professional, the room is luxurious and spacious, breakfast is delicious and the location is at the center of everything.

At the reception desk, the staff speaks English well and can help in everything, but when you call on the phone, it is very difficult to explain something, and the cleaning ladies do not understand a single word of English at all !!!

The food in the hotel is very good. We were also in the common restaurant for breakfast, there are more hot dishes. And in the exotic lodge, where breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner are offered. Here the choice is not so great, but that's enough. If something is missing, you can order. Better to ask the manager right away, in our case it was Judith, Cuban. She fulfilled all our wishes. If you just ask the waiter, the first thing you will hear is no. They don't want to strain and look for something for you !!!
Yes, you will need a VPN for the Internet, otherwise you can't even use WhatsApp !!!

Kempinski in Shanghai is the first time to stay. Other matures have lived and have a good impression.
Located in the core area of Lujiazui, the traffic is very convenient. This breakfast has a slightly more variety of breakfast. At 6 o'clock, the porridge and the sizzling are all warm, and the food is not very comfortable.
The overall room was good, no obvious problems were found. The doorman at the gate and the front desk were very good. After the executive room was raised, the fruit plate was also delivered.

nice place (considering the price), a bit far from the downtown of Shanghai, but Taxi in China is cheap so it would not be an issue (some taxi drivers are not honest, they may rip tourist off)

High luxury hotel. Very comfy and stylish. I got a room at 22th floor river side. Just super. You can find all the comforts of a 5 stars Hotel. By the way, a few things were not very pleasant. For example they knocked very late at my room to clean up, for example at 8.30 pm. I asked to the desk about the reason and they had no idea... It happened twice. In the bathroom hairdryer was missing. Quite strange. Spa was not the best I've seen. Restaurants are really good as expensive.

Very comfortable room with magnificent view across the river. Bed and bathroom was wonderfully relaxing. Location is fairly decent in the financial area but you get the peacefulness

I have visited Shanghai many times and I have never hesitated to stay at this great Hotel. The kindness of Carlos Chavez, his Manager, makes the stay comfortable and very pleasant, in a climate of cordiality and respect. The impeccable rooms, the attention of your staff, too. A place hundred percent recommended.

Superior City View Room on the 6th floor, large space, comfortable, large TV, separate toilet, bathroom with the same person bathtub, double room without a double bath is a pity. The staff is well served and expects a good trip.

I would highly recommended to stay at this awesome 5-star hotel if you have chance to visit Pudong, Shanghai. Although the hotel is a bit old and need to be renovated soon, the service of the hotel is just fantastic. When I check-in at the hotel, probably around 12pm, I requested for an early check-in as I really wanted to drop down my stuff because I was really tired since I just arrived in the city. The front desk associate was really attentive and helped me upgraded to be upper tier room. As I walked in to the room, I was pretty amazed because the room was spacious, the bathroom was big and comfortable and the room has a beautiful view to the Huangpu River!!

I had honey moon with my wife during the summer. We had over 300 dollars room, but it did not even include breakfast. When we decide to have breakfast they double charge the money for adding it on. They also had very bad attitude to explain it. It seems like they are thinking you are so rich, and you should not care this amount money. They automatic charge 20 % of your total spending for tipping them even they do not have a good service. Only reason I choose this hotel because the location. Since my experienced, please choose other hotels beside this one. They do not deserve 5 Stars hotel. I have no idea how they running this 5 Star hotel. Very disappointed.

Real five stars hotel. Eccellent location, incredible breakfast

The hotel is considered relatively old as the facilities/ furnitures and deco all show the age. The front desk is quite friendly and helpful. Room is spacious. I booked the room with the bund view but the visibility is just okay not so impressive. Surrounded area is mainly business building could be quite inconvenient to get food or shop around here.

The room & is very good. the service was ok too. But for such a hotel, the Mittarbeirer very poor English, the location is only partially ideal if you are there professionally entertaining.

Beautifully furnished and serviced large fully equipped rooms. Stunning lobby and bar. Fantastic views from rooms and bar. Great reception and concierge service. Very highly recommended.

As a top (Black) tier member of the loyalty scheme that this hotel subscribes to, it would be reasonable to expect to be treated with some respect. Instead, we were subjected to a well planned and disgraceful con. We are entitled to a double upgrade which should get us a room with executive lounge access. However on check in we were informed that this would be an additional $115USD per night. Nowhere does it say that this is the hotel policy and it is not consistent with other hotels in the loyalty scheme. It is clearly a deliberate ruse to extract more money from loyal customers. This is very short term thinking as I will not be staying in a Kempinski hotel again. As well, I will be taking my business to a loyalty scheme worthy of its name.

My experience at the Grand Kempinski just keeps getting better and better. The staff at all levels is fantastic. The Lady In Read team is superb with Lolita, Eva, and Bella being standouts.

Housekeeping staff is fantastic, and the show up when needed right away. The lounge is a great place for cocktails at night, and breakfast in the morning.

Judith is the executive lounge manager, and she is very warm, friendly and accommodating.

On many occasions I have required a late check-out because my flight was delayed, and the front desk took care of it no problem.

The rooms are clean and well appointed.

I pay for all my business hotels, and I have stayed in many hotels in Shanghai, however, the Kempinski keeps me coming back every time.

Very good hotel, great food in the executive lounge, unfortunately a star deduction for the Fesnter can not open in the room and therefore very bad air.

Gym small but with an incredible view of the city, swimming pool decent, but the hot tub has an amazing panoramic view of the bund - well worth a soak at night to see the sights.....

Mega hotel with great views. One of the best hotels we have ever visited. Everything is just right here. If we come to Shanghai again, then we'll stay here again! Absolutely recommended!

Great hotel with good proximity to the financial district and other attractions like the Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai World financial Centre, and the Shanghai Tower. Also near to the Liujiazui Metro. Rooms were spacious, with a good bathroom that had an option for both overhead showers and showerhead. Only gripe I had was that the corridor had a really strange smell (13th floor).

The hotel is located within 10 minutes from Lujiazui Station. The Oriental Pearl Tower and Shanghai Ocean Aquarium are less than 5 minutes away from the hotel. The price is lower than other hotels in the surroundings because it is a 5 star hotel, but if more than 2 people are thinking about staying at the hotel, I would recommend that you choose without hesitation. For reference, the concierge's service, which offered solutions to all possible problems, including transportation to the next itinerary, was good enough to give me a personal 6 star rating.

Location, hotel, rooms, service are good. Kempinski lobby front desk is the most visited, about 6 to 7 workstations, so check-in and check-out is smooth and fast, the reception is very friendly and courteous, well-trained, Chinese name is good, you can praise (praise). Walk to the riverside (Binjiang Avenue) Oriental Pearl Tower, Aquarium, visit the core area of Lujiazui Building Group, and bus to Dongchang Road Ferry, which is a good choice. The hotel floor is much higher than the Mandarin Oriental Hotel next door. The river view room is very beautiful, especially during the Spring Festival, the beautiful cruise ships on the river face are endless. The twin beds in the twin room are large, each sleeping 2 adults without pressure, double sinks, the bathtub is very large, the mirror behind the bathroom hanging pajamas is heated, and the warm bathrobe is put in the winter after bathing. It feels amazing! In the end, Kempinski s price has been going to the people s line. During the Spring Festival, the price of 1,000 is very satisfactory, and a good holiday stay. Next time I will order a breakfast.

Impeccable. The rooms are of a good size with shower and bath. Dream spa with a view of the Bound and a 20m swimming pool! An over-equipped gym for athletes. A wonderful breakfast with local and western dishes. Two restaurants offer a variety of culinary styles and a bar in the heights. Several executive floors for professionals on the move. Central position in the financial district, an excellent starting point to visit the city.

Wonderful Hotel, Comfortable rooms, spacious and with a view of the city to take your breath away. Breakfast is more than you can imagine, you find food for all backgrounds, and always fresh. The location is ideal for both business trips and tourism, in the evening the area is very quiet, at 200 meters there is the subway. Tesla cars can be rented on site. RECOMMENDED!!
