Incredibly huge!!! Almost impossible to get something to eat without standing in a line for an hour.
Was there for the RSNA2018 conference, it is huge and very convenient for such big conferences.
Huge place. Good for trade shows and big conferences.
You will be walking forever in this massive conference center
Good venue for Chicago Boat, RV & Strictly Sail show.
Comic con and auto show both were a great experience at this venue
I visited McCormick Place for the Star Wars Celebration. It s a HUGE venue which was sometimes a bit overwhelming but I mean it s Star Wars so you ve got a lot of fans. Although it took me a day to really understand to layout, once I did it was easy to go from panel to panel, get food, find a bathroom etc. When I really needed help I felt comfortable asking employees for directions. They were friendly and helpful. But I would recommend really learning the layout before you go there for a conference or a show or something because it is a HUGE place.
I went to the international machine tool show the imts 2018 and it was really nice it was huge but the map was hard to read and I did not know that the large book they gave me upon entering was a map they need to explain it a little better or have the numbers better in my opinion
Went to the auto show again this year and we had a great experience. Very easy to park and walk right up to the building. Food was good, and bathrooms were all very clean. We always enjoy coming to this event!
Huge convention center. Parking fees are outrageous.
Absolutely huge! Remember to put on a pair of very comfortable shoes. You will be doing a lot of walking
The largest and most quality congress center I have ever seen
Here for Pittcon! It was an amazing experience! The space was great and I couldn't believe how easy it was to navigate the building!
Excellent place!! Very spacious, perfect for important events
Great for conventions and always helpful, friendly staff.
Generic food offerings. Buildings so large they don't have souls.
Just a massive convention hall and plenty of near by parking that will cost you to use. But every convention here is fantastic and the Chicago Auto show may not be the biggest but is still one of the coolest I have seen
Nice convention center, easy to get around. Hidden restaurants within, we didn't even know they sold food there. Luckily we found it on the last day of play at a National Volleyball Tournament.
Wonderful place for a car show, train show, etc. Wonderful environment.
Beautiful convention center in the heart of Chicago! So many amazing events in this gorgeous space!
One of the largest convention centers in the world. It is always fun to go to a convention.
This place is so big it can be overwhelming, but if you ask the staff they are glad to help you navigate the concourses. It makes the experience much better. Especially when you go to an expo like the restaurant show where all three halls are full.
Good convention center with an amazing event like IFT.
Great place for a convention, the area is easily accessible and the space is clean. The concessions were only okay and the prices were high. Bathrooms were fewer than normal and some of the bathrooms in the entrance area were locked when I tried to access them.
Vast space and well built place... One of the few places where you can host big parties or business related fares comfortably
You can easily get lost in here. Overall nice space.
Loved The Auto Show, Didn't think the staff at the McCormick Center helpful in giving directions
Chicago auto show. Very large place. Overall ok, just parking logistics were a little off.
Huge, hosts some of my favorite conventions. I have no problem with McCormick place.
The annual oncology meeting takes place here and the facilities and staff are expectional.
Went there for Lions Club Convention and the building was amazing. You could get lost very easily, but in terms of an event organizer, great building. 30,000 people were in the building at once, but there was room for twice that number and then a couple thousand. Rooms were organized, but the exhibit halls were huge and are the best part of the building.
I came to McCormick Place for C2E2 which is always fun. This is a great place for this convention. It's big enough so that you don't feel like everyone is on top of each other and you're able to see everything you came here to see.
Very busy, but good place to get unloaded, very fast paced efficient though. The Marshaling yard sucks.
Huge place to host the Chicago Auto show. Lots of people were inside but I never felt cramped or to assaulted by overly noisy. Great experience!
Easy to get in and out of parking garage to get back on I55.
Comic Con was a great adventure if you like cosplay ,gaming, DC,MARVEL, autographs from film and tv celebrities..
Need a roller elevator like the airport too far to walk to the theater
I went to the auto show and it was unorganized after we parked...there were no signs on where to go. They had plenty of parking attendants but no one know how to direct us to the event.
Large venue for various conferences. Lots of available bathrooms.
Had been there for auto show. Great auditorium. Ample marking but slight might be heavy on pocket.
Clean, friendly staff, easy to navigate. Great place for a trade show.
Visited during Chicago auto expo. Chicago auto expo is held annual once during February. If you are interested in cars, must visit this place.
You can go try out multiple car on same day. Look into vintage collection.
A very beautiful and big plans to explore. I absolutely love the rooftop garden!
Whether it be for Chicago Marathon, Rock n' Roll Chicago, Hot Chocolate Run, or even The Biggest Loser 5K. I get very excited to visit McCormick Place because it just does not get any better than this as for a venue for health & fitness expo. From its inner and outer beauty of the water fountains located on its premises; to its large maze like architecture which can easily get you lost if not guided by signs. I can honestly never get bored of visiting this place, even though when i visit its food court and businesses are rarely open, but it is not that I care about. Visiting McCormick Place prior to a local weekend race builds that anticipation for what many of us registered for.
McCormick Place does have many other events that take place here, such as the exam to be a Chicago Police officer; The Black Women's Expo; Auto Show; American Diabetes Health and Wellness Expo, plus many more, but honestly I can only speak about what I have visited it for, which is for health & fitness expo.
Getting to McCormick Place is not an issue because if you catch the CTA train it is short of a mile from CTA Cermak - McCormick Place - green line. One headache that you may encounter upon leaving McCormick Place, is a ton of taxi cabs being located in the area which may make it easy for you as a visitor, but trust me it is much more easier and cheaper catching the train. So save yourself the headache from dealing with the traffic, and decrease of money in your bank account from that taxi cab ride to wherever in the city you are going.

Well marked to find what you need. Halls we nice and clean.
Great venue for very large events. Easy to navigate and not far from downtown.
Attended Booth's graduation ceremony. The place is huge and very neat. Was really surprised that they don't have diaper changing stations in the restrooms.
No wonder it's the largest convention center in North America. You can easily get lost walking to and from your car to the event. There's a walkway bridge that connects the parking lot and the administration offices to the exhibition center. Make sure you wear your walking shoes because your feet will be killing you by the end of the day. The parking is pretty outrageous. $20 for parking up to 3 hours and $25 over 3 hours. Management realizes that they have a monopoly over parking prices because there is no street parking anywhere within walking distance of the convention center. Speaking of getting lost. Make sure you remember where you parked because there are 5 parking levels and each level is immense. The food is what you expect it to be, overpriced and underwhelming. Overall, if you take the Metra and bring a snack with you, you should be alright.
So big and beautiful i am usaully in town for c2e2 in April.
I've attended two conventions at McCormick place and both were excellent. Though much of that is up to the conference organizers themselves, the staff at McCormick place that handle coffee bars, lunch layout, and meal prep and presentation worked TIRELESSLY to keep us all hydrated and fed.
Was there for auto show which was ok but is on a steady decline every year. I still enjoy it but less and less every year. The facilities itself is a nice building, ridiculous prices for parking also!
Had a great time. Wish I had gotten there a little earlier for more time!
I was there delivering a trailer to the show and MRI trailer for display on the second level amazing place
um, this place is huge. I am pretty sure you could get lost in here and no one would know until you appeared out of a supply closet 15 years later wearing a loin cloth made out of rat hides and beard filled with Starbucks coffee grounds.
building is big very confusing to walk trough but place is beautiful
Easy to get in and out. Decent food choices for a convention hall
I love visiting the place for annual Islamic events. Plenty of space for lectures, prayers, bazaar etc. Clean building. Support staff are visible all the time. Parking expenses are reasonable. Good food also
Mc Cormick is always an amazing space/place to experience a convention. This years imts was great.
McCormick Place Rooftop Garden: A Green Oasis in the Heart of Chicago
McCormick Place is a name that resonates with anyone who has ever attended a convention or trade show in Chicago. As the largest and most flexible use convention center in North America, McCormick Place has hosted countless events over the years, from political conventions to auto shows to medical conferences. But what many people don't know is that McCormick Place is also home to one of the city's best-kept secrets: a stunning rooftop garden that offers visitors a peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of downtown.
The McCormick Place Rooftop Garden was created as part of an ambitious sustainability initiative launched by the convention center in 2007. The goal was to transform McCormick Place into a model for sustainable urban development, and one of the key components of this effort was the creation of an expansive green roof on top of one of its buildings.
Today, the McCormick Place Rooftop Garden covers more than 2.5 acres and features over 20,000 plants representing more than 100 species native to Illinois. The garden is divided into several distinct areas, each with its own unique character and purpose.
One section features raised beds filled with vegetables and herbs that are used by chefs at McCormick Place's restaurants. Another area showcases native prairie grasses and wildflowers, providing habitat for birds and insects while also helping to manage stormwater runoff.
Visitors can stroll along winding paths through lush gardens filled with colorful blooms or relax on benches overlooking Lake Michigan while taking in stunning views of downtown Chicago's skyline. Interpretive signs throughout the garden provide information about sustainable landscaping practices as well as details about specific plant species.
But perhaps what makes the McCormick Place Rooftop Garden truly special is its role as a living laboratory for sustainable design practices. The garden serves as a testing ground for new technologies such as green roofs, rain gardens, permeable pavement systems, and other innovative approaches to managing stormwater runoff.
In addition to providing an oasis for visitors seeking respite from city life, this green roof also helps reduce energy consumption within McCormick place by insulating against heat loss during winter months while reducing cooling costs during summer months through evapotranspiration processes which cools down surrounding air temperatures naturally without using any energy-intensive equipment like air conditioners or fans.
The rooftop garden has received numerous awards since it opened in 2008 including recognition from Green Roofs For Healthy Cities (GRHC) which named it "Green Roof Project Of The Year" award winner at their annual conference held in Boston back then; it has been featured on national television programs such as PBS' "Growing A Greener World" series; it even made headlines when former President Barack Obama visited during his time at office!
In conclusion,
The McCormick place rooftop garden stands out not only because it provides visitors with breathtaking views but also because it serves as an example for how cities can incorporate sustainable design practices into their infrastructure projects without sacrificing aesthetics or functionality.
It’s no wonder why this hidden gem continues attracting tourists worldwide who want nothing but peace amidst nature’s beauty!
