Good conference facilities let down by poor food choices: limited option, outrageously expensive and as awful service as you can ever fear finding, particularly in one of the Starbucks. (30 minute queue to find they hadn't a clue how to make a cup of tea but we're willing to charge far more than ant Starbucks in the city centre all the same.)

Huge area with attached hotels and plenty of food vendors. We went for the Chicago Auto Show and it was awesome. There was an indoor, off road test track for Jeep and indoor test tracks for Kia and Toyota as well.

Always a joy to come every year for the auto show! This year I was old enough to drive some of the vehicles and ask some serious questions about upgrading from a car to a truck. There was so much to see and do, a one day pass was not enough time.

The facility is kept relatively clean and the crowd for the auto show wasnt too bad on a Friday afternoon. My son said it was a free for all on Saturday with thousands of non car folk crowding the place with snotty nose kids and the kind of people who ignore the "dont touch" signs. Parking is a pain and expensive as are all Chicao venues. If you are not strong willed and instinctive when it comes to driving, you should take an Uber to the auto show...or just avoid the venue all together.

Very nice, spacious convention center in downtown Chicago. The building is laid out very well. The facilities were well maintained and even though we were there for the Auto Show, there was plenty of space for everyone to move around comfortably.

Paid parking lots but always a long walk and just maybe a lapse of memory to get back to your car. The customer service and the other staff members were really helpful. This place is huge so just be prepared to walk. There's a little foodcourt- McDonald's and Connie's pizza and Starbucks that's all I remember seeing. Of course there's public bathrooms, there is also a cab/taxi/uber/lyft drop off and pick up area.

The auto show here was the largest I have attended! I loved seeing all the exotics and regular cars under one roof. The place was huge! However it was packed and hard to move. There had to be at least 60,000 people there today. This will be something I only do once. I would recommend seeing this if you love cars. Try to go during the week.

Parking is a mess. The B lot is outside and to get to the inner c lot as well as the b lot you have to take a bit of a detour and approach it from the lakeside. the A lot is a unicorn. Google maps will take you to the front which is far from the parking lot entrances.

A beautiful convention center where I attended the C2E2 retailer and comic conventions. The convention center was attached to multiple other buildings which allowed me to navigate a few blocks without having to go out into the frigid cold of the Chicago streets.

The center itself had tons of large rooms for displays, panels, meet and greets and information panels. The main hall was huge and where approximately 500 people ate.

It is an easy walk from the Blue Line and during the late evenings its a really quick Uber ride all the way uptown to where I was staying.

Great venue for extremely large events, but not enough quick food vendors, and the signage is seriously lacking. Very confusing maps with no indication of to which side of a square the doors to a particular room open.

This is a massive convention facility dwarfed only by the mega-complexes in Vegas. It can take an hour or longer to walk around the whole thing so make such you arrive in the right building for your event or it can take a while. There are a wide variety of dining, retail and lodging facilities on site but a well-stocked taxi line outside will also connected to the downtown area in about 15 minutes. The path on the lake makes for a welcome break for lunch if you have a conference here, and many rooms have a killer view of the water on a nice day.

Great facility, nice features. I am eating the location itself, not the event held in the location (C2E2 in my case). The facility had expected necessities such as restrooms, as well as niceties su h as available power outlets for us attendees. Facility staff were helpful and knowledgeable about the facility itself, as well as where to go for event-specific information.

About McCormick Place Rooftop Garden

McCormick Place Rooftop Garden: A Green Oasis in the Heart of Chicago

McCormick Place is a name that resonates with anyone who has ever attended a convention or trade show in Chicago. As the largest and most flexible use convention center in North America, McCormick Place has hosted countless events over the years, from political conventions to auto shows to medical conferences. But what many people don't know is that McCormick Place is also home to one of the city's best-kept secrets: a stunning rooftop garden that offers visitors a peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of downtown.

The McCormick Place Rooftop Garden was created as part of an ambitious sustainability initiative launched by the convention center in 2007. The goal was to transform McCormick Place into a model for sustainable urban development, and one of the key components of this effort was the creation of an expansive green roof on top of one of its buildings.

Today, the McCormick Place Rooftop Garden covers more than 2.5 acres and features over 20,000 plants representing more than 100 species native to Illinois. The garden is divided into several distinct areas, each with its own unique character and purpose.

One section features raised beds filled with vegetables and herbs that are used by chefs at McCormick Place's restaurants. Another area showcases native prairie grasses and wildflowers, providing habitat for birds and insects while also helping to manage stormwater runoff.

Visitors can stroll along winding paths through lush gardens filled with colorful blooms or relax on benches overlooking Lake Michigan while taking in stunning views of downtown Chicago's skyline. Interpretive signs throughout the garden provide information about sustainable landscaping practices as well as details about specific plant species.

But perhaps what makes the McCormick Place Rooftop Garden truly special is its role as a living laboratory for sustainable design practices. The garden serves as a testing ground for new technologies such as green roofs, rain gardens, permeable pavement systems, and other innovative approaches to managing stormwater runoff.

In addition to providing an oasis for visitors seeking respite from city life, this green roof also helps reduce energy consumption within McCormick place by insulating against heat loss during winter months while reducing cooling costs during summer months through evapotranspiration processes which cools down surrounding air temperatures naturally without using any energy-intensive equipment like air conditioners or fans.

The rooftop garden has received numerous awards since it opened in 2008 including recognition from Green Roofs For Healthy Cities (GRHC) which named it "Green Roof Project Of The Year" award winner at their annual conference held in Boston back then; it has been featured on national television programs such as PBS' "Growing A Greener World" series; it even made headlines when former President Barack Obama visited during his time at office!

In conclusion,

The McCormick place rooftop garden stands out not only because it provides visitors with breathtaking views but also because it serves as an example for how cities can incorporate sustainable design practices into their infrastructure projects without sacrificing aesthetics or functionality.
It’s no wonder why this hidden gem continues attracting tourists worldwide who want nothing but peace amidst nature’s beauty!
