Were at the auto show. It was super, but there was enough Mercedes and bmw
Parking is far away. Needs moving sidewalks. Staff is great.
Loved the Auto Show, but didn't like the parking, too far of a walk to the Auto Show and a bit expensive. Also, the drive there and back was very congested and slow going!!!
I went there for Chicago auto show. It was really great. Lots of cars and trucks. It was clean and well organized.
President Obama maxde a surprise appearance at a neighborhood forum for his Presidential Library.
Very large, well-maintained, well-laid-out, and with good parking and transit links.
Parking was OK like always it s always a hike to get to the exhibits from the parking lot. Restrooms could use a little help.
Plenty events going on here.. Looking forward to next upcoming events.
Good place for shows and well connected with public transport
Mc Cormick place is a very large conference center. The International Lions Conference was recently held there with 86,000 participants.
Very well cared for.
Great place to see lake Michigan also water fountain
Attended C2E2 here. Huge facility so lots of walking involved.
No complaints about the staff. Security checks were fast and info desks were helpful.
Parking is a pain though. Nothing is free within about a mile of the place.
Lines for food and drinks were horrendous though.
Large facility for meetings and conferences. Food inside is very overpriced! There are nearby restaurants that offer better quality food for much less. Also 20 mins walk from Chinatown.
I always enjoy going to McCormick place for the conventions, C2E2 and the Star Wars Celebration were so much fun!
Love the auto show. We try and go every year. It's a great time for the family. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is cause parking is a nightmare!! We went early to get parking but our friends we were meeting had to turn around and go home cause there was no where to park the parking staff kept directing them back to the interstate. It was only an hour after they opened!!!
Thanks for hosting the IMTS.... You make great things happen!!!
Practical and very comfortable place to visit and do business.
2020 Chicago Auto Show. Always a fun little adventure.
Went for C2E2. Great space for an event like a comic convention.
Went for the auto show. Nice convention center. Bathrooms felt really far from the floor though.
I loved it
Good parking
Nice venue but found it somewhat confusing to navigate
Impressive convention centers. Hard to find drinking water fountains.
Parking is awful, but the center itself is actually way better than many I've been to. It's to. It's bright with a lot of windows in the exhibit area. The meeting room part is easier to navigate than expected.
Largest convention center in the United States, very modern, with services strategically located and very good acoustic
Hey, it's a huge convention center. Generally clean and definitely ample space for moving around. But hey, what else can you say? It's a convention center.
We visited by exhibition participation. The size was huge and the facilities were satisfactory.
I've went to 10+ auto shows here. It's a great looking building, there's plenty of parking and the event staff is helpful.
If you get to go to the building, you'll want to check out the fountains in the main entrance, quite unique and fun for the kids to see.
Is well-organized the parking is very convenient access from the parking lot to the Venue is very easy seeding was outstanding
Were here for the CHI marathon expo. Hughe hughe convention center bit good in shape and awesome organisation
Always find good parking when I m here and the events are wonderful
This place is very cool ... it is a conference and exhibition center ... The center is very large and there is an east building and a western building
Enormous and expensive, but essential and effective
Not much I can really say about McCormick Place... I attended a trade show there.
However transport to McCormick was very easy, to get in and out of the place.
However the coffee shop could do with more tables and more seats, the restaurant could do with more table and more seats, and maybe more food and drink option.
Went there for the boat show and loved it. The McCormick place is huge but really really nice and the Hyatt next to it it's reasonable and very convenient in special during winter or bad weather. There are enclosed passage ways that connect the parking to the hotels and convention center. Modem and nice in one of the best down towns in the US
super huge convention center for whatever needs you may have.
Parking is a nightmare. Finding the right entrance is a nightmare. Getting out of the parking lot is a nightmare. If you can avoid going here, do.
The show was Ok. It was better 2 years ago No Mercedes and no BMW this year. Jeep and Land Rover stole the show Big screens all over the place and Infiniti and Audi were the other 2 big winners.
I frequent many conferences and tool shows here it is huge be ready to spend a whole or multiple days for most shows. Very well set up
I was here for RSNA 2016. I am pleased with how well organized everything was. They are used to accommodate many people.
Great place for events, but everything is very overpriced.
Its McCormik Place, huge convention center, huge parking lots and lots of walking. The size of this place is impressive
I attend the Midwest Clinic here every year. There are a lot of sitting areas outside of the convention floor, several restaurants, and a place to check your coat. The neighborhood around is not bad, but definitely not a touristy area.
McCormick Place Rooftop Garden: A Green Oasis in the Heart of Chicago
McCormick Place is a name that resonates with anyone who has ever attended a convention or trade show in Chicago. As the largest and most flexible use convention center in North America, McCormick Place has hosted countless events over the years, from political conventions to auto shows to medical conferences. But what many people don't know is that McCormick Place is also home to one of the city's best-kept secrets: a stunning rooftop garden that offers visitors a peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of downtown.
The McCormick Place Rooftop Garden was created as part of an ambitious sustainability initiative launched by the convention center in 2007. The goal was to transform McCormick Place into a model for sustainable urban development, and one of the key components of this effort was the creation of an expansive green roof on top of one of its buildings.
Today, the McCormick Place Rooftop Garden covers more than 2.5 acres and features over 20,000 plants representing more than 100 species native to Illinois. The garden is divided into several distinct areas, each with its own unique character and purpose.
One section features raised beds filled with vegetables and herbs that are used by chefs at McCormick Place's restaurants. Another area showcases native prairie grasses and wildflowers, providing habitat for birds and insects while also helping to manage stormwater runoff.
Visitors can stroll along winding paths through lush gardens filled with colorful blooms or relax on benches overlooking Lake Michigan while taking in stunning views of downtown Chicago's skyline. Interpretive signs throughout the garden provide information about sustainable landscaping practices as well as details about specific plant species.
But perhaps what makes the McCormick Place Rooftop Garden truly special is its role as a living laboratory for sustainable design practices. The garden serves as a testing ground for new technologies such as green roofs, rain gardens, permeable pavement systems, and other innovative approaches to managing stormwater runoff.
In addition to providing an oasis for visitors seeking respite from city life, this green roof also helps reduce energy consumption within McCormick place by insulating against heat loss during winter months while reducing cooling costs during summer months through evapotranspiration processes which cools down surrounding air temperatures naturally without using any energy-intensive equipment like air conditioners or fans.
The rooftop garden has received numerous awards since it opened in 2008 including recognition from Green Roofs For Healthy Cities (GRHC) which named it "Green Roof Project Of The Year" award winner at their annual conference held in Boston back then; it has been featured on national television programs such as PBS' "Growing A Greener World" series; it even made headlines when former President Barack Obama visited during his time at office!
In conclusion,
The McCormick place rooftop garden stands out not only because it provides visitors with breathtaking views but also because it serves as an example for how cities can incorporate sustainable design practices into their infrastructure projects without sacrificing aesthetics or functionality.
It’s no wonder why this hidden gem continues attracting tourists worldwide who want nothing but peace amidst nature’s beauty!
