I've always loved this place! Great selection of plants with some standard varieties always available. Stock rotated regularly. I've had to return only one in all these years. Staff are very helpful and patient with novices. All the plants in my home and office come from here and I'm never disappointed with how well they do. They also have an impressive inventory of outdoor statuary, faux flowers, greenery, fall bulbs, decorative pots, soil, etc. If they don't have what you are looking for, just ask!

Have been a customer since 1999. Have bought citrus trees, jasmine, roses and garden statuary/pots; and have found their expertise and helpfulness well worth the premium charged. Victoria who runs the rose department's about as knowledgeable a rosarian as they come, and her 2 go to guys (Corneliu and Charlie) are respectable back-ups when she's unavailable. All businesses should be a well-run, well-stocked, and customer-friendly.

My daughter & I are never disappointed by the quality & variety of plants here. Their customer service is the main reason why we return time & time again. After we re done shopping, we enjoy just sitting and admiring the beauty of this nursery and watching how customers are treated.

The reviews here speak highly of the Gethsemane staff, and they're not wrong! The staff really take the time to ask you questions which I have never had at other garden centers. The potted plants are rather expensive, but you can see that they were grown with a lot of care and attention. Quality is miles ahead of Menards and Home Depot. Flowers have a lot of buds and vegetable plants have a good yield too. However, I would avoid buying pots, planters, gardening tools, or brand-name sprays from here as they were significantly more pricey compared to other retailers.

You can never find certain plants. Unless it's online and they only come in 1 foot tall. But here at Gethsemane's they have lots of varieties & hard to find plants! In great sizes. I've been looking everywhere & online for DEGROOTS SPIRE! I sent them an email and responded that they had it. They knew what I was looking for! thank you!

I love the selection of houseplants. I found a special Hoya here I couldn't find anywhere else. Prices are higher but not terrible. Customer service on the floor was good but I was disappointed with an error the cashier made. I was undercharged for a plant which she asked me to pay the difference of, which was fine. But then I got home and glanced at my receipt only to realize she overcharged me by $6 for another plant. Ugh. Anyway, still can't beat the beautiful green house and great selection.

We bought our christmas tree here in 2017. They have a large stock, and although they are priced a little more expensively than Home Depot, the quality is better. We paid $85 for a 7 foot tree, which was very full, and not dried out at all. When we've bought trees from Home Depot in the past, they've sucked up a few liters of water immediately because they were so dry. The buying experience is great here. You get better customer service for the higher price. They have trees hanging from the roof so that you can turn them around and see them from every side before you buy. Then you just take off the tag and give it to one of the many staff members, and they will wrap up your tree while you pay for it. They also help you get it tied on top of your car. There is a delivery option too, but we didn't use it.

Went to Gethsemane in search of some annuals to decorate my porch, and wow! I felt like I needed to take out a loan in order to get the plants I wanted. The annuals section didn t seem to be as well kept as the perennials. It seemed like there were too many plants and that some were wilted because there were too many to tend to. Kind of disappointing for the prices. Otherwise, had nice experiences with the floor staff and liked the selection of planters though I couldn t afford to get one and something to put into it...ha

Amazing oasis of plants, shrubs and trees nestled in Edgewater that sprawls along Clark street. Great place to spend time on a rainy day. Permanent staff are knowledgable and eager to help. They do a great job of changing inventory with the season, so there's always new things to see. Inventory of trees and shrubs surrounds a circular walkway so you see how they look year round, and prices are clearly marked. Tropicals greenhouse has impressive plants, albeit at equally impressive prices. Broad selection of annuals and perennials. Prices are reasonable for a well staffed location inside the city. Some of the best values are at the annual sidewalk sales and seasonal close outs. You can roll the dice at a big box store and buy common plants at a discount that were delivered the night before. Or, you can pay a bit more for larger, healthy stock with a much wider selection to choose from at Gethsemane.

I discovered this garden center after a few seasons of dying flower beds almost made me want to give up keeping a plant alive. Now I buy all of my herbs and perennials here because they're higher quality and the staff are very helpful with recommending the right kind for your light/soil situation. They also have a beautiful selection of Christmas trees, they're pricier than the corner lot but the trees and in better shape and stay green longer.

When I say "let the piece be with you", I am not lying! Gethsemane is super peaceful and I happy to have it located right in my neighborhood. I wanted to get my first plant and didn't know where to begin. Once I entered the garden house, I was assisted by a great sales associate. He "showed me the ropes" and advised my on the best plant for me! The garden house had had wide variety of plant babies. Yoy will definitely find whatever you are looking for. Overall is was a great experience and I recommend you check them out.

We ve bought three different plants from here, each a different year, and all three have had spider mites. Not only are these hard to get rid of, they ended up eating our plants overtime and all money lost. We have purchased plants from smaller shops in the area with no problems at all. Therefore, I would not recommend throwing your money away for houseplants here.

I love Gethsemane! Sure, some of the plants might be a little more expensive than other places sometimes, but the plants are always good looking and healthy! The employees there are all super friendly but most importantly, knowledgeable. They all seem like they actually enjoy caring for plants instead of just having a job. I recommend this place to anyone who loves collecting plants. There is also free parking, which is a plus in Edgewater!

Your #1 spot for buying plants AND getting the best quality advice. Even if you don t have a green thumb, the folks in the greenhouse are incredibly experienced, always speaking with a smile. I really enjoy my visits here, especially as someone who has become a plant parent. Very LGBTQ friendly! They use gender-neutral language in their customer service, and I ve loved every visit. PLEASE SUPPORT GETHSEMANE!

An amazing home and garden store + gift shop that spans two city blocks. A one-stop shop for indoor and outdoor plant needs, and more. If you're seeking a unique, artisanal greeting card for a special birthday or wedding, you will also find it here--they've got one of the nicest (if not the best!) selections in the city.

I like plants. They got 'em. Knowledgeable staff who take the time to let you know each plant's care plan. There is almost too much stuff to sift through. The plant prices are reasonable. Some of the other stuff, fountains, planters, and incense, seems astronomical. 800 for a fountain, small plaster planter, 75, incense 15, while a larfe two panel wooden trellis is 35. Pick and choose what makes sense for you, and enjoy the great outdoors

A truly exceptional nursery and garden center. Not only is their selection far beyond anything you'll find at a big box store, but every single staff member is knowledgeable about the items you are considering purchasing. I have learned some great gardening tips over the years shopping with them.
