I ve been here many times for the Chicago auto show and every year it s a blast! The grounds are kept clean and they have friendly staff. Parking sometimes is hard to find. But you get that wherever there s a mass of people!

McCormick Places contacts with Freeman for many of their events. This was my recent experience with Freeman at an event at McCormick Place.

We were required to work with Freeman for the IFT18 convention.

1. They refused a delivery of show supplies that arrived at the proper time and were properly labeled. They then requested UPS Redeliver them AFTER the show. To fix the problem we had to hire a private courier company at additional expense.

2. They failed to used the provided Bill of Lading for the return shipment resulting in the shipment being lost, costing more and being improperly insured.

3. The freight was damaged in shipment and wouldn't have been a big issue, but because Freeman didn't use the proper BOL, the insurance process is in limbo.

4. 10 plus phone calls to try and get the problem sorted out and NOT ONE RETURN PHONE CALL.

DO NOT WORK WITH FREEMAN. IF YOU ARE REQUIRED TO WORK WITH FREEMAN CONSIDER NOT ATTENDING THE TRADE SHOW. IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING USING FREEMAN TO MARSHALL YOUR CONVENTION, DON'T.

Carpets are gross. Spent 3 days there and found a clump of dust and carpet debree along the side line of the banquet room. After 3 days my dust allergies were so bad i had a full blown sinus infection. With all of the dust and foot traffic they need better vacuums or filters. Security guard chased me down when walking from hilton garden in to the south plaza. I had an overnight lte night entry pass and the door was broken... really secure guys! And then they didnt have lights on so i walked all the way from the south plza to the garden in ... pretty much... in the dark. Only McDonalds and Connies pizza was available. Durong a dance event. We could have had great use of a starbucks as the hotel hilton vendors were swamped. Why were no other restaurant spaces open and avail through the weekend? Probably because its chicago and union so the event would lay but with dancers and dance moms the dunkin opening at 8 am didnt cut it ( we started at 645 all 3 days) that starbucks could have made $$$$$$$ from the traffic going to and from cars or hotels AND I bet people would have walked for it becUse the "serves starbucks coffee" is not the real deal. I wanted a sandwhich or salad so.ething light healthy and not premade and left out in a deli market by ???? Just bad experience this year.

Huge place, great for conventions like the one I went to. I get anxiety pretty easily when there's a crowd and this place made it easy for me to find an exit or just an unoccupied space. Will definite come back for future conventions.

The auto show was fun but not as much as the last few years. There were entirely TOO MANY YOUNG CHILDREN at the show this year. The should be an age restriction. Overall, it was great seeing both classics and futuristic prototypes!

About McCormick Place Rooftop Garden

McCormick Place Rooftop Garden: A Green Oasis in the Heart of Chicago

McCormick Place is a name that resonates with anyone who has ever attended a convention or trade show in Chicago. As the largest and most flexible use convention center in North America, McCormick Place has hosted countless events over the years, from political conventions to auto shows to medical conferences. But what many people don't know is that McCormick Place is also home to one of the city's best-kept secrets: a stunning rooftop garden that offers visitors a peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of downtown.

The McCormick Place Rooftop Garden was created as part of an ambitious sustainability initiative launched by the convention center in 2007. The goal was to transform McCormick Place into a model for sustainable urban development, and one of the key components of this effort was the creation of an expansive green roof on top of one of its buildings.

Today, the McCormick Place Rooftop Garden covers more than 2.5 acres and features over 20,000 plants representing more than 100 species native to Illinois. The garden is divided into several distinct areas, each with its own unique character and purpose.

One section features raised beds filled with vegetables and herbs that are used by chefs at McCormick Place's restaurants. Another area showcases native prairie grasses and wildflowers, providing habitat for birds and insects while also helping to manage stormwater runoff.

Visitors can stroll along winding paths through lush gardens filled with colorful blooms or relax on benches overlooking Lake Michigan while taking in stunning views of downtown Chicago's skyline. Interpretive signs throughout the garden provide information about sustainable landscaping practices as well as details about specific plant species.

But perhaps what makes the McCormick Place Rooftop Garden truly special is its role as a living laboratory for sustainable design practices. The garden serves as a testing ground for new technologies such as green roofs, rain gardens, permeable pavement systems, and other innovative approaches to managing stormwater runoff.

In addition to providing an oasis for visitors seeking respite from city life, this green roof also helps reduce energy consumption within McCormick place by insulating against heat loss during winter months while reducing cooling costs during summer months through evapotranspiration processes which cools down surrounding air temperatures naturally without using any energy-intensive equipment like air conditioners or fans.

The rooftop garden has received numerous awards since it opened in 2008 including recognition from Green Roofs For Healthy Cities (GRHC) which named it "Green Roof Project Of The Year" award winner at their annual conference held in Boston back then; it has been featured on national television programs such as PBS' "Growing A Greener World" series; it even made headlines when former President Barack Obama visited during his time at office!

In conclusion,

The McCormick place rooftop garden stands out not only because it provides visitors with breathtaking views but also because it serves as an example for how cities can incorporate sustainable design practices into their infrastructure projects without sacrificing aesthetics or functionality.
It’s no wonder why this hidden gem continues attracting tourists worldwide who want nothing but peace amidst nature’s beauty!
