My sister has been there 29 years as of April 29, 2019. We went to visit her on that day. The graves in the single section side just don't seem to be kept up. When we got the vase out finally, none of the faucets there worked. I had to walk to another section to clean it. Grass should be planted under the trees near the road. There used to be a bench around that area, lot 12. It is gone and not another one near. I am very disappointed in my visit there. We were given wrong directions to the gravesite, as we did not quite remember, and wasted time that was to be spent with her driving around, but we accidentally found it, after an hour at the cemetery.

Loosing a family member is never easy, there are so many things that you have to process and do and doing that while grieving is a great challenge. We are forever thankful to the Laurel Land staff, in particular our funeral director Ms. Debra and Ms. Yolanda for being there for us, guiding us, and being compassionate & accommodating while we planned services for my mother in law. Even after a month since we lost my mother in law, we have reached out to them for things that have come up post services and they continue to be quick and courteous to respond. On behalf of the Salas, Chavez & Najera families, thank you!

The maintenance crew is horrible! My Mother passed in 1990, and my Niece and I are out at the gravesites often, because her Mother is buried next to mine... I have to continually call the Maintenance Dept regarding the up keep Of the graves. They were asked to perform a service, and they half did the work. I went to the office and asked them to redo the job. When My Niece went out there Christmas, they had took the flowers from my Mom s grave and threw the flowers every where. Pictures were taken, and I am reporting them to the BBB and also writing a letter to the Attorney General Of Texas. They are not taking care of the Park. Loved Ones are buried here. Their maintenance crew is ridiculous! I truly intend to report them and, and I am thinking about reporting them to the media.....

The definition of a top notch service. My family and I can't say enough about the professionalism of my Mother's funeral service. We were extremely pleased with our funeral director George Lewis. He is definitely one of the best. I work in this industry. It is very difficult to combine empathy and professionalism. Mr. Lewis did it with ease. We were very impressed at such a difficult time. Thanks to all that assisted with my mother Anita. We are grateful.

My father and I were very impressed and pleased with the staff and property of Laurel Land in Dallas. My parents had paid for their arrangements over 30 years ago and the staff went above and beyond to help us with the last minute costs, changes and arrangements.

First I would like to say that the facility was amazing. Tracy Hunter was the representative
that impressed me so with his professionalism as well as his service to make everyone comfortable. I got a complete tour of the facility when I arrived early. He was very friendly and accommodating. Tracy will always be my first choice when choosing Laureland. I was very satisfied with his service.

My nephew Andre was laid to rest here November 2014. He was only 19. Taken before his time. Huge crowd showed to pay their respects. Thank you to all who did. But the staff was not sympathetic at all. Maybe because the crowd was large and it wasn't their loved one? They were rushing people as they stopped to hug my sister. Putting their hands against people's backs to usher them on . Gesturing with their hands to people..to urge them forward. I found it very uncalled for and rude. I spoke up and apologized to one of them. Told her I was sorry that my nephew was so loved and that my sister losing her beloved son was such an inconvenience. It just broke my heart.
We even had to carry my nephew by hand to his resting place in the cold, drizzling rain because they charged several hundred dollars(that she was unprepared for)to take him ON SITE to his resting place. Like funerals aren't expensive and stressful enough?! I mean, he was laid to rest IN laurel land..at the least.. it should of been a courtesy. But being carried by his closest family and friends..followed by his mother and 300 people who showed ...turned out to be a beautiful..sad moment.

we as a family have been very fortunate to have a representative by the name of Kelsey Rutherford to help us get through this trying time. she has been extremely helpful and if it was a star for 6 that she would get that from our family. she's been extremely helpful in any way that we've had needed to have anything done and we would recommend using her in any circumstances you might have.

Absolutely disgusting. My brother has been here since 2003 and somehow every year it has gotten worse, but since the new management, it makes the old look great. Laurel Land only takes care certain areas, while in others such as Psalms, Gospel, and Islamic Garden, they have absolutely no respect for the dead and make a mess. They will run over the graves without even being careful and instead of cleaning up the area after holidays, they leave everything there until it eventually blows over to the other side where it is no longer on their property. They even got rid of the only trash can in that area where we could properly throw away our own items. They do not care about this area at all. They have broken the grave stones all over this area and nearly completely buried others into the ground do to their lack of care. So many other areas are well taken care of due to the trees, they have no choice but to be careful, however the one area with a lack of trees is what gets destroyed. They do not care about the graves at all. They have ruined so many beautiful stones by running over them consistently and failing to clean up. If I could give negative stars, I would. Even if you happen to be able to get a place elsewhere within Laurel Land, I highly suggest you find another home as it is clear Laurel Land does not care for respecting the dead and their families who come to visit. I have grown tired of calling in and complaining about this issue as those of us with family buried in these areas have been ignored time and time again. Do not use this place as a final resting place for your loved ones. Find them a good place that respects them regardless of their location.

I appreciate the caring and compassionate, attention to detail and professionalism exuded by the Laurel Land Funeral home staff. Mr. Arthur Mitchell and Mr. Earl Anderson are the lighthouse to your emotional storm that overtakes you with the loss of a loved one. I truly appreciate the kindness and endless patience that was given to me and my family during this difficult time.

Laurel Land as a whole is a fabulous facility and they did a wonderful job with my mother for the viewing she looked amazing. Programs, obituary and memory video were all very elegant and professional. Arthur was our person and he was amazing in making sure all was taken care of. As a critique I think the reception people in the funeral home should work on customer service. They were rude to myself and to some of my family members. They do not offer a pleasant greeting when you walk in but offer a what do you want type attitude. I do not believe the celebrant service was worth the extra expense either as this person barely did anything for us. However, Arthur made sure all was taken care of so it was not a big deal. I will definitely use Laurel Land again in the future.

The acts of kindness, concern, compassion, and helpfulness went above professional responsibility. The staff was caring and warm. My family and I will always remember my husband's celebration due to your funeral home. Thanks the Campbells

I needed information on burial property for verification. Not only did i recieve it within 24 hours. The young lady made a copy prepared for mailing and a copy for my records.
My stress was relieved by her taking this extra step for me. Thank you Chametria Jones for your extraordinary service.

My mother Mary Luna was interred at Laurel land last August. Mr. Tracy Hunter was so kind, gracious, understanding, courteous and professional. I m sorry I m late with my review. With it being Mother s Day weekend I think of her especially right now. Thanks to everyone that assisted with her funeral you were all such a blessing to our entire Luna family.

To say disappoint in how my Aunts arrangements were handled is putting it nicely. This is a time of mourning for a family and the funeral home is supposed to be the professional at making it easier.
My mother and her sisters had to go out there multiple times as they could not get the paperwork correct including her name. They called after and asked about her arrangements again as if they did not exist and needed to be redone again.
My mother received a text message addressed to her deceased sister asking if she was happy with the services.
On the date of the service the funeral home had the time wrong and called my family asking where they were. Some friends were even told they had missed the services which had not even occurred so they left missing the actual funeral.
The website was never updated with the services information either.

We have used this as a family cemetery since the 1970 s and the last memories of our Aunt should not be frustration over the lack of organization shown.

As a cemetery explorer, I find that this cemetery is in poor condition. Most of the monuments are in need of serious restoration and the flag on the Pearl Harbor monument is in need of retirement. It also is at half staff... this extremely disrespectful to both the military and to the nation.

I did however talk to a lady today by the name of Charma McBay. We had a great conversation about cemetery and the managements plan to educate the staff on the history of Laurel Land.

I will be happy to visit here again.

I love visiting this cemetery. it is serene, beautiful and the sculptures and reflection areas are both unique and plentiful. the neighborhood surrounding it arrears to be respectful and the groundskeepers do a very good job keeping the lawns looking nice and the place quite clean.

oh and a quick note, Stevie Ray Vaughn is buried here. so thats neat.

Laurel Land recently hosted the Homegoing of my cousin, Jimmy Toleston. This was not the first time to reach out to Laurel Land. They have been the place for all my family, Mother, Father, Grandmother, Grandfather, you name it. My normal go-to guy, Joseph Brewer, who I have referred friends to is no longer with Laurel Land, but I was able to reach out to him and he referred me to Arthur Mitchell, who gave us the same excellent service that Joseph provided. Arthur was professional, attentive and had great follow-up. I would and do recommend Laurel Land to any friends looking for a compassionate and caring place for their family member.

Laurel Land was the best choice for my Dad s service and final resting place. From the first phone call I placed, to the final thank you and goodbye, and every detail in between everything was so well taken care of and attended to by the caring staff there making the process and services seamless. Mr. Tracy Hunter was our funeral director, and from start to finish, he handled everything with such grace, compassion and professionalism. My Dad would have been so proud! Tracy helped us to coordinate a perfect service to honor, celebrate and embody who my Dad was. No detail was left out and every request was met without any hesitation. I truly felt as if each representative of Laurel Land that we encountered was an extension of our own family and friends because of their compassionate approach and care.

Ask for Earl! He followed up with me and made accommodations based on my schedule. He took me and my family through the process and laid everything out so we could understand next steps. I highly recommend coming here when it comes time to make difficult decisions.

I am so glad I arranged for my funeral at Laurel Land. I thought it would be a morbid experience , but it wasn't. Earl Anderson was so kind and helpful and patient with me and my friend. My friend can be very bossy with others. She was pretty aggressive with him, but he dominated the situation and she raved about him afterwards! W even tried to get him to.go with us to lunch.

My mother who was cremated wanted to be buried with my father in his casket. They charge an additional $2500 for this. They say it is to give her a legal right to be there. If I hadn't promised her we would put them to rest by her parents in the plots we already owned, we would have walked.

Hey Laurel Land, enjoy the $2500. If you hadn't been so greedy, you could have talked me into buying additional plots and prepaid plans.

Chris and Terri walked my family through at our own pace the entire process. They were very understanding and compassionate. Jim spoke on behalf of our family and he did a wonderful job I felt like he knew our son, it was like someone in the family was speaking for us. Jana gave us all the time we needed with our baby even after everyone was gone she allowed us as much time as we wanted. She gave us hugs and made as feel the love and support that we needed. Although this is a place of business, Chris, Jim, Terri, and Jana made it feel like we were with family and not at a place of business. There is no judgement only compassion, love, and understanding. I cannot say enough to thank the wonderful people at Laurel Land. This is the worst time in our life and they help so much. Also on the day of the viewing there was a very nice young lady at the front desk and I made a last-minute decision to put flowers with my baby boy and she made sure I was able to do that she showed such care and love. Without hesitation she offered assistance and I I truly truly truly from my heart appreciate everyone at Laurel Land. Chris, Jim, Terri, Jana, and the young girl at the reception desk I didn't get her name. You all touched our hearts and made the service beautiful and full of love for our baby boy thank you so very much we are truly grateful.

We really appreciate the service that Arthur Mitchell provided for our dear sister Pastor Beverly Baylock. I and everyone in my family keep lamenting that we could not have done better no matter where we would have gone!!
Thanks Arthur Mitchell and Laurel Land, Dallas Tx.

Not only do they write contracts they have no intention of standing by (do not get prepaid funeral services from them- they wrote a contract - did not provide services for the person who signed the contract and passed away - but continued collection efforts on the written contract/policy THREE MONTHS after the passing!!! ) but when you file a formal complaint with the BBB they do not answer at all. We will be moving forward with this - do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Also, some of the reviews showing positive notations have been created by staff or family members of the staff - beware of that as well.

Couldn t be more horrible. Buried my grandmother here. First they opened our personal mail that were sympathy cards mailed to my mom which is a federal offense, secondly they never mailed the death certificates after calling twice, sat down for three and a half hours to sign papers after we had a preened, that should have taken thirty minutes....I mean the list goes on. Gave us 40 minutes to write the obituary and was full of spelling errors. Think that some flowers were stolen because after the grave site some were gone. After loosing a loved one this is the last thing a person should experience. I m livid, upset and shocked that these people would take advantage of anyone going through a horrible time. And of course tried to up sale you on all the burial items.

Laurel Land was the only choice for me and my family when my mother passed. My mother, Beverly Baylock was treated with the utter most care and love. My mother was very sick her last week on earth and when they finished she lookd as if she had never been sick. The Director Authur Mitchell was professional on every level. He phoned daily and always invited me to come up and speak with him whenever I needed to. In the days to come, I would hope that the the Dignity organization would find and hire 10 more Authur Mitchells... the business can not help but grow!!
Thanks For All You Did To Make My Family and I Feel Comforted In Our Time Of Lost!!!

The lady Latisha is a liar. My mother and brother went to make arrangements to pay out my grandmother's headstone. At the time they (my mom & brother) had $200-$250 to put down on it, Latisha said she could NOT take their $200-$250 and it had to be a certain percentage of the headstone total. However, another one of my family members came in (a man) and she (Latisha) took his $200 and started the contract. This is why I really do not like dealing with my own kind (black people) when it comes to business. Sorry to say, just unfair, lies, attitudes, and unprofessional. If her supervisor acknowledge this review, she'll lie her way out of it but it is what it is. I guess she thought he was single and was flattered by him.

Contacted Laurel Land regarding the vases on the markers for my mother and sisters grave. Charmetria Avery-Jones called me promptly the next day and answered my questions. She actually went to the grave sites, took pictures and emailed them to me to ensure that all was at it should be. I always find the associates at Laurel Land to helpful and courteous. My family has used them for years.

This review is past due, but I think that it is important that I share my experience with Laurel Land Funeral Home. My beautiful grandmother purchased several plots years ago. Due to the fact that she was bedridden and had begun to experience signs of dementia, I contacted Laurel Land in order to explore options. Compassionate, professionalism and a heart of gold are words that describe the amazing Kelsey Rutherford. She explained my options and simplified the process. She is top-notch and is truly a shining example of exemplary service. I will certainly direct my friends and family members to Laurel Land for future business. Special Thanks for Kelsey for providing paramount service.

A very very beautiful, outstanding person. And Thank you Mariah for all that you have done into making this easy for us in this difficult time.

Laurel Land recently provided superb services for my mom. The funeral director was Mr. Arthur Mitchell and he made sure our loved was taken care of and he was patient and took great care of the family and took a lot of stress of of the arrangement process. It was a pleasant experience and a smooth process. The service provided was over and beyond what I expected and what I've experienced in the past with another funeral home. I would gladly recommend them to anyone and I will use them again should the need arise. Great service Mr. Mitchell!

This place is very unprofessional. My niece was buried September 2017. As of today they have been lying about her tombstone installation. Originally it was to be installed before her birthday June 2108. We were all geared up to have a balloon release to celebrate her life at and around her new tombstone which had not been placed because someone dropped the ball and never ordered. So now were told that it had to be reordered and should be here in 8 weeks. Yesterday my sis received a letter stating that the tombstone had been installed. We were so happy. We loaded up again, grabbed her kids, got flowers to be highly disappointed. NO TOMBSTONE! Now were are sitting in the office being told more lies. They put us in a back room so we couldn't heard by anyone.

During a very stressful and overwhelming time, we were assured that we could transfer within Dignity. However now, whenever we call up to Laurel Land either the person we talk to say they'll call us back and never do, don't have the authority to help us, or don't know what we're talking about. Another location within Dignity has sent everything over to Laurel Land and assured that there is no problem with transferring it over, however Laurel Land can't give us the same assurance. I don't understand why they can't seem to call us back, or get us in touch with someone who can help us out. Is this really the experience Laurel Land wants to be known for?

I could not have asked for a better partner in planning a celebration of life for my dear brother. Our loved one passed away unexpectedly and I was certain that I would not have the strength to pull together final arrangements. Arthur Mitchell and the Laurel Land staff were equally comforting and professional. The services and accommodations were top notch with an elegant touch.

In the most sorrowful time in my family s life, I am glad that we entrusted Arthur Mitchell, Laurel Land and the Dignity brand with my loved one. I will remember those final moments with pride with a homegoing befitting of his profound impact on us and the community. Thank you, Laurel Land for making these tough decisions a little bit easier.

*Ask for Arthur Mitchell. He is AMAZING!

Our sincerest gratitude,

It's with great honor that I give this review to Laurel Land Funeral Home. They deserve more than five stars or a perfect 10 rating. Their services were beyond excellent. Our funeral director Christopher Jordan was helpful from beginning to end, day or night.
He definitely works beyond the call of the hours of duty. He has a great sense of humor that kept us smiling. You can't forget to smile when you lose a loved one because life will carry on. Weldon Hadnot was another staff member that helped us. He was great as well and carried that same excellent sense of humor. The communication also excellent with both of these guys. Email responses and text responses were always answered right away.
The Establishment is beautiful and a great place for a family to entrust their loved ones. Everything is in one place from the Chapel to a reception room to a wonderful resting place just beyond the building. I would highly recommend Laurel Land Funeral Home.

Ignorance is not bliss. We selected Laurel Land Cemetery the final resting place for my loved one. The staff claims ignorance for features and amenities that are (1) claimed in their services and are (2) table stakes in today's society.

They did not know how to play a DVD on the TV or how to set up an account for online bill pay. It is 2019. I'm serious. I'm upset because they literally claim to not know how to set up an account for online bill pay.

The long version: We made a custom tribute video for the family to view after the burial. Not only did Laurel Land not communicate with the funeral home to make sure the DVD worked with their tv, they didn't try it out and (most hurtful) did not CARE that it didn't play. The attendant was completely aloof. Aloof has no place when you are serving people who are grieving, sleep deprived and playing hostess!

To put salt in the wound, they are a member of Dignity Memorial - a large, publicly traded business in the death care industry. I literally called both the corporate office and the cemetery for 3 weeks, leaving voicemail after voicemail for various staff members with no call back and no resolution. The poor office attendant got to know me by name! To make matters worse, the corporate office states that these matters have to be handled locally. The local office doesn't call back. This is unacceptable. Now because of their ignorance and lack of communication, I'm not sure we can secure the additional plots we purchased for remaining family members.

Clearly this is a high-stress time for families. The staff personnel does not make this time easier at all. I feel taken advantage of and thrown away during a very sensitive time. Shame on you all for how you treat grieving families.

From the minute we walked in the doors after mom passed, Laurel Land provided comfort and ease for my brothers and I. They were easily accessible by phone, text message and even email. I thought for the most part that everything went well. I was disappointed that the live feed did not start at the beginning and that there was no 21 gun salute at the gravesite as Bobby deserved that.

I did appreciate how good Bobby looked when during Michelle and I had our private visitation and the genuineness shown my family during our meetings. Thank you.

Jamye was such a pleasure to work with when planning my father s viewing. Everything was really nice on the day of and the staff was really sweet when we ran over on time at the viewing. They let us stay and say our goodbyes as long as we needed. Jamye also made it really easy to plan how to get cremation necklaces ordered and sent out to me and my siblings who live out of state. When I accidentally had the necklaces sent to the wrong address, Jamye volunteered to pick them up for me since I had no way of doing so because I was two states away. I was low key freaking out and thinking I might have to order new ones when Jamye went way above and beyond expectations and completely saved the day for me. I can t thank her enough! She is not only a fantastic representative for Laurel Land Funeral Home, but she is also a kind, caring and awesome human being! Thank you so much for being there for me and my family!

Well my experience was way too high, they need to cut it, after finding the same pkg plus some for half the price, and lied about embalming to get "some money" once we decided to transfer, oh and that transfer fee plus the embalming, take off an arm to pay for it. Ijs (you are paying for the name only don't be fooled)

It s not as good as I thought it would be had my moms burial there they had us wait outside in the road cause they didn t have the hole ready and not only that they also had us wait longer cause there was water in the burial hole we did the last of my moms funeral on top of the graveyard but yeah they wanted every single cent before anything and they didn t have nothing ready and also I ve paid for her head stone in Nov of 2020 and now it s Jan 2021 going on February and they still haven t put her head stone very disappointing.... Just letting you know before you pay make sure everything goes ok and is done right...

Dear Mr. Mitchell and Staff,

Dear Mr. Mitchell and Staff,

In support of my father, Clinton Calhoun Jr., words can't express our sincere gratitude for the outstanding service provided by Laurel Land Funeral Home, Dallas, TX. We were thoroughly impressed from initial greetings from the receptionist and other staff members, to the greatness and kindness during discussions with Mr. Mitchell, to the limo drivers, to the final ceremony and repass. It was quite impressive and very memorable. All aspects of the process were conducted with highest esteem for the family and extremely professional. Again, thank you so much for my father services.

Thank you,
A.C.
