What a great campground!! The best staff ever!!! You def have to reserve in advance, but #worthit.
What a great campground!! The best staff ever!!! You def have to reserve in advance, but #worthit.
This place is absolutely beautiful! Quiet little campground with lots of big trees and perfect size sites for a tent or small trailer. Completely surrounded by mountains and views of the glaciers as far as camping spots go this place is hard beat!!!
Clean large campgrounds. Only complaint is that tents and trailers are separated, so our group was in two different parks. The tent area has an electric fence around it to protect them from the abundance of bear activity!
It was closed when we were there but great cross country skiing trails were cut!
I have been camping here almost every year since the last 5 years and i still want to come back, npt only is it close to lake louise but also very close moraine lake and it has the option of the village marketplace nearby, it is also one of the only campgrounds with a fence and very clean washrooms and a helpful staff.
Nice place. Got a new boyfriens named Leo 6-7 years old from Germany. In september 2011. We will never forget you .
We visited the campground in October and snow decided to visit us too. Facilities were clean but wish they had more of them. The camp sites are easy in and easy out. It was not as busy during this time but all worked well. Very close to all things. great stop on the way to Jasper.
amazing place, one of the most amazing places I've been to in my trip to canada
Noisy, almost impossible to stake down a tent due to the hard gravel ground. Also strict rules on like, max 2 tents per site. Psh.
Very beautiful setting, sites has lots of privacy. Showers and toilets are clean. Only one thing, close to railway tracks, train sounds will wake you up in the middle of the night.
Great place for the family, with plenty of activities nearby! Campground is always well maintained.
Great camp ground. Stay in the tenting grounds protected with electric fencing. Nice bathrooms free firewood breath taking views. Would stay here again and would highly recommend this place
Excellent "glamping". Very chill place.
Bathrooms were very clean and people are very friendly.
Half of the bathrooms/sinks are out of service. You have to pay an extra $8.50 per day if you want to use your fire pit. Lots of highway and train noise. The spots are big and fairly private
The location is defenetly great, and the shelter is really nice with electricity so you can be inside of the shelter with the light on. BUT: lots of the restrooms were out of service, and although the shower was very good- it was not clean and it didn't seem that someone cleans it every day
Expensive and not enough facilities only 2 toilets in the washroom and usually a lineup regardless of the time of day.
Good location but you can't see any mountains from the campground I'd stay in Banff next time and come to lake Louise for the day.
Beautiful wooded camp site, the anti-bear fence lays the foundations! Nice flat pitches, firewood for free fire. Worries: showers and trash bins too far from part of the campsite.
Very Nice campground. Very well maintained. Showers included. Inexpensive
We are a Brazilian couple, we camped two nights here. The bathroom could be cleaner and have more shower areas. But overall it's fine.
Beautiful views, got good and spacious campsite by luck. Close by river. But in one washroom there was no hit water. No shower due to Covid. Free fire wood but cost about 8 dollar per day.
Had a great time. A bit expensive, but amenities were great.
The campsite is beautiful and the location is fantastic but you get charged to have a fire $8 ish a day and they don t have any of their firewood covered. Really disappointing, all the wood was soaked and it was almost impossible to make the fire you paid for.
It's a nice place, but the trains are noisy / tumbling all night. It is within walking distance to the Samson Mall, with great mountain views.
Charged full price for campground even though showers were closed and the firewood was wet and couldn't start a fire
Hard-sided campground: Nice & clean campground. We were next to the train tracks and the sound didn't really bother us that much. The minus points were that there was no sink to wash the dishes and drinking water access was rather far away. Unfortunately no public transportation from the campground to the lakes.
Worst campground I've ever stayed in!!! Only stayed one night and left at the first opportunity even though we had booked longer. Neighbours seemed closer to us than our own kids. Dirty site, dirty amenities and all at premium prices. When I saw all the international visitors, I was ashamed that this represented Canada.
Top campsite with beautiful standing places excellent sanitary
We had a good experience staying a night here. They were open fairly late, so we could check in. Clean & organized. Reservations definitely needed in peak season.
Nice and well maintained, but busy and so noisy with the train going through multiple times throughout the night. It literally runs directly beside the campground and blows the whistle repeatedly as it passes throughout the night.
Good site in an excellent location. The amount of facilities (washrooms, showers etc) closed due to COVID made the stay more arduous
The best campground I've stayed at so far! The train was a little loud, but it didn't go through at night other than the first night at 11ish, so that was a relief.
Beautiful hikes and a huge sense of safety with the electric fence surrounding everywhere, even the hikes through the woods are protected on the one side. This really helped me to sleep well at night.
The site we had was divine, nobody on 3 sides and our truck in the driveway blocking the others. There wasn't any younger children either, with it being the soft sided tents campground so it was extremely peaceful.
The weather is unpredictable out here, so you have to be prepared for anything. A few people had canopies over their whole site which was inspiring as I was sweeping the dirt off our mats a lot and it tracked into the tent as we have 3 large dogs.
It went down to 3 degrees on our last night, July 13th but the forecast predicted -1, so investing in a "My Buddy" heater is a must. We fortunately have 2, one for each tent, that we run all night, every night. I saw one couple huddled up in the cab of their truck at 7 am, trying to warm up. that's not fun!
The Rangers are around 24/7 ensuring the safety of everyone and gathering up anything left out and putting them in bear safe lockers, leaving a warning for campers of the safety rules and where to pick up their belongings. A couple of ladies beside us had this happen to them but said the Park staff were lovely to them and just explained the risks to them and released their stuff right away. Be SMART and read the Bear Aware booklet they give you when you check in!
We will definitely be returning here every year!
Campground overall is nice. Stayed in the J loop. Didn't hear trains too often and it was fairly quiet. Good interpretive programs but a very busy area to do hikes and such. Accessing Lake Louise and Moraine lake itself was tricky due to it being so busy but no complaints about the campground.
It is a great place for camping and it is safe for children. There is an electric fence around the place. You must book before going. The bathrooms are closed due to corona, the toilets are open, and a place for washing dishes and drinking water is available.
All facilities were in very good conditions as always on these kind of campground. The train is indeed pretty loud especially because they use the horn when passing pretty extensively. In the car it wasn't an issue though. In the tent it's maybe different story. Nevertheless we were happy with our stay!
Dirty facilities, only cold water in washrooms. Location is great to visit lake Louise and Moraine lakes.
while it s decently close to everything you need (and well organized), the sights are pretty close together. the sink is freezing to wash your dishes in. the bathroom sink is hot sometimes (weird for brushing your teeth) but freezing after. food lockers are too heavy. probably wouldn t stay here again to be totally honest. only good thing was the orientation and 70% capacity during covid.
TR Family stayed in this camp for 3 nights, the bathroom facilities were not well maintained, the number of toilets was insufficient, the camp location was perfect, the camp location was good, and the attractions were very close and convenient.
Large campground on the river, large pitches, but always 2 next to each other. We did not find that so badly scolded train (but also had the pitch more towards the river - No. 147). You hear them briefly, but we did not hear them at night. Showers and Toilets were relatively new and good, with only 1 washhouse with showers. If you do not want to walk far, you should secure the parking space near the showers. Toilet buildings are well distributed. The location is good overall, would go again.
Bathrooms were heated and clean. Beautiful and quiet place to stay.
Free firewood is provided.
You have electricity, you can light a fire. You are near the highway. What does it mean that a train regularly passes by and that there are 2 minutes between the beginning and the end ... I would camp there again.
Nice place to sleep, close to Lake Louise. Be careful, because of the river is quite cold overnight.
A train every 5 minutes all nite long how can anyone stand it sounds like they are right on top of you
As every parc canada camping in banff and jasper, the bathroom and toilets are really durty. At least the landscape view when arriving into the camping is really nice
The sites were nice and in a great location. Showers available and everyone was quiet and respectful for the most part. We arrived to a very long line up just to check in, which is fine but after driving all day it would have been nice if there was a notice on the website when reserving to expect to wait outside the campground for an extra hour on top of your trip before you can get in and set up. They had also given our site to the wrong guests, so we had a surprise when we got to our site and saw it was occupied. The bridge was under construction which was also not noted on the government site and there was no notices posted regarding times they would completely shut the bridge down that leads out of the campground. So we also had to wait a very long time to check out. Had we had the knowledge of construction we would have left earlier, stayed later and enjoyed breakfast and not booked time sensitive and expensive adventures in Banff. So the site itself is good, but seems to have a lack of information/ organization regarding anything other than bear awareness and how to get to the lake.
Wow! We loved our stay. Running water, showers, clean toilets, beautiful location and SO CLOSE to everything Lake Louise! The only downside was we booked in a loop that didn't allow fires, which it was too late to change once we figured it out. But that's not their fault! Just take care when booking your stay, unlike me! LOL
Nice environment, beautiful sight, Bow River nearby. Very roomy, good privocy. Book in advance!
Rail traffic and highway to hear quite clearly. Otherwise, nice riverside and shuttle bus to the lake.
Arrived at night mid October when the ground was covered with snow. Great washrooms and showers- very clean. I would go here just for the showers. Friendly park staff. Highly recommended for a simple, covid- friendly camping experience
Paid full price for the campground even though the showers were closed. Site had absolutely no privacy and the firewood provided was soaking wet and impossible to start a fire with.
Very disappointed, I would recommend the management of the campground to educate their staff better, especially the young guy who was on duty at the entrance on Wednesday 12/7 between 7 and 8 pm (hopefully not all your staff are like this or god help us all). We are two cyclists cycle touring from Canada to Argentina and obviously we CAN'T possibly book months in advance. That's why walk in sites were invented. I'm very sorry to say that Banff National Park is not prepared at all for the load of tourists in view of Canada's 150th birthday. This guy turned us away immediately, not trying to find a solution and didn't forget to remind us how many grizzlies are around. There are two tents per site, what about asking other campers if they would mind to share??? We were saved by two German cyclists who found us in town and shared their site with us (which they got only by luck when somebody cancelled, otherwise they would have the same destiny as they met the same polite gentleman at the entrance). So thank you, but never ever Lake Louise Campground again!
No full service options and no fire pits. Wouldn't recommend this campground.
Nice campground in the area. Can be hard to get a site during high season but worth booking
Tip top campground. I could not fault it. Everything new and modernized. Fire permit is needed, but there's wood for that!
Needs self check in when busy. Waited a long time to check into a site I'd already booked and paid for online.
Campground is in great shape.
We stayed at the soft side, Campsites are pretty nice size and tho there is a heap of them there is still a bit of privacy.
Bathrooms were heated and shower rooms were kept in great shape, there was all the hot water you would want and great water pressure.
Really good place to stay super quiet in the evenings.
They have wood on site and fire pits at every campsite.
Nice facilities for a campground, but too close to the city.
Great facilities, the bear lockers were very handy for walk in campers. Campsites large and adequately spaced. Only complaint is that showers got dirty at the end of the day
Site and hookups were good. Trains pass by close, often and sound their horn repeatedly throughout the nite. Would be rated higher but needed campground to work with trains not to sound horn. Stayed one night, no sleep, would not stay again.
beautiful views, plenty of trees, the sites are not crowded together. 1 main shower building and several smaller washrooms with exterior sinks for cleaning dishes.
entire tenting campground is surrounded by an electric fence to help keep the animals and people separate.
Great campground close to Lake Louise and Lake Moraine. Try to book a site as far from the RR tracks as possible. You can hear it from every site but the farther the better. Also, they are double sites so make sure you set up as close to your picnic table as possible to leave room for your neighbor. All sites are electric only. They have a separate station to fill your water tank and dump.
This is a WINTER review. Sites open for the winter are RV sites which are pretty large. Sites are usually for two vehicles but since the campground is so empty, everyone we saw had a site to themselves. The bathrooms near the campsites are closed in the winter. The only bathrooms open are near the entrance, which is a bit far from the campsites. The building includes bathrooms, showers, potable water, sink to wash dishes and dumpsters. Bathrooms and showers are clean. The train tracks are close to the campsite and the train is loud. We were so tired from skiing, it didn't bother us while sleeping. Snow is cleared from paths to picnic table and electric hook-ups. The stars look amazing at night.
Worst campground I ever stayed although it's close to the lake. Shower didn't work properly and long line up because of limited faucets in the evening. Trains passing with horns all night long... Will not visit again.
Great camp spot in lake Louise
Make reservations early
Very popular
- the power to recharge things is rarefull.
- very expensive for a camping.
- the bathrooms are dirty and unfonctionals.
- no animations.
- the soil is really hard so you can't fix your tent.
- the camping's team are really not helpful.
Massive campground where, unless you're lucky, you're a long way away from the handful of showers and other facilities. The washrooms in our loop where closed too. It's as close it can be to Lake Louise though and the kitchen shelters, bear lockers and bear proof electric fence are excellent.
Great campground close to town and all the riding and hiking trails. Great clean showed and bathrooms.
Good bathrooms and good spacing between campgrounds with lots of trees for privacy.
One of the bigger CGs we stayed on our roadtrip. Sites enough space for bigger RVs and all the stuff you need with two kids. Kids loved playing at the River.
Washrooms were clean and showers hot.
But: Trains pass very close. It is very loud and every train sounds its horn when passing.
Pro: close proximity to Lake Louise, yep that's the only pro. Cons: Tent camping sites are smushed together, no fire pits, bathrooms were not close or clean, showers on the other side of the campground. The worst thing about this camp ground is no rules aganist smoking at sites, so we enjoyed lots of second hand smoke from our neighbors. Complained to the park ranger about it and was told their is no law regulating smoking. If they can enforce rules about quiet hours and no drinking on long weekends why not make a rule about smoking. Ruined the whole trip.
Stayed there the first night before our big backpacking trip, it does have really good amenities the bathrooms are super nice and there's a nice central building with a chimney that was very warm during the cold night. Only complaint is listening to the train go by constantly through the night.
We were very happy with our pitches on the river and had already got used to the somewhat noisy sounds of the trains from other campsites. The washrooms and toilets looked clean. I will always book.
Just a fabulous location! Riverside to the Bow river and a beautiful short walk to the Samson mall.
Bit of a disappointment in my opinion. Soap was empty for two and a half days in two washrooms that were close to my site. Also two hand dryers didn't work and one of the sinks only ran scalding hot water. I know it's a camping experience but I'm just saying if you're going to have facilities and use that to attract customers at least have them maintained on a daily basis. I used the showers at the RV camp that is adjacent to the tent camping and noticed that their bathroom and showers are much better and fully maintained each day of my stay.
The fire pits were not cleaned out from previous campers. With the fire permit fee I figured they would be cleaned out daily as they were at other camp sites I had visited in the Rockies.
Lake Louise itself is a nice place to hike the trails and the view is great.
Great campground and didn't require reservations. Was quiet and cheap and free firewood
I've been to every national park in Canada and this is the first time I've been violated. This place is a concentration camp with a power-tripped police state. I have so many bad things to say about this camp site but with hold my breathe and sally forth
Campground okay. Washrooms and showers are a bit older.
Each campsite is very far apart, and only electricity is used, and the water must be discharged in a concentrated place. You can walk from the campsite to the side of the river. The scenery is very good.
