We loved that this place had an area with campfire restrictions. There are also areas that allow campfires if you like. The best of both worlds given what your needs are, and when you have asthma, that is a great option. The campground is in the trees and some areas are fenced off with electric fences to manage the bears and make if safe for bears and people. It is in a beautiful location and some trails around that are worth the walk.
I really liked this campground. It s really big but we still felt like we had our own space. The train is loud but it didn t affect us at all. The location is great! The showers were ok, they could have been cleaner but they get a lot of use.
Nice huge campground, but most RV sites are double-share pull through and trains pass nearby all night. They are quite liberal with the horn.
Its beautiful as it can get. Its by river walking trails by the bank. Definitely go again for much longer stay.
Clean, well managed, nice facilities. Obviously the brilliant location helps, so overall, a very nice campsite.
I understand that Lake Louise is a very popular place, I get that it is close to a fantastic landmark and this is the only camping in the area.
I have traveled the park before and learned that you have to reserve if you want to avoid the overflow lots. So this time around I did just that, even though I was traveling in mid September this time and not the hight of summer. I understand that the popularity will incur a cost so I was ok with the base cost of 33 dollars. This is high compared to other parks in the country. The booking then had an 11 dollar "reservation fee" a 4 dollar online booking fee, plus tax. So our site cost us 50 dollars for the night!! This was with power but the site didn't have a fire pit (Those sites have an extra charge of 8.50). I would have paid for the fire pit but the website showed only one space available. The last spot!! I had to get it so we wouldn't be out of luck upon arrival.
Once we got there we learned that the park is sandwiched between the railway and the highway. Bring earplugs. There is about 2 trains an hour plus highway noise.
We also learned that the showers were unavailable due to Covid so we didn't even get a hot shower with our 50 dollar campsite.
The walking trails are beautiful though, even when the mountains are shrouded in smoke.
The kicker for me was the amount of open spaces in the park! I think they reduced numbers due to covid 19 but our site was FAR from the "last spot" there were dozens of open spaces - some with fire pits too!
I would hate to see this park actually filled. The lots were doubled so it was essentially one driveway with two lot markers. Share with your neighbors and be sure you know how to park your rige because depending on who gets there first you can be left with a very tight space on "your side". Two trailers would need to be tight face to face in order to fill both sides of the area. Better have blinds! I wouldn't have been happy if our neighbors were that close. I guess that's a covid positive? Ugh.
The staff was friendly enough, though not very bright. Mind you we only had one experience at the front gate and didn't see a soul the rest of the time.
Overall I found it to be a money grab that forces your hand due to location. Not even on my list of the top 20 nicest campgrounds in Canada.
Clean showers, fence around the campground, wet firewood - they do not have a roof for it
Men aren't allowed to use the washrooms here, they only have womens washrooms open. Discrimination isn't cool
Party 2 minutes to do the dishes, just 10 meters from our campsite, we were confiscated our dishes (we were washing). The least is to wait 1 minute before confiscating everything !!
Good camp ground if you have an RV and it's close to lake Louise. The dump stations are good and all sites on the RV side have shore power.
The good: nice long pull through sites, lovely trees. Nice walking path around river. Overall , a beautiful feel.
The bad: traffic noise and extremely loud trains all day and night. Never felt like I was in nature due to the noise. I arrived at 12:15 pm and they would not let me check in, did not even ask what site number I had to see if already vacated. They made me drive 5k out of town on the national highway to an overflow rv lot and wait until 2pm.
Crowds...The town and lakes in August are nearly impossible to visit. I went to Lake Louise at 7:19am this Monday morning and parking was nearly full. Moraine was already full by 7am. Throngs of people everywhere. Worse crowds than Disney World rides. No fun at all.
I suspect if you came during off season, this could be a wonderful place.
Camp sites are very small... But overall is pretty good.
Great place to stay near Lake Louise! They have an electrified fence to protect campers from bears. Free showers too!
The campsite is well located. He is tall and clean. There are direct access to the beautiful trails. On the other hand, each site is divided in 2, thus less intimacy. Very close to the railway, very noisy at night (trains whistle continuously).
Nice place to camp. Surrounded by beauty. It seemed pricy but it is a very complete package. Showers, theatre programs, beautiful pathway to the stores and visitors from all over the world. Also the tent area is surrounded by electric fence to keep the grizzly bears out as it is a high grizz area.
Lots of noise from train on 75m, dumpstation on 40m and construction on 50m. Seen from spot 16 (highway is 150m)
