The best campground I've stayed at so far! The train was a little loud, but it didn't go through at night other than the first night at 11ish, so that was a relief.
Beautiful hikes and a huge sense of safety with the electric fence surrounding everywhere, even the hikes through the woods are protected on the one side. This really helped me to sleep well at night.
The site we had was divine, nobody on 3 sides and our truck in the driveway blocking the others. There wasn't any younger children either, with it being the soft sided tents campground so it was extremely peaceful.
The weather is unpredictable out here, so you have to be prepared for anything. A few people had canopies over their whole site which was inspiring as I was sweeping the dirt off our mats a lot and it tracked into the tent as we have 3 large dogs.
It went down to 3 degrees on our last night, July 13th but the forecast predicted -1, so investing in a "My Buddy" heater is a must. We fortunately have 2, one for each tent, that we run all night, every night. I saw one couple huddled up in the cab of their truck at 7 am, trying to warm up. that's not fun!
The Rangers are around 24/7 ensuring the safety of everyone and gathering up anything left out and putting them in bear safe lockers, leaving a warning for campers of the safety rules and where to pick up their belongings. A couple of ladies beside us had this happen to them but said the Park staff were lovely to them and just explained the risks to them and released their stuff right away. Be SMART and read the Bear Aware booklet they give you when you check in!
We will definitely be returning here every year!
