The staff at the Laguna Cliffs Marriott were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are wonderfully styles and comfortable. I only stayed one night, but I'll definitely go back when my travels bring me back to the area!

Stunningly beautiful resort with great staff! We were only there for a short time to pick up & drop off a rental. But did have a some time to walk the main areas of the hotel. All the staff were very friendly, and the decor is very well done. We're going to look at staying here during a future trip to visit family in the area. Kind of make it a vacation within a vacation to treat ourselves. Definitely consider this Marriot Resort when looking for lodging in the Dana Point area.

It is very nice, rooms are awesome, pool and Jacuzzi hit the spot

Start off with drive up the drive way to the place and the view is amazing.
Valley service only.
Hotel doesn't seem like much but it is nice.
Rooms are spacious and clean, housekeeping was friendly.
The grounds are so well kept and scenery is amazing.
Close walk to the shopping and restaurants.
No complaints, I may be back. =)

Staff was nice, food and drink prices are very high. I parked my car in a handicap space but still was forced to pay a $37 VALET FEE. Not only is this outrageous and ridiculous but I believe it violates ADA laws. That is something and I am going to look into

The rooms are amazing! Stayed on the 4th floor with and the view of the bay was incredible.

Tip... if you have the breakfast voucher, you can either use it at the buffet, or at the in hotel Starbucks. One day I went ahead and ordered a coffee for the morning, one for later, and some protein power bars to bring with me for the day since our group was in a rush to leave the hotel, and I wouldn't have time for the buffet.. Great value!

Everything about this hotel was 5 star except for the shower. The shower head was awful. We really enjoyed the pool, hot tub, and restaraunt. The food was delicious and decently priced. We didn't get to try out any of the equipment available for use on resort but there is a great walking path.

I was there for a conference. The food is very good. Incredible views of the ocean. They nickel and dime you for everything from$20 per day for parking $40 for Resort fee Etc. I hate when hotels nickel-and-dime you just put the extra charges into the room rate.

My family and I stayed at this property last night. About 30 minutes after checking out I realized I left a bag of medicine in my room. I called promptly and wanted them to put it aside so I could pick it up. I was then transferred to Jeff in guest relations and he told me he instructed his staff to discard of my personal property in the compactor. He said he did not have a place to store it and thought it best to destroy my property, which I estimate to be worth $1000. To make it worse he told me if you wanted it you would not have left it in the room. He then proceed to hang up on me and told the rest of his staff to hang up on me if I called back. Don t call here again tough guy . I am a Marriott member and have never been treated like this at a Marriott property or any resort for that matter. The property itself is great but you better hope you don t leave any property behind, or have any other issues. The management believes they know more about your health than you do and will that you like garbage.

Dirty room, mold on shower curtain worn-out funiture. Enough said, you decide if you want to stay. Grounds are nice but can be frustrating. Also room next to air conditioner, running all night.jezzz how rude.

Beautiful area, surrounded by waterside, great park with trees, nice pool and splash zone. Tend to tack on several extra fees(resort, high parking, etc). Lovely views, especially from restaurant balcony... One of the nicer resorts although a big part of it's strength is surrounding area.

We stayed here for a week and overall I would prefer other places in the area. It is a hotel, not really what I would call a resort.

We got food poisoning from a hamburger the first day, which started things a bit rough.....and made us nervous to eat there again!

Rooms are relatively small, but beds are comfortable. The place is clean.

Views are very nice. The staff is pleasant.

Mandatory valet is a drawback and time constraint, especially when going in and out several times a day. It is tough to walk anywhere from this resort.

Had a massage at the spa, which started 15 minutes after the scheduled time and ended up costing 110$ more than advertised...for less than stellar services. And a tip of 20% is included in the bill.....Would not recommend the spa at all.

Overall nothing terrible about the place, but many things make it unlikely that we would return.

Really nice hotel in a good location with a very inviting staff eager to help. Balcony leading to the communal pool area was really awesome. Wish we had a bathtub in our room, but that's the only bad thing I have to say.

Staff was great but a few menu items were inconsistent with the items advertised on line. Also a few items were out of stock such as wine and steak. Overall the staff more than made up for any short comings and the stay was a wonderful experience.

Beautiful view and very easy access to the parks. Parking and resort fees are pricey though. We enjoyed the bike rentals and other amenities offered though. Rooms are decent and clean. Robes are provided and other standard spa fare.

Caution. This hotel will change the daily room rates on you, and does not have self park. They charge $37 a day for parking. My room rate was supposed to be $219 but that was for only one night. Then it went to $349 then to $249. When I asked why and to change it back they said they could not. Would not stay here again.

Do not stay at this hotel if you are at all "ethnic." There was so many things wrong with our stay that I don't know where to start. 1) Guaranteed check is at 4 pm. We attempted to check in at 4:15 but did not get to our room until 5. 2) The room we booked was at the highest level, we were told the wait was because there were so few. It was a small room, next to elevator with one window to high up for my kids or my wife to see through, to the full ocean view that was obstructed by a tree! 3) Paid $360.00, so it was not as if we were bargain shopping. 4) We tried to make the best of it and took kids to pool. We arrived at 5:45 and all pool services stopped at 6pm, save for towels. 5) Pool was cooled and did not look clean. 6) Eat dinner on site in outdoor patio. Food was late, undercooked, and uneatable. 7) Dinning patio furniture is old and weathered, which is fine but no effort is made to clean seagull poop, 8) How do you mess up a Mohito...use wilted blackened mint. 9) Bed comfortable, put pillows horrendous, asked for pillows. Took 40 minutes to get them, after three calls, and when we finally got pillows and kids finally asleep, they called the room to see if we got pillows and woke everyone up. 10) I was exhausted in AM 11) As an accommodation for our horrible experience, we were told they would waive the resort fee and the valet parking fee. All told about $55 about 10% of our checkout bill of $540.00 for a one night (18 hour stay.) 12) Only good thing is that they do have a nice breakfast buffet with enough variety for picky eaters and some staff, especially Niko from France, were extremely helpful, while others are lacking training and humanity! 13) After telling us that they were sorry, they still charged us for the resort fee as a separate line item on my credit card. A wonderful waste of a get away to go whale watching, save the whale watching.

I was here for a conference - but the staff and the hotel were excellent - extremely accommodating and took care of everything. The conference catering is really good - considering they were feeding 250+ people breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Dana point is an awesome beach town to explore with good restaurants.

Everything about our overnight stay at this hotel was excellent! Our receptionist, Tayla, was superb. The concierge was extremely helpful. We were even greeted by the hotel's cleaning staff with smiles and pleasantries. The room was bright and clean...we scored one on the second floor with a patio and partial ocean view. In front of the hotel is a park with benches and a couple of bocce ball courts. You can easily walk down to the waterfront at Dana Point and grab a bite/ drink and hang out. It takes less than 10 minutes down the paved path and stairs. It's a great place to stay if you're catching the ferry to Catalina Island the next morning.

We live in Oceanside, CA and last week Thursday we were evacuated from our home due to the Lilac Fires. Exhausted, not knowing what was going to happen and after no vancancies at 3 other hotels we ended up at the Laguna Cliffs Marriott. We received outstanding service! Richard at the front desk was kind and got us a room quickly and even offered a late check out so we had a little extra time to figure out what we were going to do and get some rest. The valet Blake was so very helpful and kind. They both showed great concern and caring for our circumstances. We can t wait to be able to go back under better circumstances and enjoy this beautiful resort!

Beautiful resort. Great location. Parking is essentially valet only (that team works hard!). Nice pool area for families with young kids. Recently updated the room I stayed in to a very modern vibe (I enjoyed the rooms before that had the cassic beach vibe but they did need some freshening up).

There was construction in the wing a hallway down so didn't get to enjoy sleeping in or working in the room thanks to some drill noise. The rooms were nicely sized and quiet and clean with great beds and TV, no tub but big shower. Didn't get to eat or use the pool but it has great views of the harbor. They also have complimentary bikes which are included in the mandatory resort fee

We stayed here this passed weekend as it was gifted to us for our wedding night. I was shocked at how poorly we were treated by the staff. We were supposed to get a room overlooking the ocean with a patio that had lounge chairs. We didn t get that at all. We got a room over looking the kiddy pool with a tiny balcony with two little chairs that barely fit (not lounge chairs). When talking to the front desk they just said sorry we don t gaurantee those rooms. Not even for special requests like newly weds? It was a gift from my mother in law and she had said when she spoke to someone on the phone they told her we would get that room and they would charge her card. Well we didn t get the room and they charged my husbands card. So everything she was told was a lie. Ellie was very unprofessional when we spoke with her at the front desk. She smirked at us while we were trying to file a complaint about her staff Ron. She told us she would no longer discuss or address our issues there that we had to go to corporate. She Would not let us file a complaint. My husband and I look like we re in our 20 s and they sure treated us like kids. We re mid thirties and should have been takin seriously. Ron was sent to our room for a noise complaint - we had the tv on and slider door open. When he knocked on the door, we opened it and he instantly stuck his foot in the wedge of the door and door seal. Which we thought was weird he would step in our room in the first place. We asked how low we need the volume to watch there tv in the room that was provided to us. He got in an arguement with my husband and called him a douche bag and resisted is front shutting our door. Almost as if he was trying to bully us. Again because we look young. We had just got married and were just trying to enjoy each other s time. We spent well over $1000 at the pool which btw the service there was slow and they forgot half the stuff we ordered. The vallet parking assistant even gave us a hard time. Said we could pay card and when we went to leave it was cash only? Again, told something wrong. Bottom line we were extremely disappointed and it was supposed to be memorable for us. You only get married once and we can t get back the horrible time that was provided to us.

What a wonderful hotel, beautiful rooms and the views are stunning. They have bent over backwards for stellar service. The only complaint is they charge a 25 dollar a day resort fee which is acceptable but then it's a valet only hotel and parking is 37 dollars a day on top of the resort fee. Very steep.

For the price, the hotel gives the bare minimum of service. I would never return. I ve been in motels that are 100 times better. Resort and Spa this is not!

Toilets overflow. WiFi is extra charge and spotty. Safe didn t work. Only decaf coffee in room. No regular bottled water service. When I call to ask about water, I get a rude response from reception two bottles when you arrive is all you get! Separately, no new sheets or towels in three days! Barely any cleaning at all. This is supposed to be about sustainability but it becomes super clear that it s about sustaining Marriotts money by cutting expenses at the expense of the customer. To add insult to injury, you come back to your room and except for the bed being made with the same old sheets, you can barely tell it s been attended at all. Everything is exactly where you left it. Not tidied up like you expect from any hotel, let alone a resort and spa . As for the facilities, area around pool is storage for chairs, rendering the pool unusable. The food is mediocre, but priced at five star levels. Overall waste of money. Avoid.

To conference organizers, avoid this place, or you are as bad as they are.

Stayed overnight for a work event. Accommodations were great. View was amazing. Staff was friendly and courteous. Catered food left much to be desired, and the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars.

Beautiful hotel with modern updated rooms in the San Clemente tower. We had an awesome coastal view from our room. The service was very good everywhere we went in the hotel. A special recognition for Micharl at the front desk. He was so professional. Explained everything well. Was friendly and very welcoming. Great first impression upon arrival.

My room had a loud fan that would turn on and off and scare the bejeesus out of me! It would wake me up in the middle of the night several times. At least it was clean. Front staff are annoying. If I walk by, they practically startle me to make sure I acknowledge them and say hello.
