If you want to go recently, it is recommended to install art photography outside. Some museums are under renovation or restricted to open. I spent 25 dollars to go in and feel that I did n t see anything

In every way, I find LACMA is the best museum in Los Angeles, in terms of permanent collection, special exhibitions, campus size, food options, etc. Let me compare. (1) Broad: Despite fantastic collections and exhibitions, Broad in Downtown LA is always crowded and too small. As of June, 2018, it is still hard to reserve entrance tickets online (free). (2) MOCA is similar. The two museums focus on contemporary art. So if it's not of your interest, avoid. (3) Getty: not many interesting exhibitions are held at the Getty. People go there to hang out around the campus. LACMA exhibits classical, modern, and contemporary art collections. It promotes art education of the younger generation, so you can enroll your kids for free and have them visit the museum for free until they become 18 years old. One adult gets a free entrance, as well. It has a cafe in front of their main court (pricey though). If you'd like to save $ for parking, try to find a curbside spot on 6th street (4 hours = $4). With a 10 minute walk, you can save a lot.

Very nice museum, even though we just passed through to get to the cafe in the back. The lamp post exhibit was very cool! I'm sure you've seen it in a few movies before. Fun to take pictures. The cafe was pretty good as well with some gluten free and vegan options.

There is a bit of everything for everyone. I really enjoyed the Japanese art. Beautiful architecture throughout the grounds. And the location is amazing for tourists, the tar pits are nearby and there's loads of food trucks and shopping all around.

Closes really early for some reason (5 p.m.), so I couldn't catch the Korean writing exhibit before leaving town. But it was nice that you can access a decent number of public works without paying the hefty admission ($25) and just relax in an artistic atmosphere in the outdoor seating area or hit up the gift shop.

Worth a visit if you have a few days in LA. My favourite exhibits were the dozen or so Picasso pieces and the 3D section was fun. The highlight was a cinema with a brief history of 3D movies.

If you like contemporary art, there are many famous works I've seen on paper. There was also an underground parking lot. I'm looking forward to seeing a new building under construction on the side grounds.

The broad contemporary part was cool but I found their permanent collection boring
It would be nice if people weren't walking around with alcohol in their hand (there is a bar there and me no like it)
Design of museum interesting and the outsideness of the place is kinda cool

Great museum for art but there was a lot of construction going on in some of the buildings. Also, some of the galleries were hard to find even after asking the staff. Give yourself a lot of time and sunblock.

As a visitor to Los Angeles I'm glad I decided to stop here on my short stay. From the architecture to the art exhibits, this massive complex of buildings was quite impressive. It's a good place to take kids and there are many great photo opps. Me and my daughter enjoyed a Friday afternoon here and also took in some convenient food truck fare across the street on Wilshire.

Great stuff, though having so many exhibits closed made me feel like I wasn't getting my money's worth. Ah, well. I still saw works by Picasso, Rivera, Matisse, and many other noteable artists, including a wonderful exhibit of Chinese art ("The Allure of Matter"). $16 to park. $25 to enter for non-member non-resident a like me.

Most of the museum is down for construction but they're still charging full price to see a 12th of the museum. My bf has never been and really wanted to see it while we were there. Staff assured us it's worth the full price as there's a lot of new work that normally you'd have to pay to see. Fineeeeeee.

Nope I saw all the work from the last time I'd visited a few years prior. So not worth going to if you've been there before and they want you to pay full price.

Both the temporary and the permanent exhibitions are very worthwhile. Fascinated by the Korean and Chinese contemporary art exhibition. Let's hope the new building will have better facilities, in particular food.

The LACMA is a major museum space and it hosts a lot of events. Going to the ground is free, but you have to pay to go inside the buildings were some of the exhibits are in. The sheer size of the space is a lot, I recommend going for specific curated exhibits, because they have some great exhibits. This year alone (2018) I saw: City and Cosmos: The Arts of Teotihuacan, Painted in Mexico, 1700 1790: Pinxit Mexici, and 3D: Double Vision. All three were amazing and some of my favorites this year. They participate in free museum days, and you can park on the street to also save on parking. The LACMA is huge, I recommend a solid 3 hours for it, and comfortable shoes

Unfortunately there were only two buildings you were allowed to enter. And only half of the rooms were accessible.
The LACMA is apparently a single construction site at the moment and nevertheless the full price is required. I think it's a shame for a city like LA.

Great place to visit and experience a broad range of art across different mediums from different areas of the world. We were drawn in by the Robert Mapplethorpe photo exhibit which was fantastic in its presentation and content. We also enjoyed a number of other exhibits though more than I would have liked were closed for renovations and/or installations. We partook in one of the guided tours and though it was only 20 minutes and looked at only two paintings it was well worth the time and helped us gain insight into the art.

As others have said, certain exhibits require specially purchased tickets but as long as you do this online you won't risk not being able to get one and it really saves time when you get to the museum. Simply go to will call, give your name and pickup.

Parking was $12 for the day at a very nearby parking lot.
