In every way, I find LACMA is the best museum in Los Angeles, in terms of permanent collection, special exhibitions, campus size, food options, etc. Let me compare. (1) Broad: Despite fantastic collections and exhibitions, Broad in Downtown LA is always crowded and too small. As of June, 2018, it is still hard to reserve entrance tickets online (free). (2) MOCA is similar. The two museums focus on contemporary art. So if it's not of your interest, avoid. (3) Getty: not many interesting exhibitions are held at the Getty. People go there to hang out around the campus. LACMA exhibits classical, modern, and contemporary art collections. It promotes art education of the younger generation, so you can enroll your kids for free and have them visit the museum for free until they become 18 years old. One adult gets a free entrance, as well. It has a cafe in front of their main court (pricey though). If you'd like to save $ for parking, try to find a curbside spot on 6th street (4 hours = $4). With a 10 minute walk, you can save a lot.
