Beautiful facility, nice rooms, very attentive staff but food just mediocre. We had a fantastic time here!!

If I could give the restarunt 157 a zero I would. My friends and I were expecting an actual buffett for $15 WOW expensive for what seemed like microwave able sulsbury steak, a salad , mashed potatoes with no flavor, store bought oven fish sticks, and the desserts tasted like they were left out for a couple of days. Terrible! The waitress also forgot our drink order.
My wife and stayed at La Torretta over new years to attend their gala. We are frequent travelers and I have to say that we were immensely impressed with the level of service provided by the entire staff that we encountered. We were never made to feel unimportant nor did we encounter indifference or attitude from the staff. Much of the staff seems comprised of young men and women from the local area who exibit what we in Texas call 'good manners'. They were polite, affable, and eager to assist us. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are tastefull and elegant, but because of the staff we will definately return to La Torretta. This is definately not a value resort, and while I understand the perspective of those who complain about $8 cocktails, we understand that we're paying for every element that goes into creating a relaxing and enjoyable vacation experience. The breakfast buffet is great example, it was not inexpensive, but offers and immense and interesting variety of expensive foods which cannot reasonably be available on a budget. I would recommend this place to those looking for a relaxing vacation, beautiful decor, and are willing to pay for a wide range of amenities. I would not recommend it for the budget conscious, those looking for hustle and bustle, or those who are cynical of a youthful staff.
La Torretta is impressive, has beautiful views, excellent rooms, very good service - though a lot of it is automated or self-serve, and there are tons of things to do.
The rooms were great and the view we had was wonderful, overlooking the pools. As for adult entertainment: the bartender, Rick, was a blast and the piano player, blind might I add, was amazing.
Reasoning behind the 4 star review was actually the pool whose lazy river water was so warm it felt disturbing and the pile of dirty laundry outside our room we repeatedly had to ask to be picked upon our arrival.
Loving it , I am all about fishing and I brought my own gear and I had a relaxing day near the lake and the kids at the pool, at night we went to the sushi bar and ate so much , friendly staff and so much to do around the area, I recommend to visit Worlds burger just about 5 minutes away from the resort. The only thing is the little fruit flies. I think for the lake, but it's all good!
I have stayed at this "Resort" before however even at that time did not feel compelled to write a review.
More recently I tried to book an event for my sons wedding which has literally left me sick to my stomach and angry at the same time. The contract to host the event has been cancelled. Although we have lost a bit of money due to their staff's inability to fulfill other offered services for the wedding. We fill it was best to cut our losses and move the event elsewhere in order for the wedding party, family & friends not to have to endure the inadequacies of La Torretta. I will never refer or suggest this Resort to anyone.
What a Beautiful Experience!!! I wish I had more time to Go fishing and check out the Spa Treatment. Oh so many things to explore & to inhale!!
I was here for a wedding and was excited to stay here, for years I have heard about this resort. The grounds are nice and they ve tried to update the place. Our room was musty and dirty, carpet didn t look vacuumed, active spider webs in the corner of the room, the AC rattled and struggled to keep the room cool. There were spider webs all over the sliding door and dead flies on our porch so we didn t even go outside. The bathroom reeked of bleach. The room service took 45 minutes to bring some pastries and fruit, I had to call 3 times bc I needed to get ready to be in a wedding that morning. I was overall disappointed.
There are a ton of things to do there. The rental houses could use some exterior updates though.
Very cool ambiance because I love lakeside settings.
Membership is very expensive.
Not a bad place to stay, but we had several issues. At one point the TV and AC stopped working and the front desk person didn't seem to care. Beautiful grounds and otherwise helpful staff.
Very Fun! Had a blast awesome rooms worth the visit!
This place is horrible, upon arriving it took the girl at the front desk 30 mins to find my reservation. I even showed her the confirmation reservation email in my phone three times . Once finally in the room, my husband had to kill 3 spiders. We ordered room service and I have no problem with a delivery fee but an administrative fee is ridiculous. We spent $50 on two burgers and 2 can cokes. This door to the shower wouldn t close completely. I also booked my husband a surprise massage and facial a week before we arrived. The time was scheduled for 1pm and express facial for 2:30pm. The people at the spa told him he had to wait til 3:30pm for the express facial . I called them to remind them of the reservation time and she tried to act like I was crazy and agreed to a 3:30pm appt, which I would have never done. I explained to her why in the hell would I have him just sit for a hour and 30 minutes waiting. Then she finally admitted that one of the staff went over on another appt and offered to comp the facial and offered him to use the steam room. My husband said he didn t want to use the steam room because was rust in there and a foul odor . I m still waiting on the $60 refund . Oh and not to forget the elevators broke and us and several other guest had to cram in one elevator with a staff member and go out the back entrance once arriving on our floor . This place doesn t need to be called a resort at all . I m beyond disappointed and will never ever return or recommend this place to anyone . It was a waste of time and money.
The pool was great, and the food and drinks at the pool were awesome. The room was nice, and the staff was friendly. We will be back!!! I just wish that you could rent movies, and that the quality of the TV was a little better.
Brad Cook is the best bartender I've ever ordered from. Excellent service. Will be back.
Great smaller convention center; intimate feeling yet accommodates over 800 for a formal dinner.
My girlfriend and I had been talking about getting away for relaxation for quite some time now. So we decided to book on a short get away that wasn't to far from home. When we arrived we were greeted by Valet, which was the best service we received from the entire stay. They were very helpful and courteous. When we made it to our room, my girlfriend went to put items into the refrigerator, which did not work, so we requested another one. The maintenance tech that brought the new one was rude. The new refrigerator wasn't any better and to top it off it was dirty and had bugs inside. So we used the bathroom sink to kept our items cool. We reported this to management the next morning and the refrigerator was cleaned and finally worked. So we went on the enjoy the reminder of our day. Once back we thought we would take advantage of the resort. We went to the pool and spa area in hopes to enjoy, but unfortunately were not able to get in, due to kids with tubes in it making it really crowd, which was posted clearly ADULT AREA ONLY, also all the pool towels were dirty. I went to the front desk to request clean ones, but was told that someone would be putting out fresh clean ones, which did not happen until after we left. We ate dinner at the sushi bar and saw them replacing them. The beds were uncomfortable and the a/c was not cooling on 60. We decided that we had complained enough, so we just decided to enjoy the nice breeze and the remainder of our stay, but we were happy to go home. Our first and last time.
I saw just about every inch of the facility while visiting and was very impressed with everything there. The resort feels very secluded while only being a short distance from town. The waterside, lazy river, infinity pool, and hot tub made the pool area was the best I have seen at a hotel. I had a low bar for the pool side food, but it definitely exceeded my expectations. The stream room and massage chairs in the spa were very relaxing. Throughout our visit the staff wasextremely courteous and helpful.
Water park is fun but small and lacking in the upkeep.
Stayed there with my wife and had an OK time. BUT that was 3 years ago and almost every day since then they and every other resort in existence won't stop calling me trying to sell me something. No resort ever called me before I stayed there.
Let me preface by saying our negative results may just be because they don't care about people staying in the winter, as the pool area seems like it's probably the best part. Now, on to negative review:
We called to make reservations, and asked about the restaurants, specifically whether we needed to make reservations. They said "only to one of them, the rest you can just walk in". Well, when we arrived we were told that only one was open for business. Man, that reservation call would have been a GREAT time to let us know that...
Next they advertised a hot tub, and heated pool. Well, the heated pool is really a not-ice-cold pool, and the hot tub was ice cold, and out of operarion! Ok, so off to relax in our cottage. Nope, there was a rather large-seeming rodent who lived there already, in the ceiling AND walls, which kept us up quite a bit. They get the one star for the Spa, which did seem to have its act together. Don't waste your time, unless you want to do a day trip to the spa or hang out at the pool in the summer (and don't mind paying a lot for mediocrity).
Water amenities aren't as great as they seem. May be good for small children. Rooms are fine. Nothing special honestly.
Stayed in the gold course king bed cottage, and it was perfect. Cozy, kind of far from the main hotel but that wasn't an issue. I'll have to go and stay longer to actually experience the resort to its fullest.
The rooms were wonderful but the parking is an absolute nightmare and their solution is over priced valet. Also had issues trying to book a room and not very good at following up.
We have stayed here several times and always enjoy it. The water park is a lot of fun. The rooms are all suite style, which is nice when traveling with kids.
Attended a party at the conference center. Parking options could have been better marked and wound up being directed to the valet area rather than provided a free parking option (saw it later during the event). Staff was excellent and the food served was very good. All in all a good experience.
Hotel was there for a dance camp. Food was OK compared to last year. The got stuck with one bed and 3 girls sharing it and their toilet over flowed. He experience this year was not as good as last year.
It was calming and relaxing, the views are amazing. The service is great and the staff is really friendly. It's very clean. And you are able to reach them at anytime if you need something. Just a great get away, it's nice and peaceful.
The resort has lots of outdoor activities and the rooms were very nice (we stayed in the tower).
Great place to stay the weekend. Restaurant had good food, the rooms were great, and the view was beautiful. WWP.
Lots of amenities but poorly maintained and managed. Some guests in our party had cockroaches in their bed and had to change rooms. Other guest's rooms smelled of urine. Our room was not well maintained but clean.
I attended a wedding here and the hotel employees were helpful in guiding us to where the ceremony was taking place. The place is well kept and very beautiful.
Went a couple of weeks ago with the family and was very dissapointed in the discaring/racist attitude of a bunch of their staff. While out at the pool had to go look for the employee twice to retrieve my credit card, because they forgot they had my card . Definitely was not the best weekend getaway.
I visited here today for the first time. It was very elegant and clean. The staff were very nice and courtious. It has a full wet bar and a sushi bar. Pool, slides, beach lake front. Lazy river. Tiki bar. Come vist asap you will have a great time.
I was attending conference in October 2017. Not a pretty building, facility is under construction. The toilet leaked the first night, brought it mgmt.'s attention and thought it was fixed. It happened again the second night, to the point I had to put on shoes to use the bathroom. When I checked out and made the front desk aware, "Thank you and I'll let engineering know". Since I'm checking out, I could care less if engineering is notified. No apology, nothing. Great location, NOT coming back.
I stayed two nights and so far I have been hit three times on my credit card. be very careful. I keep being told they will call me back but still have failed to get this right. Make sure you keep your receipts.
Had terrible experience with booking rooms for a large wedding party. The first person we worked with was very slow responding to emails/calls, did not give complete information regarding the contract we had to sign, and did not give us a complete tour of the property when we went there. She wasn't there very long, and a new girl took over. I would receive a lot of auto-replies to my emails saying she was out for 2-3 days at a time. The people that answered the phone never knew what was going on and apparently there was no one else there to cover for her when she was out. We ended up not staying there because we had to change the wedding date because of the hurricane. Monica had told me she had rooms for our rescheduled date, but when guests started calling to make reservations, they were told there were no rooms and they didn't have any idea why, and had never even heard of our bridal party's name. This was a week after the hurricane. When Monica finally got back in the office, she finally called to tell me the property had suffered some damage to some rooms, so that was why they no longer could provide us any rooms.
Its Family place, very relaxing. Good food & good service .,
Nice great for kids and us so relaxing and beautiful
The layout of the room was great and the kids had fun at the pools - beyond that, there's not much nice to say about this place. It was dirty, run-down, not maintained, and had only a portion of the amenities a 4 star resort should have. Most Hampton Inns deserve a higher rating. In addition to the nearly inedible food at the restaurants, the filthy grounds, the most telling thing about La Torretta was the sliding door to the balcony from our 7th story room that was literally missing the latch and lock. We had to push a couch in front of it to keep the kids from opening it. That was the general theme of the hotel. I'm sure it was nice 5 years ago, but parts of the resort look like no one has been there in 5 years, and certainly not to maintain the place. Rent a condo on lake Conroe - you'll be much happier I'm sure.
I gave a 3 because our balcony was extremely dirty and bug infested.....i hate bugs and expected some due to being by the lake but in my opinion there was more than enough on the balcony as well as inside the hotel prior to the elevators to the rooms. The entire resort needed a good clean and paint job.
Spent 2 weeks at a training/Conference, and enjoyed my stay there. The resort was very quiet and seemingly empty in January (much more of a summer destination), but the staff was still very cordial and didn't skimp on any of the accommodations. I was not able to enjoy too much of the activities because of the cold weather (and long conference days), but still enjoyed everything I was able to do. I would recommend for anyone looking for a nice conference destination
We had a blast. Beautiful facility and pool/water park area. Staff was professional and attentive. Only suggestion would be to add patio chairs so guests can enjoy a cup of coffee on the patio without having to relocate a room chair outside.
day before wedding... had to wait 3 hours to get in to hotel room, we selected cabins months in advance but where never told how run down and in need of repairs they where. bride and groom had no hot water for one of days there, no extra blankets and one on bed was very thin. on night of wedding Bride and groom did not get complimentary champagne and chocolate covered strawberries that was included in wedding package.. where given a 25$ refund due to this... really? brides parents room had massive leaking when rained and then battery died in fire alarm and waited 45 minutes for it to be fixed (was at top of 10 foot wall) only good point was after 5 people finally in the 2 years of planning found Diane who; leading up to the day was helpful, but on day of she disappeared unless we called for her when had been told she would be with us every step of the way. if not for sister in law being a wedding photographer i doubt the day could have been saved. when it rained and no one had a back up plan or area for our outside wedding.
Nice pool & friendly staff! That's all I got. Horrible beds, awkward bathtub and don't do the $20 breakfast buffet. I've stayed at way cheaper hotels that I slept better and got free breakfast that was better than at this resort!
The on site food is great and the staff is responsive and courteous.
Overpriced rooms and a little out dated. Despite this the staff was very helpful and friendly.
Well, well, well... Where do I begin? I just checked in and had a good impression because of the fireworks that were going on in the parking lot and the lake view but all of that went down the drain as soon as I got my room key, which was for the wrong room, which was being occupied by a guest who I had the pleasure to meet when he returned to it after I had returned from the lobby after Christy, the front desk attendant, had issued me another room key.
Went back downstairs and it turns out my room was in the first floor. Unacceptable... After a three hour drive from Austin all I wanted was rest, not walk back and forth six floors. Not even a motel 6 gives this kind of service. In all honesty I would've given it a lower score in the star rating but it's a one because there are no negative numbers to give. I'm not one to do this kind of reviews but this is totally unacceptable. Thank you Christy for making my anniversary a memorable one.
Great room and service. Loved the pool amenities and golf.
Very clean rooms. Close to the Renaissance festival. Staff was very nice.
Spider 's all over the balcony & inside too, room stinks like feet or food or something.. when asked to change rooms they rather down grade! Pretty awful service all around....
There are too many offenses to list on here. Nothing major, but many little things that add up, which I wouldn't expect from a high end resort. Its okay, but not worth the money. La Quinta does better!
Living only an hour away, I thought this would be the perfect overnight getaway with my boyfriend........ I was very disappointed. Pictures are VERY deceiving of the outside! Yes, they do have many pool options, but the water was dirty the entire time we were there and are A LOT smaller than they look in pictures. The most disappointing part was that you cannot even see the lake when at the pools because of the fence - unless you are at the kiddie pool. The only "adult" pool is hidden away from the lake and your only view is a water slide and the hotel. It was really disappointing. Plan to valet your car once you get to the hotel ($25 per night) because in order to park yourself, they tell you "parking is across the lake"... how convenient. I stayed on the very top floor of the hotel tower and the room was nice. This place is good for PARENTS who want to take their KIDS to a place that they don't have to leave, but that is about it. Also, buying 1 tiny mixed drink was $17 at the pool. The staff is also very unprofessional and don't act like they work at a resort. I spent way too much money in 1 night for such bad quality. Did I mention they kick you out of the outside pool area at 10pm? Adults = getting kicked out of being outside by the lake. WHAT A JOKE - I will not make that hour drive again.
Helpful staff , clean rooms and overall nice resort
Very much a surprise to find this type of hotel / resort in this location, but it definitely works. Good views of nature and the surrounding area. Staff was very friendly and the rooms we clean. Good options for meals, whether at the restaurant(s) or in room dining. Most people seemed to enjoy the pool activities but you can fish or just chill if you want to as well. Only issue is with the parking if you don't valet and number of people there during my stay.
This was my first visit at the resort. It was one of the most beautiful resort I've been too
We had a lot of fun. Very friendly and helpful staff. Busy week for 4th of July when we were there. The pool area is awesome.
Nice resort and spa nestled on Lake Conroe. I'm glad to hear that the place will be renovated to a Jimmy Buffett theme, which will fit the establishment very well. I loved the genre of music continually being played. The restaurants on site were excellent and the staff are second to none. The problem that I had was with the online room booking tool. It sucks. Charged me twice and didn't give me a confirmation until the next day. Besides that, a very fun, family oriented place.
Great suite with tub and large shower. Great view of the lake. Nice bar with karaoke and great music. Great service.
Activities great! Spent a lot of time outside at the waterpark and on the lake fishing. The rooms; well that's another story!!
It is actually no longer called or owned by LaToretra. It us under construction and will be called Margaritaville Resort and Restaurant.
As LA Toretra it was very run down and almost shameful. Great in its hayday, the owners failed to keep it up, offer decent service or amenities but kept the prices going up.
I'm sure it will be a very busy resort on a beautiful Lake in an otherwise quiet community just north of Houston soon
Beautiful resort with plenty of activities for the whole family
Comfortable room. Was not a lengthy stay so we did not explore the resort.
Visited for a quick vacation before school started. Even with the periodic downpours, we still had a blast in the AquaPark and enjoyed other indoor activities. The rooms were very nice and staff was all friendly and helpful.
Nice resort. Nice golf course. Phenomenal staff. Cottages are nice but, the walls are paper thin... worth mentioning.
Everything was very nice! Exceptionally friendly young wait staff. Great variety of drinks. The elevators took forever during Sunday checkout. The hotel only had 2 elevators in operation which seemed like a full occupancy weekend.
Great family location. A bit outdated but we had lots of fun.
Nice place but definitely a bit dated. And self parking sucks when you only have one knee.
You can tell the owners of La Toretta had high aspirations for this resort at one time but then either ran out of cash or motivation. I suspect they aren't getting the volume of high class, deep pocket clientele that they were expecting.
Pros: family friendly pool area
newly renovated bathroom
friendly staff
nice looking golf course
views of the lake from the room
Cons: dirty carpets in hallways
no outside food in pool area
$15 poolside margarita
lawn crew in pool area using
leaf blower for 2 hours
Joe Dirt the slow poolside waiter
dark spooky hallways
need for more shade/umbrellas
around pool
garbage around pools
$20 breakfast buffet
All the cons can be easily fixed under better management .
I attended a wedding here. This was my first time here in about 12 years. The service and the food, during the reception, were fantastic. The food was provided by the venue, and everything tasted delicious. Seabass Rangoons were a pleasant surprise.
I just got home from a 3 day company conference and it's was awesome.
