Scenic beauty-Mesmerising. Staff-Very Helpful and professional. Services-Great. Rooms-Look traditional but equipped with all facilities, you might feel nostalgic if you've lived in traditional homes once.

Beautiful property. If you like wading in the pool, you should get a "pool' room. Service was also very good. We stayed for two nights and we wished stayed for at least another night. The meals were good to great but not amazing.

I've been here last week for a team outbound. Awesome resort with authentic Kerala style villas . Maintained very well. infinity pool, private pool , sunset boat ride every evening, pottery making, mat weaving , gymnasium, cultural events every evening, awesome food, traditional old chai shop set up for chai fans.. loved the stay. Staffs were so kind with awesome smile always.
Luxury meets tradition.. experience the ancient times with this resort.. peaceful and relaxing.
Forgot the noisy polluted city life for three days . Kerala is awesome and this resort adds more beauty to the state

We had a lovely experience at Vivanta Coorg. But Taj Kumarakom is ethereal. The staffs are very effective and one Mrs. Priya who was interning with Taj was very professional and had accomodated my daughters birthday with a cake at such short notice. Extremely impressed with service, facilities, food and people. 5 star is an understatement. Will visit again.

If you want Luxury - You will get it Here - One of the best resort in India - Huge property - amazingly maintained. Visited in late June - Best month to be here with little rains - Cottage rooms with private swimming pool - What more can you ask. Staff is superb - food - service - all top notch - 10 on 10 - Better than a Foreign destination -

This is a well presented resort in a beautiful setting. It s quite large but not overwhelming. There are two restaurants and the food is of a good but not great standard. Rooms are comfortable but finished in very dark wood which gives a rather gloomy feel, even when the sun is shining quite brightly outside. There was no practical seating outside (for our room anyway) so this meant there was no private area where we were able to sit and relax
The hotel has some houseboats that you can stay in overnight on a tour of the lake. This is interesting and a very comfortable way to see a bit of the lake and some of the backwaters. Meals are provided and the boat moors when you are eating and sleeping. You arrive back at the hotel in time for breakfast. The downside to this is that you have to check out of your room in the hotel while you re on the boat, store your luggage and then check back into another room when it becomes available after your return. Unless there are empty rooms, this is likely to mean waiting to move into your new room until early afternoon, quite a long wait with your bags after breakfast. Then of course you have to unpack again. This undoubtedly takes the shine off the houseboat experience.
Overall a nice break for a few days with friendly staff in a beautiful setting but one or two drawbacks, especially around the houseboat tours

My wife, daughter and I dined yesterday evening in KLR. Our experience was poor to say the least. We first went to Taj where the ambience was perfect, but for the fact that they had only wine and beer, and not vodka which I wanted.

In the seafood restaurant of KLR the ambience was poor. 1.The whole dining area was filled with vacant tables and chairs, with hardly any space to move around. 2. The area outside the dining space was badly lit so that we could not get any view of the water front. 3. Well, they had Vodka, but none of the hotel staff knew about, let alone having lime juice cordial. Reluctantly I had to settle for wine.

Incidentally, neither of your websites of KLR or that of 'thePaul' I was able to access.

1 day boathouse rentals start from 8500. During the summer months, they don't even switch on fan. Only while it's docked near the quay it's gets power connection. But the more expensive ones (> 20000) have good facilities. If you are expecting a day long cruise, u r in for big disappointment. The boat travels from Kumarakom and cruises in backwater for 2hrs, anchors at pathiramanal for 3 hrs, starts back to Kumarakom for 2 hrs and docks for the night, next day it cruises for another 30min after breakfast. There are country boats which cruise through smaller canals for 300/hr/person. Since boathouses are prohibited after 5:30, these are good options to explore and experience sunset. Suggestions:
1) Boathouse on Day1 and Good Resort stay on Day2.
2)Stay on Alappuzha side so after 5:30 you could check out the beach.
3) Stay on a 5star resort and go for lunch or dinner cruise. There's hardly any difference.

Excellent resort with friendly staff who took care of all our needs. Every evening we could have local coffee with typical keralite snacks. The evening boat ride room us to.the backwaters where we saw the most beautiful sunset with live music. The backwaters boat ride for the day was worth it. Must do that for the lovely home cooked food served the local chef.

Kumarakom lake resort is an excellent property by The Paul hotels. Situated in the heart of backwaters of Kerala, this property gives and makes you experience a very cosy hospitality giving you peace and feel good factor. Specially it's meandering pool villa are one of its kind in Kerala and with Kumarakom Lake Resort only having a common adjoining pool for adjoining rooms is the charm of this property. Food wise as well it is very good. I would highly recommend you to.request the chef for bakcwaters fish which is with bone but taste wise unmatchable. A must recommended!
