I honestly can't say I've had anything better than this in NY let alone anywhere else. I've had stuff in NY that wasn't as good but this was just delicious. I had heard about Kenny and Zukes on the food Network and Travel Channel and it certainly looked like a place I would like but the reality was so much better. the meats were delicious, the bread was perfect and the assembly was spot on. The restaurant was in a coll location and the service was friendly and fast. My wife loved her Reuben and I think the pastrami and corned beef on my sandwich were the best I've had anywhere. The turkey was delicious as well and I always love a little Matzo Ball soup when I can find it. I will visit this place any time I am in Portland going forward.

I love this place when it's on top of its game, but sometimes the food is better than others. Things that are almost always flawlessly executed include: pastrami on rye, the ken's special, the potato salad and the pickle plate. Things that are sometimes a little wonky include: the burger, pastrami cheese fries. If you order the right thing, you'll love it.

I was really craving a boiled bagel like the ones I grew up in New York. I was downtown and so I stopped by here and got an egg, cheese, and bagel sandwich. It's my fault for adding tomato and cream cheese, but it turned into a giant, greasy bagel mess. It was delicious, but I'm sure me trying to eat it put on a show for all the other patrons. I'd eat here again, but order less slippery and slimy bagel toppings.

Each time I ve gone here I end up waiting for about 20 minutes or so for one sandwich, and that s on a slow day. The servers can t keep track on their orders and there are much better places to eat in Portland

I had a pastrami sandwich a few weeks ago, I was not impressed. The pastrami was dry and hard--so was the bead. It was hard to enjoy, chew, and over all gum scratching.
Besides from the sandwich, the staff was lovely and didn't mind changing my order to something else, which I very much appreciated.

Might give it another try when I'm near by.

I just had their Barley Vegetarian soup followed by Reuben sandwich with potato salad and a brine pickled cucumber. Amazing flavour in all of those dishes. Was big enough to share between 2 of us as lunch.

All tasted like home made food. Cucumber - tasted as they used to in my childhood :)

I will certainly be back to try some other meals they have on the menu.

My rating is primarily due to the wait time. Both of the times I've been to this location have yielded similar results. Today we visited after the lunch rush, at about 1:30. Maybe half of the tables were occupied.

After being seated, we placed our order for drinks and food. After 5 minutes the drinks arrived.

After 25 minutes the drinks and water gone, but still no food. After 35 minutes the waiting staff informed us that our food would be ready soon.

After 45 minutes they delivered food, but it was not what we had originally ordered. After about 55 minutes and several conversations with the staff, we received what we had originally ordered.

This was similar to my first visit. Frankly, I dont know how you can mess up 2 salads with a side of eggs. That should take less than 15 minutes. Today was my last visit, as the food is certainly not worth the wait

Absolutely the best pastrami and corned beef I've had anywhere. The meat here practically melts in my mouth. Also, not only are the sandwiches delicious but all the side dishes from the fries to the soup are delectable. On a personal note, one Sunday I had plans to go to Kenny and Zuke's with my friends for brunch but I had quite a night on Saturday and woke up feeling like death. I barely managed to get myself there and with a splitting headache and rolling stomach I ordered the pastrami hash, hoping that I could at least keep a few bites down. The plate came and I took a bite, then another, then another. I slowly felt my strength returning and my headache going away, I polished off the entire plate and left the restaurant practically skipping. I can't imagine a better brunch than that.

Mmmm!! Bagels are freshly made. Taking some kugel and challah back to northern cal as they don't have selection of anything like this except for manhantten bagel chain , very nice atmosphere with great staff.

Ok yeah, it's a hipster paradise but look at the neighborhood. Attitude aside these be some solid eats. When you crave meat between bread this is your one stop shop. Crowded at lunchtime and often noisy but go off hours and just enjoy the food.

I like to consider myself a pastrami and corned beef connoisseur and this place is extremely good. Still the best is Langer's in LA and next Katz's, but this place is top notch. Their potato salad might be my favorite I have had anywhere. It is a more german style potato salad that has a good vinegar flavor. I try to go hear everytime I am in Portland.

Come here if you want a food coma. My table ordered the pastrami cheese fries to share and it was very delicious. I have a hard time making healthier choices here. I suppose I could order a salad but that just doesn't feel right in this restaurant. They also have some fun soda choices if you want something that's fizzy but not coke or pepsi.

Hearty serving of pastrami and eggs over-easy for breakfast.... I'm ready to fight a bear! Katz and Refuge are my gold standards for pastrami and this place did not disappoint. Hmmm, come back for lunch?....might be bit gluttonous. Gonna go walk 500 blocks of downtown and decide.

This place is the only legitimate Jewish deli around Portland. The pastrami is really fantastic. Ruggalach is good but certainly not traditional. Same with the matzo ball soup. Coming from New York, this is on the top of my list of places to eat on Portland if you're looking for some east coast deli food.

Anti-worker business that treats employees like garbage and exploits people for personal gain. I won t eat here ever again, food was bland and inedible, probably from treating the working so poorly.

I was craving a Reuben Sandwich and decided to finally give Kenny and Zuke's a try.
The Reuben was good and hit the spot, but it wasn't great. I think it could have used a bit more crispy cheese and a small side of Russian dressing to dip.
Still, i'm full and sated. That's good enough for me on a Monday!
The coffee was great though! Good brew!

I bought the triple decker pastrami and turkey sandwhich with a side of fries and a spare pickle.
I can tell you, the sandwhich is HUGE, and very tasty. Not too salty, and not too bland, just the right taste. Although the bread maybe a little chewy and tough, but overall, very good.

The price is a bit steep for a sandwhich in general, however, it is worth the price you pay. After all, one order of a triple decker sandwhich is good enough for a meal for two, literally.

One consequence however, was waiting for 30 minutes, as it does get EXTREMELY full between 12pm-2pm.

Other than that, had a pleasant meal.

Reuben Sammies are one of my faves, and K&Z do them up just right! These guys are the no-fuss deli that every neighborhood needs. I appreciate the consistency of their foods, as they are my go-to for soup, salad & sandwich. Con: look past the seemingly incompetent & snarling kitchen staff - they know how to cook...with a frown.

Not impressed. Waited for their Reuben sandwich for 20 minutes, to go. Not many folks in the place at 2pm. Pastrami was too thick, sandwich was just bland. Very expensive, $13.50. I have been tasting Rueben's around the Portland area for about a year now, and this Reuben rated at the very bottom. Even Arby's has them beat, in taste and price. A huge disappointment. Don't waste your or money time if you are looking for a good sandwich.
Also, while waiting for my sandwich, a server opened a large jar of pineapple soaking in some type of liquid and reached right in with his fingers, placed the fruit on a skewer and served it in a cocktail. He did the exact same thing with another jar of something, I was unable to distinguish what the second item was. Even if he had just washed his hands I can't believe this would be an accepted practice in the food industry. Truly disturbing to watch. Are they not making enough money off of their outrageously priced sandwiches to a buy few pairs of tongs for retrieving ingredients from liquid filled jars? Overall the restaurant was dirty.

The hostess was rude and ignored us rather than seating us. When we were finally seated no one ever came to take our order. We waited over 15 minutes. We finally started getting up to leave and someone came right over to take our order. He was a nice young man and very apologetic for the rude hostess and the long wait. We ordered deli sandwiches and gazpacho soup and Iced Teas. It took another 20 minutes to get our food. Horrendous service and very average to below mediocre food. The meat was very thickly sliced for the pastrami sandwich and the bread was very dry. Our server was a nice young man who tried to make it right, but I would never go back here again.

So went here randomly actually walking somewhere else for breakfast. Got the turkey pastrami egg Sammie on sesame with hash. Out of this fringin world. That is literally the best breakfast sammie I've had-and belief me I'm a purveyor of the breakfast Sammie love. My belly felt like a fly in a feedlot.

Go there!

We haven't been here in a while and decided to drive out to support local business. Sadly, they missed one of the items and did not even tell us about it until we had to call to ask about the missing item. They said they completely forgot to inform us that they were out and meant to refund us for the item. Why could they not have said something while we were there and let us order something else instead of miserably making us discover someone's lunch being left out while everyone else got their food? Not sure if you deserved our support today nor in the future. Not worth the drive for the expensive sandwich either!

Pretty meh all around. Had a pastrami reuben and a Kens special. Reuben was nothing special - there's definitely better around - and pretty skimpy on meat and kraut. The Ken's special had too much chopped liver and not enough pastrami, and the coleslaw was a joke. Pickle plate was boring and mushy. French fries were pretty good.

A nice , if somewhat expensive eatery in Northwest. It's worth the price of admission and the wait. Their classic reuben is one of the best I've ever tasted and they have excellent potato salad. The service was also very good, incredible considering how crowded the place was when we ate there.
