Kenny & Zuke's is a MUST in Portland. If you are looking for an amazing weekend brunch, then look no further. I HIGHLY recommend the Pastrami Benedict or Pastrami Hash....I hit this place up every time I make my way to Portland.

Great spot for Reuben sandwiches. Some of their other dishes have lagged a bit recently, but you won't find better pastrami in Portland. Avoid their sandwich shops though.
This is one of our favorites. You can't find pastrami or latkes like theirs anywhere else The food is good, the service is prompt, and there's rarely a wait. Personally, I'm not a fan of the coffee they serve, hence the four stars, but it's fine with a little cream.
Tried their pastrami and was not disappointed! Latkes were thicker than I'm used to, but the flavor was delicious and the rustic applesauce was perfect.
They have a lot of Jewish style foods like latkes. My smoked salmon bagel with capers, cream cheese, and pickled onions was really good but the salmon was far too wet for a smoked salmon. It seemed more like a cured salmon. They should probably call it a cured salmon with smoke flavor. The moister content was WAY too high. Also expensive.
Great vibe inside. Food was above average. The problem I had? Portion sizes were Americanized. What do I mean? Too large. Too much wasted. I looked around and noticed many folks with half empty plates. It's good food, but portion sizes can get out of control.
If you are in the mood for a Jewish deli, I can't think of any place else in Portland to go. The pastrami is excellent. The portion sizes are generous. The server we had was Australian and super nice and attentive.
Stick to subway, this food sucks, they don t treat their employees well, or their customers. The owner is extremely hostile and that s probably why the employees are unhappy and the whole business is failing!
Fantastic Reuben! Having this sandwich in many restaurants across the country I would put this one in my top 10. Perfecty prepared with an incredibly tender meat, the right mix of ingredients, and properly grilled bread.
- rude staff who make flippant responses and dismiss customers - loud atmosphere, I couldn't hear myself let alone my dining partner - salty food, like, dead sea salty - the floor was kinda sticky
I can't eat here because of the atmosphere and the food is so bad I wouldn't order from the deli.
If you want the best BLT in Portland, Kenny & Zukes is the place to go! Fresh ingredients and tons of bacon make this a great sandwich! Service is always prompt and friendly and it's a very comfortable place to eat, with both inside and outside seating.
I am a huge fan of this deli and I think it has THE best bagel and lox plate in Portland. First, you get the option of gravlax (cured salmon, pictured below) or nova lox (smoked salmon), the pickled onions are tart and delightfully sweet, and the bagels are made fresh here daily. On top of that, there s a lovely selection of small bite desserts- from cheesecake, cookies, lemon bars, brownies, macaroons...I recommend the raspberry rugelach! I m looking forward to coming back on the weekend to try their egg benedict brunch. Great service, great people watching views, and delicious menu.
Went to pick up an order an the lady took for ever. She sat there an chatted with a man knowing I had a order she sat there an continued to chat with this man. Not even moving to get the order ready. Not only was she taking forever she had no mask on an neither did the guy she was chatting with then I watched her run her hand an arm across her nose an continue to get an order together and not even wash your hands
Kenny & zuke's has an airport establishment. I went there while traveling and was served a charcoal, egg, and cheese cardboard ring. At first I was off put by the burnt flavor, but then grew to miss it as the minutes of chewing were filled by what I can only assume was a bagel made of recycled wood pulp. The mushrooms I ordered in the sandwich would have helped, except they were left out... All for the usual high airport prices. Unlike the food, our cashier was warm and fulfilling.
3 years in portland and the KandZ salt bagel with green onion cream cheese, 2 eggs scrambled amd a side of beef belly cut pastrami is the best breakfast i have ever had in the area. Other locations not as consistent as downtown.
Downtown, This is my favorite restaurant. The pastrami is incredible. Brunch is my part. If you like pickles, stop by the counter and take home a pound.
If you're used to NY pastrami, and have been to Katz Deli on Houston, NY, this is definitely not the place to go. Their pastrami was dry and ... flaky (dry to the point that falls into little pieces)... Oh yeah, It's very overpriced AND overrated. Sandwiches come with no fries, and it was heart throbbing to pay $15.75 for the classic Reuben.
Closing at 3 today. The lady was rude about it. Sorry im coming at a normal time that you should be open. Paid for parking. Came with people from out of town and baby in tow. Quite the effort to get there. Never going again.
OMG...where to begin....we had the hot meatloaf sanwich with salad and skinnt corned beef sandwich with fries...the fries are to die for! Hard choices on that menu...you'll want to stay for the next meal and order more! Fresh bagels, coconut macaroons and lemon bar went home with us....don't miss this place!!
Delightful, good service, nice location. I enjoyed the lox and bagels and sat in a window corner. Also, nice to be waited on rather then standing in line to order.
Very tasty breakfast! I had their 222 plate. Two eggs, two pieces of their delicious pastrami, and two latkes, along with rye bread. I'm not usually a rye fan, but it was a good eat all around. And the pastrami? Oh, so tasty!
One of the few true "delis" left in town. Kenny and Zuke's is great all around. It is a Portland staple, with a true understanding of what makes a great deli. Do yourself a favor and get the Pastrami, it is crafted in house and tastes amazing. Their bagels are also not half bad.
Worst service I have ever had. I filed a complaint with the BBB and the "owner" ignored the complaint and swore at me on Yelp! calling me a liar for exposing how he chooses to run a business. I was actually chased out of the restaurant by two different employees about ten minutes apart and yelled at for not tipping our server who refused to refill my beverage. Please don't waste your time eating here. I didn't think the food was really that great either so you wouldn't be missing anything more than a ridiculous circus act.
To start off, the location is choice for me. Right around the corner from Powells with reasonable parking.
I was promptly greeted and seated in a great spot next to the window. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. He gave great suggestions and knew how to be playful but professional.
My companion and I decided to get two appetizers and two meals to share so we could try a little of everything. The pickled veg appetizer is a must! I would go back just for that honestly. We also got the pastrami cheese fries. The fries themselves were golden, crispy and delicious. I wasn't crazy about the pastrami. It tasted dry in my opinion but I have limited knowledge on what pastrami should be like so I would take that with a grain of salt. The Classic Ruben with horseradish really hit the spot. Perfect corned beef and sauerkraut. My friend got the Kenny Special. Basically Beef Pastrami, chopped liver, Russian dressing and coleslaw (from what I remember). I had eaten so many pickled veggies, half a sandwich and some fries that I saved my half of the Kenny Special until I got home. I ate it later that night for dinner. I was really underwhelmed by it. I didn't like the flavors and since it wasn't toasted, it didn't keep very well.
All in all, I gave it a 4/5. I will definitely be back!
Consistency is the one area where Kenny and Zukes could use improvement. It's particularly painful after paying so much for a sandwich to have it be dry stale. On the other hand, it's worth every penny when everything is perfect. More perfect days than not though.
The new kid behind the counter was great. Gave one star due to lady training him was very rude to both him and I ( the customer). Very sad as it was my first time there.
Awesome! The turkey pastrami had a little bite to it. So wonderful. The roast turkey tasted fresh and not dried out. The hot dogs where perfect. Best part was the excellent service. We will return.
WORST sandwiches in Portland. I ordered a corned beef on light rye and what I got was two pieces of bread and a small amount of corned beef. THAT'S IT! No lettuce, no dressing, no mayo, mustard or ANYTHING? $17 for two slices of bread and 3 to 4 ounces of meat. Unbelievable.
It was recommended soon found it, had a beer and Rueben for lunch. Great corner for a breeze and people watching. Not fancy but smells like it should Brooklyn or a Manhattan Deli, AND the best Reuben I've had in years. Leave it at that.
Always a perfect visit. The food is just like home, the staff is kind, and the atmosphere is peaceful. My go-to after grabbing a new book- chopped liver, bowl of matzo ball soup, and some rugelach on the way out.
I place a catering order in for September 18th and picked up the food, paying with my credit card. They did not process the payment till December 1. When I called them to inquire the girl brushed me off with no apology.
The food was great, and I would recommend it for your own meal, but the catering side of the business and the customer service left a LOT to be desired.
Freaking amazing pastrami. The beef was perfectly tender. The prices are really good and you can easily share a plate with a friend. defintily take a visit.
This was a favorite, prices have gone up dramatically, food quality not what it was. We went for a Sunday morning, it wasn't very crowded, yet my son's overeasy eggs we're very overhard. Very disappointing! The $17 corned beef sandwich is a little spendy
If you haven't eaten here you haven't lived. A line out the door at 2:30 pm clued us in that we needed to stop for a bite. We weren't disappointed. I ordered a pastrami sandwich, soup, and an apricot pastry. Everything was an experience unto it's own. The busy restaurant sounds melt away and you are left in your grandmother's kitchen, savoring every bite in mutely rapturous delight.
Sandwiches are delicious but PRICEY! I paid nearly $12 for mine (no chips, side or drink) and some cost upwards of $16. Potbelly is excellent and their sandwiches cost under $6 in most cases.
Can't believe they charge 15$ for a classic reuben that is completly average and not worth mentioning. This place is way over priced for the 5$ worth of sanwich you get. Huge disappoinment. Skip this place
Kenny and Zukes have always been a favorite of Mine and My partner. However the last few visits the table service has been unmistakably rude....the whole point of a waiter is to provide SERVICE to the Customers. The shear disrespect is unbelievable.
My first visit to KnZ was memorable. I had the inkling for one of the best deli sandwich ever ...Pastrami and corned beef on rye, grilled, with Russian dressing and Cole slaw. My server eagerly agreed to my special order, and dang. This work of art was 4 inches high, and delish. I'm hooked now.
Ignore the rainbow flag they've displayed in an attempt to attract LGBT customers. They're fake allies who have no problem using transphobic slurs and silencing trans voices. If you are LGBT or an ally, don't give these losers your business.
Terrible service (unattended), took forever with our order (we didn t order anything fancy, didn t have that many ppl with us, and the restaurant wasn t busy), and also tipped themselves 18%. Ohhh yeah, had to pay $20 for a burger with fries and a drink!!!! (Burger wasn t good either) Don t recommend this place.
