Had a horrible experience over New Years. We checked into our three room suite and it smelled strongly of rancid oil and soy sauce. It was nauseating. We informed housekeeping over the phone. No one came for a few hours so I raised the problem in person at the front desk. Still, no one ever came. Unacceptable experience especially for the cost of the room. I will not be visiting again.

Loved it. We are a Disney family and had lower expectations. The resort was great and we had tons of fun! Loved the indoor water park. We believe it is Disney-light which is a huge compliment to the resort. Going every year now. Awesome.
Watch for deals online, prices are cheapest midweek. Recommended buying the indoor pass, keeps the kids busy and dry. Body surfing and sign a waiver, do stand up surfing in the evening is the best. Girls, wear or bring a t-shirt, water jets will displace tops, they have some to use if you don't have one. Adult size refillable drinks specials, and adult only bar with hot tub leading outdoors. Great time, plan out meals, if leaving, eat there or back at your room. Can charge food and drinks to your room card, be careful.
It was a calm environment and very relaxing to stay in. I enjoyed the indoor water park as much, if not more than the indoor theme park. It wasn't as costly as I could've imagined.
One of the beast family fun resorts in the Wisconsin Dells in my opinion!! They have endless fun and entertaining things to see and do!! Love this Resort.
I take summer camps here and the service is great! They are prompt with payment and getting is the information we need. All of the lifeguards are very active at engaging kids as well as keeping them safe. The facilities are always clean. Plus we love the free cookie hour when we leave!!
We came for the day on a combo waterpark/theme park pass and had a great time! The facility was clean and well staffed and the resort provided a variety of things to do for our boys and their friends, ages 9-12. The food is a little pricey for what you get, but there are plenty of close options outside the resort if that is of concern. Overall we had a great time and would definitely go again!
Treated poorly by front desk customer service as we were denied our prepaid hotel room due to a fact that we had a 17 year old with us. The front desk manager told us a rule was being enforced that their parental guardian had to accompany us, something that was not in our terms and conditions when paying for our trip a month in advance or on their website. We ended up not staying at the Khalari and only bought a pass at the water park for the day. In no circumstance will I recommend this resort to anyone as the front desk employs were rude and not willing to help us find a different place to stay in the area. TL;DR: A resort where you don't get a tonne of value for money, had experience with rude staff, and rules are enforced when they aren't written on their website. If you want a better Wisconsin Dells experience, please go to another hotel down the street and buy the tickets cheaper in the visitation shop nearby.
The wifi doesn't reach the end rooms of The Sands. Our room had a very bad sewer-like odor which was fixed by leaving an "air filter/purifier" plugged on our room our whole stay. It fixed the smell, but took up real estate. With the new conference center construction they moved that parking lot behind The Sands, which left us hunting for a parking space many rows away from our room while conference goers parked closer to the hotel. Those first few rows should new reserved for Sands room holders. Overall, most everyone had a smile, and the lines weren't too long at the waterpark. (The surfing thing was broken)
Id say as far as the indoor waterpark its great especially for my 2yr old son. Lots for him to do and he loves it....but as far as customer service at one of their sweet shops.. poor service . Im currently staying here right now tomorrows my last day and two employess were very outrageously rude told me and my family (paying Guests) that we cant ask questions about products that if were gonna ask for help we should know what we want and rolled her eyes and told me to hurry up because they close in 30 mins. How is that our problem? You serve all your guests with patience and respect. You take your time with each guest. Resort manager came to speak to us. Nothing was resolved no one tried to make it better or made us feel welcomed. I dont know if my family will ever come back here. For the amount of money weve paid for our stay right now for 2 rooms for 8 people...and you think we'd be treated better or compensated for the inconvenience or disrespect. I can guarantee the employees whom were rude wont receive disciplinary actions. Im glad tomorrow is check out
My experience at the resort was limited to the Water Park. But it was a great time. The staff was very cooperative with my use of an Action Cam and we had a great time!
The suite was well-equipped for serving food for the whole family, the furniture was adequate with the porch, and all the employees were courteous. We stayed here overnight for a family reunion and did some swimming at the parks. There were activities for pretty much everyone, although the lines during peak season meant that we spent a lot more time waiting than in the water if we wanted to do rides.
Was having a great time with my family until I was verbally assaulted by Charlie who seemed to be a manager. He pulled me aside from my family and yelled at me for turning sideways on my raft. I'm not the bright in the physics category but when the raft hit a corner it turned me so one my legs were hanging out of the raft. Charlie looked at me in disbelief as I told him this. 1. He was wearing sunglasses inside 2. He had 1980 sideburns, looking like Bert. He then followed my family and I around for the rest of day and told me I'm being watched. Terrible experience to go through. Word of advice, hold on to the rafts with all your strength or Charlie might get ya.
Tom Foolery's Theme park is Great, our passes were Included in our stay at the Black Hawk Motel (720 Race st. Wis.Dell's 53965) All the staff was friendly, Lines for the rides weren't long (Peak Season July 7/26/19) It was Great we went 9 kids in ages from 17-2 and EVERYONE had a great time They even stay open til Midnight Wristbands cover Everything except the Games. We will definitely be returning to the Kalahari
I love this place! It is so fun and there is always something for everyone. They have good water slides and they are fun. And they have an arcade for when your done at the pool. Great place for vacations with kids or without.
On July 16-18, my family and best friend went to the Kalahari for vacation. We definitely had an amazing time! There are so muny fun things to do at the Kalahari, like the indoor/outdoor waterparks, adventure park, great dining experiences, shopping, spa/hair salon, escape room, and much more. Great customer service and excellent friendly staff.
The only negative thing I have is the staff who work at the adventure park. It seems like they don't care about their jobs or customers, and sometimes they are often rude. On July 18th, me and my friend went on the go-karts one last time. It was fun, but when we parked our karts in the station, we saw a lady stuck on the track right in front of us, and one of the workers just completly ingnored her and did not help her at all. After waiting for almost a minute, the worker finally helped her.
But otherwise, I had a fun time, and I would highly recommend this resort for vacations and family fun.
The rooms are ok but lack closets and hangers in bedrooms, fridge is really small compared to most hotels. Much better than the other resorts in the area
Took my 9 year old and 2 year old for 2 night, was able to use the waterpark and theme park all 3 days!! The 2 year old was free for most activities. Buffet was delicious and everything was fresh. The whole place was clean and well-kept, service was delightful. We enjoyed our stay, I booked the room in the Sands building attached with a skywalk, wishing I would have spent the extra few bucks to not have to walk as far, but it was still amazing. Bring walking shoes, spending money, and an extra bag to take to the waterpark.
Great place to stay during the cold Wisconsin winter. The resort has a nice variety of restaurants and activities for children. The indoor waterpark is top notch.
My kids had so much fun doing everything. My only complaint about this and all waterparks is they could use one big 5 foot deep or deeper pool for grownups. Otherwise really good and fun amusement park too.
Huge resort with many amenities. I did not get the full Kalahari experience because I only went there for the waterpark. Since it was winter, the outdoor water parks were closed. I felt the indoor water park was a little lacking compared to other resorts such as Great Wolf Lodge (a resort right across Wisconsin Dells Parkway).
You definitely do not get what you pay for here. First, the staff seems like they hate their jobs and do not want to be here. They do not have proper training and are rude to costumers. For how expensive the food was here, it was very bland and nothing special. Had a bad experience at the Ivory Coast restaurant with both the food and waitress, spoke to the manager, nothing was done and he just made excuses for everything. Everything here is overpriced. For example, charging people $6 for a water bottle is just ridiculous. For how much money they make this place should be a lot cleaner both on the inside and out. On the bright side, the water slides, breakfast buffet, and Sweet Hut (very delicious chocolate covered strawberries & ice cream) were amazing! I got a massage and facial at the spa and it was the best spa day I ve ever had! Such a relaxing experience and the staff was beyond amazing! Definitely made up for the bad parts of our trip.
Pokemon central! Like 40 pokestops of u drive around the entire complex... great rooms little pricey .. if your hungry they have a joint called double cut... great atmosphere.. great food! Not for kids... your wallet will hurt after u get the bill tho...
This resort is amazing! I went to this resort with my basketball team and it was an unforgettable experience. There were so many things to do. There was an indoor and outdoor water park, an arcade room with rides, and an Escape room. I can't wait to go back next summer and experience everything all over again!
So much to do! Everyone was very helpful and the hotel was beautiful. The hotel is huge and has so much to do in the actual hotel. Be sure to go to the breakfast buffet.
I love it here. Pools are clean, water is a nice temp (after a minute of adjustment from the nice warm air!). Wave pool is good for people watching. Stop at Brew Pub for a cheese curds burger! Ferris wheel is lovely, and ropes course will test some boundaries! I go twice a year. Beginning of May for pretourist town wandering, beginning of winter to appreciate never having to leave the resort in the cold for a good time.
Best place to have fun for all ages. The indoor water park is so week maintained for the amount of people they get especially during the winters. We went as a large group and had nothing but fun. The arcade games are a classic, and there was definitely something for everyone. Good places to eat a stones throw away and affordable as well.
Its okay if you like the essence of chlorine and cheap candy wafting in the air. It is a hotel, in a touristy city, with African and safari themes. Typical conference hotel with typical conference food.
Worst customer service. I tried to call and book a room. I was given an offer to stay an extra two nights for free, so I booked the room. I received my confirmation email and was quite pleased. Then, about 15 minutes later, I received a second confirmation charging me for the two extra nights without any explanation. I called customer service and their useless response was verbatim: "We do not have free nights. Sorry sir." No explanation of why they revoked the offer, just a worthless statement. The worst part was that when I told the agent that it was unacceptable after she repeated to me, "we do not have free nights," for the dozenth time without explanation, I asked to speak to a supervisor and she disconnected the call. I tried to call back and received a different agent who apologized briefly and then said they'd get a supervisor. The call was dropped after I waited 5 minutes on hold. I was tired, irritated, and trying to handle this at work. So, I submit an online ticket for assistance through the website and they didn't respond at all. So, 3 days later, I sent in another and still no response. It has been about two weeks. Forget this place. I used to bring my business here and my company has hosted events here in the past. I will encourage every employee not to stay here during our companywide annual stay in the Dells.
Fun place to stay for the kids. Terribly expensive. I wouldn't eat at any of the restaurants associated with the resort. Overpriced and not worth the extra money. Plenty of other places to eat nearby.
We arrived for the four pm check in after waiting 45 mins to wait to check in and get room they told us they did not have anything ready. Still 6:00pm and we have no idea of when we can check in. They have offered nothing in compensation as a result of poor management at hotel.
Water park! My only complaint... I took my family of 4, both littles being 2 and under. They loved it! There was so much to do for the kids. Our only complaint is that they only have one family bathroom/changing room. That bathroom was also at the opposite side of the entrance. We went in a Saturday in early December and it didn't seem horrible crowded. Any lines were minimal.
Impressive waterpark activities for families. We stayed in a large suite with 4 beds and two bathrooms which was perfect for our two families with children. Can be a bit crowded at waterpark with longer wait lines for slides.
Please consider coming here because it is super family friendly and the staff are extremely helpful and supportive. It is a place that will keep memories alive.
We were very happy with our stay....the staff was wonderful....and we thoroughly enjoyed the waterpark and Tom Foolerys. The room was super clean and the beds were very comfortable.
It is a very nice family fun themed resort with plenty of slides to use at the water park and lots of other inside activities. On top of the it has multiply other things you can do around the resort like duck riding or wizard quest
The staff are very friendly and helpful. It took me about 45 min to check in but it s all good. Rooms are clean but sub-par for the exorbitant price. No coffee maker. Beds are terrible. No fitted sheets. Shower head leaked and was busted. Climate control is inadequate. Walls are paper thin. I m from the area and am very disappointed that the Kalahari has let their hotel go. I haven t been back in 10 years and I feel like nothing has been updated or changed except for more tourist-traps.
I initially bought a room for over $400 we got to swim once then had a family emergency and had to leave at 6pm. We were in such a rush I didn t get to stop at the front desk (huge line) I called the next morning and said I didn t even get to stay there and I would like to be reimbursed. They saw me on the camera and tracked the key usage and I in fact was gone. They said they wouldn t reimburse me but would give me a room gift certificate for a 99$ room and upgrade for free to a whirlpool suite. I called today to make that reservation and they tried charging me another $350!! I m so disappointed that they weren t accomadating to an emergency from the first stay and now taking advantage of my money again.
It is a great place to vacation. Big rooms, microwave, refrigerator, couch... and of course, the water park. The only reason I cannot give 5 stars is because it was not perfect. The minor issues are bad light in bathroom, shower hot water fluctuated temperature, and the thermostat did keep the room a consistent temperature as well. But really, these things just prevent me from giving 5 stars. This is a fantastic place.
As usual great accommodations and great service. Expensive, but better with a group rate. Tons to do, many add ons but they do cost more so allow extra money for the extras.
Well the slides were nice. But after a while it was to much for me. There was puke on the "Smoke that Thunders" but it was good overall. The rooms where nice. One of the maids walked into our room without knocking and my father was sleeping.
Rooms very clean, staff friendly. Sometimes waterslides are closed down without explanation signs. Everything is very expensive, from the arcade to the movies to the water park.
