Disappointing. For the price, I expected better. Food was tasty at the restaurants but overpriced and lunch service was painfully slow. Ended up eating so late we skipped our dinner reservation and just had snacks in the room. Surroundings are lovely but we heard machine noises each night - a trash compactor? Not conducive to a restful night.

A beautiful resort, in a wonderful location. The staff have all been so friendly and helpful, from the front desk, to the restaurants, to the cleaning staff, and the spa employees. Clean and modern amenities, fireplace, kitchenette, terrace, and a bathroom with both tub and shower. Be sure to reserve a water facing suite, as the views are amazing.
The food at the various restaurants is top notch. There is a beautiful and large spa, with full facilities. Indoor/outdoor swimming pool, outdoor hot tub, fitness centre with ample equipment.
Family friendly, but also nice for couples. Lots of activities year round. Couldn't ask for a nicer relaxing place to rejuvenate.
The service. accommodations and food was less than mediocre, equivalent to a Holiday Inn. No one at the resort was interested in my customer service experience.
Stayed with another family for March break 2017, total of 4 adults 4 kids. Horrible service. Restaurant staff failed to assist with reservation, restaurant manager Sahil suggested we eat at a different restaurant and then returned at 8pm to "enjoy the buffet" as they had no earlier times for buffet reservation. Made reservation for the following night at 7pm to avoid same problem, showed up and reservation was not on system. Same lady at restaurant counter from previous night, Alisha, told us she found a "great table" for us, despite showing no concern or apology for messing up our reservation in the first place. Showed us to a bar table at the bar next door - tall bar table with bar stools, people consuming alcohol and loud music. Yeah, great table for family dining! Another manager found us and was aghast with her suggestion we stay at the bar, and eventually helped us to a table at the Chophouse Restaurant. Overall lousy service, with the occasional pleasant surprises from some of the servers. Concierge stayed on the phone for 20 minutes helping someone book a meeting room despite me standing in front of him (did not even acknowledge me) and a line of families forming behind me (actually told a lady "I can only help one person at a time"). Requested early check-in, but didn't get our second room until after 4pm, the regular check-in time. Nice rooms, good size, nice layout. Good location, nice Muskoka setting. Many other choices around with way better customer service and value. Will not return. Staff obviously unprepared or did not care about the March Break crowd arriving.
I ve been to a lot of JW Marriott in the world, and this location in Muskoka is absolutely exceptional. The view of the lake Raso from the patio is world-class. The staff may need some training in terms of being punctual and friendly, but everything else is truly Epitomizes the Muskoka experience.
Awesome staff. House keeping were very kind and polite. Kitchen and restaurant staff were very accommodating specifically with vegan food options. Great all around. Spa was very nice. Massage and jaccuzi with view of the lake!! Everything was very clean and well kept. Nice drive up as well. The only negative would be that the rmt massage was not up to par and worth the high price. Other resorts have much better massage services. And vegan options should be on the menu as opposed to having to accomodate it.
Good clean place with friendly staff except the booking and managements stayed o e nite for 1200.00 which was atleast 4 times over changing, wanted to saty another nite but they wanted us to pay another 400 extra so wanted to change additional 1600 for another nite which was crazy, I would go to 6 stars hotel in New York or Dubai for cheaper price. Over scamming people during holidays and during covid-19 time.
The jw Marriott located in muskoka is a very relaxing and well maintained resort. The spa services are superb, rooms are tidy and clean and regularly checked. A very good experience.
My family was at the Marriott red leaves and my son left his wallet unattended and one of the Beach staff brought it up to the front desk where the manager put it in the safe and assured it would be safe there until we picked it up. however when we went to get the wallet it was missing from the safe. They said they would look into it and the process took over two weeks. We went back to the hotel and spoke to the manager and he said he was looking at the cameras. The manager told us not to worry That something was going on and he would make it right. We left and within a half hour the wallet was found back down at the beach in the water? Someone had stolen it from the safe and threw it in the lake. The manager said that only three front and managers know the combination to the safe. My son has depression and is Carrie upset over the loss of his Louis Vuitton wallet. We went to red leaves to explain to the top manager what had happened and he try to make excuses that perhaps there was two wallets that were blue in the safe however my sons was in a beige tiny mini backpack. We ended up going around in circles because they would not admit the staff is dishonest and that a THEFT had occurred by a manager that has the combination. We will not be returning to red leaves.
The king suite room was beautiful, very comfortable with a well appointed kitchenette. Living area was very nicely laid out. Loved the fourth floor corner balcony as it was completely covered. Our choice is to not have daily housekeeping and we really appreciated the daily drop off via a bag hanging on our door to replenish towels, toiletries etc. We felt the food pricing in the restaurants was excessive given the quality, we didn't bother with the Chop House as the prices were extremely high and we weren't sure it was worth it. Room service needs work speed wise. Great pool areas but the lake side lounge is only open until 6:00 p.m. which seems a waste.
I worked a professional event at the hotel. The venue was beautiful and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would gladly work with them in the future and would be happy to stay there as well.
Loved the rooms, the staff, the food and the amenities! Plus beautiful surroundings! We purchased a 2-night package that included dinner and breakfast, which I would highly recommend if available as resort restaurants are quite pricey.
Service is minimal. It started at the check in. The front desk clerk made us wait over half hour as he was stating that there is no reservation for us and we have to check with booking.com. Finally he came to us and told us that he was typing in the wrong last name in his system even though he had my ID with him. We booked a suite for 4 persons. When we arrived to the room it was missing the bed sheets and the pillows in addition to tissues. We had to call over 3 times for new bed sheets and toiletries. Light bulb in the washroom doesn t work I had to go buy a replacement. The cupboards that have the sanitized seal on them one of them was broken so most probably the items were not sanitized prior to our arrival.
Used to be a regular, but the service has just gone way downhill. The food is actually very bad as well. Looks like they are doing some specific hiring choices and more management training is required
The rooms we got had some trees blocking the view and the sofa bed was not very comfortable. However the activities that are available was quite fun. The kayak, canoe, paddle board, and some boat thing was all included. They also had multiple swimming pools for use during any time of the day. There was also a games area with chess, and backgammon. They also have billiards but one of the sticks was missing the tip. The food was decent but was very expensive.
We attended The Rosseau with our entire work team. The hotel was absolutely beautiful and the service staff was accommodating and so very pleasant! One of the team members in the Spa took the time to get me a lip balm when I explained that I had left mine upstairs and she insisted that I not pay. My breakfast experience at The Cottage (restaurant), was nothing short of incredible service - Swapnil Patel was so friendly and quick to serve me my coffee when he could see that I was tired from a late night. I will be coming back with my family in the near future! Thank you for a great trip! - JR
I came with my family and paid extra for a lake side view. Unfortunately the music at night is so loud from other units that we can t sit outside on out balcony. We ve complained numerous times but the loud music continues. #wasteofmoney
My husband and I were there for a wedding on Labour Day weekend 2017. Beautiful hotel , wonderful staff.
I believe the setting could have been far superior than it was. The bride had to walk through gravel and uneven grass. When guests turned around to take pictures of the wedding party and bride walking up the aisle, all you can see in the background are two large Transformers. It would cost the resort very little to beautify this area. It is an expensive place to stay and I was disappointed in The landscape of the wedding area.
This resort is amazing, amazing, amazing. .. the service is top notch. . The food at the restaurants are very good.... the grounds and amenities are fantastic. ... I would highly recommend this resort to anybody. . Friendly. Clean resort. ..
We spent 3 nights here for our honeymoon. The resort is beautiful. Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable and had everything could need. The staff were attentive and provided great service. Our dinner at the Chophouse was exceptional and they really made it a special evening for us. Overall the food was fantastic all over the resort. Loved the pool and the spa service we recieved. We will definitely be back for an anniversary visit in the years to come. Highly recommend.
However my visit was kind of ruined with a burn injury I sustained in one of their rooms. I sustained a partial thickness burn from their fireplaces in their room; my knee brushed against the glass for just a moment, but has caused a lot of pain. They should put a screen around it like they do in their communal spaces. There s a small sign on the glass as a warning but I don t think it s enough. My worry would be if you have small children do NOT use the fire place as they could very easily get quite injured
The room was well appointed but disappointingly dirty the hard surfaces when wiped by my wife the cloth was black with dirt the carpet had pieces from the time of arrival to 3 days later. Had several disappointing experiences at the restaurants and buffets offered by resort. My wife had illness symptomatic of food poisoning.Very poor service by the employees in the Cottages restaurant. The last night I waited 34 minutes before a waiter even acknowledged my presence. Unlike any other Service industry in the world JW Marriots management when made aware of the problems made no attempt to compensate? I am a member of the Starwood and now Marriott rewards system for a number of years and used a substantial number of points for my stay and will NEVER book another Marriot stay anywhere!
Nice landscape and wonderful staffs. I enjoyed. Room size is great and old as other people mentioned but pretty clean. Restaurant food is ok but our server was amazing. Explained all food and had chatting about the wine. We had great dinner. Yes...it is little more expensive than most of hotel but... it was understandable level. Thank you for all staffs at JW Marriott.
Beautiful up there! Hotel was under renos and it was off season when we went so everything was closed. Wish they had more activities to do. But the pool was fantastic!
This place is absolutely beautiful. But the veiw can't save it. Ive come here a few times with the intention of listening to the live music over diner and drinks on patio or in the bar aria. I must admit I am a local and don't get rooms here. But on several occasions I haven't even been given a menu without chasing down servers and often tehy don't come to take your order afterwards. As someone who has worked in the hospitality industry I'm extremely disappointed with the service. It shouldn't matter if you're renting a room or just patronizing a the restaurant YOU SHOULD ACTUALLY BE SERVED AT SOME POINT.
Don't even know where to begin with this resort. Amanda and Patrick at the front desk where an absolute pleasure to be greeted by and checked in with. The decor and ambiance takes you to another dimension as soon as you walk in. Rooms were exceptionally clean and spacious, hot tub was a perfect touch on a cold fall day. The Muskoka Chophouse was absolutely worth it. A little on the pricey side but you won't regret it. Overall a superb experience. Will return again and again
Top notch accomodations, service and amenities! The views are breathtaking! So much to do on the premises. Food served is delicious too. Not the cheapest place... But worth the price. We will be back!
This is an incredible place. The views are gorgeous ! The room are SO luxurious, comfortable and beautiful ! The food was absolutely amazing ! The staff was so kind and helpful ! I was there for a convention and really they couldn't have picked a better place !! I loved it !!
Amazing stay! 10/10 special thanks to Monique and the rest of the front desk team who went above and beyond in making my short stay with my family absolutely perfect.
ONE STAR! This one star is specially for Nick (STAFF) - one of the restaurant / banquet supervisors.
I worked at this beautiful property just the one day. I was appointed through and agency and worked as a banquet server. Nick the supervisor in charge would come over after I received a tip from a table and say hey, did you know we share tips here? Told him I wasn t aware, he quickly said, give me the money...I ll give it to you after we divide it and kept doing this 3-4 times. By this time I had already earned $30 -$40 in tips which was now in Nick s pocket. I found this sketchy and warned all my other colleagues. Day came to an end, I asked him about my tips, he denied taking any money and simply said whatever you make it s yours and laughed.
I felt this wasn t great behaviour. I refused to work at this location because of this awful cheap behaviour by management. I hope he gets fired, well...caught first. If management is reading, this took place in 2016 and feel free to text me as I have multiple witnesses who will say the same.
The hotel is in a beautiful spot in Muskoka. The amenities are great and in excellent condition. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room was clean and really well furnished.
I wasn't a guest. I was working here as musician. My comment is that the staff that I encountered were all friendly, efficient and provided a totally professional, high level of service. Thanks
Excellent place to stay for a family getaway or professional meeting place. Tons of activities in the area. Amazing rooms and amazing staff. Highly recommended
Very clean, professional and amazing service! A great relaxing getaway. We ate at the onsite restaurants which featured exceptional food & service. We would love to visit again in the summer!
The hotel experience was fine until we ordered breakfast at the Canadian restaurant. The waitress brought us some uncooked bacon and when we asked she said she'd ask the chef. I asked her again at the end and she said oh chef had said the bacon was supposed to be served uncooked like that!
I celebrated my birthday here, we stayed for 2 nights and the service was outstanding! From beginning to end, the hotel staff provided me with excellent service...
Beautiful location. The hotel could do with updates in common spaces, restaurants and rooms. We went to the Teca restaurant for dinner and it was okay. The frutti misti was a special and was great along with our other starter the crispy artichoke. The mains were okay. For breakfast we went to cottages. The service was great but the meal was nothing to speak about. Would recommend an alternative for breakfast.
I spent few nights at this place in Dec 2017. In general the experience is a average but it doesn t meet the expectations specially when booking the executive suite for 1000$ per night . However , the swimming pool experience was ok but it is disappointment in terms of what we have been told and the quality of the water and the facility The room itself was less that average. The mattresses seem to be old and not suitable for 5 star hotels standards . I know what Marriot standards is but it seems this standards vary from country to other . I gave three stars for size , activities for kids, and view . The breakfast buffet is really poor and need more attention and the same apply on the dinner ones which is worse .
Nice for a three star resort. It has a long way to go to live up to its 4-5 star claim. Weeds all over the upper deck lounge areas. Garbage strewn about and furniture in a state of disarray. Likewise in restaurant. Garbage from previous diners left on floor as new diners seated.
Hard to figure out where to sit poolside because towels randomly left on chairs never seemed to be picked up. When we asked if we could sit by an unoccupied pool outside of the spa ( the only quiet spot in the resort) we were told it was for the exclusive use of spa quests. Minimum 75$ spa spend required. Tried to book something but there was no availability so we were told for 85$ we could used the pool. Figure that one out. And of course this was on top of paying 700$ plus per night and a resort fee
Had breakfast the first day. I ordered a granola, yogurt and fruit parfait. Couldn t find the granola in it so I asked, and was told to dig to the bottom. Did so with the waitress looking over my shoulder and she finally agreed there was no granola. In the meantime my husbands French toast was delivered. Completely cold. We send both back and asked for two granola parfaits, which took an additional 30 minutes to be served.
I could go on, but I think you get the picture............
