We were allowed to review and drive vehicles with the help of your representative. He was very helpful in determining which vehicles to drive. We purchased a 2015 Jeep Cherokee TrailMaster. General Sales Manager assisted.

I live in Springfield and bought this wonderful Jeep through LouAnn. Fantastic experience. Negotiated the deal over the phone and they treated us as kings when we arrived. Jeep was exactly as described.
Zero stars. Purchased a car January 12th 2018, still waiting for the title as of March 1st. I've called and showed up in person so many times I've lost track. Each time I have to explain myself like it is the first time they are hearing about it. It's a nightmare. It's abusive at this point.
When I went to the dealership I wanted to see a few specific cars, I met with Carrie Price as she was referred to me by several people, we discussed the cars I was interested in and she was honest with me about them and we decided I would be better suited to continue to look around! So we looked on a few lots and there was nothing really screaming my name ~ Carrie sat me down at her computer and we looked some more I found a few cars I was willing to look at and then she went and made a phone call she came back and said I think I found you the perfect car, we drove over to the lot where it was and I fell in love! She was able to find me a car based on just the very few things I told her I was looking for in a car! She was extremely professional and honest, and lots of fun ~ she made my car buying experience a delight. I also want to mention Steve in the finance department ~ he took a lot of time getting me the best deal possible he got my payment much lower than I anticipated and got me a few extras on my car that I didn't expect. I absolutely love my new car and I would highly recommend Joe Machens, Carrie Price and Steve! Thanks for a great experience and a great car!!!
Do yourself a favor and buy a vehicle somewhere else. Paperwork was wrong costing me more money. They forgot to do the items we agreed to in writing so it took almost three weeks before I took delivery of the vehicle. Things that were verbally promised were never made good on. All of this could of been easier to deal with had they communicated. I drove up there twice only to find that the vehicle was not ready and no one, from the sales rep to his manager had bothered to call me and inform me that the vehicle was not ready, even though they knew I was expected that day. Save yourself a huge amount of frustration and buy somewhere else! (It took so long for them to send the docs to me, I had to pay a fine at the DMV. There is not one department that knows what they are doing.)
I worked with Rachel to purchase my new Mazda CX-5. I was happy with the low pressure sales tactics and with them understanding me wanting to look at other vehicle types prior to making my final decision. Ricky Bobby was also great to work with on financing. I d recommend to a friend and go back in the future.
Was glad I could get a car on such short notice but was expecting a different vehicle with a much cheaper price than the one I got but still pleased nonetheless. .. MC can work miracles with what he was given to work with 5 stars for effort
I purchased a 2016 Volkswagen Passat from Joe Machens Mitsubishi on 11/14/2016. I picked the vehicle up on 11/15/2016. When I picked it up, they were unable to find the extra set of keys. The salesman stated that he would look for it and if they couldn't find it he would order it from the Volkswagen dealer, which is also owned by Joe Machens. There WAS an extra key. I know this because the tag on the key they had said 1 of 2. The salesman also admitted that he knew there was another set. Now that I have the vehicle, the salesman has completely blown me off and has been "too busy" to either look for it or order a key from the Volkswagen dealer. Last week, a representative from the Joe Machens Automobile group contacted me to complete a phone survey. In addition to answering her questions, I informed her of the problem and she wrote it down for it to be reviewed by management. That appears to have gone nowhere. They have their cash and therefore have no incentive to do the right thing.
The key for this vehicle is not your everyday key you can go to Lowes to have made. I contacted the Volkswagen dealer and he stated that the key alone would be in excess of $135 and then another $100+ to program so that it works.
If they can't be trusted to take care of something small like this you should think twice before doing business with them because they will not be there for you if something major happens
The technician was very knowledgeable and kind! I was told the needed repairs could take over an hour, but the work was completed and I was back on the road in less than an hour. Thank you!
I worked with Jeff Fletcher. He was very friendly and professional. He was able to get me a good deal for my trade and get me into a new car on the spot.
I went Joe Machens Mazda to get an oil change service , Dave (customer service ) was extremely professional, friendly and helpful for check-in and check out service. Just want to say Thank you very much
Great service. Very friendly and kept me posted on what was going on. Sad that I can't get the part from anyone but Mitsubishi and due to cost for a 24 in. plug cord for rear wheel sensor. Very awesome service though on recalls and keys.
The Mazda 3 is a very nice car. We are pleased with the car and the price we paid. The fact that you, 'owner' responded so promptly was much appreciated, and has improved our overall feeling about the purchase.
I had an absolutely amazing experience with this company. I was able to trade in my car and leave there with an amazing car that is perfect for me. Scott Weaver went above and beyond!
If I could give no stars I would. I have a buyers order and sales paperwork stating machens will pay off my previous lease as part of the deal for purchasing my new $35k vahicle that I also bought every warranty they offered. They have never paid what they promised. When I call I get out on hold for hours or bounced all over the store until I get a voicemail that never gets returned. When I go in person the sales manager tells me he will look into it and then he never gets back to me. I wouldn t tell my worst enemy to spend a dime with them. It s sad because their service department is absolutely amazing. But I don t want to take my car for service because the money supports the sales department as well. Crooked selfish and without refused for customer service or following through on their word!
Wish I could give 0 stars. Our new car's passenger seat was filled with sunflower seeds after the sale and detail of our car. Machens is a shady high volume dealer. They don't/won't care about you individually. They just want your money. Go to Forrest Chevrolet, or anywhere else for God's sake.
My excitement for my new vehicle was short lived when I had to deal with a couple of situations with the dealership. First, the title was incorrect after several trips to the DMV and then the finance department did my deal wrong completely wrong and I ended up having to pay several thousands of dollars in taxes after being told it was being written in my finance deal for my state . The GM did not return my calls, the two salesman mysteriously disappeared two days after my deal was finalized and the finance department basically gave us the run around and did not return our calls. Very unprofessional!! Never purchase if you are out of state. NEVER, not worth the headache!!!
Folks, this is a great place to buy your next new or used car. The sales staff is amazing friendly and want to help you get your next vehicle. If you need help with financing, these guys will do everything within their power to get you in a quality car.
Robert Ridgeway is a fantastic saleman! After spending two weeks searching for a new car in this town I came here and was given a car with only 40,000 miles on it, no previous drivers, and I believed it was way out of my budget. But Robert made it happen! Since I'm away from home I thought I was going to be given a crappy deal. But Robert assured me he would take care of me, and he did! As far as the rest of the dealership, its a thumbs down, I was given a bumper to bumper warranty on my car, after they switched management it was like my warranty didn't exist because the new manager has required I pay a deductible when I get service done! Not only did I find out that my car should have been sold to me for no more than $15,000 and I got it for $21,000 but now I have to worry about how much I will have to pay each time something goes wrong with my car! Not Impressed Joe Machens, Not At All!
Michelle was amazing as always. She is probably the best person to work there. Only thing i disliked was that they stopped car wash and vacuum. They should start that again.
My wife and I were shopping for a new car and went to Joe Machens Mazda/Mitsubishi/Fiat since it was convenient that they had all three brands in one location. Jeff Fletcher was our salesman and put up with our multiple requests and happily showed us whichever car we wanted to see. After test driving several vehicles we decided on one we wanted and Jeff sold it to us at a price we were happy with. Throughout the whole process Jeff did a great job of explaining the differences between all of the cars we were looking at and wasn't the least bit pushy about buying a car. We felt very much at home and he treated us very well. This is the second new vehicle we have purchased from a Machens dealership and we've been equally happy both times. I would recommend this dealer and definitely recommend Jeff; he was very professional and is a genuinely great guy.
I brought my car in thinking that I was going to be spending several hundred dollars on service. I had been hearing a strange noise near the front axle. After inspecting my vehicle, I was delighted to hear that there was nothing major wrong with my car and it was just a simple fix. The shop knew I was prepared to spend a lot of money and instead of taking advantage of that, they were very honest and serviced my car for under $70. I have been to other shops and dealers who have taken advantage of me, but have never had a single issue with the Joe Machen's group. We have serviced three vehicles with them and recently bought a new Toyota from them. We will continue to be repeat customers. Thank you Joe Machens!
I worked with Tim Simon. He was pleasant and didn't have that pushy air about him that many car salesmen seem to have. I wasn't a big fan of the vehicle I originally went to test drive, but he found me something even better that I'm sure I will love for years to come.
I wish I didn't have to leave this poor review. Joe Machens Automotive Group went out of their way to sell us the car we had been looking for. It's too bad they GREATLY misrepresented the car and took advantage of my elderly parents (83 & 79). We are still paying repair bills on a car that they promised was in "good mechanical condition". This is the one item I stressed to them is it MUST be mechanically sound. The air conditioning works intermittently (40% of the time). The rear main seal on the engine leaks a lot of oil. The lower ball joints were worn out so much that they squeaked loudly and moved around loosely and had to be replaced ($294.53). The wiring has damage from squirrels chewing on it, and the front bumper has damage underneath (the mounting tabs are torn away from the bumper). It is missing much of the bolts underneath that hold on the splash shields. There are several smaller problems as well. We have only had the car one month. I purchased this car working with a salesman, Madison Yant, and Travis Dometrorch. They all made the sale happen, nothing but crickets after contacting them about the problems the car has. I can't believe they would take advantage of elderly people. We paid over NADA retail because Madison and the salesman assured us the car was in good mechanical condition. We bought this car based on Machen's employees' words. Make sure to have a buyer's check done by a reputable garage first if you decide to buy.
I needed my key fob reprogrammed. Joe Machens did this reprogramming and programmed a new fob quickly. The cost was less than I expected. The gentleman who coordinated the repairs...I think Dave...was very friendly and knowledgeable.
I had a great car buying experience with Jeff Sanford. He was helpful and walked me through many different models before helping me decide on the one that was right for me. I would highly recommend Jeff to any potential customer and will definitely be recommending Joe Machens Mazda to friends and family!!
They are very people Friendly we want thank MC for everything he did an Mike Anderson for putting us in the car we love an also the financial person also they great people an if you need a car look them up. Thanks again James an Raeleen
It's funny how they answer every bad review with the same comment, and then obviously never follow up on them, since the reviews stay the same... I had a fairly unpleasant experience buying a new car, but stuck with them because they had the car I wanted. I didn't write a review then, it would probably have been two stars. Now they've got me in an automated calling system, calling me every day to tell me to get my oil changed. And they refuse to remove me from that system. So their number is blocked and I'll go to K.C. or St. Louis to get maintenance for the vehicle rather than deal with them again. Trust all the negative reviews, go elsewhere to buy your vehicle.
I had to wait over 10 minutes to be acknowledged and that person came from another part of the building although there were 4 employees in the immediate area.
So this is my second review with this exact dealership. First one was about them swearing up and down they have the second set of keys(which they blew me off because I bought it in May....so less than a year) and now about 2 weeks ago the stabilitrack went out of wack and had to have it towed to a manufacture dealership and not only did they fix the problem turns out this car had a packet of problems that went along with it. Mechanic told he he was surprised it lasted this long without something going out. So long story short...I do NOT recommend buying from this dealership.
They replaced the wrong tires during our original service. They tried to tell us we had to replace a part that was not bent or broken for a new car we drove off their lot. They did not complete requested services prior to attempting to sell us additional services. When returning to have the correct tires replaced, the technician drove the front end of the car over the lift arms that he failed to retract.
I discovered Machens Mazda and Fiat 3 months ago for regular new car maintenance and have been very pleased with the Machens team. Fast, friendly and low price. Top shelf. Jason
The Dealership was nice! BUT as far as Customer service goes I would give them a zero star rating. Upfront everybody is nice and cordial. When it comes time to paying the bill they act like they're doing you a favor. Making customers feel like they are dumb is just not polite business. So the coupon said two oil changes w/ tire rotation $80 [$80] looked like a check. They got frustrated with me because they had to explain it to me again and the man shook his head and walked away. A woman came back and explained that she's never been told what I thought before. I get that in today's modern age of convenience people try to get out of paying a bill; but, don't make people feel dumb and don't disrespect them to their face. Again I understand there were a lot of people there and it's frustrating when you feel like your doing all you can and then you think some guy just doesn't want to pay. Just be polite about it and shake your head and disrespect them behind closed doors.
I had the most pleasant experience I have every had purchasing a vehicle with Dagan (salesman), Chasta (receptionist), Mike (manager), and Michael (financing).
Remember to negotiate. 15% off should be the minimum discount. Dont buy the I have more in it speech. You have to be willing to walk away to get a deal. Friendly staff and good selection.
Last Wednesday (May 4, 2016) I drove my prized 1990 Mazda RX7 90 miles to Machens Mazda for a bit of recall work on the shoulder belt. They repaired the shoulder belt; but then, not liking the sound of the idle, pulled my car back into the service garage and tried to fix that. They "fixed it" alright: the next day I received a call telling me that the engine would need to be replaced, for which they would charge $3,400--instead of the $4,900 if labor were included. The alternative was to sell the car to them for $300, minus a $100 charge for a diagnostic test--which the engine, they assured me, had passed with flying colors!
We have purchased two new cars from Machens in the past; they need not worry about a third.
There was some confusion in getting parts ordered which caused a delay in doing required maintenance; however Joe and Jessica did everything possible to correct the situation , including a discount on the work performed. This vehicle has always gone to Machens for service. I will continue to do so. Adrian, the courtesy driver was great as well
I recieved a safety recall notice in the mail, called Joe Machens Mazda. Since it was late Friday, I had to wait til Monday but they got my car in promptly and replaced the faulty part.
Don t go buy car from this dealership. They just want sell cars. After they sold the cars and when you cars problem and try go back get help, they don t want help you at all. Bad customer service
I purchased a car online through them (because that's supposedly what they specialize in.) They sold me a 2019 Corolla SE with 9,000 miles on it. They failed to disclose the amount of body damage it had. When I IMMEDIATELY sent pictures of the damage to them, they promised to make it right. When they received the bill, somehow my trade in (that they received 5 days ago) has damage that they have somehow forgot to mention this whole time. What an amazing coincidence. Now I've got a car with over $2000 in bodywork that needs done. This place is a joke.
Came in tonight and leaving with the car I wanted when I texted this afternoon. Dedrick made it quick and easy on the sale. He got me very close to what I came in wanting to stay at. He also showed me all the bells and whistles. 2 days later I get a text message I need to come back to talk to the manager. I finally get manager on the phone to find out what was going on. They tell me they miss quoted from my payoff and they need me to come get myself car or they'd bring it to me. They were sorry they messed up. They looked at my residual amount not my actual payoff on my trade-in. Never ever again. I have purchased plenty of new vehicles and never had these issues.
On 23July2020 I went in for a normal scheduled full circle service at "Joe machens Mazda" and it was brought to my attention by the mechanic(Cory) that my vehicle checked out fine except my tires and air filter so I agreed to 4 new tires, air filter replacement and a wheel alignment that he suggested. Within an hour of leaving the dealership I started noticing issues which lead to my car being towed and repaired(Mass airflow sensor, wheel alignment) by them at no cost to me thanks to Mazda's Corporate Office. Overall this has been my worst experience with a mazda dealership for services. I would never refer anyone to them for maintenance services. This was my first time going to this location and my last. Not only was maintenance not performed correctly the first time but the service dept day manager (Joe) was very unprofessional, didn't even try to empathize with the customers situation or take any responsibility on his company's part. Yes I do thank corporate for handling the situation the best they could.
The people are fantastic. They are friendly and explain my services and help me access discounts. I don t feel like they re just trying to upsell me. The facility however is a little old school and the waiting room feels like an afterthought.
I purchased a Mazda CX-5 from Lou Ann at Joe Machens Mazda in Columbia, MO. I had a 2017 and wanted to upgrade to a 2019 Mazda CX-5 with a specific exterior color that would be discontinued in 2020 by Mazda. The color I wanted was not on their lot but Lou Ann was able to find the color I wanted elsewhere. I traded in my 2017 for the 2019 and was very content with the outstanding customer service I received from all the employees I spoke with. Great job everyone!
No one likes dealing with car repairs, but Machens helps make the situation better with their outstanding customer care!!!! If I need a repair or service Machens Mazda is where I go!!!! They are the best!!!! Second to none!!!!!
I ve had my previous car serviced at Machens several times in the past and when it was time to finally replace it, I knew I wanted another Mazda. MC and George were great and I was able to do most of the negotiation via text, phone, and email, which was great in these weird times! I would definitely recommend Machens Mazda and I am loving the car!!!
Visited Joe Machens in August - I was pre-approved for a car loan, and knew they had several vehicles that met the requirements I was looking for. Spent 3 extremely unproductive hours in their dealership. While the salesman I worked with was very nice, the overall experience was awful. Most of the cars I was interested in were either sold or couldn't be located. We drove over to see one at a different Machens lot but I was told I couldn't get out of the car to look at the vehicle unless I wanted to test drive it. Then they had me test-drive one that had an awful Carfax report (it was involved in a lemon/buy back program) and didn't show me that until after I'd driven it. The third vehicle I looked at, I couldn't test drive because the keys were locked inside of a building that had apparently closed early. Every time I tried to leave, the EXTREMELY arrogant and pushy sales manager would come over and try to convince me to keep looking at their cars. Finally I told him I had information about enough cars, and that I had some other places to look before the day was over. He very rudely asked "where are you going to go? We have all the (listed off all the various car brands they owned)." That was the final straw for me, and I left. Yes, Machens may have the largest inventory around, but they seem to have trouble keeping track of which vehicles are still available, and even the ones that were available were not as nice as I expected. Our sales guy was nice, but the sales manager totally killed the potential of any possible sale for him (which my husband told him when he called later to see if we had made a decision). *** Edited 3 weeks later to add *** I have now been contacted by TWO Machens employees via Facebook message to talk about this review. I find it incredibly unprofessional that instead of using the contact information I provided them when I visited the dealership, I'm being hassled on social media sites.
Joe and Jennifer we great at keeping me up to date on my car. With it being broken so long and their cooperation the price was meaningless in comparison to the relief of having it done properly, trustworthy, and the connection of a man and his car reunited once again.
I have had the opportunity to do business with these stores on many occasions, and they are top notch! Great staff, and they are always going the extra mile to be sure you are happy. If you need a car...this is THE PLACE!
Great experience all across the board, Tim Sled aka Big T was great to work with over the phone and in person. Applied for preapproval on Thursday and was out the door in 4 hours with a great purchase on a 2017 Dodge Journey today. Me and my wife were clear with are needs in a vehicle and Big T and the team at Joe Machens got us in what we needed. Easily one of the smoothest buying experiences I've had. Will definitely come back again!
The service staff was very efficient, friendly and helpful. The service manager even lent us a car so that while they fixed our car we could go have lunch. By the time we finished the car was ready. The whole day could have gone an entirely different way but because of the service staff and manager it turned out to be a decent day.
If i had great credit I know this would of been much closer to a walk in the park. With that, My credit was ran 8-10 times, after the sales man said twice.....then I was offered a loan at 22% interest. They seem to really want you to have a new car, but its just all a game to make a sale. The sales man kept texting me, after it was apparent I was uninterested in the vehicle. I will most likely not return, nor suggest.
wont call you back until you make a bad review i cancelled my extended warranty and they wont refund money or call back this is the worst dealership ever i am calling their owners and maybe will get some answers or maybe someone will call back do not do busniess with them unless you want to have a contionus run around
The service guys are great. Machens in general has gone down. Way overpriced for even an oil change, over $50 for an oil and filter change. It's not like I got my car washed or vacuumed (they don't do that anymore). Used to be that I didn't mind paying a bit more because they took such great care of you as a customer. Not sure if I'll continue taking my car there for general maintenance. Everything is shrinking at Machens Mazda. Car lot is very empty, closed down the pregarage and waiting room. Seemed like only a handful of employees working. I feel they are getting ready to go under.
Excellent customer service and communications! Went well and above expectations. Dave Hern in the service department was great to work with. Because of Dave I will come here to look for my next car. Thank you Dave!
I had the good luck to be introduced to a salesman named M.C. I told him what type of used vehicle I was looking for and he called me 48 hours later with a vehicle that ticked every box I asked for including being large enough for my 100 lb service dog and in my budget. I was walking out of the office within an hour and a half with exactly what I asked for after being treated like an old friend. Absolutely I will recommend Joe Machens Mitsubishi to anyone needing a new car. Thank you for making my car buying experience stress free! Robin W.
Wonderful experience! I left feeling supported and guided in the right direction. I love my new car. MIKE was amazing. Sandy encouraged me to see my options. I was so happy. I feel safe in this new vehicle and I was impressed and wowed by the price. I now have new Mazda 3 2020.
sold me a car w/ breaks that were completely worn out. when i asked what was wrong w them, the guy (clay schmidli i m talking to u) told me they were just loud. great to hear safety is your #1 priority
Awful business practices and customer service! They will screw anyone over in any way if it benefits them! When I first moved to the area I bought a car from them and was blatantly lied to by a car salesmen, saying that I couldn't have sales tax added to a loan in the state of Missouri. The loan was expensive and the car broke down more than once and it took a fight to get them to fix it the first time it broke down even though it was covered by their warranty. Years later, after I paid it off and was trying to trade it in for a better car I had my credit and the credit of family members basically destroyed from them running it multiple times without my consent after I chose to buy a car from another company instead of choosing to go with them! However, the most recent and final time I have ever set foot on their parking lot was after I was discriminated against during a job interview. I was told I need to "flirt more" because I am female and there weren't enough in the industry so that is what would help me get the job. No, thank you! This business is BAD NEWS!!!! DO NOT TRUST THEM!
They were very helpful and they did everything in there power to get me into my vehicle that i wanted and they did not push me into a deal that i was not comfortable with. Thank you guys for helping me
Had scheduled appointment, was on time, and routine oil change and tire rotation still took 2 hours. I asked for an itemized list of what was done in case they had to do anything addition, but it only listed the two services. Friendly people but that is just way too long for simple routine tasks when you have an appointment time.
