Last Wednesday (May 4, 2016) I drove my prized 1990 Mazda RX7 90 miles to Machens Mazda for a bit of recall work on the shoulder belt. They repaired the shoulder belt; but then, not liking the sound of the idle, pulled my car back into the service garage and tried to fix that. They "fixed it" alright: the next day I received a call telling me that the engine would need to be replaced, for which they would charge $3,400--instead of the $4,900 if labor were included. The alternative was to sell the car to them for $300, minus a $100 charge for a diagnostic test--which the engine, they assured me, had passed with flying colors!

We have purchased two new cars from Machens in the past; they need not worry about a third.
