I got there I found the car that I wanted they broke the numbers down for me everything looked great could not get my insurance that evening so I waited until I could get insurance and then I had my insurance agent on the line with Machens and basically they made me look like an ass by saying oh well we haven't got all the numbers taken care of well then why did you tell me that everything was taken care of very dissatisfied then I got a brochure saying that I was approved for such and such an amount of a loan come to find out the salesman even admitted to me that that was a scam so I am thoroughly disgusted with your Machens I don't think I will ever do deal with them ever just for that fact alone that they run scams just to get people in there I understand people need to make a living and to sell cars you have to get people in but by lying to them and scamming them is not a good way and you know I've had other people tell me that Machens have horrible service I didn't believe them but now I do they do they have awful service I will not give Machens a second chance and one more thing and one of their excuses was you have to have insurance before we can get a preapproval never have I ever heard of such a thing I think that was just another BS Kim of there

If you want to sit there for six hours one day and two hours the next when trying to buy a car, by all means visit them. Besides having no concept of the value of your time, they also don't do what they say they're going to do on a regular basis.

I ve been having car problems sense the time I got the car a year ago and I have taken it many places but it always breaks down. This time they listened to what I said and we where able to find the problem and they fixed it! I owe them some brownies!

To be completely honest I used to hate going here because of several bad experiences, but they have done a great job at becoming an awesome sales crew to work with, they did a perfect job at finding the perfect cx5 for me

My salesman Jim Mandle is absolutely the best salesman and Michelle in service is beyond great. I told Jim what car I wanted and he had it brought here from California for me to test drive. Michelle in service always greets me by my name and my teenage daughter feels comfortable dealing with a woman when she gets her car serviced there as well. When either my daughter or I come in for service Jim always comes over to the service area to say Hello. I don't drive expensive cars so it makes me feel that no matter what price range I'm in Machens is helpful and friendly.

Kim was absolutely amazing at helping me in buying my first mini SUV , the Chevy Trax! She found me a vehicle that checked all of my boxes and you can truly tell that she cares about her customers. 100% would recommend!

I didn't buy my mazda here, but nonetheless have consistently received excellent customer service from the service department.

Dave and Sean explained whats going on with my car and showed me the parts they were working on. They have helped me understand my car, and know what services to budget for in the future. They even have a shuttle if you need a ride somewhere while your cars getting work.

So grateful for Dave, Adrian and the rest of the crew at Mazdas service department!

This was my first experience of buying a used car at a large dealership. Also my first as a single woman. Jeff was great, very helpful and understanding, what a great personality he has, I would definately recommend him as the person to go see if they were thinking of buying a car at Joe Machens.

Highly recommend Steve Rennells. He listened to exactly what I was looking for, the budget I needed to stay within, and worked with J.D. to help make it happen. Paul took me and my 5 year old for test drives. He was very patient, there was no pressure. I had driven from Kansas City in a bit of a time crunch to take a look, and we accomplished it all in a short amount of time. Got home and price compared to dealerships in the KC area. Steve and the Machens team definitely delivered the best value. 5 stars all the way and best customer service.

I took my car in to have the dash replaced under warranty since it had become sticky. I also elected to have my spark plugs changed while it was in the shop. It took them over a week to return my vehicle.
I called several times to inquire about the status of my vehicle and was told I would receive a return call. I never received a return phone call or an update on my vehicle.
While my vehicle was sitting out, over night, ON THEIR LOT, it was BROKEN INTO and my change was stolen along with other items from my glove box. I brought the break in to the dealers attention and was told there was nothing they could do, and even told me they were aware of other vehicles being broken into on their lot.
This dealer clearly does not care about their customers or their vehicles. This was an apauling experience and I will never return. If you want your CAR BROKEN INTO while being serviced USE THIS DEALERSHIP!

Carrie came out to the parking lot and introduced herself. She was friendly and invited me in to check on a truck I came to look at, that I had seen on the internet. After learning the truck had already been sold she showed me another truck similar to it, only newer with very few miles. It also came with a higher price tag. I was hesitant, but she hung in there, and was helpful throughout the buying process. We bought the newer truck, and ended up waiting on the financing for quite some time. Carrie stayed with us and even offered to buy our supper!

She definitely earned our respect as a reputable saleslady and Joe Machens is fortunate to have her on their team. Even after the sale, I am wanting to add some details and Carrie has been nothing but gracious about this, and is working hard to make sure my Dodge Ram ends up just like I want. Thank you Carrie Price! The experience was a good one.

I believe Al Morgan was the sales manager who came in and worked out the final details on the price. He definitely helped influence our decision when he started talking warranty! He drove a hard bargain, but got us the price we wanted for our trade in, and we truly appreciated that.

Service was quick. I would have given more stars for customer service, however I had 2 issues.
1. Please, please, please stop trying to sell me services that I do not want or need.
2. I was told over the phone that my oil change would be 50.00, including tax. Since everyone else was charging at least 10 dollars more, I made the appointment.
3. I did ask to have one windshield wiper replaced.
4. I walked out of there paying 107.00.
5. 57.00 for a windshield wiper????????

I purchased a new Mazda CX5 from Joe Machens Automative Group. My sales person was Robert Ridgeway and he did an amazing job! I do not live in the Columbia area but I was able to get a lot of the leg work out of the way before I even visited the dealership. Joe Machens Automotive Group was much more flexible than the Mazda dealers in my area and willing to work with me on my trade. Robert was very knowledgeable and worked hard to make me happy. I appreciate the time he took to go over all the details of my new car. I recommend both Robert and the dealership highly.

JM Mazda and Mitsubishi was offering free oil changes to health care workers. I was in desperate need of an oil change when I saw their Facebook ad. The service employees were friendly and helpful. Only took about an hour and a half from start to finish. Thank you so much!!!

Because Mitubitshi moving out of St Louis, I considered trading my Outlander-salesman and manager could not have been easier to work with and we made a quick painless deal! Derrick and Mike we re awesome!!

My husband is one who has a hard time getting over the 'used car salesmen' stereotype. The preconceived notion that all they want is our money was quickly dispelled when we met Carrie Price. She instantly made us feel comfortable by asking the right questions, accommodating our needs (above and beyond), and genuinely caring about finding the vehicle that suit us best. The most important thing I want to mention about Carrie is that she found the perfect balance of making herself available and giving us our space. When we found a car on a different JM lot, we didn't want to work with anyone else but Carrie. She took the stress out of the car buying process and we couldn't be happier with our new car!!!! Thank you!

My husband & I just bought a new Outlander this weekend. Part of the deal was a sunroof. So I called and made a apt. Mc was our sales guy and my husband really appreciated the way he walked him though the deal! George was our financing guy and also my contact to bring in the car, he was hospitable, kind and efficient. The gentleman in the service office, ( I was there literally 5 min tops, so I missed his name, so sorry sir) when I walked in and mentioned my husband's name was ON TOP OF THE GAME guys!!!!! He had the loaner car ready and gassed up. Unfortunately over the years I have learned to expect little to no customer service, and people attacking you on car lots. Mitsubishi of Columbia is NOT what I expected in a great way!!!! They are are great dealership! I also know, being middle aged myself, the sales person's reflect the management, it's the old saying....."if they're not happy, your not happy"! Because of the kindness, respect and customer service presented by all peoples involved in our experience, the management must be respectful of it's people too!! Thanks for making a stressful situation ( buying a new suv) NOT what we anticipated, AND GREAT!!! You have our referrals!!!!

Terrible customer service. Spent $35k on a new truck, the roof was leaking. The dealership said they would repair it. They caulked the light, which is not the right way to fix it. My husband had to throw a fit on the sales floor just to get the GM to speak to him. It also took 20 days to get a title because the finance manager forgot to sign the paperwork. Don't waste your time at this dealership, for they don't appreciate yours!

Honestly at the beginning it was hell, then I was introduced to Al Morgan, the Rockstar of the Mazada Dealership. I'm now the owner of a 2012 Mazda 3, she's a beauty! Thanks Al for being a stand up guy.

We recently had our 2015 Mazda CX-5 serviced at Joe Machens. The customer service of every single person we interacted with was top-notch. We live over an hour away, and they gave us a free courtesy car when they had to keep ours overnight. They were efficient, courteous, and unbelievably nice. We will definitely return with any future service needs!

They sold my information to a third-party company that continued to call me repeatedly trying to sell me products. Then when I asked them about it they denied it at first until I called Chrysler corporate. Will never do business at any Joe Machens again! Very unethical company.

I strongly recommend not buying a car from any Machens dealership. I bought a 2011 BMW 135i from here in early 2015. I just had the car appraised and apparently it was in an accident having the door and side panels replaced along with the frame repaired. Naturally this lowers the value of the car substantially. They provided me with a clean carfax etc. The car had been sold three times from a Machens dealership (I am the third owner), so I'm willing to bet money they knew of this damage and probably even performed the repairs themselves. This is definitely unethical bushiness practice. Let this be a lesson to all. Also if you're going to buy a used car, trust no one and have the car inspected yourself. A simple walk-around and test drive will not suffice.

You will find yourself test driving a vehicle that has been in an accident, whilst the salesman tells you that its better than the used one you are looking at that is half the price somewhere else. A bit to pushy for my liking. Very amusing to stop by in bad weather, go to the farthest extents of the lot and drive slowly, pausing by the expensive new cars until you see one or two salesman heading your way. Now slowly change positions, making sure that you are just a bit faster than the pace of the salesman. You can have a good half hour of amusement leading them around the parking lot before they give up. Grab something to eat and take a date. Great way to kill a half jr before going to the doctor.

Tim Simon was a great! He helped a lot with the cars I looked at and helped me find one in my budget that I loved. He was also great conversation. And the rest of the team helped out and provided a lot of information to help me make my decision.

I am so happy with Mike Anderson and Dagan this entire place. I called in a bit of a pickle, I bought a new car in 2014, and on my birthday I was involved in a hit and run, this truck blew thru a stop sign, hit my car, then drove over the car to get away, the party was never found, so my insurance totaled my car; then paid loan the loan, but I had so much physical issues that there was not enough to buy a replacement car... so I was stuck without a car. I called Machens Hyundai dealership, (I have bought here exclusively for 15 years) but I called to see if they had car that I could get to make it to January cheap as is warranty, he had nothing there but to call Mitsubishi dealer, then I called and spoke to mike there; I explained the situation I was in and he said he had to check on a trade just made. He called two hours later with the best car ever. I appreciate all of you, especially Mike and Dagan

When I had my oil changed and tires rotated I had 4 hubcaps when I got home I only had three. This is the second time I have had my new car serviced there. The first time I had a question about the oil used but got no answer from the service manger. When I was called about the service I asked the question again but again got no answer. So I saw no point in calling about my hubcap. Just didn't need the run around. I had driven 130 miles round trip each time for my service because there are no closer dealers for my car. I do not think I will do it anymore.

Lou Ann was wonderful to work with! I feel like she was finding the best deal for me and what I was wanting. Buying a car is stressful and she made the experience quick and easy! Thank you for all the tips! Enjoying my SUV in this snowstorm! Thanks again Lou Ann!

When we first pulled up you are bombarded by obnoxiously loud heavy metal music. Then we stepped inside to a less than pleasant smell I couldn't place. Had I been there to actually buy or lease a vehicle I would have already been done, but considering we were there because they had been calling my wife for weeks about a preinspection for our lease return we couldn't go to another dealership. We talked to the person who had been calling my wife and she told us she would call us the first of next week about it with no concern for our hour round trip. I went with 1 star because there isn't a lower option but that is in fact generous. I am currently looking at 50,000 dollar trucks and have accepted paying more to avoid giving money to the Machens group.

I love the Eclipse Cross that I bought, but as soon as the purchase was over with, it was hard to communicate with anybody. The car is a 2018 and new. When I drove it home the wheel vibrated so much it hurt my hands and the next day the pressure was very low and I had to stop to put air in the tires. Something I feel should have been checked by the service department or by the salesman, Brandon. When I picked it up later than I said, I still had to wait for him to put on the temp tags and to fill it up with gas. Something that should have been done beforehand. It was a little frustrating so I don t think I will recommend the place. I love the car but once the sale was made and the check written, I was put to the side. No longer needed to make a sale.

I would like to thank Jermaine Adams and Matt Nay for the quality service they gave me. It was clear they were willing to do whatever was needed to find the right vehicle for me. They found an awesome 2015 Mazda6 with all the features I wanted and they didn't pressure me to do anything I didn't want to. They were a couple genuine professionals and I'm glad to give them my business.

I came in to the showroom and was left standing there for 15+ minutes. No one could be bothered to say hello much less let me know when someone would be able to speak with me. I've owned a CX9 and would own a Mazda again...but not from this group. Do yourself a favor and find a different Mazda dealership that cares about their customers.

Kevin Schultz is the best Service Manager on the f...

Kevin Schultz is the best Service Manager on the face of the planet & I'll tell you why.

Bear with me.

I'm a self-employed ASE Certified Technician & was field troubleshooting a 2000 Mits Montero Sport in NW Arkansas that my client had purchased for his daughter, who was with-child.

Before giving her the car he replaced the weak battery that came with it & thus inadvertently triggered the anti-theft/immobilizer. That was 2 years ago & the vehicle has not started since. His grandson is 1.5 years old now.

The original Immobilizer Override Code card (see attached photo), provided to the original owner when this vehicle was purchased new, was lost to history long ago. The code can however be retrieved from any Mitsubishi dealership by presenting them with the serial number off of the Immobilizer ECU. This code is entered via the brake pedal & allows you 2 chances to start your vehicle.

By the time I'd called Joe Machens Mitsubishi & talked to Kevin, I had already called & spoken with several other dealership service managers & each one told me that they had never heard of an Immobilizer Override Code. Even their senior factory trained technicians affirmed that there was no such thing. Each one told me that the vehicle had to be towed in to the nearest dealer (at great expense to the owner) for repair & reprogramming.

Kevin Schultz, & one of his technicians, were no different. They too believed that there existed no such thing. But the difference between Kevin & the gauntlet of other service managers that I had gone through is simply this; an open minded positive attitude.

In spite of his belief that there was no Override Code & that the vehicle would have to be towed in to resolve the problem, he nevertheless considered my assurance that there is indeed an override code that can be retrieved from the Mitsubishi database system when provided with the Immo's serial number.

Unlike all the other service managers I spoke with, who took their technician's word as gospel & interrupted my attempts to convince otherwise with increasing self-righteous belligerence & anger; Kevin actually listen with kind patience & actually considered the possibility that even a factory trained expert can be mistaken. Within 3 minutes all the others were already dismissing me as an idiot & brow-beating the conversation to an early end. Kevin spent a whopping 12 minutes of his time actually trying to help me

I could hear him typing on his computer to see if there was an override code, all the while explaining to me in an apologetic manner that he was pretty sure that the vehicle would have to be towed in, when suddenly he went silent. I could then hear him telling the technician still next to him that in fact there was an override code after all. He then asked me for the immobilizer's serial number & 10 seconds later I was writing down the 4 digit code he provided.

Through his considerate help I was able to successfully repair my clients 19 year old SUV, saving his family hundreds of dollars for towing & the elite expense of dealership repair.

Kevin has a positive upbeat attitude that is probably contagious to those around him. He lacks the the arrogance common to those placed in a position of control, which is essential to true leadership. His willingness to donate the extra mile for a person remote from his clients base tells how fortunate his clients & staff are to have him. The upper management who hired him should be commended for their intelligence. Kevin's last words to me was, "Don't hesitate to call me back if you need anything further assistance."

The bureaucratic attitude of all the previous service managers had filled me with hopeless resignation & I dreaded the thought of making another attempt. I was on the verge of giving up but decided to give it one more try.

The next in the list was Joe Machens in Columbia, MO; & the manager there is named Kevin Schultz; & I hope this review gets him a raise.

ZERO integrity! Told me one price over the phone and with text messages...kept telling me to come test drive...promised it would be worth the 2 hour and 15 minute drive. We did the credit app and everything remote/over the phone so we could move quickly in person. Drive from St. Louis in traffic with my wife and 5 kids - all children 10 and under and I told them how much of an effort it would be before I left. Show up to Columbia, nothing is ready and on top of that, they jacked the price up $2,600. Unreal. Finance Manager threw his sales rep under the bus. Jeff Chick was totally genuine and thought we d make a compromise based on what his team told him but all they wanted was to get my family onsite to pressure a sale. Unfortunate.

We ended up having a fun road trip and laughed about the experience and had a great dinner, but I d be cautious dealing with these folks. Finance Manager is looking to swindle.

Bought a 2013 Toyota Tacoma the tires are weather checked and almost bald. The salesman will make everything sound so great . The oil was black they didn't even change it. When told sales person afterwards shrugged shoulders. Went back and showed video of black oil change I had to do to my almost 30,000 dollar truck and still didn't care.i advise everyone to shop elsewhere this was a guy I grew up with and yet screwed me over so I can only imagine what the other sales people would do to you there. If your thinking about buying a vehicle GO SOMEWHERE ELSE so you don't get screwed like I did .

DO NOT go here if you are planning on buying a car for $5,500 cash. They WILL NOT work with cash deals, and WILL NOT even show you vehicles your interested in or vehicles in your price range. They Want everybody to finance at STICKER PRICE, they call this no haggling I call it a RIP OFF.

Took my car in for a rear break pad change and oil change. They look the car over, checking filters, tire tread, etc. And call you back. I called to check on the progress cause I hadn t heard and I really needed the car back since I live out of town. They got busy which is understandable and hadn t had the chance to call back. The break pads were too far gone and caused damage to the rotors. They changed $50 per rotor. $20-$30 more than what I could have gotten at an auto parts shop. They checked the cabin filter which had leaves in it that were left on the floorboard. Didn t clean that up.
Also while there, I had all the recalls check out. My particular Mazda has a defective dash that apparently melts. Leaving it sticky and shiny. Since my car was bought salvaged, the warranty is void and couldn t get it replaced. However they had placed a piece of paper on the sticky part of the dash and left it there. I ended up taking it off cause obviously I don t want it there. And the paper tore leaving some on the dash. Wasn t overly thrilled with that.

Very friendly. I called about a car and they had it waiting for me to test drive when I arrived at the dealership. I ended up purchasing the car and I was able to negotiate and purchase the car that evening. It was also very quick. I think I only spent an hour at the dealership.

Unethical Business Practices

Unethical Business Practices

Do NOT use these guys. My wife cosigned for her brother, they switched the signatures and told her brother that it's ok to sign for my wife. Now she is stuck with the payments as primary borrower and has to foot the sales tax too. When we spoke with the dealer, they said it's not their problem and they can do that! Any correspondence that we had either by phone or email was very condescending and belittling towards my wife and her brother and no willingness to assist with "our" problem. This will probably get screened and never get posted but we have to warn others until our lawyers are done with their work

I went in and found the perfect car! They drove me over to the Honda dealership but I was unable to test drive the vehicle that day and scheduled another visit where I would be able to drive it and hopefully drive home with a new car. I live an hour away and have a busy schedule, so a few weeks later and countless calls and texts from the salesmen, I went back in. I drove to Columbia and was then told that they had sold car I came in for. Three and half hours later they miraculously found a vehicle that was the same year, make, model, miles, and color. After explaining that it was the same vehicle I was insulted and told it was indeed not the same. They explained that in 30 minutes after they cleaned it I would be able to test drive it and we could talk numbers. 35 minutes passed and they then told me that they couldn't get ahold of anyone and I could come back in another time. I thanked them for their time and walked out. After I left I went to Honda and found the exact car I came in for! It was the same because it has a small scuff on the right side. My experience at Machens was TERRIBLE! I would not recommend them to anyone. I was insulted several times through out the day by these people, as well as, lied to.
