Because of the variety in sights and the location. I especially liked the climate and the area north of the bridge in Marin County because of the wooded area and the view of Frisco and the many secluded and private sectors. There is also a gift shop and viewing area south of the bridge. This place is an absolute must C.

Got to do the touristy thing and walked across GG BRIDGE, bring a wind breaker jacket woll5 need it from Marin county back to SF.

Pedestrian need to share the walkway with bicyclists -who Rudely don't always stay to the left )-as that was bike lane! -and why don't groups of people walk single file when passing, each other - so you don't fall into the bike lane!

Other than a few rude, inconsiderate peeps ,the actual walk was pleasant & refreshing, no FOG for me ,watched windsurfers, red and white fleet tourist boats and 1 freighter go by the bridge ! About 45 minutes if quick pace and no stopping for but what fun would that be.

Great experience ! Walked half way down with my family, traffic and parking of course sucked. Visitation center was clean but pricey. Overall was as expected and had a good experience.

Someone should really do something about the weather up there...

Parking not friendly at all!

Nice souvenir shop, reasonable prices, recommend adding shot glasses to selection ;-)

Golden Gate Bridge is one of the iconic landmarks of San Francisco that is a must see and a marvel of civil engineering by itself too.

For a Great experience, Start from across the bridge at the Lookout point by taking an Uber or a drive to the lookout point parking lot. Take great photos of the city of San Francisco. Then walk across the bridge itself. The walk across is amazingly scenic and takes only ten to fifteen minutes.

The fortress below the Golden Gate Bridge is a Civil War era fortress that is also open to the public but it is run by the National Parks.

Once across at the main visitor centre, there is a small park where you can view the history of the bridge and buy souvenirs or catch a bus (28) down to the Fisherman s wharf!

Spectacular views of the bay. The most iconic and recognizable structure in San Francisco. Beautiful place to walk around, take pictures and grab some souvenirs as mementos of your visit. There is no fee required to enter.

Beautiful piece of history with a great view alongside of it. Definitely recommend stopping by the park/viewpoint if you have the time or happen to be driving by it on your way in or out of the Bay Area!

If you can take the time to visit it at night you won t be disappointed with the view of the city at night! Absolutely stunning!

Definitely a sight to behold. Come to San Francisco for the food, the attractions, but definitely stay and take in the sight of the Golden Gate Bidge - a piece of world history and art. To make simple structures as artful as the Golden Gate is truly unique.

What can you say about the Golden Gate Bridge? An iconic structural master piece that will live on forever. Great public Access to walk across, take pictures from both sides - rain or shine. Lots of historical information on both sides of the bridge. I've lived in the Bay Area for Many years and am still in awe of this beautiful man-made bridge. A MUST SEE on your list.

A San Francisco trip isn't complete without a visit to and across the Golden Gate bridge. It can be cross by car (toll heading south), walking (east side) and bike (west side). Try not to ride bikes on the east side.

Life moves pretty fast. If you don t stop and look around once in a while, You could miss it.
Golden Gate is a Beauty. Its a great place to hangout with your loved one. The Bridge is pretty chilly so carrying a jacket will help. If you get a chance to go in the Evening, you can see the Sun setting on one side of the Bridge and the Moon rising over the City on the other side.

I was really looking forward for a great walk over the bridge, but for some reason it was not that great an experience. The construction deserves a standing applause and the photo that you get with the bridge in background is priceless.

July/August - Be prepared for the fog. Apparently the best time to visit San Fran is between Sep and Dec. The bridge is about a 15 minute walk and we'll worth doing. You can get hop on / off buses up to the bridge.

This place is great. I enjoyed the walk and the view of the bay from the bridge. I found it best to walk the bridge around sunset. You can see the bridge during the day and during the night. Walking the bridge closes at 630pm. They have bathrooms at each end of the bridge. Overall a good place for sightseeing trip. Lastly, pack
sacks and water.

A true modern marvel. The bridge is really something to lay your eyes on. No, it isn't that fancy or detailed up close, but walking out over the water really starts to give you a sense of the sheer scale of the bridge. If you're driving out to the bridge, know that there is additional parking on the hill at the South end of the bridge. And if you plan to walk out even part way across the bridge ( which I highly recommend) bring a coat because the breeze will pick up out over the water and it is always chilly.

Amazing view finally we were able to see it in 2nd visit as last year when we visited it was completely covered in Fog.

Park your car for free at "Langdon Court" and then walk down for 3-5 minutes to the Golden Gate bridge.

If you want you can Rent a Bike and also go on the bridge as Pedestrian walking is not allowed on the bridge.

The heart of SF. I was surprise how beautiful this bridge in real than all the pictures of the bridge. You should see this with your eyes and try to go different spots for different angles/ view. You won't regret.

What an iconic site. I was a tourist visiting the golden gate bridge for the first time and it was amazing to see in real lofe what we had seen in movies. There is a beautiful viewpoint where ypu can take pictures of the bridge too. It is much bigger than imagines. A must see attraction in San Francisco.

Beautiful. Just plain beautiful. This place has a lot of angle to take a picture of the bridge. The best I think it's on the bottom right near the center. There is a panorama view of the entire bridge and the sea below. There's also a walking stair goin down the sea. Be mindful of the fisherman there. Some of them hate tourist. No joke. I have a video of this guy's yelling us to leave the port . Also there's a way to use bike or walk the entire bridge. Enjoy the view this place is pretty.

It held my weight as we drove over. 5 stars!! A great American Icon. Very cool to see for the first time if you are new to the area. Don't forget to go to some of the local lookouts to see it from a variety of angles. There are a lot famous viewpoints that you might recognize once you get to them. Enjoy your time here!

When I was a elementary school student, we went to a field trip to the Golden Gate Bridge. But it was a little bit cold. I did not like that. However, I enjoyed the sea under the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Golden Gate Bridge looked awesome than I thought. But thinking back, the temperature was right to me. Not that hot,not that cold...... I think this is the one of the good facts of San Francisco nor California. I cannot forget the good and awesome memories there, if I became independent, I am planning to go back to the Golden Gate Bridge. And I met many friends from other classes in 1st grades. I can pack a another good memory in this place.

Enjoyable walk along it, although you're dodging pedestrians and cyclists the whole way. Great views from the far side, and you can get a tour bus out to Sausalito from there too, and get some other, less seen, views of the bridge.

We took the train across the bridge in the dead of winter. The icicles hanging from the suspension bars were incredible! They would split a homeless person in two if they fell. The train was great. It had a dinner car and bar car, so I ordered a Gibson just like Cary Grant would, but they were out of mint. It takes the train several minutes to cross the bridge because of all the donkeys. Donkeys have traditionally lived on the bridge since the first span was built in 54AD. Local legend has it that if the donkeys leave the bridge, it will collapse exactly one year later! Wow! In the very middle of the bridge there is a memorial to the men who built the current green version. 945 men were killed when the balsa wood version in the original plans caught fire. They decided then not to let Bantu tribesmen design the bridge and a reputable architectural firm was hired and they recommended steel instead. The bridge has the capacity to send 1,200,434 cars, 13 trains and 2 Zeppelins each day, making it the 5th most efficient bridge in San Francisco. All in all the Golden Gate Bridge is a large steel bridge across an expanse of water.

One of the most beautiful Bridges I ve ever visited. This one s my most favorite place here in BayArea. If you wanna have a complete view of the bridge, you can have it from VistaPoint, Battery Spencer and the view point next to toll gate. Golden Gate is the most photographed bridge in the world. You can walk or have a bike ride across the bridge which will be your most amazing experience you can cherish for a long time. There s enough parking space near GoldenGate North vista point from where you can click some amazing views. It s always foggy and windy on the bridge and you are lucky if it s sunny so that you can see the entire bridge and the top. Make sure you walk on a particular side, so that there s enough space for the bikers. Decent number of bus services ( GoldenGate Transit service) are available from civic center and from Sausalito and make sure you have enough change ( $5 ) cause they don t accept cards nor they give change for you $10 $20 bills. Below are some of captures from this amazing place........
