Personnel was very friendly and fast. (If the rating was only about them, I would probably give four stars). However airport is really dirty, cheap and overall it has nothing good to offer. Your plan is to stay there as short as possible.

We wait for our luggage for ages.
They are not organized enough and the facilities are very old.

The VIP Lounge is wonderful. That was it, too, with praise.

The landing was horror, the quasi-full braking is not great for first-timers. But the start was better.

The ladies' room upstairs had only 5 servants out of 5 cabs, one snake up to the benches.

You do not work fast either, we came to boarding almost an hour later (nobody knew what was going on, not even the staff), then had to wait for the stairs outside. We flew off with a little over an hour delay.
After all, the pilot has then managed to arrive with 15 minutes late at the Zielfughagen.

I hope there is still a lot going on at the airport.

I hope I can avoid using this chaotic airport wherever I can. An airport without any AC in a hot region is not acceptable.

Unfortunately, everything goes haywire here. The gates are swapped without a display, there are too few chairs, the coffee has no less than 9 chairs at 3 tables. The luggage belt only works to a limited extent, not all display boards work.

Everything worked out great. We received the luggage very quickly. Unfortunately, there was no soap and towels in the toilets. In times of Corona this is suboptimal!

Arrived 2:30 before the flight, after making the rental car that went well (Drive agency that went to wait for us until 2:30 in the morning to pick up the car, I did not believe too much), in the departure hall, it was hot, and the tail a little long, they recorded at the same counter 23 24 25, the passengers for Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Paris at the same time, they must lack staff. The serious lack of this airport is the dirt that reigns everywhere, the bathrooms are indecent and the chaos is king. It is not possible that an international airport is in this state, given that we are talking about Crete, or the cradle of civilization.

Never had such a bad experience like this. You need to be 4(!) hours before the flight at the airport, if you want to reach your flight. Queue was starting outside ouf the airport. Process manager need to be fired! Never ever again!

Even after the end of the summer season, the inseparable gates prevail. Too bad for the "central" airport of Crete.

the only decent areas are those of the Gates and the Duty Free point for the rest needs a nice refresh.

I don't understand all the negative criticism, if I fly south, I want southern flair, a beautiful, typically Greek airport, the duty free when flying back is very nice, especially the prices are absolutely okay!
If you would like to pay 6 euros for your water and need an airport with a marble floor and fountain, you should go to Abu Dhabi, not to Crete!

The most shitty airport of those that I saw in my life. At the check-in desks, the air conditioning is not working, the room was +32 ...
Baggage is not accepted at the check-in counter (this was the first time I saw it), after weighing, you need to carry suitcases further.

Dirty bathrooms. Few and insufficient. Broken towels.
Few seats waiting for boarding.
It is very close to the center and well connected. Many rentals outside. But the structure is absolutely undersized to the tourist traffic that it supports.

Arrival was ok. Fast departure from the airport and easy access to rental cars. The departure was the real horror! Waited at the check-in hour. Then there was only a queue to the gates. Wait another hour. Flight short because we were there 2 hours earlier. A renovation is urgently needed.

Stratospheric prices, uncomfortable seats in the waiting rooms, unfriendly service staff and lack of hygiene in the services.
A nightmare place.

I put 1 star because it doesn't make me put 0. It's an airport (if you can call it that) on the edge of the surreal. Even if you arrive 3 hours earlier, you make 2 hours in a row between checkin and boarding. Desperate people who are afraid of missing the flight and skip the line. A delusion!

By comparison, the Pizzo Calabro airport is a futuristic jewel.

A place that should be something representative leaves much to be desired in the area of hygiene and especially in the sanitary groups. In fact, the whole place leaves the impression of something shabby, forgotten about time!

Traveled to and from this airport very recently. It is in very bad shape (outside and inside), extremely outdated without the best customer service either. The duty free area may be very nice and there are a couple of nice lounge/cafe bars to relax prior to your flight, but other than that the airport desperately needs an expansion and remodeling in order to achieve the modern day standards of European airports. Would not suggest it to anyone travelling unless absolutely necessary.

This airport is a joke! The check in is far to small. All toilets are dirty, destroyed and and most of the sinks are broken. Maybe the organisation should think about a new facility manager.

Too small airport for the amount of people it serves. Very old, what wouldn't be a problem if it was cleaned more often: sticky floors, smelly toilets, trash lying around.

What a bastard! I have rarely experienced such miserable sanitary facilities. Both on arrival and departure. Doors could not be locked, everything dirty and disgusting, no paper, etc. Incredible. Here you should really just go on it, if it does not work anymore.

The Duty Free looks like he does not belong there at all. He is very tall, modern and clean. The only highlight at the airport, but attention. Before looking at the prices, some things are incredibly expensive here.

No organization, very dirty, air conditioning useless, incompetent staff, following our flight cancellation transavia we had to wait at the airport Thursday with 20 people and staff so incompetent after 5 hours of waiting they offer us flights Monday then when some people call from France we tell them that there are many places available before !! we had to wait an hour and a half after just to get the bus that takes us to the hotel. For an airport of this level, there should be more space. But in principle, and so good. If there are few airplanes and the weather, as usual, is good, then you could walk and go on board or to the airport instead of taking the bus. Duty free is moderately normal and unobtrusive. Prices, like at all airports now, are not duty-free. The choice in cafe bars is small. Arrived and departed in November 2019, so the airport was not crowded. Overall, the impression is good.

Arrival completely without problems. When departing 30.09. a bit chaotic, baggage and security just under an hour. Condition of the toilets is well known, you just go ahead and do not pour water into it.

Impossible! Animal warm and totally overcrowded. The condition of the toilets is catastrophic! For a lot of money we could stay in a lounge, otherwise relaxation will be the devil again. Too bad, that makes me question the destination Crete. Fortunately, the outward journey went via Chania.

Small Airport. Therefore, you get fast to everything. The Infrastructure shows its age clearly. Duty free is still very huge for the size of the airport. Only a few places to buy food after the security check. You have to use buses to get to the airport. Be on time because check-in is only open for a short time.

This airport is a shame to Greece and a shame to Crete. I use this airport rather frequently and each time I find it to be more horrific. Much was invested in the duty free, nothing was invested on improving the wellfare of the passengers. The toilets will suit any train station in India. Shame on you, Greece! Is this the gateway to one of your finest islands?

Oh dear, an absolute disaster! You are crammed together with many, many people in a confined space. Under the current circumstances an absolute absurdity. Above all not understandable, since the airport offers possibilities to separate everything over a larger area.

Heraklion airport is the worst airport I've been to. Airport employees do not make daily charter flights. Huge queues and confusion. With 15 check-in gates, everyone suddenly has to go to a separate X-ray to give luggage and the queues are huge. Imagine 15 check-in gates and only one X-ray is open. Third round at customs clearance, although this is the most efficient. The next ones are in the duty-free zone. In addition, ladies can close the cash register in their noses. Haos, huge amount of flights, terrible service. And toilets massacre - stench and dirt.

Flight perfectly on time, we rented a car inside the airport and thanks to this service we were able to travel around Greece far and wide, perfect flight!

Arrival ok, Depature pretty old. Has more of the features of a bus terminal than an airport. Free electricity after security.

4 th time in 4 years ive been to crete but the Airport is a total nightmare and still no improvment unless you want to spend your money in duty free because thats the only area that has improved. As usual flights delayed for more than half an hour check in and departure gates are a nightmare disorganised chaos. When first arriving your to queue outside on the edge of where the planes sit to enter passport control once passed that you try an retrieve your luggage which isnt easy as your sharing the carousel with another 3 flights . I travelled all round the world thailand, maldives, America, Turkey, spain etc and this is the worst Airport by far ive used. Only saving grace is my holiday was wonderful again and the greek people are very friendly just a pity the Airport is a disgrace
