Too hot, too busy, most uncomfortable seats I have had the mispleasure of sitting on. Terrible place, they should spend some money on improving customer service and experience.

I wish no one to leave this airport. What is happening there is a real chaos. No one controls the check-in queue and this means a wild crowd swirling on each side. I will not even comment on the behavior of most crafty tourists. Later, there is even more chaos and crowds, because luggage at this airport is suitable in a different window !!! And attention are only 2! I have visited many airports on different continents but I have never seen anything like this and I hope that I will never have such a nightmare. The only plus of this place are the employees, very polite and helpful, despite the terribly stressful conditions that prevail there.
Old airport with insufficient equipment. But 3 stars, because it (in the off season) very quickly through the security, check-in and transfer. In addition, the staff is friendly and helpful.
Priserne Airport. Zachody one big stink, mess, wet, half was clogged. You feel that you have arrived in a developing country and not a holiday destination.
So terribly chaotic! How can this continue year after year? There is absolutely nothing positive about this airport!
Very efficient and staff very helpful. Service a bit slow in peak season but very welcoming!
The toilets are horrible. Kinda hard to find something also if crowded it can get really tight.
Overall, the airport is totally run down and dark. Toilets are broken and dirty, NO GOBLETS or soap available, about 3/4 of the lighting does not work in the entire airport. Info switches are completely closed. The airport is overcrowded and cluttered, the snakes extremely long, and then our flight was still hours late. If I fly to Crete again I book everything manually and to the airport Chania or Sitia.
Dirty toilets do not close, landing in the cold ...
A little run down. Could do with a fresh coat of paint by the check in counters.
Slow, dirty, loud and incomprehensible announcements. Toilets are totally dirty.
This airport is absolutely catastrophic, dirty, confusing and the sanitary facilities an impertinence.
I do not know what port who visited but check-in as at a regular airport. The downside is that there is nowhere to sit before the initial check-in. And besides, relatively neat.
This airport is a disaster. Disorganized and extremely slow. In times of Corona an imposition.
Much calmer than usual because of the Covid, everything went well this time
Quickly from the plane to the arrival hall. But almost an hour waiting for the suitcases.
Flew back today. No issues whatsoever. Bag drop off was at the same desk as check in. Security queue moved very quickly. The only slight quirk was then having to go through a separate passport control (between duty free and entering the departure lounges). Plenty of seats in the waiting area and clearly labelled flight information. Pleasantly surprised.
City Bus how to get to stop! A short course on how to break through the parking of tour operators to the city bus!
terrible airport layout - not enough check-in places, incorrect information about gates on displays. On the plus side that the service is booming like not in Greece.
Newly renovated and new furnishings, so the arrival and departure fun.
Not the worst place, BUT - definitely seems like it wasn't meant for Int. travel and not quite so friendly either. Offers very little food/shop options, and there are NO smoking zones once you passed through passport check. I recommend going by ship or other means if possible. Would vacation on the island again tho (:
How can you promote tourism with no airport infrastructure. Your airport is a disaster. You have invested in the shop oi g areas and the rest is a pure disgrace
Not exactly the place you want to start/finish your holiday at
Easily the worst airport I've ever had the displeasure of passing through. Needs demolishing and a brand new terminal built. In true Greek fashion, the airport company could even leave the steel reinforcement bars sticking out of the top to avoid paying any tax!
Everything is well organized, visible, the airport pilots are everywhere and help ... Nice airport.
I think I have never given 1 star and I have seen some airports but this one has really been the worst. Toilet is not clean and the general condition is just bad. What worked well were the arrival and departure. The security check was also fast. There were also no flight delays.
Tax-free shops adapted since 2018, become compact and beautiful. Checking in and routing remains a drama.
I went in September and it was a mess because of the European holiday season. It is smaller than the express bus terminal in Korea and the facilities are old.
Small airport, and not enought places for take a sit.
The airport is unusual in everything. The location of the runway requires a high level of pilot skill. A tourist who requires the comfort of European capitals is probably not here ... The discoverer of the purity of nature and the sea will discover the magic of Crete after a while ...
Arrived, left, chose any transport to your liking, chose the direction for this day and set off!
Crete does not recognize the plans and will quickly upset them! Whoever does not think about them and trusts himself and a good mood will be rewarded with the fact that he will be in the air of Crete for a long time ...
All in all a nice airport
Unfortunately, the hygiene measures leave a lot to be desired.
The toilets are lacking in cleanliness and disinfection containers.
The mask requirement in the gats is not checked, although the mask requirement is very strictly observed all over the island.
Nice airport. Small. Cozy. Had everything we needed
Small, uncomfortable, stupidly arranged airport. He needs modernization and reorganization. All services seemed to be stuck in the last century - the years of the 60-70s. With such passenger traffic, especially in the season, and it is quite long here, it should not be so.
Dirty airport. Awful toilets. I didnt even want to touch the doors. No shop to buy meal deals or magazines!!! from once you go through passport control. The duty free section is very small. No options for Vegans (apart from salad). Not enough seating for everyone and the floors are just too filthy to sit on.
The airport is dirty, too small and bad. As Crete lives on tourists, Crete should also have a good airport. This is the investment in the future.
Boy - boy - boy.
Badly organized, cramped, too crowded, no support on site, no luggage trolleys in sight.
I'm used to suffering, but this has nothing to do with vacation.
I don t recommend it!
Right from the entrance we were faced with so many problems. First, everyone working in the airport was angry or bored and talked bad with the passengers. At the entrance in the security area, there were people forcing us to proceed forward even if the place was way too crowded. At the security the police officer did not allowed me to go further without showing him the passport and the boarding pass. In addition after my backpack was scanned and I was packing it, the same officer came angry at me and forced me to open my backpack again and start my laptop without any reason. The toilets were dirty, it was visible that they did not focus on cleaning the toilets.
Avoid the airport or if you find yourself there spend as little as possible time!!!
This airport is a disgrace to the otherwise beautiful Crete. It is old, run down, extremely cramped, poorly aired and dirty. The bathrooms are horrible. Shame.
The worst airport I've ever stayed in !! Disorganized. Virtually no one can give you directions on where to go to store the luggage in the hold, an incredible mess, people who do not know what to do, two hours just to check in. Unprepared airport staff who can not tell you what to do. A tip: as soon as you arrive, if you have to leave your baggage do not stop to make the files for the check. There are counters with the numbers that correspond to a company, look for your company and deposit the baggage then get in line for the check in. For check in: as soon as you enter go to the right at the bottom of it all there are more places to check in. There is not a lot of seating for the gate, so wait patiently. Good luck!
With a car one would say: old, but paid. The airport fulfills its purpose. The one-way check-in went fast, the toilets were clean. That's it. The rest is typical of the country simple. But I also had worse airports.
Update return flight:
Everything worked well again. Everything went fast. I have no more claims. Toilets were i.o.
The shopping area was even very nicely done. Price normal. No super bargains, no rip-off.
All in all, definitely recommendable.
Old, too small, crowded, decriped toilets, small windows, bad view to the outside
All good average, we took it with humor. Bus shuttle to the hotel seemed like a long time, but it doesn't matter. Various providers personally at the airport, also diving school for Padi license. Europe just!
Catastrophic departure plan to arrive at least 3 hours before your departure.
Airport is too small for such an organization
Disaster. Unprofessional.
No kindness, super rude. A hateful team.
Super little badly organized airport I thought I was at La Croix de Berny station (small).
I was even forced to pay 45 for a hand luggage which was 2sm grand bah I didn't pay because it was the end of the holidays and yes I am not ashamed to say I only had 5 . So I was told to leave the luggage.
I emptied my things and the suitcase into a crossroads bag.
Really tramps I will never go back !!!
The worst airport I have ever been to. Even in the deepest hinterland of Asia, one is better organized. It is also extremely dirty, the staff are very rude and do not speak a word of English. Catastrophic.
It seems that the airport is too small to support so many flights, therefore it's quite disorganized. I always have delays in my flights and yesterday they've lost my luggage as well. Staff is mostly friendly, yet some hostesses reply ironically.
No food for vegetarians, or rather very few options for eating. Very small airport with no room for waiting passengers and no aircon in large parts of the building. Poor staff who are not very good at English and who do not smile.
We have been to Crete twice and had the same experience both times: arriving early ensures good seats at check-in.
It takes a long time and there is anarchy in the queue. The cheeky wins ... You have to queue twice: first to have your luggage weighed and then again to drop off your luggage.
We found it very exhausting.
You should know that if you want to fly to Crete.
Dirty, crowded a bit confused with announcements and gate changes..is swissair owner?
Most underdimentioned airport i have ever visited. Overcrowed waiting hall, and disgusting lavatories without toilet seats.
Was busy idd, and certainly not clean everywhere, but honestly I found it easy during our stay, departure from airport, compared to the very bad reviews here.
Total chaos, I haven't experienced anything like this. The airport absolutely does not cope with the passengers. In different queues we are at checkin over an hour and a half. Checkin and baggage check-in is at different locations.
Not enough room to sit, no A / C so heat to death, incredible mess in the lobby to navigate your way.
Frankly the only negative point of the island ...
An old airport, which should someday be replaced by a new one in Kastelli. The arrival always worked smoothly, for bus and taxi connection is taken care of. The departure is more cumbersome, but the departure hall is usually hopelessly crowded and the working processes of the ground staff rather resinous.
Despite Corona very nice staff, quick processing and no bad surprises for us as a family.
The QR code was checked and the baggage claim started.
Check-in and most things take a long time. Let's act with enough time,
We waited at the airport for 3.5 hours without the possibility to sit somewhere. Everywhere crowded with people, dirt and garbage.
Even though there are less tourists because of corona it is still to small for the amount of people there.
The airport has the worst approach I ve ever seen to check-in luggage. First you must queue for an age to get your boarding pass and suitcase labels, before then joining a new queue to put your cases through an X-ray machine. This is all before the usual security/passport control.
Everything old and simple, just cool . Departure, long waiting time at check-in. Chaotic, display board does not work. The contrast program is the duty free area, everything new and shiny.
Airport with its own charm.
Cramped and crowded. Travelers must be very patient.
The toilets are a great way to travel.
The urinals here seem to be a newfangled invention, most of them do not know how to use them properly; Luckily I had sturdy shoes on.
If you want to wash your hands, unfortunately the controls are torn off at the sink, in the best case, the water is running permanently or not at all.
Check in etc easily, but sanitary bottom drawer
Conditions that the sow curls. I checked in online the night before. The next morning we were at the airport 2.5 hours before departure. Our flight was not shown on a display board. After about 20 min. then I got out the switch for our flight. So through the overcrowded hall to counter 21 (Condor DE 1601). Despite online check-in at the queue to weigh the suitcase, it took about 1 hour, then queue again to hand in the suitcase, again 45 min. then an even longer queue for security check. We informed several employees that our flight was going soon, the answer was: that was normal. We were called 4 times 30 minutes after the planned departure time. Then through several hundred people and machine just got there. Departure 45min later.
The airport has too low a capacity. Everything is very chaotic. In the departure hall, the search for information and all checkin lines culminate in a huge sea of people. Separate queue to check-in hold baggage afterwards. It is impossible to have an airplane depart here on time.
The airport is quite old and it looks like that and especially the capacity is insufficient, the hall can not even walk through how many people there and not to mention some seats. And until he completes the new airport, nothing will change, which will probably take a few more years.
Dont buy food there, its outrageous prices 15 for 2 cans of coke and two small oranges juices which needed for children. Aside from that its dirty and dated, toilets were really grim!
Absolutely disgusting toilets. No toilet seats available, everything volluriniert and dirty.
This airport is the purest disaster! Much, much, much too small for the number of passengers. In addition, there is a total incompetence of the staff. There is a lot of chaos at this airport, every day the staff seems surprised by the passenger rush. The switches are open much too late, then with far too few people. Also in the waiting area it is the purest guessing game, when and where which plane leaves. The staff in the airport are just dawdling around and then the work jams, then they have to slap, they are overwhelming overwhelmed and unfriendly ....
Unpleasant airport. The entrance with the check-in counters is terrible: the ceiling is too low, making it unnecessarily warm. Furthermore, the space is too small for the high season, which makes it chaotic in crowds, there is an information board that does not display the complete information about the check-in counter numbers, and there are some monitors on the black that are black. Furthermore, dirty toilets.
The departure hall has recently been curious and looks good, but it is also a bit on the tight side.
#kreta #heraklion #iraklion # airfield #airport
An airport of a special kind.
As soon as you arrive in the hall, you will enjoy a feeling of 34 degrees, which will help you to completely lose the freshly prepared freshness in the record time of 3.4 seconds. At check-in, they decided to use the principle of chaos to use a few cordons, anyone could.
It is much more interesting, following the teachings of Darwin, to let nature decide who could fight for one of the switches just before the dehydration. The meanwhile massive sweat exit of all waiting helps enormously with the massive crowd no grazes from getting. If you have survived the fight, you will be wordlessly booked by a co-worker as a couple on different seats in the plane.
In the second queue, before the case task, a militarily acting Valkyrie in staccato gives orders to act. It's no time to lock up the suitcase quickly. Continue to the hand luggage inspection. The temperature still seems to increase.
The waste situation seems to be part of a bio-chemical experiment. You feel as part of a series of experiments, but you do not really know what kind of an attempt that should be. When going to the bathroom, I am reminded of the toilet scene from Trainspotting. I feel violated in my human rights.
The staff has the charm of a skating rink in January, inquiries are dismissed with hand movements reminiscent of the dressing of dogs. Everything looks a bit surreal, but unfortunately not in the positive sense of the word.
Shortly before boarding the heated bus to the plane, I discover still an air conditioner, fighting in an unused room against open doors and windows.
I recommend this airport to all behaviorists and all those who hate organized and beautiful airports. A star is there that we did not crash at the start.
Extremely dirty and smelly. There's flies everywhere
