Very large hotel with a central location in the entertainment district. Offers all possible services. The rooms need an update. The suites on the highest floors are brand new and beautifully decorated. They also provide access to the club lounge.

Wouldn t recommend for families with children. Although website advertises as child-friendly, entrance to infinity pool was denied because children were not allowed on Sunday s, however, website states children are welcome. I brought up that this is not stated in hotel policy, then was told that it was reserved for private event. Although, the day prior at check-in, I was reassured it could be used and was not reserved. Lots of communication gaps within staff, making the guest lose confidence in professionalism and question discriminatory behaviour.

Room was average; comparable to a two/three star hotel. Outdated, see pictures attached.

Reception assistant manager was friendly and receptive of feedback.

Disappointed and would not stay at this hotel again for a family holiday.

This hotel is just okay. The bathrooms are old the rooms are old my hotel lobby smelt like poo as I walked into our room. The staff were okay had multiple mishaps they were still very nice in the end it s definitely not 5 star hotel neither is it worth the price we paid to stay. Other than that the sky beach was lovely but that s all I can really say because I definitely won t go there again. Not 5 star. Still had a great time in Malta though.

One of the best Intercontinental hotels I have stayed in. Great location with beautiful views, particularly from the Skybeach on 19th floor. Superb customer service! 'Nail' at the front desk went out of his way to ensure our trip was a memorable one and everything was handled with personal touch. Can't recommend this place enough. We will definitely be returning!

The facilities are beautiful. Breakfast can be normal. In the detail, the score was outstanding. The mineral water attached to the service was opened, or the dryer and refrigerator in the room were broken. If I contact the front desk, I will respond, but I wanted it to be firm from the beginning

I visit Malta many times due to my husband's business. It was my first stay at intercontinental.
Unfortunately i have to say I was really disappointed from my room. water drops falled down from the AC the shower had drain problem. From the first day (I've been there 4 days)I reported the problem but they couldn't fix the problems. Except for those problems the room was generally very old fashioned and badly maintained. I guess I was my first and last stay. Sometimes you book a hotel because it's 5 star hotel and you believe it has 5 star hotel quality. In this case I give intercontinental 3stars.

Truly amazing staff. The hotel is showing its age room wise but our stay has been outstanding because of the people working here. Great bar area both on street level and on the roof top. The surrounding area is party central with tons of restaurants and nightclubs so be aware and ask for a room facing the inside area and not the street front.

Staff are wonderful and really friendly. Especially Ryan on the front desk! Rooms are spacious and the breakfast buffet has lots of choice. Only negative about this hotel is the outside sounds of nightlife on the weekend, carries on till the morning and no amount of double glazing can block it out

Visited during the Malta Blockchain Summit. I am sure the location and the staff can to better. Totally overhelmed by the crowd that attended the Conference. Nonetheless the Rooms and the Rooms for the Breakout Session looks nice and also the Outdoor Places on the 7th Floor have potential.

Had a wonderful experience at the Mediterranean forum. Such an amazing event and I'm so much happy to hear that all the people around the world came together and planning on how to enjoy this beautiful world together and to bring the hospitality industry to a better concept.

Great hotel with high standards and service very friendly. Specially, Phoeng from House Keeping, who is very professional and nice. Always satisfying our requests very quickly and keeping our room clean and tidy, with a smile on her face. And Doris, from the breakfast team, who is really proffesional and friendly. She looked after me when I went for a late breakfast and even if they were cleaning, she empathized instantly with me and stopped what she was doing to offer me a coffee. I really appreciate I could start the way back to home after a warm coffee and wishing to go back to the hotel. 5 stars for both of them!

My wife and I went to Malta's InterContinental for a weekend and we were completely disappointed by the quality of our stay.
First, the room. It was more than vetuste. There was a huge hole with a lot of dust under the minibar. The guest manual was completely torn. Some bed sheets was having hole !?.. in the bathroom we could easily find mold in the shower.
Then, client reception. When we arrived, no one asked us if he could take out luggage... even the bagagier just in front of me. At the reception, the girl we talked to was just unpleasant.
The pool now. In a middle of Saturday, some workers was building a scene making a lot of noise... except that, the pool is fair but remember the 19th floor pool is not accessible unless you have a suite (something mot mentioned in the site). The garden furniture is old and not well maintained. Parasols for example are faded.
The concierge... they are not well organised. We booked a taxi for a specific time and when we arrived the taxi was not there. They just forgot to book it.
The only thing that was good was the restaurant. Our meal was tasty.
All of these is not what I expect from a 5 stars hotel. There are plenty of things to improve and client care is the first. So I do not recommend this hotel at all.

Worst experience amongst the IHG hotels stayed. Holiday Inn Express was way better.
Fluctuating water temperatures. Horrible pillows. Poor service from waiters and waitresses during peak mealtimes.

A huge expo stretched this very large hotel to the limit I think, causing some service slippage - never got back to me about wifi problems in my room, and ignored for ages at breakfast (had to go and find my own coffee). But everyone I spoke to directly was really friendly and helpful, just difficult getting attention sometimes.

This is the only reason for the missing star, everything else about the hotel was very good, comfortable rooms (though the water temperature struggled to maintain steadily, again maybe because they were fully stretched). The rooms were spacious and well appointed, and the location superb, right by the sea in St Julians.

Very attractive gardens, and the rooftop pool (not tested, in November!) looked great too.

I would go back there, when they are not dealing with a massive conference.

Hotel does not deserve 5*, maybe it did 15 years ago but currently the rooms are in bad condition and they smell like mould (I changed rooms twice due to that but all of them smelled bad anyway). Water pressure in the shower is a joke and the rollercoaster of water temperatures you get while showering is just awful. Breakfast is inedible, we went there only once and never again. The staff is making a problem out of everything. Definitely stay away.

Whom ever is responsible for housekeeping and guest relations deserves a raise. It is the small touches in the room that made one feel welcome and appreciated. The hotel did not have the tacky dying swans on bed but rather good quality pastries and sweets, etc. In other words there was a lot of thought placed behind the presentation of the room and the staff helpful and guest focus. I was pleasantly surprised. The only slight criticism I have is the restaurant downstairs, the menu is lets say very safe. From my understanding it has two of the top chefs in Malta and honestly I expected a little more, though I understand the reason they might want to play it safe.

Very good location, it also has a casino nearby (DRAGONARA). Everything was very clean, very good service, great breakfast, snacks at 11:00, desserts at 17:00 etc. Of course, we stayed in a two-room suite for 14 days with everything paid because another hotel we had booked had made a mistake (I think "Victoria "it was called). We had a separate elevator and reception on our floor.
We had no contact with the rest of the hotel, so the comment only concerns the accommodation and the facilities we had!

Very good location. Near the mall, cafes and restaurants. The stuff is perfect, really nice and polite. Great facilities such as the pools (one inside in case of rain), the gym and the spa.The breakfast is really nice,it has everything. One night we stayed in a standard room and it was good. But because we were on our honeymoon we wanted to stay in a suite and that was perfect!

This must be the least luxurious IC, they should be degraded to 4 stars due to various things. Compared to other 5 star hotels, the total experience here is flat.
Staff is mostly serviceminded, the concierge very nice and helpful, servers in the Lobby Bar Waterbiscuit very friendly.

The management needs to improve their communication towards guests. Outdoor Pool area 10th floor was closed for two days due to private event, without beeing announced before and the staff could only suggest guests to go to the beach or wait until afternoon when pool are was to be opened again. When I tryed to ask for a conversation with the manager in the reception, all they did was send messages back and forth between us through a helper, and did not face my complaint. No compensations made.

Pool and Bar area on 10th floor holds lots of sunbeds but the pool is not heated, approx. 20 degrees C in end of September.

Double room good, sound proofed balcony door but between rooms and from the hallway you hear a lot. For a sunny balcony, get a room ending with No 01-20 on floor 10 and up.

Connected gym is awesome, close to an indoor pool which is nice for an evening swim.

Really mediocre hotel, does not deserve these 5 stars for 6 nights paid 1400 ...
1st room number 512, high humidity in the room which is felt in the bedding, damp sheets ... bathtub hose broken so water running everywhere, flushing water that leaks when used, not to mention the Hellish noise from the street because of the construction in front and the staff who come to disturb you every morning in the room to make sure that you do not steal anything from the mini bar without reporting it ...
So I ask to change rooms ...
Disaster again ... Room 854 this time and hence the attached photos, very dilapidated room, humidity, dirty beds, poorly cleaned bathroom, everything is in poor condition, broken tiles ...
Hotel booked on booking for these high-end services, in order to ultimately not be able to benefit from the panoramic swimming pool because invoiced at 50 per day and per person, `` private beach '' it is not the case it can be used for no any person what sets you apart from other users is only your parasol
I would absolutely not recommend the Intercontinental Malta and am really very disappointed with these services.

It largely depends why you're coming to Malta, but I think it's safe to say you'd like to have a good view of the ocean. If you're staying at the intercontinental, it's assumed you'd want a upscale, modern room. Unfortunately, neither of these were the case for my stay. Unlike other reviewers, I enjoyed the neighborhood, although it does cater to the under 30 party crowd. The lounge here is amazing, and absolutely the saving grace of this hotel. Great drinks and good service. The breakfast served here is pretty decent, but the made to order menu is sparse for a 5*. If you're not getting enough exercise bouncing around Malta and Gozo, the gym here is outstanding.

I've been here a week, and have a week left. When you are up in the lounge, you can see the modern rooms right above you that feel like it would be more appropriate for the price. I guess I'm just bitter from looking at those nice rooms, it's quite possible they are not any better on the inside. I half expected to be upgrade upstairs, since I'm a platinum ambassador, but I should have listened to the other reviewers who said I'd get just a one level upgrade to the junior suite. It's a good sized room, but really needs redone (not just new furniture). Places like this make me question if it was wise for me to upgrade to Ambassador program, especially when I'll be at the Spire level after this stay. Finally, the top floor pool was great, with some nice views of the city. Again, don't expect to see more than a glimmer of the ocean. Unfortunately, today (22 Oct) was the last day the top floor pool will be open!

Over priced for the quality of rooms. Hotel staff is biased towards Caucasian clients. Surrounding streets are shady and you are often woken up by brawls in wee hours of morning. Food quality is strictly average

The construction took the points down. I imagine that the future intercontinental will be beautiful but with all the construction going on it has been far from relaxing. Loud honking is heard from the construction vehicles blocking the streets and our beautiful view included several cranes. Great hotel, just not as great right now. For a better price I would say it's fair.
