First of all, the overall space is so gorgeous with lots of light, beautiful light fixtures, and art by Dede Hourani that is a fantastic addition to not only the hotel throughout, but also to your room. We really enjoyed our room with an extra comfy bed and lots of space to relax as well enjoy coffee, tea & the mini fridge for leftovers since we dined at the hotel's restaurant, Safina Mediterranean, which was also amazing. Lots of great choices for dining from appetizers to desserts, and we loved the handcrafted cocktails and wine selection. Service from hotel and restaurant was outstanding. Highly recommend.

Don t stay at this hotel. The staff is rude and disingenuous. Trip was planned for a half of year and they wouldn t accommodate me because they needed the same debit card on file. No sympathy or customer service. Very cold and icy people. I would not recommend this establishment!!

PROS: The hotel was beautiful & the rooms were very clean. They supply you with the normal amenities plus robes & matching slippers & an abundance of towels & toiletries. You have the option of getting a fully stocked bar with a lot of options to choose from. You have to use your key card in the elevators to get to your floor because the hotel doubles as residential property. You get all of this & the price is reasonable. CONS: You have to pay $22 a day to self park in the garage which is cheaper than getting the valet service. Now that's not too bad, however; this is what caused me concern...You have to prepay for your stay PLUS you have to give them a refundable $100 incidentals fee!!! When I asked the desk attendant about the charge they said that all hotels are charging this fee & making customers prepay for their stay...umm no! That's a lie because I just came from vacation at the 4 star Diplomat Resort in Hollywood, Florida & we paid at the end of our stay with no incidentals fee. Overall the staff at the InterContinental was pleasant & very accommodating. It took me awhile to check in because I paid with cash & the desk attendant had a hard time handling the paperwork for my $100 cash refund for incidentals for when I checked out. I wouldn't stay at this hotel again simply because of the prepay & incidentals policy. I believe in paying for service rendered NOT paying for a service I haven't received.

The hotel is beautiful. Very clean. Very comfortable room However, there is an employee who is bellboy. He is an old man, white, tall, will be over 60 who is not friendly, at least he was not, he even denied us the transportation service offered by the hotel to guests. Until we talk to the manager. When we left the hotel he offered us a 66dlls taxi service and insisted that we not request the uber service because it was slow and expensive, it seemed very intrusive because we had not asked for his opinion because of the way he had treated us. We ignore why he told us that and how it benefits us to pay for an expensive service. We use the uber for less than half the cost he told us, and we arrive at the destination on time. Out of that and some incidents. We enjoyed the stay at the hotel and that the waiters treated us so well.

We had to fly to Houston unexpectedly for a family member who was having heart surgery at the hospital. The hotel is first class from top to bottom. The front desk staff was beyond accommodating with our last minute extensions and additions of rooms. The property is beautiful. The rooms are cleaned immaculately including turn down service.
We spent day and night at the hospital and would return to the hotel late night. We would stop at the bar to finally grab a snack and a cocktail.
This is where we met Naomi. She is friendly, elegant, service oriented, accommodating and an asset to any establishment. On some nights we had the patient's 8 year old daughter with us. Naomi was very engaging and treated this young lady as family. I gave Naomi my business card on my last night and flew back home. This is where we were more than just a "guest" to Naomi. I was back at work and received a phone call from Naomi. She just wanted to know how my brother in law was and if there was anything she could do to help the family that was still in Houston.
WOW~ We hear so much negative and this young lady is such a positive energy in this world. If you are staying at this beautiful property please do not miss the opportunity to meet Naomi:)

Clean spacious rooms, comfortable beds, good room service.
I could hear the street noise from the 10th floor. The quality of the food was very good overall, although the steak's meat was hard to chew, but the taste of the foods was great. I recommend the grilled salmon.

Bad service. Our rate included breakfast starting at 6:30 a.m. which we were not able to do since our room keys were not properly programmed to allow access the the lounge which we paid for. When we complained twice staff was rude and had a get over it attitude and refused to adjust the rate or even apologize.
Definitely not a good choice for families like ours who already have to deal with the stress, inconvenience, and expense of pediatric cancer treatments in the medical center.

Rooms are gorgeous with stellar service and highly attentive staff. When Houston got flooded, they swiftly provided apology letters to all the guests and announced that an emergency buffet would be available instead of the regular dining service. I was surprised that they still charged $40/person for this, but I can't take any stars off since I didn't try it and can't say if it wasn't worth the expense.

The property and rooms were excellent - price was fair given the location. The courtesy car is useless - you have an expectation that this is something you will actually be able to use but in reality you will just take a Lyft/Uber - so skip the frustration and order one first.

Very nice place to stay. The room is very nice and clean large bathrooms with walk in showers and closets. However, the coffee maker is not to my liking. Its espresso only and tiny little cups. We are regular coffee drinkers. I would love to see regular coffee pots in the rooms. Keurig style maybe! Save the fancy espresso for downstairs.. The parking in the (free parking garage) cost us 40 bucks for 2 nights!! That's a little pricey when the sign says FREE parking.. Also there is only one chair in the room.. It doesnt accommodate 2 people in that aspect..

My stay was excellent starting from the people who greeted me at the entrance were very helpful and friendly. The person who gave me check in explained me very much. He was very friendly and helpful and very professional I do not remember his name but I know he was in training he was very attentive to my needs. Also Karen of housekeeping was very attentive to my requests and made me feel at home. the best hotel I know meets all the standards of an intercontinental. thank you! Marla

Very comfy hotel and very conveniently located. Only thing I would change would be to have a handheld shower head - - the overhead one is a bit too far away if you're 5 feet tall. Other than that, perfect!

I've honestly never felt so unwelcome when staying at a hotel in my life. We had to stay there while my husband's mother was passing away and the looks your staff gave us when we checked in was very uncomfortable. If it wasn't for the fact that all we wanted to do was shower and go to bed because we had been at the hospital for 15 hours with a newborn we would've went anywhere else.

My overall experience was good, and I stayed for 3-4 days. Rooms are good/clean and the breakfast has enough choices. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is good and the hotel interior is beautiful.

They have provided complimentary water bottles, coffee etc. The maximum # of persons per room allowed is 2 people max.

They have a paid parking area. The daily self-parking cost is around $22 per day. If you are staying for a few days, they have a package called 'Daily Parking' package.

This hotel is exceptional, and comparable to some five star hotels in Europe. There were even nespreso machines in the room! My only critic is the restaurant staff (for dinner and breakfast) could have additional costumer service training. For dinner we arrived late (10:30 PM) and were obviously tired, but the waiter acted as if we were a a romantic dinner when we told him we just wanted to order food and get to bed. The next morning we ordered breakfast to go after waiting to get water for almost 15 minutes and it took even longer (aprox. 45 minutes). Maybe it s the south, but really there was no sense of urgency or commitment to our experience from anyone around. The staff were even taking their time cleaning up around us and didn t acknowledge our presence and we were the only guests in the restaurant. I debated taking away a star, but for a new hotel I couldn t have been more impressed with the overall experience. Will definitely be back if staying in Houston again and will be staying at more Intercontinentals in the future.

Went here for a wedding reception on the ballroom ...

Went here for a wedding reception on the ballroom floor. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff is friendly. The hotel layout is also very well done. They have well placed elevator banks that allow you to go directly from the garage to the ballrooms without having to first go to the lobby and get on another elevator.

Parking was the only problem. I stayed at the reception for about 4 hours and had trouble getting out of the garage because a garage attendant was at the gate and fed my ticket into the machine. The screen indicated I owed $12. I gave the attendant my credit card but it would not process. He kept pushing buttons until the transaction was cancelled. Then he pushed the lost ticket button and wanted $22 to exit the garage. I told him I did not lose my ticket and he pushed the button he called someone and asked me if I was at the wedding. I told him I was so he made up how it was $22 because I did not get my parking validated. At that point I told him it was his fault for botching the transaction and I was not going to pay him $22. It was when a valet pulled up behind my car trying to get a car to a customer that the attendant finally gave up and let me exit without paying the $22.

The hotel could put in garage parking pay stations by the elevators on multiple floors and give people up to 15 minutes to exit the garage by collecting only the prepaid ticket at the gate to avoid this kind of problem. I'm sure the staff inside the hotel would have handled this better if a pay station would not take a $12 payment instead of pushing the lost ticket button.

Great new hotel, a very good hotel addition for Houston, TX. Only open for 3 months now. The club lounge on the 18th floor serves a great breakfast and nice hors d'oeuvres at night. Great view of the South side of Houston. The lobby is spacious and bright and has a bar and a restaurant.
