My top hotel. Wow! High on the Obersalzberg. Top of the coziness.

Luxury hotel with a great food and spa facilities.. If you are looking for a nice relaxing break or skiing and mountain biking activities this is a place to go.

Even though it has been almost a year since we were here, we like to think back to it. It was just beautiful. In the middle of the mountains, great room with terrace and very nice hotel facilities. You can hike from here, make great car tours or biking. Got a G-Class AMG for a day ... a dream for my husband

Very nice traditional hotel. The location is stunningly beautiful and the peace and quiet incredibly relaxing when you come out of the city. Service is good and the food is delicious. However, I would not have expected a gin from the region for 18.
I would love to come back.

The best that the region has to offer. Wonderful views to enjoy and top service in one. At the weekend we borrowed the G63 AMG about the hotel itself and explored the region. One does not get such a possibility every day. Thanks for the wonderful time!

Kempinsky Berchtesgaden is a dirty place. It is overprized. The rooms date back to the late fifties. When someone in three, four, five rooms closes a door you hear it in your room. The scenery around the hotel is great that is the ONLY positive point I can make for this hotel.

Very pleasant stay. Extremely positive, because everyone was very helpful and courteous.

Nice hotel in a good quiet location, culinary interesting, good recreational offer but it happert it with the organizational at the front desk still a little. What also noticed, the foreign employees were much easier with the "hospitality".

Exclusive hotel with great service in a fantastic setting.

A very nice hotel above the mountain, 950 meters above sea level, health club, indoor swimming pool, outdoor swimming pool, massage and regular massage, and fantastic views on the North of the Alps, wonderful for recreation two days away from the city's fuss, not near any market or supermarket. A nice, maybe a bit dated hotel with really friendly and very attentive staff. We had some bad luck with the dinner, once the potatoes were half raw, the next night it was the fish. The breakfast buffet is very rich and very good. Our room was a bit worn. The floors, the parquet in the entrance and the large tiles in the bathroom are very worn, scratched or chipped. Not a nice picture for a 5 star house. Otherwise, all were very, very hard.

Service in the restaurant was very friendly, front desk outrageous and price level not appropriate, especially the spa area is worth a maximum of four stars

Fantastic hotel with a breathtaking view. Fireplace bar and spa were the highlights for me. Pure relaxation with great all-round service.

The hotel is almost perfect with chic decoration and design. The room is very big, suitable for families with kids. But the shower is not very clean, a bit old.

The swimming pool is wonderful, perfect for kids, even in a bit cold weather.

The breakfast is good with many choices. However the price is also a bit expensive.

One of the best hotels in the best locations in Austria. Fantastic views from the rooms and the dining areas. Also the interiors like the bar very nicely made, meticulous down to the last detail and perfect design. The breakfast is that one could ask at his table with local products from the surrounding areas and of perfect quality. Now in terms of staff they were very kind and helpful as well as the hotel manager I was lucky enough to meet.

In my life I have visited many hotels but never someone like this one that offers you so many things that you could not count with 5 stars.

Very nice and very attentive staff. Even if we were "only" guests for a coffee, you could feel the eagerness of the staff to make this short stay as pleasant as possible.
The coffee itself was really a pleasure, by the way.
We were definitely not guests for the last time and who knows ... Maybe for a longer time

Fantastic stay. We travel a lot and this hotel is one of our absolute favorites! In addition to the great spa area and the delicious restaurants / cafe, we were surprised with many small touches throughout the day (chocolates in the room as an afternoon snack) The attention to detail can be found throughout the hotel! The area offers a lot (hikes, museums, golf, skiing etc). The staff is super friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean.

If I could gave, I would have given it the 6th, 7th and 8th star as well. What a dream.

Should have stayed longer! Our biggest mistake was going to Austria instead of staying here for an extra two nights.
They upgraded us upon arrival, the food at the lounge and restaurant was outstanding and the area is gorgeous. I will be going back.

One of the best hotels in the alps. We had incredible good food at the Michelin-Star Restaurant, Great Service and an amazing view from our panorama room.!

A true 5-star experience. The staff is very well trained in all areas and above all always courteous and helpful, never pushy. We did not miss anything at the meeting over 3 days. The rooms are adequately decorated and big.

Whay a hotel! I didn't spend the night but I cant wait to. Next time I visit Germany or Austria I'll make sure to spend a weekend here and hike the Eagles Nest... If you plan in doing the same make sure the roads are accessible as they're only one a few months a year

Super deluxe with natural beauty, a hotel worth visiting

We stayed for the second time in this beautiful hotel. The location and the view of course make the hotel special, but the service, the offer, the beautiful rooms but especially the staff give the hotel that special something. It was a beautiful and unforgettable stay! The welcome at the front desk by Lina was incredibly friendly, warm and accommodating. The pool and the child care as well as the incredibly great breakfast were for us the absolute highlights! And when I thought it could not get better, I got a spring massage from Ivona! A dream! I have visited many hotels (also worldwide) but here luxury meets customer-friendliness and perfection. What made it so perfect for us or our daughter was the great offer of child care. Vanessa is attentive, motivated and takes time for each child. Our daughter felt really well! The kids are really allowed to experience a unique hotel experience here. From the children's bathrobe, children's slippers, a private podium at the front desk, a small collection of welcome gifts and the great children's menu at breakfast, the kids are really treated like real guests. I would like to highlight the staff here again. All are very friendly, attentive, accommodating and give the house a special touch and heart. It was a concern for me to write this review, because I would recommend this hotel to anyone! Many thanks to the great team and we will hopefully be back soon!

A very nice hotel with many pleasant surprises such as a piano player in the entrance and lounge area or a valet service.

To make it easy for the reviewers, I will summarize my issues as follow:
1- very slow check in! I was assigned an intern/trainee that was learning everything and spend almost 20 min to do the check in although I arrived clearly from a 500km distance with kids and a little baby...very tired but no mercy, thank you!
2-no tour about the hotel facilities... go discover your self!
3-missing items in the room: 1 bottle of shampoo and shower gel for 2 adults?! bathtub and shower room separate and require at least 2 bottles of each! there was a reminder message a few days before our arrival sent to them but no careful listening!!
4-rain shower is the weakest I have ever anticipated in any hotel!!
5-MAJOR PROBLEM was the toilet chair was not clean from inside!!! light brown! when I informed the housekeeping and the head of the housekeeping, they admit that this is dirt!!!! guess what did they do to me! they just tried to clean it again but it seems that it was kept for a long time and difficult to clean and guess what! they did not change my room, instead, they went back and forth to clean it, again and again, hoping that that may improve without any benefit significantly and they used some solutions with the distinctive smell... throughout my total stay! IT COULD BE EASIER FOR THEM AND FOR US IF THEY CHANGED OUR ROOM! INSEAD, THEY LEFT US SUFFERING BAD SMELL AND UGLY TOILET CHAIR! I REPORTED THIS TO THE DUTTY MANAGER but improvement for my stay although he promised!
-we requested a morning coffee which comes as a complimentary for loyalty members, but they brought one cup although we are two adults in the room
-I requested an additional 30 mins for the standard check out to be able to pray me and my family, the receptionist said: they are fully booked and can't do it but if they will do it there will be extra charge?! SO THANK YOU FOR THIS SERVICE! AN EXCENTRIC SERVICE!
luckily when we later arrived at a 3 start hotel in Nuremberg in the afternoon, we paid half the cost of that Kempinski and we got more than what we got at Kempinski, At least the service was very predictable

The most beautiful 2 days went very fast, it was just amazing what I will never forget.

There were some strange stains on the bathroom floor. By the way, the hotel was built in 2005.... that explains everything.

Tranquil setting, nice views and surroundings. Beautiful rooms and fine food. Got a cosy bar with a piano player in the weekend. Staff is always helpful. Only the spa dissatisfied me. It's not inviting you to relax and spend some time there the way it was designed. As the hotel is located relatively high, it was snowing and everything turned white, when in the valley close-by it was pouring rain.

We booked spontaneously for one night in the Kempinski Berchtesgaden. The welcome was very pleasant, authentic and super friendly. The car and luggage were taken immediately and the check in was done within a few minutes. The rooms are very large, clean and comfortable. Bad and everything around it is Tippi Toppi. The view of the mountains absolutely awesome. In the center of the hotel there is a nice bar with a central fireplace. The hotel also has 3 restaurants and a spa. The wellness area was too uncomfortable for me, for the coziness, for example, wood effect (instead of typical indoor pool tiles), a fireplace or something similar was missing. The beach chairs in this hotel category should be a bit higher quality. Unfortunately they have cracked quite a lot during movement. The little spa has cost me in sum the 5th star.
The breakfast was absolutely awesome, absolutely everything you need and what you can imagine. Top service and super attentive staff There were also fresh apple pies brought directly to the tables.

Very pleasant hotel, with a great view and very good food. The staff is friendly and accommodating, the service leaves nothing to be desired - just what you would expect from a five star hotel.

The Kempinski Hotel is located on Obersalzberg in Berchtesgaden in a wonderfully beautiful corner surrounded by mountains and a great view.

Very warm welcome and nice service on arrival. The hotel itself is modern, large, well-kept and just great.

To the rooms:

- Coffee, tea for free
- Welcome chocolates
- Sky TV
- minibar
- Super beds with bed linen from the Bavarian forest

The hotel also has
- 2 restaurants (Johann Grill and the star restaurant Pur)
- 1 vinotheque
- 1 fireplace bar
- Sauna, pool & spa

Overall, the service at breakfast, in the restaurant Johann Grill and room operator was "ok" but not outstanding. That was the only thing that could do better in a first class hotel like the Kempinski.

The cafe is very nicely decorated, the food and the drinks were great. Only the prices are extremely high

Breakfast lot of choices, very comfortable lobby lounge, also has a piano bar, room partial business type, open the back door is a large open space, beautiful snow

TERRIBLE SERVICE!
No-one was at the door to assist me upon arrival so I had to carry my own bag out of the car& into the hotel. Had to wait 15 minutes at reception before I was helped& checked in. Had to carry my luggage and make my own way to my room. Room very superficially cleaned, very dirty under bed & behind furniture items. Very limited fresh fruit at breakfast. Only one vegetarian option on the entire menu at Johanns grill and the food is not good at all. The man at the door of Johanns grill is very rude & gave me a hard time about not making a reservation even thought I took the calinary package and the restaurant was never at full capacity for dinner.

Been many-many times, from that was Intercontinental hotel and then also few times as it was acquired by Kempinski. Things getting better in last year - more authentic, more connected with natural, more English speaking service (btw, important!). Rooms slightly refurbished - good. SPA - untouched, great! Breakfast nicer now, cool new coffee station. Kids club absolutely wonderful! Tons of different perks (just ask) like e-bikes, Mercedes AMG experience, etc. Will return..!

Highly Recommended. It was the third time in the Kempinski in Berchtesgaden.

This hotel offers a supreme level of service. I was quite amazed of that when I arrived. The staff is really service oriented and very pleasant to talk to. Speaking English is no problem. The rooms are also very nice. Cleaning is good and the view is great. I will recommend this hotel and what it has to offer.

Lovely hotel with great food and at a great location.

Fantastic place. I would recommend this at any time! The view and rooms are spectacular. I lost my Jacket and told reception- who then took care of it. I came back into my room at night and it was hang up. These are the small things that makes it outstanding.

Defective shower head, toilet not clean, bottle caps under the bed, service at the bar totally overwhelmed. 1 hour for a coffee. 2. Order was not served at all. Leftovers and serviette on the floor were simply overlooked.
The dinner was very tasty. A compliment to the kitchen crew.
Breakfast was good, but far too few seats. Luckily the weather was nice and we could take a seat on the terrace. But even at breakfast, the service gets bad marks. Coffee took 45 minutes and dirty dishes were only taken on request. The icing on the cake was the driving service. After waiting 30 minutes for our car, we asked carefully. The dear man said that we were unfortunately overlooked, but now he has a break and we have to wait!
The hotel is also showing considerable wear and tear in some places.
5 Stars ???? The prices yes, but otherwise not

Top class. Hotel in perfect location, breakfast and restaurant absolutely recommended. Personnel remarkable, one experiences very seldom.
Was here again in 2019. Everything is absolutely top again. Photos are also from 2019. Otherwise, this time to notice the staff. I am also amazed by the trainees in the bar and restaurant, excellence. Thank you.
