This is my favorite store. I'm glad I don't live closer or I'd be spending every weekend here buying more tech.
This is my favorite store. I'm glad I don't live closer or I'd be spending every weekend here buying more tech.
Absolutely love this store. They have a huge inventory, great prices and staff knows their stuff.
It was okay, I have a defective item in going to update my product exchange experience there
Excellent IT solutions under one roof. Staff is extremely helpful, i need to mention one particular name - Mr. Mike Parsa, who shared his best advice and service to me during my recent visits.
A local computer center that works to deserve your business!
Lots of cool stuff here. Kind of a ghost town though now. Feels like walking back in time a decade.
I own a small business and recently bought 2 computers at Micro Center. Has worked great but I had an issue with the other with its keyboard shorting out. The staff was so helpful in resolving my issue professionally. I'd like to give them 10 stars. If your into computers and tech they have have Everything you need. Also check out their great selection of refurbished machines, they are great values. I only use Micro Center to purchase my new computers.
Great place for any computer builder/user, plus good deals on displays, cameras, various other hardware. They will match any price, but they tend to be good to better on average. Have been going here for years for work and home, never a bad experience, can see why Microcenter Cambridge hangs tough no matter how many Best Buys open, so much more in stock, can't say enough!
If your thinking about going to microcenter chances are you already know what it's about, it's THE place to go for computer parts. Priced lower than Amazon and eBay this place has everything the computer enthusiast could ever need. Also they Carry accessories brand new and refurb machines as well as hobby electronics phones etc. Best store around I drive an hour one way to go there when I need parts and its worth it EVERY time
Great place, tons of deals and its place were you can get all your computer needs
Wow, so disapointed with the services I got , and paid for. Normal I rate stores 4-5 starts that I like and want people to do business in. Right now, I don't want anyone to deal with what I had to deal with. I never thought that my favorite electronic store would have such a low star rating from me. Why? Due to the service center and the incompetence shown. It's one thing to mess up once. Humans are prone to human error. Two times is pushing it .Three times!? Now I'm angry. I have been a customer for 9+ years closing in on 10. I love the store for the merchandise, and all the newest and latest hardware. I hate this store now, because of the service repair center.
My problem with the service cent, started back in 2010, I had a powerspect pc.That is a store brand from microcenter. That was RAM issues. Had to take it to repairs and had to wait more than 2+ weeks. Now in 2018, with another powerspect, my motherboard stopped working. Fun, I had to go out in the rain making sure the unit didn't get wet. Still in warranty I when in to get it repaired. They couldn't not give me the same motherboard, because they no longer make those. That's fine. But this motherboard sucks, and it's a downgrade in almost every single way! But the fun doesn't stop there. After driving all the way home in the rain, the thing was STILL not working. When back to microcenter, a 2nd time for them to fix there mistake. Now one week later I had to go in a third time because of the same problem. But slightly different, as this time it "wasn't" the motherboard, is was the corrupted operating system'. How do I know it's the same problem is being caused by the new motherboard? Simple, since the second time I came home it kept asking for an update, I kept trying to updated only to have to do the same exact update again, witch I tried to update it for more than a week. Reading on what this windows update is, to see if I some how was updating something wrong, it's regarding the motherboard it detected with my windows 10 pro OS... I left my house after coming from work to deal with this sloppy mess, and have to drive in the rain AGAIN, only to be told "We would need to reinstall windows .That will wipe everything in your harddrive ." Now I'm not a newbie when it comes to tech stuff witch is why I liked this store so much. Yes, reintalling any OS , should wipe the data, this includes windows 10 pro if done correctly. Okay, I have 3 THREE harddrives. An SSD drive and two HDD drives. The OS in on the SSD, yet ALL three drives got wiped. I have been dealing with windows and installing OSs since window 95, 2000, ME, XP, vista, 7 and even windows 10. Never, not once in a PC that I reinstalled windows correctly, did it wipe my additional drives and all their data. I had to do so with windows 7 to windows 10 pro, on my 2008 pc . Still didn't wipe every drive. BUT IT GETS WORST. The system that I both was a windows 10 PRO, with specific hardware specs .What I got , is a slightly shittier version of what I paid for originally with windows 10 home, NOT the PROFESSIONAL version that I paid for. I now have in at least two ways hardware and software, a lesser unit than I paid for. And to think I paid them to reinstall the OS, so that I would not have to ONLY to get a DOWNGRADEDOWNGRADED version of what I started with. Am I happy? NO! Am I going to have to drive a FOURTH time to get it repaired again for their mistake? WHO knows BUT if I do ,I'm going directly to the store manager .
My orginal post that this store has better cheaper parts still stands .But honestly I don't think I am going to buy my next pc from here . Even if I decide to get a different brand or build my own. So dissapointed, and I dont have time to be waist so that they clean up their mess.
Best computer store in Boston Metro. Customer for 10 years. Especially good for DIY hobbyists. Staff are friendly , knowledgable and nerdy.
Great selection of parts. Big Mac department.
Good prices. Enjoy.
Wide selection of parts for PC building at very competitive prices. You won't find a new CPU cheaper anywhere else.
I called and asked if a specific item was carried and in stock. "Yes, we have that item in the store, on the shelf ". When I arrived, I was informed that the store does NOT carry that item. When I questioned the employee, based on my earlier telephone call, he informed me that "the call center doesn't know what we have in stock". Never again will I attempt to do business with Micro Center.
This place is dangerous. Came in for RAM, came out with a whole new build. Staff didn't even push me to buy anything. They just guided me. Best computer store on earth.
Some of the worst customer service I've ever dealt with on multiple occasions, they have the stuff you need, but if there's any flaws or issues with said components, they'll give you every excuse of a run around to not have to do the return paperwork. I think I'll stick to Amazon just for less of a headache. If I could give it a negative rating just for the way management handles situations. I would.
very kind employees who directed me to exactly what I needed
I love this place for all the gadgets, accessories. and connectors. They have computers too. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff which saves you time. And I never seem to have to wait too long to talk to them.
Actually best electronics store I've ever been to. Fantastic selection and prices. Great warranty for some items. Awesome expert staff.
They have EVERYTHING! Computer gear even a heavy duty nerd dreams about.
Great still . Been my go to place for ~25yrs....when did it open? Customers still ahead of sale ,%. ...so we keep coming back.
I didn't have a chance to look around since I was only there to pick up a reserved item, but the store seemed very organized even though it was filled with people for Black Friday. An employee greeted me at the door, sprayed some hand sanitizer, and directed me to where I needed to go. I waited in line at the merchandise pickup desk, but everyone working there was very efficient so I didn't wait for long. I quickly got the item I had come for. I can't wait to come back when things are less busy to look around some more. The location is very convenient, easy to both walk and drive from where I live. Large parking lot shared with Trader Joe's.
Hit or miss. Good deals sometimes, other times way, way overpriced.
Great store! Staff is knowledgeable and prices equal that of online retailers. If you need anything computer related this is the place to go!
Called Microcenter Cambridge since Apple stores are closed due to pandemic and was told they could replace my laptop battery for around $200 (Apple charges $125). Got to store only to be told that it would now cost around $300 and that I may consider just getting a new laptop. I drove 40-minutes to Cambridge for this bait and switch... No thanks!
Was always the best computer store in Boston hands down, for geeks an non geeks a like, large collection from sound, to apple to tv to PC, and builder/ hobbist to drones an rc toys.....it's no wonder it's the only one left. Only issue with a car it's a pain to get too, walk over BU bridge or from Central square....worth the effort.....
It's not as nice as other MicroCenters but it's in a good location and everyone there is nice.
Customer service guys are always Quick to offer help but never really want to lol and do anything to get away after they answer one question.
I came into microcenter looking for screws for a Nikon D3S camera boday. My battery pack was missing some screws and it was causing the camera to loose power. I had a wedding the next day so I wanted to find a solution FAST. I thought this place might have smallish screws that would work for the camera body/battery pack. I searched aisle for packs of screws and found nothing. Went to the repair and service guys told them what I was trying to do. They didn't have any screws for sale that would fit my camera. What they did instead was pull out the "random" screw drawer of one of the employees. We searched through this drawer of thousand of random screws and found 3 that did the trick. I walked out with a working camera and no charge. The service here is amazing. These guys really care and will try thier best to help you. Amazing experience! This is the place to go if you are looking for great service and a high level of expertise
Went here to buy a 2700X, Amazing deal for $130 + tax, totaled to 138 or so. Spent almost no time there, staff were fast, snappy, and helpful
Good place for computer parts. This is the only place I go. The only thing I think is a second location in MA at some point would be amazing, but understand this location is somewhat already convenient for me. Staff is totally friendly to all customers.
Pleasant place to shop for computer and computer parts. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. It's nice to visit a store where they don't pressure you into buying a product that you not interested in.
This stores needs a new interiors design or a new era updated!
In the absence of Radio Shack (RIP) or a Fry's. Microcenter is the best place to get all kinds of electronics. From drones to video game cabinet parts. PCs, Macs, TVs, Cameras? Yup.
Very good prices, professional clean, and friendly staff and organized. Glad that this place still exist best buy is ok but micro center is the real places for us geeks
This place is a dream come true! They have competitive prices on many of their products, especially their PC parts.!. They're also one of the only retailers that carries BAWLS Soda.
love this store! got much spending over $1000. I've made a second trip back to return a single item from my previous purchase, they always accept the returns without much question. I will say I noticed the staff not as knowegablr as I had been accustomed too in the past. If this is due to a policy change please rethink it?
Accompanied my friend here as we were together and he needed to get something. I didn t need anything nor am I a big electronics person. Walked around while he shopped to see what is out there and possibly make a purchase. I eventually asked if there was a waiting area / bench as I no longer felt like walking around being stared at and followed. Staff memener replied I don t care. You better find somewhere to go that s not here. No need to be rude to people who could have returned one day to buy something in the future. Based off of this I will never come back to this establishment. Hopefully they put a better store here when they go out of business.
Great resource in an area where there are tragically few sources for maker materials.
The BEST selection of computer parts at a decent price.
I reserved parts for a new build online, but when I found our a different set was available, they helped me redo half the build. Really good service
I bought a 3D printer that usually sells for $400. I used it, and got print quality WORSE than a $200 printer. I don't blame that on Micro Center. It is the return process that makes me angry. I tried calling them twice, but on both calls I was left on hold for an hour, and never got through. I then sent a request on their online chat feature. No reply. The box timed out with the time it took them to respond. I contacted an agent within a week after that. They replied in half an hour later saying that they were sending my request to a store manager, and I would hear from them within a few days. 4 days later, I write to them again saying that I hadn't heard back. They had to send ANOTHER request to the manager. Once again, two days later, still no response. I send another check-in. They said they are still waiting on the manager's approval. ANOTHER two days pass, and I am pretty annoyed, I ask what is taking them so long. They say they are still waiting on a response. 4 more days, and I still haven't gotten a response. I'll keep this post updated. After A MONTH of contacting them, I still haven't gotten to make my return.
Update: I was able to get a return THREE MONTHS LATER. Sorry for the late update.
Astonishing selection of computer equipment and electronics. I only wish there was one closer in CT
Although there DIY section is great for raspberry pi based Anything. That leaves little room for well DIY involving SDR'S OR ANYTHING ELSE REALLY.
OVERall great store for computer parts and accessories or a computer itself.
The Microcenter is a place that you get answers for all your electronic devices issues. They are knowledgeable, courteous and solving all your problems. They employ young people that have all these qualities and for this u give them even more points.
I love shopping here for all my tech. Alex D. has always been a big help to me since the first time I had to rebuild my computer it's always a pleasure to see him. A lot of the crew there are the best and the few I've worked with on a regular basis it's always pleasure to work with them again! Thank you for the new guy who helped me with my new tower and hard drive
I've bought 2 computers from them. The second one, a laptop, just did the same thing a desktop did 3 years ago I had bought from them, it failed to boot, which is death to a computer. The funny thing is both were at exactly 3 years. The one recently TO THE DAY. I returned it and it was one day over 3 year warranty. I got a shoulder shrug from tech, "sorry no warranty" I don't like these patterns, too coincidental.
The laptop was only used once every couple of weeks for about an hour.
Went this weekend and the store was very busy with line outside but was pleasantly surprised how organized the store was to keep everyone safe w covid rules. Plus got great deal with items purchased so cant complain.
Decent store but they removed the game console section. You can't be a thorough computer store if you don't carry the most popular machines that have processors and memory (PlayStation and Xbox and such).
Huge. Expansive. Helpful staff. They didn't have the graphics card I needed.
The salesmen are aggressive and disingenuous. Great prices and inventory but unpleasant staff.
A true geek smorgasbord. Wonderful component range and selection for grown ups. Great learning toys for tomorrows brightest kids. Fast checkout.
I mean come on you consider yourself high-end micro center and you had such low-end quality phones sorry you get one star I give you less if I could improve your merchandise improve your quality of help
The store was laid out a little different but they have a lot of stuff and most of the prices seemed competitive.
I do like Microcenter a lot however they're starting to be like everybody else they got expensive
A good local store for all types of electronic needs. From a small cable to big TV computers all in one place.
I have been going to Microcenter for at least a decade and have never been disappointed. I am editing my review as I just called Microcenter and my wait time was literally the best in the industry, and this was 3 minutes before closing. I am impressed.
As of this point, I have no issue or negative thing to say about Microcenter, the return line wait times are no worse than anywhere else, and is to be expected.
I whole-heartedly recommend Microcenter to anyone looking to upgrade, build or simply browse electronics and computer-based merchandise.
Please visit this store if you have a chance!
I made a day trip out of it and went here as my first stop trying to find a new motherboard for my computer. After browsing online and looking at their prices, it was very appealing. Not only did their Online inventory match their in store inventory very well, the prices were dead on! I walked in there, grabbed a few things I needed in the store front and grabbed the motherboard I needed right from the Open Box section. The prices were excellent on most products and their inventory was pretty decent. You can tell they definitely don't shoot their prices up like Best Buy/Staples.
In regards to their service, it was fair.
I was questioning one of the customer service members there as to why it was considered open box. They stated that it is either a DOA Product/Return that is returned to the store and sent directly to the manufacturer. Overall, I do believe them because the product I purchased was open box and worked perfectly. I tend to not blame the store/manufacturer on DOA items because it could easily of been the consumer mishandling the product.
Pros
- Prices
- Variety
- Sales
- Clearance/Open Box options
Cons
- Availability on sale items
Some of the sales people want to help you, some of them are just trying to collect a commission.
Like a brick-and-mortar Newegg. Staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I came from 45 miles away because of the reputation of this place and the possible savings. Worth it!
They have what you need for a computer. You can build your own. Thumps up.
My go to for all electronics. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. They have everything you need for computers
Good parts good prices the unique view of I can see the parts in person
They got a wide selection of electronic supplies. Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about their products. Online pickup service went smoothly.
Not only the best computer store ever! But just about the only one left. You can find anything techie.
RIP Comp USA
