Place was exactly as expected for the price point, but 1 star for being double charged for parking when i was only here 5 hours. Not worth my time to call and get the credit back. Employee at the front desk saw me valet so Im not sure why they also decided to bill me for self parking.

Overall, this is a very good hotel. We've been staying here for the last 7 years for an annual family vacation and we've had a good experience each year. Is this hotel perfect? No. Is it well above average? Yes. If you want perfect, go spend $600-700/night for the 4-Seasons. If you can tolerate very good, stay here for a fraction of that price. The location and the grounds are what make this hotel. You are close to the beach, shopping, movie theaters, restaurants, and everything else So Cal has to offer. The trail behind the hotel along the 'back bay' provides a great place to get a run or walk in and the gym and pools are clean and well kept. The staff is friendly and try their best to address your needs. We've had a few issues with rooms and noise over the years and they have always been willing to compensate/accommodate. We will continue to stay at the Hyatt for the foreseeable future.

I did not start at the hotel, but came for a 1 day seminar. The location is across from the Newport Back Bay and is very relaxing and beautiful. The staff is welcoming and very helpful. We were served a plated lunch and the food was delicious.

Thanks to manager Garrett Kodama, and to all the staff for the wonderful stay at the Hotel Regency Newport Beach, professionalism and kindness have never been lacking from him. We started the holiday with an issue that was however largely recovered during the stay.

This Hyatt has three pools one is a very large children's pool with a water slide the hotel shows its older side in the popcorn ceiling and holes in the linens and small things like that but the service is wonderful every staff member was so helpful from the front desk to the poolside waitress to the staff at the breakfast bar and even staff you would find walking around everybody offered to help and was so efficient at their work that it made it a pleasure to stay here we will definitely be coming back again my 8 year old daughter LOVES this hotel for the pool and oatmeal

Really enjoyed my stay here. Was able to do early check in, which allowed us to enjoy more time to walk around and enjoy the overall location. We enjoyed some drinks from the bar in the afternoon and the bartender was really nice. Room was nice and clean. Room service was quick to serve us in the evening eventhough it was pretty busy. Will continue to visit this location in the future.

Do not book here. Here s the bad news. The photos and description of this golf resort are wildly misleading. What you ll see in the pictures are modern, elegant, new looking, updated rooms. What you actually get are dowdy, outdated furnishings and rooms that haven t experienced a designer s expertise for YEARS. And don t think I was in the one outlier room. No, no. I changed rooms three different times. The first right when I checked in. The second because it was a double and not the King I had reserved. The third to be on the ground floor. Each was exactly like the last. Some even had those wall unit AC units. The art was drab. The carpet is old. Everything really needs to be thrown out.
For what you get, you are grossly overcharged. At best, this is barely a three star place. There are so many other properties in OC that for the same price you ll get a much higher caliber experience. The new AC Hotel by Marriot for example is a far superior experience for a smaller sum.
Here s the other bad news. They will hold 75.00 PER DAY for incidentals. That would be fine if what you re receiving through room service was worthwhile, but that is not the case. The food, which they really try to present as having healthier options, is so lacking basic quality that I had to send several items back. But here s the real kicker. In addition to having a taste challenged kitchen, they will up charge you 28% just to deliver it.
I would most definitely not recommend the Hyatt of Newport Beach. It is the worst experience in a hotel I have ever had. Not a four star experience by any stretch of the imagination. Accurately, this is 2.5. An Embassy Suites is arguably better. The management should tear the whole thing down and start over. Such a great location. And that s basically the only thing you re getting.

BAD. Four hour wait to check in; stuck us in the far corner of the hotel in a tiny room; booked a room with a patio or balcony, mini-fridge, and work desk, had none of those amenities, we had a scenic view of a private pool to which we didn't have access only to watch from our window (since we didn't have a balcony or patio) a naked man swimming around; the TV in the room was atrocious, even after waiting 24 hours for someone to "fix" it the TV is apparently so bad that the fixed picture looks like its from a 1990 television; the shuttle to the airport did not have air conditioning; the service from every employee we spoke to was sub par to put it lightly. We left this hotel to try our luck at a Marriott Courtyard only to get an early check in and upgraded to a suite. Oh and the WiFi is free at the Marriott too. Will never go back to the Hyatt Regency in Newport Beach or anywhere.

The location is perfect. However, the first room we were in was a little too small for our young children and it had an awkward layout. The grounds were beautifully kept and the bar was great. Will likely stay again but request a bigger room at first.

Nice place, but details matter at their price point. Heating systems didn't work, leaked on carpet. Rooms only have small windows to walk ways. Way to hear anything in the walk ways. You hear many airplanes over head. They have a nice bar and deck area. Pool was nice and great for families. Staff was super nice.

Location is great, right off jamboree but nothing useful around besides gas stations. Seems a little too pricey for what they offer and for how far it is from the beach. Drinks from the bar were decent, one was too sweet and other was way too strong after I told them about the first. But it is Newport so you're paying for location. Rooms have outdated ac and popcorn ceilings. Just an old hotel with new pricing, won't be staying again.

The hotel is a resort and has quite a lot of activities. Several swimming pools and a golf course are part of the activities that you can enjoy. The restaurant offers good food and the rooms are spaces. The service is agile and very friendly. The only point to improve is that some rooms are old

BED BUGS!!!! BED BUGS!!!! BED BUGS!!! I had at least 100 bites all over my body. Then I complained and they put me in another room. HOUSEKEEPING DOESN'T"T GET IT!!! They moved ALL of my bags/clothing into the "NEW" room with out WASHING anything. Bed bugs spread that way!!! More importantly the hotel staff acted AS IF it was NOT a big deal. I've been a Hyatt member for YEARS and I expect to pay more SO I DON'T end up in a CHEAP hotel with bugs! No refund, credits, or extra points added or offered at all for the inconvenience.

OH! And to top it off... The power went out for a couple hours

Room was nice, but parking was way too expensive for the guests; 27 dollars a night. There were plenty of amenities though including a pool, and golf, tennis and bar with some outdoor seating and fire pit.

Cool
